Episode Transcript
[00:00:07] Speaker A: Welcome to Barely dnd, our sort of podcast. I'm your host, Colton Galbraith, and with me on my podcast are, of course, you know, the other guys.
[00:00:20] Speaker B: Sure.
[00:00:20] Speaker A: Who can go ahead and introduce yourselves if you want to.
[00:00:24] Speaker C: Oh, man.
[00:00:24] Speaker D: You have to do your monologue.
[00:00:26] Speaker E: That was so good.
[00:00:28] Speaker A: I know I'm so important and I do have a very important monologue, especially now because election season is upon us and I have a lot of things to say. But before that I would like.
[00:00:41] Speaker D: All right, everybody, that was monologue.
[00:00:46] Speaker B: I do vote for Holden.
[00:00:49] Speaker A: It's laced with politics and explicitives which.
[00:00:52] Speaker B: This podcast is full of, is famous for.
This is welcome back to Bailey DnD Sword Dungeons and Dragons podcast. We have Colton again guesting with us. Thank you, Colton. So fun much. Big thanks for having. Absolutely. We have determined our lady talk question, which is.
[00:01:10] Speaker E: Oh, wait, I was, I was gonna say if you want to hear. If you. Before we do the letter question, if you would like to hear more episodes or more D and D with Colton, we have a few Patreon specials that Colton was in that were really fun.
[00:01:27] Speaker B: Good.
[00:01:28] Speaker E: So you should go check out our Patreon because we have played. Some of us have played with Colton before and he's a really fun player to play D and D with.
[00:01:36] Speaker B: Okay. I would argue, I would argue one of our two best one shots ever is with Colton.
And I believe it's into the woods, Right?
[00:01:45] Speaker E: So vampire to grandmother's side.
[00:01:47] Speaker B: Vampires.
It's very dramatic. And man.
Okay, now I'm just flashing back. Seriously, it's, it's, it's some of the best D and D we've ever. It's so awesome. The, the, the. It's not about love. It's about acceptance moment. Anywho.
Yeah. So on the Patreon, really cool moments with Colton. Actually 21 shots with Colton because there was into the woods and there was the stone God.
[00:02:13] Speaker A: The stone God. That one was wild.
[00:02:15] Speaker F: Was that the snake one?
[00:02:17] Speaker B: Uh huh. That was a snake one.
[00:02:18] Speaker F: Yeah.
[00:02:19] Speaker B: But Una Hoodle, back to this session. So the redditor question. No, no, that was a great plug. The lender question for today as Landon stares statically unblinking, is if your character were alive today, what would be their most recent artist? Man, your dog's cute. What would be their most recent artist they'd listen to on Spotify? And I assume I know who the DMNPC is.
[00:02:42] Speaker E: Terrence Squid boy.
[00:02:44] Speaker B: Well, remember, his name is. His name is.
[00:02:49] Speaker A: I just realized that one thing that I love about this so much is anytime Terrence is mentioned of Daniels here.
He's not going to know which one y'all are talking about. Like, is it turkey Terrence or is it flumph?
[00:03:01] Speaker F: Oh, my God.
[00:03:05] Speaker B: So we'll start with Craig. What would Craig's most recent Spotify, Phoebe Bridges.
[00:03:15] Speaker E: I can see that.
[00:03:17] Speaker B: I was just thinking to myself that Craig would be a really big Olivia Rodrigo fan. But I also see Phoebe Bridgers.
[00:03:23] Speaker E: I could also see Carpenter.
[00:03:26] Speaker C: I feel like, yes, whenever he's alone, he listens to music. And I feel like it's whenever he's, like, kind of sad. And I've said in the past, and I'll say it again, Killer by Phoenix Bridgers is Craig's, like, art wrench song because he relates so much to it of, like, oh, am I the killer? Like, oh, am I the bad guy kind of a thing.
[00:03:46] Speaker B: Yeah. So I feel like. I feel like, like, artists of female, like, power and emotion are big to Craig because Craig is coming out of his, like, toxic masculinity shell. And so I feel like their message, like, their empowerment is his conviction. And I feel like. But like, in a good way, you know?
[00:04:03] Speaker C: But also I feel like sometimes women have, like, a way with words. Whenever it comes to, like, painting, like, the picture of, like, I don't know, Like, I think that.
[00:04:12] Speaker B: Micah, that was a good answer. I just. I got the urge sometimes when you went. I feel like women have a way with words. I got the urge to be like, no, I don't think so. It just, like, totally ruined. I'm so sorry. This is a great. Please finish your point. I'm so sorry.
[00:04:26] Speaker C: Well, no, just the fact that, like, coming from a place of, like, toxic masculinity, he didn't have a lot of male voices speaking in such well expressed emotional phrases that when he listened to Phoebe Bridgers, it was like, whoa, this whole world opened up. And she put it into words what he was struggling with. Anyways, Phoebe Bridgers, we love you.
[00:04:48] Speaker B: We have limited time with Colton, so I really don't want to get too lost, but that is. That is actually a. You. You described a phenomenon in my life where. Where male consuming male art. I was always like, there's just only so much emotion you're going to get most of the time. And then when I discovered female artists, I was like, oh, wow. They say the things I feel. And I was like, this is really liberating. And so you are, you know. Yeah. Greta. What would.
[00:05:09] Speaker F: What would.
[00:05:09] Speaker B: Greta's most recent female artists, I mean, at some time in middle school I was like, whoa, Girls say things.
[00:05:20] Speaker F: Greta has two. Mine is. No, both of these. Greta has two. The first one is Prince because feels Greta, very Greta.
Like, most talented person alive. Incredible music, and then just like, kind of funky and weird sometimes, and he's got great outfits. And the second one would be Greta Van Fleet because I feel like there's just like a.
Like a. Like a cosmic vibe to their song.
[00:05:50] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:05:53] Speaker A: Underrated.
[00:05:54] Speaker F: Underrated verse right here. Just like. Like the chorus and heat above. I've listened to that and be like, oh, this is. I think I said, yeah.
And like the. Like, we don't. We're not fighting for war, but to save the loves of those who do so. Like that. Yeah. So Prince for the vibes, Greta Van Fleet for the lyrics and also the vibes.
[00:06:15] Speaker B: Now, whenever Greta's having an epic combat moment, like, in her. In her, like, redemption, favor her story, I'm only going to be able to hear, like, Greta Van Fleet that she is so. Her moments of power is so Greta Van Fleet. Yeah.
I also feel like. I know we don't romanticize Greta a lot, but I feel like her having. I feel like she'd be one of the old ladies with a crush on Prince. But maybe I'm wrong. That's your character. And I don't want to speak for her.
[00:06:37] Speaker E: I could see it.
[00:06:38] Speaker B: But anywho, that just feels very Greta. But your character, Ro.
[00:06:48] Speaker E: I don't know. I feel like Ro would have so much on her Spotify being a bard. But I think currently, I think her. Yeah, she's listening to Jackie Butler.
No, I think Ro would be rocking some Chapel Roan right now.
[00:07:06] Speaker F: Yeah. I feel like. Don't let me project. But I feel like Ro would have been listening to Chapel Roan like, seven years ago. But then also, like, I feel like Ro Spotify is just like entirely like little super unknown indie artists who are just like. Ro is like. Oh, yeah. I like. Just like she's constantly, like, underground, forever living in that.
[00:07:30] Speaker A: Oh, I liked them two years ago.
[00:07:31] Speaker E: Exactly.
She's the epitome of being like, I knew them before they were cool. Like, she knows every artist before they hit it.
[00:07:40] Speaker F: She is.
[00:07:40] Speaker E: Yeah, yeah. But I think she'd be. I think she'd be bopping some. Some Chapel Roan, just like really, like, super graphic, ultra modern girl and stuff. And, yeah, rocking out to it.
[00:07:55] Speaker D: Boz Boss would be listening to Cat's Eye.
[00:08:01] Speaker B: What is that? I don't know that, but very.
[00:08:02] Speaker D: Because you've been so out of touch, touch, touch, touch. Touch. Think about you. You seriously don't know the song?
Nobody knows.
[00:08:10] Speaker B: Established that Zach is forever and eternally.
[00:08:13] Speaker D: I'm surprised that Jackie, Micah, Abby don't know this song. Yes. Y'all haven't had that flooding your Instagram forever?
[00:08:20] Speaker B: No.
Is there.
[00:08:23] Speaker D: That's not the one that's like, stop.
[00:08:24] Speaker B: They don't love you like I love you.
[00:08:26] Speaker E: No.
Yeah, yeah. Yes.
[00:08:30] Speaker D: That one has been funny, too. Very surprised.
[00:08:33] Speaker B: Wow.
[00:08:34] Speaker D: I thought that was going to be very funny.
[00:08:35] Speaker B: I don't know, man. You're talking to a guy whose Facebook is nothing but snake and spider identification.
[00:08:42] Speaker A: Zach, are we in the same pages?
[00:08:44] Speaker B: Probably. If you. If you have Australian snake identification, we're in the same pages.
[00:08:48] Speaker E: The fact that Facebook shows where you're at.
[00:08:52] Speaker B: We know who I am. There's. Don't get on social media. I write your campaign.
[00:08:56] Speaker C: Anywho, the time that you spend scrolling on feed Zach spends planning, writing your story.
[00:09:07] Speaker B: Okay. Abby didn't like that joke.
[00:09:09] Speaker F: You have four days inside of one day. Do you like. Do you, like, make your one day.
[00:09:13] Speaker B: Into four separate things like me? You'd be millionaires already, said the teacher, Shelby.
What would be his recent artist?
[00:09:25] Speaker A: It would be. There'd be two, probably that he'd be switching through. There'd be Tom Carty, which makes a bunch of silly songs on YouTube.
He said it weird, though. It was like Dracula.
[00:09:41] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:09:41] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:09:42] Speaker E: I love him like, there's eight Dracula.
[00:09:46] Speaker A: And then it would be whenever he.
[00:09:48] Speaker B: Didn'T want because I almost.
[00:09:50] Speaker A: That I run into is sometimes I love an artist, but then they're inherently only silly. And then I'm like, well, I. I don't want a silly song, but I love this vibe.
[00:09:59] Speaker B: That's what I go to Larry for.
Sorry. Please continue.
I clear. I'm missing a lot of jokes tonight. Let's not talk about it.
[00:10:08] Speaker A: Keep going.
[00:10:11] Speaker B: Larry. Keep going. I'm sorry, Colton. Don't look at me.
[00:10:14] Speaker A: The cucumber.
[00:10:16] Speaker E: Oh, that's unfortunate.
[00:10:20] Speaker B: Don't. Don't me. Keep going. Keep going with your. No one talk about it. I was never here.
[00:10:24] Speaker A: Keep going with l. No, that was a deep cut, and I loved it. And I want to give it the attention that that joke deserves. And so let's all take a moment of silence, as you should, for all jokes.
Okay? And then it would also be Duran Jones and the indications who I heard only when I was at a Greta Van Fleet concert and they opened for him. And, oh, my goodness, I was unprepared for the amount of funk. And it was so oh, it's, it's, it's amazing. I can't recommend it enough. Every single song I'm writing it down has me sitting here. Durant Jones. And I think it's the indications, but sometimes I say implications because it's the indications.
So.
So Duran Jones is the indications.
[00:11:14] Speaker B: Duran Jones and the indications.
[00:11:16] Speaker A: All of them. I, I, I'm not even joking when I say I haven't heard a bad one, but with you is great.
[00:11:22] Speaker F: Awesome.
[00:11:23] Speaker E: That's when I picked the title, which.
[00:11:25] Speaker A: It was so good.
[00:11:26] Speaker B: Oh, okay.
[00:11:27] Speaker A: It's, it's one that, like, you know when you're sitting there and it's an opener and you're like, I'll check these guys out. And then I went home and I was like, holy crap. These might be a favorite. Like these.
[00:11:38] Speaker E: I love when that happens.
[00:11:41] Speaker F: I happen to me.
[00:11:45] Speaker B: All right. Sick.
I think, I think.
Or Terrence would. I think he's a flumph trapped on an island. So I think he wants a music with a lot of story to it because I think he needs music that takes him somewhere because he doesn't go anywhere. So I think he would be listening to Jorge Rivera Herranz, the guy who does the epic, the musical, the Greek odyssey musical stuff, because he, you know, like, it's like, it's like a whole story in the songs. And so I think he'd be all like, yeah, this takes me somewhere. Which you guys should look up Epic the Musical, but neither here nor there.
All right, well, that was a really robust Landon.
[00:12:31] Speaker F: Nice.
[00:12:32] Speaker D: What I'm saying.
[00:12:34] Speaker B: Did we hear we don't have Landon go around here? He doesn't. If we can we try not to have him talk?
[00:12:39] Speaker F: Oh, wait.
[00:12:40] Speaker A: Okay, I'll stop acknowledging him.
[00:12:42] Speaker E: He did.
[00:12:42] Speaker B: Boz did Cat's Eye. Oh, Cat's Eye.
[00:12:46] Speaker A: That might have been one of setting Dolly out to pee.
[00:12:51] Speaker B: That's Colton's roommate. So, without further ado for the note taking nerds, this is episode 119 of the Accidental Adventures. Level 11 Adventure 3488pb Kalilan the 9th, episode 119 fungi to another.
I work hard on the titles. I see what you did there.
[00:13:13] Speaker D: I don't understand.
[00:13:15] Speaker E: Like, one guy to another to another, from one guy to another, fun guy to another.
[00:13:21] Speaker D: I see.
[00:13:21] Speaker B: I got it. It'll make more sense.
All right, I get it.
[00:13:25] Speaker F: Why is it gonna make more sense?
[00:13:27] Speaker B: So fun guys, you've been talking with Shelby for an hour or so, and you've asked Terrance if he knew Jath, and he just Said. Yeah, I know that guy.
[00:13:42] Speaker E: How far away? You said on the other side of the island.
Like how long a travel is that?
[00:13:48] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah. I don't recall right off the top of my head. And also this whole conversation is you guys talking to.
[00:13:55] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:13:57] Speaker B: And hearing nothing out loud, but only hearing the telepathic voice in your head.
[00:14:00] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:14:01] Speaker B: And so the voice just continues and says, I don't. I don't know.
I know the guy who has that clothing lives by the waterfall on the other side of the big mountain. Okay, but this place has a waterfall.
Not gonna lie, Shelby. You haven't. You haven't gotten very far. Well, I'm scared.
Yeah. And I'm not trying to dissuade you, okay, buddy? But we.
It's, you know, maybe like, I don't know, I float everywhere.
[00:14:39] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:14:41] Speaker B: Walking's different. It take a while long ago. A long ago. Okay.
[00:14:49] Speaker E: Okay. Yeah.
[00:14:49] Speaker B: Maybe a ten days ago.
[00:14:51] Speaker E: Okay, I get that. Yeah. Thank you.
What if I can I. Well, yeah. Okay. Cool, cool, cool, cool.
[00:14:59] Speaker B: Yeah, sure, sure. Yeah.
[00:15:06] Speaker E: So, Shelby, you want to get off the island?
[00:15:10] Speaker A: Yes. I need to be asking, actually. And I'm going to take Terrance by what I'm like, if it was a human or a humanoid, I would grab it by both sides of its face. I'm going to look at Terrence.
[00:15:20] Speaker B: The flump face, body, Same thing.
[00:15:24] Speaker A: Terrence. There's a chance that I might actually be leaving this island, Terrence. And this is either goodbye or I would also like to. You've done so much for me, I think.
Would you like to come with me?
[00:15:46] Speaker B: Make a persuasion check for me, Shelby.
Ooh, ooh.
[00:15:53] Speaker A: If I'm persuading, it's going to be good.
[00:16:00] Speaker B: Oh, also, before you roll the check, know that you have inspiration for all the role play you've done so far. Oh, thank you.
[00:16:06] Speaker A: That is a dirty 20.
[00:16:08] Speaker B: Oh, well, Terence is physically incapable of nodding. But both stocks just.
And you hear.
Honestly, I could stand to get off the island. I hear the world's scary out there, though. It's not going to be scary.
[00:16:30] Speaker A: Oh, it's going to be terrifying. And I'm so excited to have you with me.
[00:16:34] Speaker B: Okay, just don't let me get hurt. Anything.
[00:16:36] Speaker A: I cannot promise that. But you know what?
[00:16:41] Speaker B: You should promise me that no parents.
[00:16:45] Speaker A: Because if I could promise you, it wouldn't be worth going.
[00:16:51] Speaker B: You got me.
[00:16:54] Speaker A: Headbutt him.
[00:16:55] Speaker B: You do. There's this little. And there's like a squish. Like a sound. And you do this little. And flumps in the 5e flump stat block. Their only defensive cape. They can't make attacks. Their only defensive capability is a stinking cloud. So you headbutt a fart out of this is 5. E. You headbutt a fart out of 10. It's just like a. And this little blue cloud goes. And it smells real bad.
[00:17:22] Speaker E: I pressed to digitate it away.
[00:17:26] Speaker C: Craig.
[00:17:27] Speaker E: Wait, can I do that with thinking? God.
[00:17:29] Speaker C: Smell back.
[00:17:30] Speaker B: Do that, Craig.
Oh, Colton. Craig President hates my farting. So Craig farts and the smell returns. And I thank you for respecting his ro whistles.
[00:17:45] Speaker C: It's a very offensive RO that you don't let him now have his natural scent. Okay.
[00:17:54] Speaker E: Anyway.
[00:18:01] Speaker B: And the party's standing there not moving.
[00:18:03] Speaker C: Hey, we should go meet that one.
[00:18:07] Speaker E: Where are you guys wanting fly?
Yeah, we could fly, but where are you guys?
[00:18:14] Speaker F: Our leaf was acting real funky.
[00:18:17] Speaker B: Oh, yeah, Shelby, they just said fly.
[00:18:22] Speaker A: Well, I can't do that.
[00:18:24] Speaker E: Well, balls and I could. We could if. If the leaf isn't working right now, we could just, you know, do something because it'll take a day.
[00:18:34] Speaker D: It'd be a nice stroll. I mean, we're already here. Let's just appreciate.
[00:18:37] Speaker E: I didn't like strolling on the last island we were on.
[00:18:41] Speaker D: You know, you're kind of a bummer.
[00:18:48] Speaker E: I went grew a beard, first of all.
[00:18:52] Speaker B: And then I saw you the day after Ro almost died.
[00:18:56] Speaker D: I thought you were talking about ag, but you're obviously talking.
[00:19:03] Speaker E: And had to deal with you know who we flew there.
[00:19:07] Speaker D: Though technically that was because of the flying. We flew up to the spot where you got zapped.
If we had never flown up there, I would have never gotten my hand acid it off. And you would have never tried to cast a spell.
[00:19:20] Speaker B: You would have never got the shadow fell.
[00:19:21] Speaker E: All your fault.
[00:19:22] Speaker D: Lying is the problem.
[00:19:24] Speaker E: You are correct. It was all your fault.
[00:19:26] Speaker A: Shelby's gonna look at Tello.
[00:19:29] Speaker B: Colton, that's crazy. I was about to talk.
I was writing a note down and then gonna look up. Dude, that's crazy. Okay, so Shelby and Tello look at each other at the same moment, and Tello just mouths like, we've known each other a long time. It's like a family. We fight you.
[00:19:50] Speaker A: I can respect that. And I'm gonna give him, like, low knuckles.
[00:19:55] Speaker B: He just like, touches your hand with his fingertips. No, no, no.
[00:20:00] Speaker A: And I grab his hand and I.
[00:20:01] Speaker B: Make it into a fist, and he goes, we low knuckles knucks.
[00:20:06] Speaker E: Shelby, where are you wanting to go? You said you want to get off the island, but, like, where are you.
[00:20:11] Speaker B: Wanting to go, I mean, you know.
[00:20:14] Speaker A: I recently was able to finance a small voyage. Just says that I kind of.
I wanted to see what happened to Ms. Greenbottle, who may or may not be your relative. I'm very happy.
[00:20:26] Speaker E: She is. She is. This is her loot.
She holds it up.
[00:20:31] Speaker A: I don't think she stole that.
[00:20:33] Speaker B: Shelby loot that's laced with gold and has crystal in it. Holy crap.
[00:20:40] Speaker A: I have experience with appraisal. I would like to thank. How much could I sell that for?
[00:20:46] Speaker B: Could you give me. Could you give me a history check and an arcana? No, sorry. Could you lead with an arcana check and then give me a history check?
[00:20:55] Speaker E: You don't know that he's doing that.
[00:20:58] Speaker B: You can't mind read, and you're not. You don't have to spell metagame so you don't know what Shelby's thinking.
[00:21:04] Speaker A: 16 arcana for history.
[00:21:07] Speaker B: Okay, well, then it goes as follows.
The instrument has vines growing out of it, has gold and gemstones laced into it, and there's this symbol on the front. It's a circle in the middle with three circles overlapping, and then a tiniest circle in the center you've never seen before, and that's gold and has light reflecting. This is clearly a very magical loot. Now, with the four, you're not really sure how to appraise this thing at all, but only because of how valuable you must assume it is. So thousands of gold at the low end. This thing is incredibly valuable and just a reminder that a gold is virtually 300. So this thing, like, you don't know what it's worth, but it must be worth hundreds of thousands of dollars in terms of, like, you could get thousands of gold.
[00:21:57] Speaker A: I look back to my lyre, which is on top of.
[00:22:01] Speaker B: As you. As you look at it, the last. The fifth string goes and pops off and coils. Yeah. And it's just.
[00:22:08] Speaker A: It's a black liar made out of, like, just one piece of wood carved, and it's in the shape of a swan, like, with a long neck on one side where you hold it, like, here. And it's like, I got that for, like, 30 silver. Oh, man.
Kind of outclassed here.
[00:22:28] Speaker E: I mean. I mean, this was inherited from my mother.
[00:22:32] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:22:33] Speaker A: Who was.
[00:22:39] Speaker E: Ravenna Green bottle.
[00:22:41] Speaker A: Okay. You're sticking to that. Okay. Perspective.
[00:22:45] Speaker D: If you don't believe her, like, look at the loot closer. Like, see if you can, like, hold it and play it like it's special. Like, it's like, oh.
[00:22:53] Speaker A: I wouldn't be so Presumptuous. And I'm going to look at Ro with hungry eyes.
[00:23:04] Speaker C: Can you write that down? Can someone write that down? I'm going to look at Ro with hungry eyes.
[00:23:10] Speaker B: I'm taking quotes down. I'll put that down.
[00:23:14] Speaker E: I mean, Ro just looks at him and looks at the lute, and then she plays like four bars of the Chaotic Mage and sings a little bit.
[00:23:30] Speaker B: You've heard this song, Shelby, and it is gorgeous.
I think you've listened to the episode where Jackie sings that song. But that's the Chaotic Mage. The thing. Jackie, did you sing a little bit of it.
[00:23:51] Speaker E: The Chaotic Major.
That.
[00:23:56] Speaker A: That one.
[00:23:57] Speaker B: And Shelby, as you listen, incredible singer. You do recognize the song. But what's most impressive is that she plays the lute. It plays the sound of a lute playing, and it produces the sound of two or three other instruments accompanying at the same time. So clearly there harmonies in harmony.
[00:24:14] Speaker A: Oh, okay.
Someone finished. Bart, go. Okay, Respect.
[00:24:22] Speaker D: Actually dropped out, but she doesn't like to mention it.
[00:24:26] Speaker E: I didn't.
[00:24:27] Speaker A: Hey, that's.
[00:24:27] Speaker B: Pause is coming for rose throat today. Dude.
[00:24:34] Speaker A: What are y'all. Actually, while I have you. Are y'all like some kind of tree offspring or what?
[00:24:43] Speaker E: A tree offspring.
[00:24:45] Speaker D: A tree. I don't know, Treant offspring.
[00:24:47] Speaker B: Saplings. Yes.
[00:24:49] Speaker D: Well, we're saplings of the greater treant.
[00:24:52] Speaker E: Well, I'm.
[00:24:53] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:24:54] Speaker E: What?
[00:24:54] Speaker A: I've heard of this.
[00:24:55] Speaker E: Yes, well, I'm a sapling of ravenna Green bottle.
[00:25:03] Speaker A: See, already her story's falling apart, but it's all right.
[00:25:14] Speaker B: And this conversation is happening as the group is walking and following Terrance, who's just puffing across the landscape.
[00:25:21] Speaker E: I think it's gonna take a while to get there. I think we should just fly boss.
[00:25:28] Speaker B: There.
[00:25:31] Speaker E: Not if we. Not if we giant eagled it.
[00:25:33] Speaker D: Not if we carry people in our claws.
[00:25:36] Speaker E: Yeah, or we could. What if we did horses? We could. We could. We could. We could gallop there. That'd be faster.
[00:25:43] Speaker D: What if.
Oh, gosh.
Okay, here's what I'm going to do. Y'all hang out here. I'm going to go fly over to where we're going to do, and then I'll come back and we can tree stride over there. How about that?
[00:25:56] Speaker E: Yeah, but I don't. I don't know. But what if you run into, like, you know, the mini guy and he looks like me and you get to see him before I do?
[00:26:06] Speaker D: I'm not. I promise I'll close my eyes.
[00:26:10] Speaker E: How are you gonna see the tree if you close your eyes? Balls I don't know, but this is.
[00:26:14] Speaker D: Much faster than any other planned.
[00:26:16] Speaker E: How about I go with you?
Or we just all go.
[00:26:22] Speaker D: Okay.
[00:26:23] Speaker E: I'm fine. Whatever.
[00:26:25] Speaker F: If it's only a day's walk, then it can't be that long of a flight. Why?
[00:26:31] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:26:35] Speaker A: I. How long did. What is the fly to a walk? You know, what is the.
What's the conversion rate?
[00:26:43] Speaker E: I. I just. I think I.
[00:26:48] Speaker A: Yes.
[00:26:52] Speaker E: Is there another animal besides a giant eagle that flies that we know of?
[00:26:56] Speaker B: No.
[00:26:56] Speaker A: There's a lot of animals that fly. There's hummingbirds, there's parrots, there's mosquitoes.
[00:27:02] Speaker F: Can't you.
[00:27:03] Speaker A: Sometimes if you throw something, it can.
[00:27:04] Speaker B: Look like it's flying.
[00:27:05] Speaker E: Some gerbils, dragons. Dm.
[00:27:09] Speaker B: Everyone else here sure can't. But because of Baaz's specific subclass, he can.
[00:27:13] Speaker E: Oh, he can. But I can't. I can't polymorph into some kind of.
[00:27:17] Speaker B: Dragon, even a little bit.
[00:27:20] Speaker D: I think I barely can carry us. I think having one more person would make it to where I couldn't do that. I mean, dm, correct me if I'm.
[00:27:27] Speaker F: Wrong, Jackie can also.
[00:27:28] Speaker B: No. Yeah.
[00:27:29] Speaker F: You'd really be pushing.
[00:27:31] Speaker A: Meeting someone's family is important. I am more than happy to just walk in a direction and hopefully meet you on the other side of the aisle if y'all need to go.
[00:27:44] Speaker E: No, no, no, it's fine.
[00:27:48] Speaker B: Terence is floating along and goes, I.
[00:27:50] Speaker E: Kind of want you to.
[00:27:51] Speaker B: Don't you need me to show you where we're going? Terrence, can you fly me over there with them? And he's like, turns and looks at you and goes, nope, nope. Not even a little bit. Quiet. I say we should walk.
[00:28:04] Speaker D: Okay, fine.
[00:28:05] Speaker B: Let's walk.
[00:28:06] Speaker E: Fine.
[00:28:06] Speaker F: We used to be a good old, normal walk in party. We can be a good old, normal walk.
[00:28:10] Speaker D: Let's just go back to our room.
[00:28:13] Speaker E: Our root walls. Is that supposed to be a joke? Because you have roots and we don't.
[00:28:18] Speaker D: I'm sorry, we can't fly. Ro. If you want to fly, we can meet you over there. Or you could fly above us. We could fly, like, above us as we walk.
[00:28:26] Speaker E: It's fine. I'm just a little. I'm just a little frustrated. Assault.
Not in anything specific. I've just had a rough day.
[00:28:33] Speaker D: This feels like we can have a group hug right now.
[00:28:35] Speaker E: And I don't like when people don't believe me about things.
[00:28:38] Speaker B: And everybody.
Okay. And as the whole group goes to hug, Shelby joins, makes a face, and looks at Shelby.
[00:28:52] Speaker C: Craig.
Craig does like A movement and then goes into them. Like goes under and goes into the middle of the hug.
[00:29:00] Speaker D: I embrace that.
[00:29:01] Speaker B: Craig.
[00:29:01] Speaker D: Craig centered hug is the best.
[00:29:07] Speaker F: Hug.
[00:29:07] Speaker E: To like Rose not Rose not hugging back. She's just like taking it.
[00:29:14] Speaker B: It's just real weird. And eventually it ends one person at a time. There's a beach bum in this hug. Also.
[00:29:24] Speaker C: Digitates.
[00:29:24] Speaker B: Yeah, I just gotta repose in the hug. There's one and a puff of magic and everybody's irritated.
[00:29:35] Speaker D: That's how you know it's time to let go. And then I let go of the hug.
[00:29:39] Speaker B: And immediately after the prestigitation part, after the part, everybody immediately lets go and the hug dissolves and the party walks on. And as the party makes the decision to walk instead of flying, they successfully don't skip two episodes worth of content the DM wrote.
Yeah. And as they walked, I thought for.
[00:30:03] Speaker A: Sure this group would skip, at least at the time.
[00:30:07] Speaker B: So you guys continue to travel across foo funfump. What?
Okay. It's just hours of fun. Fiend landscape.
Idyllic smooth hills.
[00:30:21] Speaker E: Do we need any other bumps? Sorry, sorry. You're in your description and I'm interrupting. I'm so sorry. Go. I'll shut up.
[00:30:31] Speaker F: Oh, no, he's frozen.
[00:30:32] Speaker B: Idyllic landscapes filled with diverse flora. You guys pass by the soft green grasses grow in like thick mats of vegetation, like beds of knotted roots. And they produce these sprays of like thin tub. Oh, I need to change the music.
They produce these sprays of like thin tubular stalks that explode into thin flowers. And fuzzy white, kind of like haired. Like the way that like dandelions have like, like seeds that are like fuzzy like white haired seed heads that catch and drift with the wind.
From between them grow whirling shrubs that are dense, woody plants 2 to 4ft in diameter themselves, growing so close to the ground that you guys can't like see any trunks. The, the, the canopy of the shrubs with the ground and it looks like they just kind of sprout straight out of it.
And you can't see. The foliage looks evergreen dense. And when I say whirling, the pattern of the leaves and the branches literally swirl. So they make a strange visual effect. And they have all these little bright multicolored berries all over them.
Then as you guys walk further up the landscape, that storm overhead, or like light cloud storm full of colors.
Thunders, you guess, but it's not a thunder sound. Instead it goes and it begins to rain and sheets down over you, but not hard. Very, very softly.
And the rain is Like a really thick mist coming down. And it has colors to it. Like a sheet of. It will be kind of light blue and the next, like a really pale yellow, very, very faintly, like. Like the way water catches light as it falls. And the rain is warm and you can smell it. It smells sweet.
[00:32:34] Speaker E: Ro sticks out her tongue.
[00:32:36] Speaker B: Ro, as you test, as you taste it, it's sweet on your tongue, like, kind of like the sweetness of a fruit, but very, very light.
[00:32:45] Speaker E: This is why Ro likes sugar, because.
[00:32:47] Speaker B: She'S half dryad and none of you all are missing any hit points. But as you walk in this rain. As you walk in this rain, Shelby, you slowly become completely sobered. Your hangover weep. Because as your minor condition is relieved and as you guys continue to walk, you're walking across the soils and you're just still walking through open, rolling fields. But as it begins to rain, the soils begin parting and little caps begin growing up from the soil. And just as you're walking, thousands of fungi start sprouting through the soils in front of you. There's like beds and paths of them all very multicolored, thick.
[00:33:37] Speaker F: Wow.
[00:33:38] Speaker B: And their stalks are sprouting rapidly with diverse shape, caps, colors, folds, shell fungi. And they're not feeding on decay. And they're growing magically quickly, like from the soils in response to whatever this rain is.
[00:33:54] Speaker A: If there's any that I've experimented with before with psychedelic effects, I would like to harvest more now.
[00:34:02] Speaker B: Okay, Shelby, go ahead and roll me a. Go ahead and roll me 3d10 and record the value separately. Greta, what were you saying?
[00:34:13] Speaker F: Greta's just going to like, sit down and when she finds one that's just beginning to sprout and like watch it until it gets. Until it's fully grown and then she'll just like, run.
Actually, how long does it take for it?
[00:34:30] Speaker B: So, Greta, as you squat down to watch, you watch as one. It's got. It's this.
The soil begins being like pushed apart like a wound in the earth, and this little soft cap grows up and it's like this pale white. And then as it grows up, it's sort of like spirals up quickly into like a full grown mushroom in about six seconds.
[00:34:54] Speaker F: Wow.
[00:34:55] Speaker B: And as it lifts up, it lifts up to a height, and then there's this like slow separation until there's like this pop with no sound, and the whole cap just clouds up into this dome. And below, you can see that the base of the mushroom is the swirling blue and white pattern all the way down. And the cap has all these, like, little kind of, like, nodules grown over the top. And as it lifts up, all these little spores just beneath and begin drifting off with the wind and landing with the rain coming down on it. It's incredibly quick.
[00:35:26] Speaker F: Wow. I take down. She watches, like, 50 of them.
[00:35:33] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:35:34] Speaker F: She'll, like, watch one and then, like, watch a couple around her and then run and catch up.
[00:35:38] Speaker B: Are you taking notes in your magical notebook?
[00:35:42] Speaker F: No, because boss told me not to, but I am, like. I'm like, cheat a little bit.
[00:35:48] Speaker B: Absolutely, Boz. And then I'll come back to you. Shelby.
[00:35:51] Speaker F: I'm making, like, kind of sad faces with Boz every once in a while.
[00:35:54] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:35:56] Speaker D: I.
I take out the shroom that was growing on the dead Kuo Toa that we cast gentle repose on. We fought the Sea Hag.
[00:36:08] Speaker B: Holy crap, that's.
[00:36:09] Speaker D: And I put it in the ground.
[00:36:11] Speaker C: Oh, okay.
[00:36:14] Speaker B: Boz, you place it down.
[00:36:17] Speaker D: No.
[00:36:17] Speaker B: You're literally the Druid of the first time. Give me.
Give me either Arcana or a wisdom based check with proficiency.
[00:36:27] Speaker D: Oh, I'm already a little bit Arcana's intelligence. A wisdom based check with proficiency.
[00:36:33] Speaker B: And I promise I'm coming back to you, Colton and. Or Shelby Kelby.
[00:36:37] Speaker D: We'll do Arcana.
I'm gonna burn one of my inspirations.
[00:36:43] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:36:44] Speaker F: It cast guidance.
[00:36:46] Speaker D: Oh, thank you. Yeah, I rolled a. Oh, I know which guidance.
A dirty 20.
[00:36:57] Speaker B: Heck yeah.
Boz. As you pull out the shriveled mushroom, you will say you have one piece because you took a sizable portion. You'll have one stalk left. And as you put your next stalk down, it's very desiccated. It is a dry, flattened, lifeless mushroom. As you put it down in the soil, you find yourself whispering over it. And Shelby, his eyes flash gold and rainbow colors, and then his mouth opens, and he begins muttering in, like, a hundred voices at once.
And you don't recognize what he's saying at all. But then all of a sudden, you can understand the whisperings from a language you don't know. And it sounds just sort of like.
But it's like all the voices are layered over. And as you do, the rains falling around the mushroom just pause in the air, and then, like, gravitationally coalesce around the mushroom. And then they, like, its tissues, and its tissues expand back up like they've been refilled with moisture. And the mushroom just sort of like it looks like it's disintegrating in its base at first, but the stalk is bending down toward the soils, and all these white mycelia just begin pushing out into the soils and growing down. And the stalk erects itself slowly. And this is not a cap fungi, the one that was growing on the Kuo toe. It's just a straight stalk. But as it raises up, soon six or seven others sprout up from the soil. It's just this little stand of them there in the soil.
[00:38:23] Speaker D: Bosslands have never had an invasive species before. This should be interesting.
[00:38:29] Speaker B: And if you want to wish that evil on the world, you can. I was just going to have it be magically okay.
[00:38:33] Speaker D: I'm joking. It's beautiful.
[00:38:34] Speaker B: You destroy the entire ecology of this item depending on what this is.
[00:38:37] Speaker D: I don't want to do that. Zachary. No, it was a joke.
[00:38:45] Speaker B: Can a mustard do, though? Yes.
[00:38:48] Speaker D: What?
[00:38:49] Speaker B: Yeah. In fact, the largest threat to the lives of or to the survival of most frog species in Central and South America, as well as bats in North America, are two different kinds of invasive fungi.
[00:39:05] Speaker A: Oh, that's the second most. The most dangerous threat is tax evasion.
[00:39:11] Speaker B: So, Boz, you successfully plant the fungi?
[00:39:14] Speaker D: Depends on how much money it is.
Yes, I do. And I smile at it.
And I think back to the first time we ever killed something.
And I think fondly of it.
[00:39:31] Speaker F: I like, give on his leg or something.
[00:39:35] Speaker B: Okay, I had you roll thrice, and I should have had you roll twice, but you have identified two psychedelic mushrooms on this aisle. A dark brown, wrinkly one and that pale one with the blue and white striped stalk.
And you collect 10 dried 10 mushroom samples of the dark brown and then eight of the white blue one. And from your experience, you remember the dark brown being kind of mildly psych. Well, being psychedelic, certainly. And you remember the white and blue being. Holy crap, Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap, holy crap, holy crap. Psychedelic.
[00:40:23] Speaker D: I also try to gather. Gather some of those as well and any other psychedelic ones that I know or find.
[00:40:29] Speaker B: Okay, boss, could you give me a nature check? You're probably gonna crush it, but a nature check to know which ones you are. A psychedelic. You're the one who can. No one else here can. But I assume you 21. Yeah. Okay. You know exactly that the dark brown one from this aisle and the white and blue are both very psychedelic. And you can. You can roll me a D10 for each as well to collect. Right.
[00:40:52] Speaker A: I see him flocking them and also gathering. And I'm like, okay, so he can party, but he's also maybe.
[00:41:03] Speaker B: A wizard. I don't know.
[00:41:05] Speaker A: Something. He's doing something. He's out of my depths. But he can Party.
[00:41:08] Speaker D: So six and two.
[00:41:10] Speaker B: You have six of the dark brown and two of the blue and white, and you can just record one. The dark brown is psychedelic, and the blue and white is. Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap, holy crap, holy crap. Psychedelic. It's real psychedelic.
[00:41:32] Speaker D: I lean over to Tello, and I'm like, I wonder if we could, like, distill these into something you could lace your arrows with.
[00:41:41] Speaker B: I don't know. It's not a bad idea. I don't know enough about these.
[00:41:45] Speaker D: Oh, funny, because then, like, you're not poisoning. You're not poisoning.
[00:41:50] Speaker B: He just starts tripping out.
[00:41:51] Speaker F: Like, that would be so funny.
[00:41:53] Speaker D: That'd be an awful trip. But, hey, it's better than getting poisoned, right? Technically, it's, like, less combative than poison arrows. Psychedelic arrows.
[00:42:03] Speaker F: That's awesome.
[00:42:04] Speaker B: Tell it just nods and goes. That's a real possibility. And as you guys are. Are moving, you pass by about, like. I mean, there's. There's. There's kind of more than you can keep track of here, but there's like, 12 different kinds of mushrooms, so you can be collecting others if you like. Does anyone do any other mushroom collection or just kind of.
[00:42:21] Speaker F: That there any flowers?
Craig. That's what.
[00:42:26] Speaker B: Okay, Craig is walking around just stomping something.
[00:42:29] Speaker C: Just probably two or three.
I just want to see. You know.
[00:42:36] Speaker B: That's a really good point. Craig. Could you give me. First of all, could you give me an odds or evens?
[00:42:43] Speaker C: Evens. Even Stevens.
[00:42:46] Speaker B: That's what I would show. Now, could you roll me a D100?
It was an odd.
[00:42:54] Speaker E: Oh, no.
[00:42:56] Speaker D: Is he crushing flowers?
He's crushing flowers.
[00:43:02] Speaker B: 70.
[00:43:04] Speaker A: Muscles.
[00:43:06] Speaker E: Wait, y'all both got a 70?
[00:43:09] Speaker B: I don't know what to do with that result.
[00:43:11] Speaker E: You both got the exact same role.
[00:43:14] Speaker B: Okay, here's what we're gonna do. We're gonna re roll, because I can't do anything with that. But give yourself inspiration on how incredibly unlikely that was.
[00:43:20] Speaker D: That was like when a cop thinks fentanyl's in the same room and they fall over or something like that. Is that what's supposed to happen?
[00:43:26] Speaker C: What?
[00:43:29] Speaker F: Grandma's on the fixture now. Do you guys think the blue drop is.
[00:43:36] Speaker B: Craig is walking around stomping mushrooms, and there are, like, a couple little multicolored puffs. No other effect really seems to occur.
[00:43:45] Speaker D: Hey, Craig.
[00:43:46] Speaker C: I succeeded in whatever this was.
[00:43:48] Speaker D: Hey, Craig. Hey. I walk over, and I put a firm hand on his shoulder. I say, please do not crush things here. If you can avoid it, both for your own good and the good of the place that you're in right now.
[00:44:05] Speaker C: Okay. Please, you.
I hope that you leave this conversation feeling heard, valued.
Sorry. Not Craig laughing.
[00:44:16] Speaker B: It's me.
[00:44:17] Speaker C: And appreciated, because that's what you are. And I will no longer stomp on things.
[00:44:23] Speaker D: All right?
[00:44:24] Speaker C: Unless there's a sign that says specifically to stomp on it.
[00:44:27] Speaker D: If I see one, I'll let you know.
[00:44:29] Speaker C: I also will let you know.
[00:44:31] Speaker D: Thank you.
[00:44:36] Speaker B: I don't think there's anything more Craig, in the world than starting a conflict. And then when that conflict arises, being like, I'm going do this for you, and, like, having a moment of certain emotional clarity.
That was an incredible moment, Abby.
Zach, had you what? Yes, Greta. Had you said that you were collecting? I. You started to talk when I asked if anyone else did any collection.
[00:45:01] Speaker F: Okay, I'm not collecting mushrooms, but are there any flowers?
Are there flowers?
[00:45:07] Speaker B: All. All mushrooms and grasses that you're seeing here?
[00:45:09] Speaker F: They're so pretty, though.
[00:45:10] Speaker B: Mushrooms. No flowers.
Okay. But you guys pass by red and blue couch mushrooms, gray cups with white little sort of like. Yep.
[00:45:21] Speaker F: Is there one that's, like, red and with white spots?
[00:45:27] Speaker B: There's. There is a red one with blue spots, but not a red one with white spots.
[00:45:31] Speaker F: Okay. And I don't pick any mushroom.
[00:45:33] Speaker E: Is there a purple one like the one on Rose tattoo, too?
[00:45:36] Speaker B: Yes, there is a. There. There are a sw. They are. They're dabbled around. They're very on their own when they grow. They don't grow near a lot of others.
Ah.
[00:45:45] Speaker E: Like rose.
[00:45:47] Speaker B: And they're very dark purple, very short. They grow all.
[00:45:53] Speaker A: Alone.
[00:45:56] Speaker B: Call them an orphan.
[00:46:00] Speaker E: I take. I pick some of those.
[00:46:02] Speaker B: Okay. Roll. Roll me a D6.
Yes.
[00:46:09] Speaker F: Are there any morels. I could be saying it wrong.
[00:46:16] Speaker B: Any what?
[00:46:17] Speaker F: Morales? Morals.
[00:46:21] Speaker B: Moral Mushrooms.
[00:46:23] Speaker F: It's like the true Morales. They're, like, tall.
[00:46:26] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:46:27] Speaker F: They look like fairy houses. They look like fairies live inside of them.
[00:46:31] Speaker A: Did you just out biology, Zach?
[00:46:35] Speaker B: Well, I don't know everything.
What you talk about the spongy mushrooms.
[00:46:41] Speaker F: So I. Yeah, they're like.
They're brown and tall like the ones.
[00:46:47] Speaker B: The ones that look like sponges.
[00:46:49] Speaker F: Yeah. He's got.
[00:46:53] Speaker B: That's the dark brown, wrinkly one. The one that's mildly hallucination, synergetic.
[00:46:59] Speaker F: Okay.
[00:47:01] Speaker B: Okay. What did you get on your D6? Roll four. Okay. You have four of the dark purple ones.
[00:47:06] Speaker E: Yay.
[00:47:07] Speaker B: Go ahead and put that in your.
[00:47:10] Speaker F: This is very nice.
[00:47:15] Speaker B: I assume the group continues on. Anything else here?
[00:47:18] Speaker F: He's going to take a jar and collect a jar of the Waters gonna hold it as she's walking and let the rain fall into it.
[00:47:25] Speaker B: Okay. It takes a while. The rain is mild and it never really fills. But you can have a small glass jar because that feels like the sort of thing Greta would have. And you can put like 4 teaspoons of Foonfian rain.
[00:47:42] Speaker F: Cool.
[00:47:44] Speaker B: And Greta, for your own record, now you have a jar that essentially has one casting of minor restoration.
Basically, you have a potion of minor restoration.
[00:48:00] Speaker A: Could I at some point flag Tello over?
[00:48:05] Speaker B: Yes, absolutely.
[00:48:08] Speaker A: Clocked that conversation with him. Maybe poisoning arrows at some point. And he's very much looking a type, I'm assuming right now. Unless he's traveling.
[00:48:20] Speaker B: He do be.
[00:48:22] Speaker A: And I. And I would like to, like, walk up to him, kind of pat him on the back and give him a very obvious, like, up, down, and be like, so what do you do for work, huh?
[00:48:34] Speaker B: Well, I travel around with these guys.
[00:48:38] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, but we all before we don't.
[00:48:41] Speaker B: Yes, I'm a bit of a. Bit of a diplomat for hire, you could say. I previously corrid business around.
I facilitated deals and, you know, sort of a silver tongue.
[00:48:59] Speaker A: So DM having experience with this and part taking in a thieves can't. If you could.
[00:49:08] Speaker B: You do speak the language you want to.
[00:49:10] Speaker A: Is this keeping in track with like, you know, you also don't say we're going to rob.
[00:49:15] Speaker B: Insight check. Shelby, give me an insight check, please. Also, could you do me a favor and could you tell me I made a roll for him? Could you tell me Tello's perception modifier y24. Holy crap.
Again, tell Undar is not plus 5.
Interesting. Thank you, Greta. Tell Undar is not like a notorious figure in the circles you've run in, but you have heard of him. And this is tracking with what you have heard, which is mildly, that he is an individual who has been associated with figures of power from your circles and that he worked at different times as someone who bartered deals and facilitated trades. And so there is some direct truth in what he's saying, that he is. He has very much been a diplomat for hire also. He's been a diplomat of more extralegal activities. But that he is very much what he describes himself to be. Well, but like a bit legal, a bit extra legal, a bit of both.
He's the man. He's not necessarily. And you haven't heard him to be an individual of violence or necessarily a smuggling individual, but in the past, you've heard that he's been the mouthpiece for a couple Powerful figures. And that keeps in track with what he's saying.
And as you're talking, he kind of gives an eye to some of your earrings. And then you clock. You watch him very quickly scan your hand, pause on the ring for a moment, and then keep walking and listening to you.
[00:50:49] Speaker A: Cool, cool. Filed it away.
I'm going to just start, you know, walking and just continuously sizing these people up quietly.
[00:50:59] Speaker B: You take two or three strides further forward, and you hear he says in Thieves Camp to you, which is, I think, the first time he's been used in this campaign. And suddenly you all hear Tello begin speaking in a language that none of you all speak. And he is it a language or.
[00:51:14] Speaker A: Is it a code? Zach, what does this sound like?
[00:51:16] Speaker E: Well, pig Latin.
[00:51:18] Speaker B: It is in 5e. It is supposed to be a language which doesn't make a lick of sense.
I consider it like a coded way of speaking, but so it is like Pig Latin adjacent, but so it's. It's. It's like a code, essentially.
And I have not fully deciphered out off the top of my head what that should sound like, but in a series of shorthand, relying on. On near similar proxies of words and specific choices. Like, it is a lot of code in that. Like, it's like shorthand words, like regional dialect, so all words kind of shortened and in a more specific way than just like, no vowels or something, but similar words are used to represent other words. And in this chopped, broken code speak that no one else here is very familiar with. But, you know. Well, he essentially says, are you familiar with brass?
[00:52:16] Speaker A: I'm going to. I stop walking. And I. And I very much do like, a full turn. Adam. And it's not aggressive, but it's like, I see you.
[00:52:26] Speaker B: He continues walking all the way up next to you until he's next to you and just takes a relaxed stance.
[00:52:31] Speaker A: And in Thieves can't also back to him and be like, you know, who is it? It's a very widespread medal.
[00:52:41] Speaker B: He nods, and then he just says, well, we've left in good standing, so I think we are friends of friends.
[00:52:55] Speaker A: No friend in need is a friend. BRANDON DE.
[00:52:59] Speaker B: He nods and he just finishes with that. Let us know if you ever need a hand. And when he says hand, he just gives you a little wink and keeps walking.
Roger, Roger, Roger, Roger.
Cool.
[00:53:18] Speaker A: I'm going to fade back, and then I'm going to whisper something thieves can't to Craig.
[00:53:24] Speaker B: So Craig, you hear them have that conversation on those back. And then Shelby steps back to you and starts whispering to you in that. Whatever.
[00:53:30] Speaker A: It was Lagadi.
[00:53:36] Speaker C: How did you know?
[00:53:38] Speaker A: Cool.
I'm gonna keep walking.
[00:53:44] Speaker C: And then. No, no, no, no. You thought that was it. No. Craig follows behind.
[00:53:48] Speaker E: Oh, no.
[00:53:49] Speaker D: Goes, you've got a new friend, buddy.
[00:53:53] Speaker B: Congrats.
[00:53:54] Speaker C: Am I gonna meet a lot of guys? And he's just speaking gibberish, but he thinks that this is something.
[00:54:01] Speaker F: Dude, Craig is in on the bit.
[00:54:03] Speaker B: He's always ready to go.
[00:54:05] Speaker A: I'm like, how?
[00:54:07] Speaker B: How?
[00:54:07] Speaker A: I've never heard such vile and reprehensible words escape polite company.
[00:54:20] Speaker B: Craig.
[00:54:20] Speaker C: Craig goes.
[00:54:21] Speaker A: I need. I need.
I press the digitative part.
[00:54:28] Speaker B: Do you have that spell?
[00:54:30] Speaker A: Yes, I do.
[00:54:31] Speaker B: Okay, so you all watch this. Shelby, what does your prestigitation look like?
It's.
[00:54:38] Speaker A: It's musically based, but it's not like, it's much more rough. It's, you know, it's all ad lit. It's five. It's like jazz. And so in this moment, it's just like a snap, snap, slap.
[00:54:51] Speaker B: It's like right between us, just like a. And then soon there's just like a little of magic. And then. Oh, yeah, you guys can smell a fart.
And the five individuals go walking quietly through the landscape. And Craig goes.
And Terence is just in front of you all. And you all walk until the fields disappear and the fungi persist and the fungus continues. I mean, millions of fungi are passing fields of fungi interspersing the vegetation, but the vegetation begins to grow up, where as you guys begin to raise in elevation as the topography lifts, you guys begin essentially walking up high hillside that's leading toward the base of. Wow. That is the most, like, terminally pointed, thin mountain you have ever like, it's just so thin for a mountain. Like, it just comes up to this, like, ridiculous point. It gets so high so fast.
[00:55:52] Speaker E: Is it fake?
[00:55:53] Speaker B: Huh?
[00:55:54] Speaker E: Is it fake?
[00:55:56] Speaker B: Inside on the mountain Metagame for me.
And as you guys get closer, trees begin to pop up, getting more common.
So those dense, whirling shrubs get more and more. They become a really large fixation of the landscape, and trees begin appearing in gullies and rills in between, where the folds of the landscape are leading to this narrow mountain. And eventually they start growing so dense around you that you're walking in a true forest landscape.
And there are a wide variety, but the three most common. You see, the first is this variety of really tall and thin, long, wispy trees with flexible, drooping branches that plume into these grand crowns that almost touch the ground like a weeping willow. But vastly exaggerated, just exploding around and just waving back and forth in the bridge.
The next are these tall trees with thin trunks that have these broad, shallow canopies.
If you guys know the, like, iconic acacia tree from Africa, it looks very much like that, but thinner and twisted.
Or from Minecraft, only their leaves are a variety of cool, like, pastel colors, and they catch the water from the misting rain and condensate it on the bottom.
And the third most common tree has this really thick, dense shape with knotted, swirling bark prone to strange nodding masses. And its canopy is wide and low. And most plays, you see it. It has no leaves, but every, like, 10th or 20th one will be covered in broad, dense, dark green leaves that are, like, ribbed at their edges and come off in little strips. And they have these very thick, dense veins going down the side. And all the leaves hang on in clumps in the trees.
As you're walking by, Boz, could you give me a nature check? Because you've explored this island before, I'd like to.
I'll say you can make a nature check as well. Sorry. Go ahead, Boz. What'd you say?
[00:57:59] Speaker A: I want to do that.
[00:58:00] Speaker B: Oh, what'd you say, Shelby?
[00:58:02] Speaker A: I'm gonna go. I'm gonna tap her on the shoulder. You know what all these are called?
[00:58:07] Speaker F: I don't want that.
[00:58:08] Speaker E: Wait, what did you say? Sorry, I didn't hear you.
[00:58:11] Speaker A: All this plant life, and I'm gonna.
[00:58:13] Speaker B: Do you.
[00:58:13] Speaker A: Do you know what these are called?
[00:58:19] Speaker E: Balls. Probably does.
[00:58:21] Speaker B: No, they're trees.
[00:58:21] Speaker A: And I'm gonna keep walking.
[00:58:24] Speaker B: Boz, you said you got a 13.
[00:58:26] Speaker C: That was a good one.
[00:58:27] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:58:28] Speaker B: You don't know what this tree is.
[00:58:30] Speaker F: Ah, yeah, there's.
[00:58:35] Speaker B: A.
[00:58:35] Speaker E: Basically, like, can we try to make a nature check?
[00:58:39] Speaker B: Because both of you are ogbin and have been to this place. Oh, wait, no.
Yeah.
Anywho, I do a lot of reading.
[00:58:52] Speaker F: I do a lot of reading.
I'm joking. That's a joke.
[00:58:56] Speaker B: A joke of your rumor stuff does come from hags. I'll tell you what, if you make the most, I'll give you DC30. Nature check.
[00:59:04] Speaker F: Okay.
[00:59:05] Speaker E: Can I try DC30 as well?
[00:59:07] Speaker C: Cast guidance.
[00:59:09] Speaker B: You're also augment and have lived with hags. No, you know what?
Ro, go ahead.
[00:59:18] Speaker F: I'm going to use guidance.
[00:59:20] Speaker B: Ro, go ahead and make it.
[00:59:22] Speaker F: Sorry, what?
[00:59:28] Speaker B: Ro, go ahead and make an Aster Tech.
[00:59:30] Speaker E: As soon as I roll, you're gonna say something to me.
[00:59:34] Speaker B: Would never.
[00:59:40] Speaker F: It's a 30. Exactly.
[00:59:42] Speaker B: Are you crapping my pants?
[00:59:46] Speaker F: All right, I got a 17 and a 33 on guidance. And then my modifier is plus 10.
[00:59:52] Speaker B: That's.
[00:59:52] Speaker D: Zach's like, you guys can't know everything. And then Greta's like, are you sure about that?
[00:59:59] Speaker B: Are you sure about that?
What did you get?
[01:00:07] Speaker E: I got.
The moment I say it, you're gonna.
[01:00:12] Speaker B: I'm not gonna. I'm not gonna. Go ahead.
[01:00:16] Speaker E: What if I said I got a 29?
[01:00:18] Speaker B: You don't know.
So it just doesn't get old.
[01:00:28] Speaker E: No, I didn't get a 29.
I was just messy.
[01:00:32] Speaker B: Greta, you do. Dang it. You don't know what this tree is, but you know what that leaf is.
Because the Hags, for some reason, we were pesting them about things they know. They mentioned, you know, you don't know what this tree is, but you know what that leaf is because you know that those are not leaves.
You know that those are a small species of dragonal reptile.
They are leaf mimickers. And they are these colonial, highly colonial dragonoids that hang from trees and when disturbed, they will fly away.
And their mimicry is to look like plants. But they are a very. They are Yalabrin's possibly smallest kind of dragonoid. And they are. They're called virigia. V A R I G I A.
Wow, that's awesome. So if you disturb them, they'll all fly away.
[01:01:46] Speaker F: This is awful. But to add to the roleplay, to how I know this, they could be like a delicacy snack for the hags.
[01:01:56] Speaker B: Or maybe even better. They are a very valuable spell component opponent.
Their blood is very good for rituals.
[01:02:07] Speaker F: Did I know that they came from the last lands?
[01:02:13] Speaker B: Yes.
[01:02:14] Speaker F: Oh, cool.
[01:02:15] Speaker B: With a 30, I think you know how many bones they have in their body, but.
Yeah. So you know that if you disturb them, they, like, fly away.
[01:02:26] Speaker F: Don't want to disturb them.
[01:02:29] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:02:30] Speaker F: I mean, I tell that to Boz.
[01:02:33] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:02:38] Speaker F: Look, it's the. It's the vagarias. They're the little baby.
Baby dragons. And they pretend to look like leaves so they can hide from predators.
[01:02:49] Speaker D: I told you there were dragons here. I told you there were dragons here. What did I say?
[01:02:54] Speaker B: There's predators.
[01:02:58] Speaker F: They do that.
Why they do that?
[01:03:01] Speaker D: I knew it.
So there's.
[01:03:05] Speaker B: There's an image of them in Lauren reference.
[01:03:07] Speaker E: They're pretty.
[01:03:08] Speaker F: How did this get here?
[01:03:10] Speaker B: I don't know who the correct artist is for this, so I can't credit them.
[01:03:14] Speaker F: Oh, wow. Dude, that's a tattoo right there. That's awesome.
So cool.
[01:03:23] Speaker B: Wow. Wow.
[01:03:25] Speaker F: Okay, I go up and I look at One really closely, but I do my best not to disturb it.
[01:03:29] Speaker B: You get really close. Could you give me a stealth check? Greta?
[01:03:34] Speaker D: You need help, Greta, to do this. Do you need any help?
You want to get up like close, close.
[01:03:41] Speaker B: Oh, Abby's gnashing teeth and now she's on math 14.
Greta, you get really close. You get really close.
All the leaves fall off of the tree about 300 at once. Just fall and all the leaf ribs just splay out and they all glide down, but then get lift, which is physically impossible from gliding, but they're magical. And all the leaf ribs kind of wave and then they just.
And this huge wave of green. And as they do all their little like the stems separate as heads and do all these like little shrill like little as they fly away and they just lift off and disperse and start landing on other trees.
[01:04:31] Speaker F: Greta like goes like behind a rock. You hear Greta get the sound of like a 7 year old girl that is just like purely ecstatic. Like she like squeals like an enemy sound.
[01:04:44] Speaker B: We've all heard it. Yeah.
[01:04:47] Speaker C: Yep.
[01:04:48] Speaker B: Excellent.
And Greta, you'd never seen virigia alive, but there was a whole flock of virigia, not dead and crushed.
[01:05:02] Speaker F: Oh, I might cry for a second time.
[01:05:05] Speaker B: The party continues up the mountain face. I assume as you do the.
A mist begins rolling down the side of the mountain.
And it's much like the mist of the clouds above. It's thick and lightly cool and it has that coloration to it as if there's light coming from inside of it. It's pretty thick. It begins obscuring the landscape in front of you a little bit. And could I. Who here has a passive perception above 16 just. Ro. Okay. Excellent. Ro. As you all are walking, you feel a very light.
You feel the ground rumble very slightly.
[01:05:54] Speaker E: I. Because I'm so close to the ground, I bend down and put my ear to the ground.
[01:06:01] Speaker B: Okay, you all are walking. Ro suddenly stops and bends down and puts her ear to the ground. Ro, could you make a perception check for me?
[01:06:07] Speaker E: Yeah, that's gonna be.
[01:06:14] Speaker B: But know that she said perkipkin keck a seventh.
[01:06:16] Speaker F: I did not say that.
[01:06:19] Speaker B: Okay, forgiveth me. Yeah. The ground is like.
And then it stops.
[01:06:27] Speaker E: Are we on a slant at this point?
[01:06:29] Speaker B: Yes. You've been traveling a pretty intense slope for a while. Quads are burning. It's some intense lighting.
[01:06:36] Speaker E: Is it like rock face like stone or is it like soil or.
[01:06:40] Speaker B: It has gotten much more bare stone with swaths of soil because there's so many fewer grasses here. Because the trees are so much dense, they're blocking a lot of light. And you guys are in this weird kind of like, twilight where it's not quite that dark, but it looks like you're walking around an evening because that really gentle cloud, like a soft storm above you, is blocking a bunch of sunlight. And then the thick canopy blocks even more light. So you're in this kind of gray, liminal, lighter, or darker space, like you're under a heavy storm in the middle of a day.
And then the mist is making everything even darker. And you're walking along a lot of smooth stone with some soil patches in between, and still fungi growing everywhere off of everything, absorbing moisture.
[01:07:22] Speaker E: I stand up and I look at Terrence, or I can't say his name. We're going to call him Terrence.
And I look at him and I call out and I say, do you.
Is that normal?
[01:07:40] Speaker B: Is what normal?
[01:07:41] Speaker E: The rumbling. The ground. The ground is rumbling.
[01:07:46] Speaker B: I didn't know that.
I've never been up the mountain. I just. I live.
[01:07:52] Speaker A: I thought you were saying it's never been on the ground.
[01:07:56] Speaker B: That might also be true.
[01:07:58] Speaker E: Oh, yeah.
Is there ever.
Even if you haven't been on the mountain, have you ever seen, like, things fall from the mountain?
[01:08:09] Speaker B: No, I'm usually not this close.
[01:08:14] Speaker E: Is it still rumbling? Dm?
[01:08:16] Speaker B: No, it stopped.
[01:08:17] Speaker E: It stopped.
[01:08:18] Speaker B: It was like a rumble, and it stopped as the mist is rolling by. All of you. All. It smells good to all of you, but not all the same. Craig, you smell cat's perfume.
Greta, you smell that sort of really gummy granola hardened bread that your family that the small stars would bake roe. You smell uncinian honey bread. Boz, you smell some of the fruits of Agba. And Shelby, you smell some of the really fine wines that can be found in the establishment you frequent most at home.
[01:09:02] Speaker E: Why do I smell baked goods?
[01:09:04] Speaker F: Me too.
I smell the.
The dark grass cakes.
[01:09:10] Speaker E: I smell bread.
[01:09:13] Speaker F: Bread? Well, it's not quite a bread, but it's, like, made out of grain. I would call it in the bread family. But not good for sandwiches.
[01:09:20] Speaker E: No, like sweet bread dessert after you eat it.
[01:09:23] Speaker F: Oh, it is kind of sweet, but again, it's not quite bread.
[01:09:27] Speaker B: That's no problem, Landon. No problem. Craig, could you and Shelby, as the two individuals who are not focused on this conversation, could you give me perception checks?
[01:09:39] Speaker F: Sorry, Jackie.
[01:09:41] Speaker E: No, no.
[01:09:41] Speaker B: Hey, it's fun. Some other people are rolling. It's a good time.
[01:09:45] Speaker A: 23.
[01:09:46] Speaker B: Oh, crap. Dude, I think we've broken your curse.
[01:09:50] Speaker C: 9.
[01:09:51] Speaker B: Well, Craig, man, you haven't smelled that in a long time.
But Shelby, as you're standing there listening to everyone, you look further up the hill.
There's dark balls of shadow appearing and then disappearing. Appearing and disappearing. One of them moves up and down a little bit, and then it's like something rolling or bouncing far away on the hill.
It's really hard to see. It's like you're looking at an opaque silhouette behind the mist. Something circular, something far, kind of biggish moving down the mountain. But you don't hear any sound associated with it.
[01:10:44] Speaker A: So it looks like it's moving down the mountain. Is it in the direction that we're going? Multiple.
[01:10:51] Speaker B: They're like coming and going far away.
[01:10:57] Speaker A: Okay, about how far away?
[01:11:05] Speaker B: Well, pretty far. Except then you see, oh, there's like four or five coming right at you.
And yes, two are rolling down the hill of these opaque shadows that are kind of reflecting light a little. And then one or two are bounding or bouncing a little bit off of things. And they're coming your way. Oh, they're coming fairly quickly.
[01:11:26] Speaker A: There's a spell with a range of 120ft. Does that mean I could cast it at that spike?
[01:11:32] Speaker B: You could certainly try.
[01:11:34] Speaker A: I'd like to cast dancing lights.
[01:11:37] Speaker B: Excellent. Bubble of dancing lights.
[01:11:39] Speaker A: It's a cantrip.
[01:11:41] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:11:42] Speaker A: All right. And just kind of like has a, like five dots in a. I think I gotta keep them kind of close.
[01:11:51] Speaker B: What does it look like as you cast? What's your spellcasting look like?
[01:11:58] Speaker A: It's very rough and tumble. I didn't finish college.
He kind of just made.
[01:12:05] Speaker B: He's.
[01:12:06] Speaker A: He kind of scats a little and it's.
And they're like this.
[01:12:13] Speaker B: I love this character. Like five lights.
[01:12:15] Speaker C: Just.
[01:12:17] Speaker B: As all the lights out of your mouth and then again illuminating the landscape. Oh, the light begins immediately reflecting back off of you. And you see motion, wet motion. Big wet circle. And bounding out of the mist that you suddenly light up are four, about 10 foot across bubbles.
Just giant rolling bubbles. Perfectly spherical. Three are rolling down the mountainside, making this really weird hollow, like sound. And then two are.
And they're bouncing off of trees and rocks just flying toward you all down the mountainside pretty quick.
And now once Shelby cast that in the direction everyone can see it, it's coming fast. These big bubbles are coming at you.
[01:12:58] Speaker F: I am going to run towards a tree and I'm gonna get behind a tree and wrap myself around the tree.
[01:13:07] Speaker E: Wrap yourself around.
[01:13:08] Speaker F: I think I'm gonna hold on to the tree.
[01:13:10] Speaker B: Excellent. Craig, what you doing?
We'll just assume Boz does what you all do for now.
[01:13:18] Speaker D: What are you doing?
[01:13:21] Speaker C: I mean, these are like bubbles.
[01:13:24] Speaker B: Big bubbles.
[01:13:29] Speaker C: Get out of the way. But ready to pop them.
[01:13:34] Speaker B: Is there any specific action ready there or just kind of like.
[01:13:39] Speaker C: I. I get out my star splinter, and then I move to wherever Greta was to be close to her, to protect her.
[01:13:49] Speaker B: Okay, and you ready an attack for one of the bubbles.
Okay, so, Shelby, Greta runs behind a tree. You watch as Craig pulls out. Oh, that's the single most incredible item you've ever seen in your life. What is that? He pulls out a sword of pure platinum. Like, a short sword with, like, the blade is, like, the hilt is uniform with the blade, pure platinum. And the entire blade looks like. What are those Japanese bowls where they break them and then put them? Kitsune bowl. They put them back together with gold slivers in between. Except the slivers are like lapis lazuli of the broken platinum blade, and it's covered in, like, lapis lazuli, like, glyphs. Oh, that thing has to be ridiculously magical. And it is gorgeous. And he just pulls it out in his full plate, runs to the tree, and gets in front of Greta, readying an attack. Ro, what do you do?
[01:14:39] Speaker E: I don't. I guess I see it, and I kind of go towards where everyone else is going. I don't know.
[01:14:46] Speaker B: Okay. Okay.
[01:14:48] Speaker E: Can I do an insight check to see if they're bad?
[01:14:50] Speaker B: Oh, no, dude. Shelby, what do you do?
[01:14:54] Speaker A: Nothing on this island has hurt me yet, you know?
[01:14:57] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:14:58] Speaker A: And the water that we've been in, the rains. The rain's been great. The mushroom's been great. The mist smells great. It's a bubble, I think I kind of, like, get into a power stance, and I prepare to dive into it.
[01:15:14] Speaker B: Okay, excellent. So the three who ran. Greta, Craig, and Ro, could you give me dexterity saving throws?
And Shelby, as you stand in the way of one. You don't have to do anything. It's coming at you. You are in the path. Can I get dexterity saving pass.
[01:15:31] Speaker E: I got a nat 20, so that's going to be a 25.
[01:15:35] Speaker B: Wow. This is. Man. Jackie, your role for the last, like, nine sessions has been nuts.
[01:15:41] Speaker F: I got an eight.
[01:15:43] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:15:45] Speaker C: Craig got a ten.
[01:15:47] Speaker B: That's about right.
And then you can also. Thank you. Colton, you can also. This might actually be really good timing. Colton, you can. Craig, you can go ahead and roll the hit as well for me. And roll damage. Since you're ready to attack, let Me know what? You get on your roll to hit and on your damage.
So what happens is the following. Greta runs to a tree and gets behind it and covers herself up. Ro, you, like, dart down behind a large stone on the mountain face. Shelby, you squat down in a horse stance and get ready to dive. Craig, you start running toward a tree and pull out your sword, running to defend Greta as one of the barrels just. Or one of the bubbles hits off a rock and goes flying over you guys. And then down the mountainside. Two more down the mountainside. Hollow, huh?
[01:16:40] Speaker F: Do they, like. They're not like a bubble has air inside? Do they look like they. Like they're hollow?
[01:16:46] Speaker B: Yeah, they look like big bubbles. Another. The one that's coming straight at Shelby is just down the mountain at it. Craig, what'd you get on your roll? The hit and on your damage.
[01:16:56] Speaker C: So I rolled a hit, and I'm gonna cast guidance on myself as well.
[01:17:00] Speaker B: That is not how an attack rolls works. You can cast. You can cast guidance on ability checks that are not internal, but you cannot cast attack rolls or just attack rolls. So it's just your role plus strength and proficiency.
It's just your role with your to hit bonus. But also, it's a bu. So not I. Okay. You said that like it was a low roll. I mean, I'm sure it was for you, because your modifier is huge, but. Yeah. Yeah. It's a big bubble. You hit it, then go ahead and roll damage for me. Oh, gotcha. Gotcha.
[01:17:38] Speaker A: Just picturing spongebob when they're like, pop the bubble.
[01:17:42] Speaker E: Pop the bubble.
[01:17:47] Speaker B: I have faffing about for this.
[01:17:52] Speaker C: So for the damage, it's 1D6 plus 1D6, and then that's it. Right.
[01:18:01] Speaker B: Well, and then star splinter is a plus two sword. So it's 2D6 plus two, plus your strength, which is plus five. So it's 2D6 plus seven.
[01:18:15] Speaker C: That's 11.
[01:18:17] Speaker B: Okay. Craig, you turn, and you just. And as you cut the blade through, the bubble's coming right at you. You don't get out of the way, and the bubble just pops around you, and that warm mist falls down on you. It smells nice.
Shelby, you squat, and you dive in. Yeah. Okay. You all watch as the bubbles, just, like the bubbles roll by. Most of you. Craig, you pop the bubble, and then Shelby just.
And he hits a full dive, and it's this. It's this incredible moment of physics because he. As he dives into the bubble, it does not pop. It just fully absorbs him. Yeah, but it Absorbs him as it's rolling at about 40 miles an hour. So it's going, and he just. So he dives forward, and he just straight into the bubble. But his forward momentum up the hill is completely swallowed by the momentum of this object, which. The moment it absorbs him. You all watch as Shelby turns into a blur of linear motion upward and then suddenly becomes a ball of color within the ball, rolling with it. So Shelby just.
And then just the bowl, the ball just.
And Shelby's gone.
Just.
And the bull just down the mountain.
[01:19:38] Speaker C: Is that it?
[01:19:40] Speaker B: Shelby's in the bubble, flying away from you all at 40 miles an hour down the mountain. Shelby, you're fine. You're in a completely protective bubble. You are taking no damage, but you are flying around this boat, just rolling. Could you give me a constitution? Saving throw. The world is gone. All that's left are smearing colors and the sensation of force that's not strong enough to hurt you. The world is just smearing by you.
[01:20:07] Speaker A: That's going to be a 13.
[01:20:09] Speaker B: Okay.
You get swallowed up by this bubble launch down the mountain. The world becomes smears of colors. You just.
And the vomit, like, just paints the inside of the bubble. And now you're just slapping around in your own vomit in the bubble.
You can't cast it right now, but at the end, you'll be able to. And you just go launching down the mountain, getting splashed by your own up Chuck, just flying down. You really. That'll be a problem for later. Shelby. You can't even experience that right now. You just felt sensation voiding tension. And now back to madness. And Shel, Shelby's gone down the mountain. Just.
[01:20:52] Speaker A: Just one thought. Like, going down the mountain is. Is just like in this brief moment, whenever this. The rolling stops before it returns again, it's like, my uncle can't hear about this.
[01:21:04] Speaker B: And then it just goes right back to it. You just tell yourself he's too far away. He's too far away.
And Shelby, you roll, and then you roll and then you roll. But then when you're done rolling, you roll. And then after that, you roll, and then you do some rolling. And then you hit the bottom of the mountain base. Like, three hours of walking back, and the bubble hits a big rock and pops, finally having taken enough bludgeoning damage. And then you just.
Down the mountain, covered in your own vomit. You just sit up in the world. I mean, you're lost for two or three minutes, and then you finally right yourself, and you feel nauseous.
[01:21:42] Speaker A: That's the price of science.
[01:21:45] Speaker B: And those people you met are, like, three hours up the mountain that way.
[01:21:50] Speaker A: I can't even see them. I'm gonna try to find my way back to camp. I don't know where they're going.
[01:21:54] Speaker B: Okay.
And as Shelby just goes, well, that's how it is. And starts getting up and walking back to camp, I assume just scatting the vomit off of himself.
Fungi.
[01:22:09] Speaker A: Because he's ashamed, he lets him linger for a bit.
[01:22:14] Speaker B: Back up the mountain.
You guys are. Terrence is floating there, and then you guys hear in your head, okay, so I probably need to go get him.
He's gonna need some help.
But if you guys will just go up around the mountain till it gets really thick on the other side, follow the biggest river. It'll flow out of the mountain, and it'll go to a waterfall. And the guys around there also trust the fungus.
[01:22:48] Speaker E: Always.
[01:22:49] Speaker F: Bird, are you going to bring Shelby?
[01:22:55] Speaker B: I mean, maybe.
[01:22:58] Speaker F: Okay.
[01:22:59] Speaker E: Okay.
[01:23:01] Speaker B: Hope you find your dad. And he goes floating down the mountain, and he just goes puffing down the mountain, just silent.
[01:23:11] Speaker E: Yes, yes.
[01:23:12] Speaker A: Colton season now.
[01:23:14] Speaker B: And he just goes silently floating down the mountain. And Shelby's gone. And Terrence went with him. Just gone. And.
[01:23:24] Speaker E: Come back if you guys can.
[01:23:28] Speaker B: Colton, thank you for being on the podcast.
Thank you. We love your character, oh, so much. We hope to have you as a guest again in the future someday, maybe.
[01:23:40] Speaker A: Yeah, I'd love that.
[01:23:42] Speaker B: Maybe we'd get to see more of Shelby. He's wonderful.
And one way or another, I mean, no pressure and no obligation, but I have a feeling we'll have more of the adventures of Shelby at some point in our future. If nothing else, Drow live a really long time. So true.
Maybe not this drow.
[01:24:00] Speaker A: Thank you for having me.
I really, you know, y'all are, like, creating something here, so it always feels very.
I always feel very honored to be included in that whenever I get a chance to, you know, the table is something special. You don't let anyone there, you know?
[01:24:17] Speaker B: So.
[01:24:17] Speaker A: Hey, I'm gonna go now, so go.
[01:24:21] Speaker B: Take care of your prego wife.
[01:24:23] Speaker E: Yeah. Bye, Colton.
[01:24:25] Speaker B: We'll see you later.
[01:24:25] Speaker E: It's always a pleasure playing with you.
[01:24:28] Speaker C: Always nice to meet you.
[01:24:29] Speaker E: Nice to meet you, Colton.
[01:24:31] Speaker B: It was.
[01:24:32] Speaker A: And also, it was so exciting to play with Micah and Landon also. I was like, not that you, Abby, or Jackie are not special in your own right, but, you know, I got the full fun guy experience.
[01:24:45] Speaker B: Yeah, you've been listening to the fun guys for, like, a year and a half now, and you finally got to Play with them.
[01:24:49] Speaker A: So I've completed my collection.
[01:24:51] Speaker B: Yeah.
I should be proud of you. All right, well, we'll see. We'll see you around sometime, Colton. Thank you for playing.
So Shelby's gone.
Man, I could not be more pleased with Shelby just being thrown into a box. Such good timing.
Greta or Abby? Actually, not Greta. Could you give a.
Posthumous is the wrong word. A. What's a word for what comes after A? Not retro. It's the opposite of retrospective.
[01:25:30] Speaker E: Retroactive.
[01:25:31] Speaker F: Proactive.
[01:25:32] Speaker E: It's.
[01:25:33] Speaker B: Proactive is retrospective.
[01:25:34] Speaker E: Yes.
[01:25:35] Speaker B: Could you give a latent retrospective insight check for Tello, and if he's not proficient, you can add this on based on everything Tello's been able to piece together.
I'm rolling one for tell a very, very high D.C. and you can do insight or you can rumors. Either one, he'll be proficient.
This is gonna be very high D.C. i don't think he'll be able to.
[01:25:57] Speaker F: Get it, but insight or rumors.
[01:26:14] Speaker B: Also, Micah, you've been a troop.
Neither here nor there. Just appreciate you.
[01:26:20] Speaker C: I appreciate you. You put a lot of work into this stuff.
[01:26:24] Speaker B: Thank you.
[01:26:25] Speaker C: I'm also so excited to meet Rose. Dad.
I really, really, really, really, really hope.
[01:26:34] Speaker B: He could be dead.
What'd you.
[01:26:40] Speaker E: Micah, I was gonna tell you one thing we forgot to tell you in the recap is we prank called Viskit.
[01:26:46] Speaker B: Oh, yeah.
[01:26:47] Speaker C: No, you're kidding. Tell me right now.
[01:26:49] Speaker E: No, I did ro prank called Biscuit.
[01:26:54] Speaker C: Only right now, we prank called it. No, I.
[01:27:01] Speaker B: Tell me again. The same thing again.
[01:27:03] Speaker E: I disguised my voice, and I prank called Biscuit and basically told him that Lashla was 21, not vibing or something. Like I was trying to make him think that Lashla was not on his side.
And then I hung up.
[01:27:23] Speaker B: Okay. I made this DC20. Holy crap.
[01:27:25] Speaker E: Anyway, that's so unlikely. Oh, heck, yeah.
[01:27:29] Speaker B: Well, maybe don't. After Shelby goes whisked away down the mountain, Tello, there's like, a long. How does everyone react as Shelby's just very suddenly gone?
[01:27:37] Speaker E: Rose screams.
[01:27:41] Speaker C: I'm, like, sad.
[01:27:44] Speaker B: Oh, and before. Before Terence leaves, he'll say, like, he's gonna be okay. I just gotta go get him anyway. But, yeah, okay.
[01:27:51] Speaker F: He's gonna be okay.
What?
[01:27:53] Speaker B: I couldn't hear you.
And then he says the thing about, bye, buddies. Hope you find your dad.
And there's like, a weird, long pause. And then Tello goes, okay. You guys want to know something insane?
[01:28:11] Speaker E: Yeah. Always.
[01:28:13] Speaker C: You dated his sister?
[01:28:15] Speaker B: No. But statistically speaking, no. That guy on his. On his left hand, his beautiful finger he had a ring.
Very few people have, Mary and. Whoa. Could you give me a history check? You're the only person here who can make it with your king mind.
[01:28:38] Speaker C: Abby, that was funny.
[01:28:41] Speaker F: Oh, thanks.
[01:28:42] Speaker B: Hold on.
[01:28:43] Speaker E: I'd like to do it.
[01:28:44] Speaker B: That guy was married.
[01:28:46] Speaker C: That doesn't happen anymore.
[01:28:48] Speaker E: 22.
[01:28:51] Speaker B: That's not high enough rock. So don't worry about it. But Tello just goes, that guy had a brass ring with a hand holding a chalice on it.
I only. I only know of one other person with that ring.
I heard a rumor forever ago that Demian has a nephew.
Guys, I think that guy was related to the. To dim them.
Oh.
[01:29:24] Speaker F: Wow.
[01:29:25] Speaker C: You need to return him.
[01:29:27] Speaker E: They're like, total opposites, right?
[01:29:31] Speaker B: I mean, this can't be true.
[01:29:34] Speaker E: I mean, I guess I could.
[01:29:35] Speaker B: Oh, that's crazy.
[01:29:38] Speaker C: I wonder if he's lost. Maybe he really did.
[01:29:41] Speaker E: He's definitely lost. Craig.
[01:29:43] Speaker B: I hurt forever ago in the highest circles of la Palm over that Timnin has a secret relative, a younger relative, and that he's very protective and, like, you know, like.
[01:29:55] Speaker E: Like Timnin's very protective of his neck.
[01:29:58] Speaker B: That's what I heard rumors confirm. I've heard a lot of rumors that have proved false in the past, but I've heard that. And, like, that's crazy.
[01:30:06] Speaker E: Hey. Hey.
[01:30:08] Speaker B: Hello.
[01:30:09] Speaker E: Yeah, tell us.
[01:30:12] Speaker B: I'm tired.
[01:30:14] Speaker E: Should I. Should I call him? Should I call him? Alaska.
[01:30:20] Speaker B: Are you asking me to play pause? Are you asking everyone else?
[01:30:24] Speaker E: I accidentally was saying boss, but I was talking to Tello.
[01:30:27] Speaker B: I mean, I don't know.
[01:30:29] Speaker E: I mean, we're. We're on good terms with feminine.
[01:30:31] Speaker B: This. I heard this secret was, like, a big deal. This is like.
[01:30:34] Speaker E: But, like, maybe he's like, for the.
[01:30:36] Speaker B: Guy who keeps all the secrets. I don't know.
[01:30:37] Speaker E: But maybe he's looking for his nephew. I mean, this guy's been shipwrecked here.
[01:30:45] Speaker C: Or maybe. Maybe he was trying to get away from his uncle.
[01:30:52] Speaker B: I don't know.
[01:30:53] Speaker C: I don't know. I say it's none of our business, and we stay out of it.
[01:30:57] Speaker E: We're cool, though, with Thimn. And I always, like.
[01:31:03] Speaker F: That'S true. What if he's not cool with Sim? Then?
[01:31:07] Speaker C: So I say that's a family business matter.
Family, personal stuff. I said, keep it in our minds if thim's ever like, yo, you ever seen my nephew? Or like, Shelby's ever, like.
But I say we stay out of it because I don't think that we want to cause any more trouble.
[01:31:30] Speaker E: We could.
[01:31:30] Speaker C: Dude, we could Totally. Call Shelby and be like, yo, you Thimman's nephew, though.
[01:31:35] Speaker B: Except we can't because. Colton.
[01:31:37] Speaker C: That's true.
Zach, you could totally.
[01:31:39] Speaker E: What you say, Abby?
[01:31:41] Speaker B: You guys can't because call Shelby. You guys can't interact with not.
[01:31:47] Speaker E: He's. He's throwing up right now.
[01:31:50] Speaker B: Characters who can't respond the same way that Janice can only be magically called sometimes. We can't. You gotta respect players autonomy over the characters.
[01:31:58] Speaker F: I love Janice.
[01:32:05] Speaker B: Being forgotten. Going, Janice is so shiny.
[01:32:13] Speaker C: You know how, like, old ladies kind of get obsessed with, like, young people sometimes?
[01:32:18] Speaker F: What, like Prince?
[01:32:21] Speaker C: Exactly.
[01:32:25] Speaker B: Two today, guys. Two.
[01:32:26] Speaker E: Rub was still, like, thinking this over and she's like. I mean, it would give us like a. It would give us like an excuse to call them.
[01:32:34] Speaker C: Then why would we run people you miss?
[01:32:39] Speaker B: I love this conversation of Ro being like, what should I do? And Craig being like, not that. And then Rob being like, yeah, yeah, I should do that.
[01:32:50] Speaker E: I could just ask him like, hey, have you lost someone recently and you haven't been able to find them?
[01:33:00] Speaker C: Puts both hands on Rose shoulders, looks her in the eyes and says, ro Thimnin or your dad? Pick one. Let's go.
[01:33:09] Speaker E: I don't know my dad. And.
[01:33:15] Speaker C: Feminine is not your dad. Is that what you said?
[01:33:20] Speaker B: Tello just doubles over and laughs just like that. Like Santa Claus.
[01:33:29] Speaker F: Tell her.
[01:33:29] Speaker B: Just doubles over, goes, oh, Merry Christmas.
[01:33:37] Speaker E: What time is it?
[01:33:38] Speaker B: Dm, we have stretched this single French people speak funny joke for three years now. It's wild.
Sorry. All French people everywhere, Ro. It's like. It's like 4:40 something. So like it's getting toward evening, but you notice that the evening does not come as quickly here as it did in everywhere else.
[01:34:02] Speaker E: I feel like I do things that I shouldn't do when Landon leaves for a second, so maybe I shouldn't do this.
[01:34:10] Speaker F: We can call him later.
This information is not going to leave our heads.
[01:34:18] Speaker E: Okay, you're wrong.
[01:34:19] Speaker F: You have a really smart mind.
[01:34:21] Speaker E: But if we do it, if we do it. If we do it, I want to be the one to call him.
[01:34:28] Speaker C: Absolutely not together, guys.
[01:34:32] Speaker E: Not.
[01:34:32] Speaker C: I don't need to call.
[01:34:35] Speaker F: Okay?
[01:34:36] Speaker C: We're all just all together. Do what he does.
[01:34:41] Speaker F: Oh, yeah. Yep, yep, yep. We're filing it.
[01:34:44] Speaker E: What are you guys doing?
[01:34:45] Speaker B: We're filing also information in our head.
[01:34:49] Speaker E: Dm, can I retroactively? Did Ro gather that the magic he was doing was barred like bardic?
[01:34:56] Speaker B: Oh, yeah. All day long. That was clearly a bard.
[01:34:58] Speaker E: Okay, yeah. Cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool, cool.
[01:35:02] Speaker B: Now it's fun to say that this episode was not named Bard's Ballad for Rogue, but.
[01:35:05] Speaker E: Yeah, I know. No, I gathered that when he started.
[01:35:09] Speaker B: Singing, but you know what I mean.
[01:35:11] Speaker E: But when he started yelling for Terrence. Yeah.
[01:35:14] Speaker F: I say we keep walking, guys. I say we keep on keeping on.
[01:35:17] Speaker E: Fine. Fine.
[01:35:22] Speaker C: Never going to hold me down. No, never going to.
[01:35:26] Speaker B: And you can just keep walking up the mountain.
[01:35:28] Speaker E: Are there any more? Are there still smells of good.
[01:35:32] Speaker B: Excuse me. Oh, yeah. The mist has persisted, and it's very pleasant smelling.
But the rumbling stopped long ago. And there've been no more bubbles.
No, I don't know that you'd know that. We'll move on.
[01:35:44] Speaker E: What? No, I want to make the check.
[01:35:47] Speaker B: Anyway, as you guys. Okay. You can make it.
[01:35:50] Speaker E: Okay. No, no, I'm not going to continue.
[01:35:53] Speaker B: The mountain, the mist is getting warmer. Not hot, but just. It goes from very lightly warm to kind of warm.
[01:36:02] Speaker F: Did you say that it's, like, not quite warm, maybe, like, kind of lightly warm and then, like, very warm.
[01:36:10] Speaker B: Then there's a dragon. And as you guys.
As you guys hike a little further up. First of all, bro, your quads are okay. It's hard, but you are not having to stop that. Working out is paying off. How many days do you have now?
[01:36:27] Speaker E: 78.
[01:36:29] Speaker B: You can add on three more. It's been three more days of working out with Craig.
I told you we'd revisit this at 100. Don't let me forget.
[01:36:36] Speaker E: Yeah.
[01:36:38] Speaker B: So you guys keep moving up the mountain, and the mountain is starting to have cracks in it. The ground is getting. So here's what's happening. You're getting less and less soil. Everything's turning into more and more stone. Landon, welcome back. Shelby got.
Oh, sorry.
Landon, welcome back. Shelby got wrapped up in a giant bubble and thrown down the mountain. He's okay, but he's gone now.
[01:37:04] Speaker D: Oh, no.
[01:37:05] Speaker B: And gave you the rest of the directions to go. But went back to check on.
[01:37:13] Speaker D: Is that what that rumble does?
[01:37:15] Speaker B: Yes. Also, you guys may have figured out that he might be related secretly to Thimn.
[01:37:22] Speaker F: It might be.
[01:37:24] Speaker E: Wants to call Thimnin, but everyone said not to right now. But I want to be the one to call him.
[01:37:31] Speaker B: You guys are hiking up the mountain and the soils are getting less and less so. The. The landscape is becoming increasingly cragulous. Just more and more lean rocks.
But it's also getting wetter. There's more moisture clinging to stone and wrapping around the base of trees that are growing at more and more intense angles and getting less common now you're being able to see through the canopy almost kind of constantly. And there's that like. But the light above is getting darker and darker because you're getting closer and closer to the center of this gentle storm, as it were.
And as you guys are moving upward, the stone on the side of the mountain is beginning to have fissures in it like cracks. And the fog is growing thicker. And it's not hot at all, but it's now consistently warm. Still pleasant, but warm. And Craig, could you give me. Could everybody give me a drum roll?
Craig, I'd like you to make a stone cutting check for me. It's that time.
[01:38:34] Speaker C: Like a.
I will pull up my paper. Now you stare at it as I do the check.
Ah, yes.
[01:38:48] Speaker B: I love. This is why I love playing D and D with people. Because I never planned at the beginning of this campaign that, like, stone cutting checks were going to become one of the most important things about this campaign.
[01:38:55] Speaker C: 23.
[01:38:56] Speaker B: 23. Oh, my God. Red.
Okay, Craig, the steam is escaping the.
[01:39:05] Speaker C: Mountain because it's a volcano that's happening.
[01:39:08] Speaker B: Above is being brewed in the bottom, and that is what a volcano does. But here's the thing, Craig, everything's wrong if steam does not come out of a volcano, only if there's water deposits. And if steam comes out of a volcano, it's like lethally hot. And this is super not. So that's wrong. And then if it were a volcano, there'd be smoke somewhere, and there's none. On top of that, as you're looking around, all of the stone here is wrong. There's no obsidian, there's no metamorphic rock. There's no. There's no lava rock. Nothing about this is volcanic. But everything about this mountain is behaving like a volcano. So now, Craig, you're going to make a check I've never had you make before. Now I need you to make an arcana check because now that you're magical, you get to make a magic check based off of your rock check. So could you give me an arcana check?
[01:40:02] Speaker F: Awesome.
[01:40:02] Speaker C: Negative one. An arcana.
[01:40:05] Speaker B: So what you're gonna do is you're gonna roll the die and then you're gonna add your modifier onto it.
You can do this.
What'd you get?
[01:40:15] Speaker C: I got a zero.
[01:40:21] Speaker E: So sorry, I didn't mean to lie.
[01:40:25] Speaker D: Can I guidance him just so he doesn't get zero? Can I, Can I do that?
[01:40:29] Speaker C: Can I use inspiration?
[01:40:30] Speaker B: I mean, of course. It's your volition.
[01:40:32] Speaker E: Oh, yeah.
[01:40:37] Speaker C: It'S a seven.
[01:40:40] Speaker E: It's better than zero.
[01:40:42] Speaker C: When it comes to stones, Craig's like, 1723. When it comes to anything else, he's like, thank God it's zero.
[01:40:53] Speaker B: Craig, as you look at the mountain, that probably means something, but no, he's gonna do.
[01:40:59] Speaker C: He's learned.
[01:41:00] Speaker B: Okay. Yeah, Sorry.
[01:41:02] Speaker C: Hello, fellow people. What does that mean?
Point.
[01:41:09] Speaker B: And Craig then explains all his insights about how this is like how a volcano with water and it behaves, except it's all too mild and, like, the rock is wrong. So, like, it's like this thing is like a. Like a magic volcano, but too mild and non lethal and weird and magic and too sad.
[01:41:27] Speaker C: I am just.
[01:41:29] Speaker F: Can I make an arcana check?
[01:41:30] Speaker E: I know the ego shot, it's going.
[01:41:33] Speaker B: To be really high. And not just because it's repeated, because it's literally different for y'all. But. Yeah, yeah, you can.
[01:41:38] Speaker E: We even.
Is it even possible to get it?
[01:41:42] Speaker B: Yes, it's possible. Okay, I'm gonna make it a25.dc for both of you.
[01:41:47] Speaker E: Okay. That's.
[01:41:48] Speaker B: Which, let's be honest, given you guys, probably doesn't mean much.
Hey, the thing to focus on, Micah, is you open this door, think back to that 23.
We don't see the 7, we only see the 23.
[01:42:04] Speaker F: I got a natural 20.
[01:42:08] Speaker B: But I'm very happy for you, my player.
[01:42:10] Speaker E: I. Go ahead, Abby.
[01:42:13] Speaker F: That's going to make it a 34.
[01:42:17] Speaker D: Ow.
[01:42:19] Speaker B: Your arcana modifier is a 14.
[01:42:22] Speaker F: Yeah.
[01:42:23] Speaker D: Ow.
[01:42:24] Speaker E: How?
[01:42:25] Speaker B: Expertise.
[01:42:26] Speaker F: Yes.
[01:42:28] Speaker B: You have a plus four in intelligence.
[01:42:30] Speaker F: I have a plus six. In intelligence. I have a plus four.
[01:42:36] Speaker B: Wait, not that I don't believe you. Wait, What?
[01:42:41] Speaker E: My modifiers. Plus 13. Dang.
[01:42:46] Speaker B: So.
Oh, that's right. Because you started with 20s in wisdom and intelligence. Because I should have never let you do that. And then when you took your bonus score from the Wellspring, you didn't put it in your casting ability, you put it in your stat ability.
[01:43:02] Speaker F: I. What do you mean?
[01:43:03] Speaker B: Like, you didn't put it in wisdom? Because that's what you cast from. You put it in intelligence so you could get higher roles.
Game respects game. I mean, she specked into it.
[01:43:17] Speaker E: Let's go, Abby.
[01:43:18] Speaker B: Greta with a 34.
[01:43:21] Speaker E: And I got a 24. So I was one off.
[01:43:24] Speaker B: Yeah, I don't. I mean, not to ruin that for you. I don't think anything else matters now. Yeah, with a 34, Greta. That now makes that the all time record for accidental adventures.
[01:43:37] Speaker C: Oh, my gosh.
[01:43:39] Speaker F: Really?
That's the highest I can get?
[01:43:44] Speaker E: Why did I think one of us rolled a 36 for something.
[01:43:47] Speaker B: I was thinking 36 for something.
[01:43:50] Speaker D: I don't think that happened.
[01:43:51] Speaker E: That sounds like someone added on guidance and someone got a 36. I could be wrong.
[01:43:57] Speaker B: I keep stats for Yalls campaign.
[01:43:59] Speaker F: I also.
[01:43:59] Speaker B: I'm not gonna get a super stuck on this, but I have the records.
Has the highest with a 38.
[01:44:09] Speaker E: 38.
[01:44:10] Speaker B: It was a nature.
[01:44:11] Speaker E: I knew there was one with guidance.
[01:44:13] Speaker B: It was a natural and baric inspiration. So it had all the buffs. So with the highest natural role of the campaign. But that's still your all time record, Greta. 34.
[01:44:22] Speaker F: Yeah.
[01:44:23] Speaker D: I didn't know I had the record.
[01:44:24] Speaker B: That's crazy, man. This is just so busted. But fun.
So Greta, here's how we're gonna flavor this. As you look at the mountainside, a little voice whispers knowledge in your ear as you just access a little bit of Iuni and wisdom for a moment. And it's not a voice with sound, just like knowledge whispered in your ear. It like appears in your mind and you don't see it, but everyone else can see out of the corner eyes as Greta's necklace very briefly kind of like lights up. And IUN just takes pleasure in your pleasure of the arcane for a moment and just whispers knowledge to you.
Man, you have an awesome character. This is. This is beautiful character. C And Greta, you don't.
You don't get what I was planning to give you. You don't get an a basic understanding. You don't get. You don't put anything together. You don't have a magical insight. You are just told directly outright the secret of this mountain fully because you do not put it together from your arcane knowledge.
Ioun's magic just divination. You just divinated. You're just told this is.
This mountain grew over a wellspring.
And the Wellspring's no longer here, but it's forever a part of the mountain.
[01:45:55] Speaker F: Wow.
I didn't know wellsprings could go away.
[01:46:00] Speaker B: The mountain absorbed the Wellspring, but.
And it was very briefly a volcano, this mountain. But when the waters of the Wellspring got superheated, they were too magical and they just.
They just like froze the magma into stone and grew different stone above it magically, just different sorts of magic. But the waters, quote unquote, the magical arcana, the Wellspring, it got evaporated, but it never went away. It was too magically balanced. The land. So it circles here forever, turning into an. Into a gentle, healing arcane storm raining back over the landscape and forever creating a cyclical ecosystem of balanced, safe magic on the island.
[01:46:45] Speaker C: Is that the mist that we experience?
[01:46:47] Speaker B: That's the mist. That's the rain. That's why the magical plants grow here. That's why the. That's why the flumphs. The flumphs just kind of, like, are born from nothing here. And that's why there's, like. There's no, like, violent things on the island. It's. It's just an ecosystem of deep magic just cycling forever through the mountain and through the island.
[01:47:09] Speaker F: Wow.
[01:47:11] Speaker D: That's crazy. There's two wellsprings in these areas. That's. That we know of now.
[01:47:15] Speaker B: One's no longer here, but it's like, one. There was one. It became a part of the land. It's. It's. It's like a. It's like a. Put in homeschool terms, it's a fully diffused wellspring. Somebody put a whole wellspring in a diffuser and now it's just missed.
[01:47:31] Speaker F: But, yeah.
Yeah, that's so cool.
[01:47:36] Speaker B: Okay. You know what? I'm actually kind of happy about that. That's as awesome as it could have been, because I love that you guys.
[01:47:40] Speaker F: Know that is, like, looking. She's, like, looking into one of the. One of the.
The cr. The Craigs, the crags. She's, like, listening to Craig, and she's just, like, looking at it, and then she, like, her, like, her features and her whole body just kind of go slack for a moment, and she just kind of, like, doesn't. She's, like, in a trance, but it's kind of a.
Like, she stares off from his face for a minute, and then she, like, reaches out. Is it still misting?
[01:48:17] Speaker B: Yes. Everywhere. The mist is still all around you.
[01:48:19] Speaker F: So she, like, mists. She, like, holds her hands out a little bit and, like, feels, like, the wetness on her hands. Maybe she, like, crouches down and, like, feels it condensing on the rock. And then she, like, turns and there's just, like, tears streaming down her face. And she just, like, looks and, like, she, like, shares this information with everyone.
Still kind of looking, kind of, and just, like, looking at all of the, like, every time she breathes and she can, like, feel the moisture coming into her lungs, it's like she's just so aware of it now, and, like, it was. It was happening there before, but now that she's aware of it, now that she's, like, appreciating it, it's like she could really feel it happening in her lungs and in her blood and things she shares it.
[01:49:11] Speaker B: You all put together magically that this landscape is just passively healing. If you're here, your minor conditions are resolved. And if you're here, like, every hour you're spent, I'll just tell you every hour you spend in the mist, hit points are regained.
And so this land just passively heals things.
Yeah.
Can I. Do I.
[01:49:36] Speaker D: Am I able to tell that Greta knows this? Because something just whispered it to her. Like. Like, is it noticeable that she's having that experience?
[01:49:47] Speaker B: Give me on our. On our inside check. Because what the. The phenomena you observed is. You saw her symbol flash.
[01:49:57] Speaker E: Yeah.
[01:49:57] Speaker B: Yes. Give me an arcana check. You saw her symbol flash, and then she paused and looked like she suddenly learned knowledge. So, yeah, give me an arcana check.
I mean, if you weren't her traveling companion, I would say no. But with a 15, knowing that you know her, I mean, you know her whole story. So, yes, you put together that, like, I mean, you don't know almost anything about Ioun, but Greta has told everyone in the party she's the goddess of knowledge. You saw her symbol flash, and then Greta was suddenly filled with knowledge she didn't know. Before you put together that Ioun just basically kind of like planted the wisdom in her head.
Greta, as you're inspecting the mist and you hold your palm out, it condensates in your palm, and where it forms into the center of your palm, it spreads back out, and it just very briefly, very loosely creates five circles.
[01:50:51] Speaker F: Cool.
[01:50:52] Speaker B: Just kind of runs off your palm.
[01:50:54] Speaker F: Oh, cool. I, like, close my palm and, like, go, like, hold the water there.
[01:51:01] Speaker B: Just keep it.
[01:51:03] Speaker F: Oh, that's so cool.
[01:51:04] Speaker D: Oh, Zachary.
I want to see what a wellspring snowflake looks like. But I only have ice knife and fire shield with cold. That's all I have.
[01:51:24] Speaker B: So why don't you give me an arcana check for ice knife to try and manipulate the spell into doing something it doesn't do. Now, granted, I want to be clear. These are the things adventurers, casters cannot do. It's not part of their spells.
But you guys are 10 plus deep magic, like kind of mega casters like you. I want. The reason I make these exceptions sometimes is I want it. I want there to be. To be explicit with it, to be more transparent than I usually try to be. What's happening is you guys, like, becoming these masterful casters in Yalbrand doesn't just mean you get higher level spells. You literally start to understand your magic. You Start to manipulate them. You start to understand what it means to truly control these forces.
And having experienced deep magic, you understand the very fabric of these magics. So you are gaining the ability to do sometimes more than the basic caster can. So go ahead and give me an Arcana.
[01:52:20] Speaker D: Could I do with druidcraft? Would druidcraft be able to do something like that?
[01:52:23] Speaker B: Yes, I will take that as well. I'll take that as well for this instance.
[01:52:26] Speaker D: I feel like I would probably do that.
[01:52:29] Speaker F: Oh, don't say that.
[01:52:31] Speaker B: Inspiration.
[01:52:33] Speaker E: What did you say, Micah?
[01:52:34] Speaker D: What'd you say?
[01:52:35] Speaker C: We're niftying it up.
[01:52:39] Speaker E: Niftying it up.
[01:52:40] Speaker B: Oh, now Abby's feeling emotions again. Sorry, Abby.
[01:52:44] Speaker D: Okay. I try to, like, druid craft.
[01:52:49] Speaker B: Oh, man.
[01:52:50] Speaker D: That doesn't do anything about it. But I try to, like, make it colder or try to do something with the raindrops that are falling around me gently to. To try to make some type of snowflake form that I can, like, see or, like, like a gentle flurry, just, like, in a small, enclosed space.
[01:53:08] Speaker B: What do you get on your arcana check, bro? I have to roll. Yeah, that's right. Nope, nope.
[01:53:15] Speaker D: Zachary, I'm not lying. That was a natural 20.
[01:53:17] Speaker B: Oh, my God.
[01:53:18] Speaker D: This session.
I'm not lying.
[01:53:21] Speaker B: That's your fourth natural. That's a little never. I will never, ever, never, never doubt you all on a roll. Never. I trust you. That's your fourth NAT20 of this. Of this session.
[01:53:32] Speaker F: Wow.
[01:53:34] Speaker B: What's the total?
[01:53:35] Speaker D: A nat 20 for me. Oh. Everyone okay, Total for Arcana. I think I have a plus. It's 25.
[01:53:44] Speaker B: Okay.
I don't want to take this flavoring from you.
[01:53:51] Speaker D: Oh, take it. Run with it. I did my part.
[01:53:53] Speaker B: Baaz, as you still yourself, learning that knowledge, and you feel it now, I mean, everything in this land feels magical. So it's kind of hard to differentiate. But as you recognize that familiar feeling of like, oh, that's what I've been feeling. It's deep magic.
You let yourself connect with the worth. And you all watch as the roots push out of Baaz's feet and ground him. And then Baaz just lifts his hand in his hands set on fire. But it's the deep magic fire. It's that kind of aurora borealis, rainbow colored, a little soft at the edges. And as he does, the fire turns. He begins muttering, and the fire turns completely pale, like blue. And all of the water misting down around him begins falling slower and then condensating into snowflakes that begin falling. And they look like snowflakes, except they begin all refracting light. And each one of them makes tiny little rainbow colors coming off of it very subtly as they fall around him.
Wherever they land on the landscape, they stick to the ground.
And then it looks like they never dissolve.
But Craig, as you notice, the water melts off, but the shiny remains and pauses. You close you as you open your eyes again, goes back to mist. Craig, could you give me another stone cutting check also. You guys couldn't hear it, but I farted.
It's very hot.
[01:55:25] Speaker D: It's just breasted agitation in real life.
[01:55:29] Speaker B: That's what I'm gonna say from now on. I just.
I'm a spell cast.
[01:55:35] Speaker C: 22.
[01:55:38] Speaker B: Craig.
Oh.
[01:55:42] Speaker F: Oh.
[01:55:42] Speaker B: Holy crap. Craig. You get down on the ground, your hands and knees and you look at the snowflake melted off. But the deep magic transmuted the ground below.
That's gem. Now these little tiny flecks are like that one's quartz, that one's a little bit of. That one's a little bit of agate. They've. They've literally where they melted, they transmuted the ground into gemstones, flakes, shavings. But it's there.
[01:56:11] Speaker F: So cool.
I'm gonna try and catch one on my tongue.
[01:56:20] Speaker B: Okay.
You reach out your tongue and they were there very briefly, but one melts on it.
It's just an intense sensation. Kind of hard to pit. Like your tongue goes numb a little bit for a second.
[01:56:37] Speaker F: Awesome.
[01:56:38] Speaker B: We'll say you gain a temporary hitch.
[01:56:39] Speaker F: Point.
[01:56:41] Speaker B: And then you know it's gone.
The mountain is now reaching a severe angle.
So you get the feeling that you're going to need to start walking around it.
And the mists are still quite warm. And where you are traveling it's just getting more cragulous. And there's more of those shafts in the ground. And you are noticing that more fungi are growing more densely around the edge of these fissures in the earth. And the steam is. Craig, as you get closer, you were right. The steam is pouring out of them.
And the shafts are a little internally lit.
So there's some like light coming out of the fissures just barely. And the fungal stocks growing up around them are thick and dense.
Some of them are tall. There's some foot tall fungi here.
Oh, Greta, there's one that's also white caps.
[01:57:41] Speaker E: Really Foot tall one.
[01:57:43] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:57:48] Speaker F: I'm gonna sit and look at it, but I'm not gonna pick it.
[01:57:52] Speaker B: Okay, Greta, you get close and you squat down. You get a real close look it's beautiful.
It's. The moisture is condensating along the edges. And once the mycelia at the bottom start moving, the mycelia at the bottom are moving. You're looking at it. And the little like kind of roots, they're not real roots, but the mycelia begin absorbing back into it. And then a part of it splits and then another, it starts cutting itself apart. And then these two little black, pitch black void eyes open up this tiny little slit gill of a mouth and send an image in lore and reference treat it as basic flavoring. It's not exactly what you're seeing because yours is a little more like black and red cup or cap.
The little mushroom grows, splits into limbs and then eyes and a little slit mouth.
And it steps forward and it looks up at you and it goes.
And you all look as Greta is staring down at a foot tall mushroom that has eyes and a mouth and two arms and two legs that's looking up at her, telling its whole body to look. And it goes, bury the mushroom, man.
[01:59:27] Speaker F: I recognize that as a language, that's inspiration.
[01:59:33] Speaker B: You do not recognize it, Greta. No one here does.
[01:59:37] Speaker F: Okay. I don't recognize it as a language.
[01:59:40] Speaker B: No. And, well, I mean, it looks like it's trying to converse, but you don't know the language.
[01:59:45] Speaker E: Okay, I'm gonna use my.
[01:59:47] Speaker F: I'm gonna use my tattoo. I mean, I'm gonna cast tongues.
[01:59:50] Speaker B: The emerald tattoo lines leading to your mouth. They flare with magic as you whisper and you cast tongues on yourself.
And you hear the little dude go, hey. Hi, how are you?
[02:00:01] Speaker F: Hey. Hi.
[02:00:04] Speaker B: And you all listen as Greta goes, they hear.
And you hear the little one back go.
And Greta, you hear, hey, I'm pretty good. How are you? How are you?
[02:00:18] Speaker E: Good.
[02:00:18] Speaker B: You're good?
[02:00:19] Speaker F: Good. I'm doing good.
Sorry to step in on your. Sorry to barge in.
And it sounds like.
[02:00:32] Speaker B: And you guys can't. I mean, well, you saw the magic flare, so, you know, she's doing magic and not just being weird.
And the little dude just back. And you hear him go. It's okay. Nobody ever steps here. Are you a giant? You're really big.
[02:00:45] Speaker F: I like, crouch down. I like sit.
[02:00:51] Speaker B: I'm still like 4 inches above his eye level, but it's a lot closer.
[02:00:55] Speaker F: Yeah, I guess I'm pretty tall comparatively.
What's your name? I'm Greta.
[02:01:05] Speaker B: Hey, good to meet you. My name's Apollo.
[02:01:07] Speaker F: Good to meet you.
I'm Greta.
[02:01:13] Speaker B: And then the little mushroom turns and goes, guys, this is Greta. You guys are. And Then four or five more of the mushrooms and their limbs split and stand. Oh, one of them's 2ft tall, another of them's 3 inches tall. And like, 12 of the mushrooms there split limbs, grow eyes, and gill mouths. And then they. And some of them. Some of them are, like. Are like sporaginous mushrooms. Some of them are. Are, like, folded in lobes. Some of them have cup heads with little spores inside. They're all different. Some of them are tall and thin. They're all diverse, and they all. When you wave, all 12 of them turn and just wave at you Ro. But, like, one of them lifts a leg and does it. Two of them do two heads. One of them just shakes.
And now you guys are hearing, and they're all talking to you at once, and it's just a flood of voices. Greta. And then the one on the.
The one in the front.
The one in the front goes, are you guys cool? We never have anybody else on the side. Let me start with the guy on the other side. What are we helping with?
[02:02:15] Speaker F: We're looking for a guy. And I, like, look, we're just passing through. We're trying to get to a waterfall to meet a guy named Jaff.
[02:02:26] Speaker B: All the little mushrooms turn, and they, like. They all walk together and huddle in a circle, and when they touch each other, their mycelium grow over each other and into each other, and their limbs, like, fuse for a second as they talk. And you guys just hear a flood of, like, as they're all, like, talking to each other. And as they talk, they, like, vibrate, and little spores rain down out of them and, like, mix. And they're like.
[02:02:53] Speaker F: Give me the leaf, that leaf paper that you have.
[02:02:56] Speaker E: Oh. I hold it out, and I show the mushroom people, and I'm like, you.
[02:03:00] Speaker B: Show them the leaf. The, like, the, like, scale leaf leather armor as you show it out, and they go back to muttering among each other. They're talking, and then, like, after a little nodding, and then they release, and then they walk back over to you guys. I'm. I've had fungi to another plan for months.
Little fungus dudes walk. The same one walks back up to you and goes.
And you hear him say, yeah, we'll help you find the guy back. Here's the thing. You got to help us stop the dancing.
[02:03:33] Speaker F: Dancing? Yeah.
[02:03:34] Speaker C: What?
[02:03:35] Speaker F: How can we do that?
[02:03:36] Speaker B: Then he continues, well, the problem is things are way too groovy down there. I mean, we don't mind to dance, but we can't stop dancing. And it's thousands of us. And we really need to live our lives, and we just can't stop the dancing.
[02:03:44] Speaker F: You just can't stop dancing?
[02:03:46] Speaker D: Oh, no.
[02:03:46] Speaker B: We can't stop the funk.
[02:03:50] Speaker D: Okay.
[02:03:53] Speaker F: Okay.
[02:03:55] Speaker E: Greta, what are they saying?
[02:03:56] Speaker F: How can we help? They're saying that they can't stop the funk.
[02:04:01] Speaker E: Are they dance dm? Are they, like, dancing? Are they moving right now? Oh, okay.
[02:04:07] Speaker D: When they go down to the guy. The waterfall, they can't help but dance is what they're saying.
[02:04:13] Speaker E: Can you make some dance?
[02:04:15] Speaker F: Does the guy at the waterfall make you dance?
[02:04:17] Speaker B: And Greta, is you back the first one and you hear him say, no, it's not the guy that waterfall at all. He's. We don't really talk to him. It's inside. When we're inside of the mountain, we can't stop dancing. It's all of us. We can stop dancing. Can you help stop the dancing? It's been this way for a really long time.
[02:04:30] Speaker F: Oh, okay.
[02:04:34] Speaker B: I mean, we love to groove, but it's just a little bit too much groove, you know?
[02:04:37] Speaker F: Can I do an insight check to see if it's.
If I think it's the wellspring that's doing that for the remnants.
[02:04:47] Speaker B: That feels like an arcana check.
And I'm gonna like, this is almost divination level. So let's put this as another.
[02:04:54] Speaker F: Got it.
[02:04:55] Speaker B: Well, let's put this as another plus 30 check, because that's again, just kind of divination. You don't have any other context or information.
[02:05:05] Speaker F: Okay.
[02:05:06] Speaker B: And I hate the precedent I'm setting because I should just say no. But here we are.
[02:05:11] Speaker D: I said we go into the mountain or. And I can objurate us and we can just try hopefully not get charmed if that's what's happening.
[02:05:20] Speaker F: You think they're being charmed? I got a 32.
How an 18 plus 14.
Oh, he's.
[02:05:34] Speaker E: He laughed, but yeah, I was like.
[02:05:37] Speaker B: He left.
[02:05:37] Speaker E: He walked out his door.
[02:05:41] Speaker B: Great. Now I DM for two. Januses and stupid you hear whispering. My information is just planted into your mind, Greta. As you query and as wisdom is planted, there is a voice seeks to push you onward in your journey. And you divinate the truth that the information planted in your mind is.
Oh, my goodness. You just skipped the whole thing. You guys planted in your mind. There's gonna be a whole figuring it out. I'll give. It'll be a clue. I don't have to just give it to you. But the information whispered in your mind is.
Some jokes go too far.
[02:06:36] Speaker F: Okay.
[02:06:38] Speaker D: You still got that time of jokes, Craig?
[02:06:44] Speaker E: Oh, I'm guessing Greta's like relaying this stuff or.
[02:06:48] Speaker D: No.
[02:06:49] Speaker E: Okay.
[02:06:54] Speaker F: How do you get into the mountain?
[02:06:57] Speaker B: They all turn and look at all the gigantic crags and fissures on the mountain and go. We walk inside.
[02:07:04] Speaker F: Okay, cool.
[02:07:05] Speaker D: What if one of us stays?
[02:07:07] Speaker E: Are any of them big enough for us to go through?
[02:07:09] Speaker B: Dm. You guys look around. A real tight fit. But yep.
Claustrophobic. This could be unpleasant. But yeah, you can get in there. Okay.
[02:07:21] Speaker D: I'll turn into a little rat.
[02:07:23] Speaker E: That could be a bat.
[02:07:24] Speaker B: Do you do that? Boss?
[02:07:25] Speaker C: I have to stay the same.
[02:07:26] Speaker D: I want to communicate with them a plan before I do that. But I'm saying I can do that. I can turn to a rat. I think someone should stay behind.
[02:07:33] Speaker E: And I could be a bat.
[02:07:35] Speaker F: Oh, cool.
[02:07:36] Speaker E: To go into caves.
[02:07:41] Speaker F: Okay. Okay.
[02:07:42] Speaker B: Toes like batting around. I want to climb. I want really badly to climb into the tiny space of the mountain with these crazy mushroom people. But I'll stay back if someone has to.
[02:07:51] Speaker E: All right.
[02:07:52] Speaker D: Tell us if we're gone for like two or three days. Come get it.
[02:07:55] Speaker B: Just.
[02:07:55] Speaker D: Just like go get help.
[02:07:56] Speaker B: Maybe I'll do that.
[02:08:02] Speaker C: How are we gonna. How are we gonna get me there?
[02:08:10] Speaker D: Is there a Craig shaped hole?
[02:08:12] Speaker E: I could.
[02:08:13] Speaker B: If he gets real squeezy. There could be.
[02:08:17] Speaker D: Are you down to get real squeezy? Craig?
[02:08:19] Speaker E: I could turn you into something. Craig words. You know.
[02:08:23] Speaker C: Oh my gosh.
[02:08:24] Speaker B: You know.
[02:08:24] Speaker C: Be so cool.
[02:08:25] Speaker D: Could be rat bros.
[02:08:26] Speaker C: Turned me into something that already had like an armorish kind of exterior.
[02:08:33] Speaker E: A ratio.
[02:08:40] Speaker C: It could be a beetle. And my metal could. Could become beetle.
[02:08:43] Speaker F: Ish. That's really cool. Crab.
[02:08:49] Speaker E: Yeah. I could do something like that. Sure.
[02:08:52] Speaker D: Did anybody eat the mushrooms? Is that what's happening right now? Like y'all take secret bites?
[02:09:00] Speaker B: I'm so glad.
[02:09:04] Speaker F: So glad I wasn't like.
[02:09:07] Speaker B: If everyone had eaten it together, that could be a possibility. But nobody has.
That's funny, Boz. You mentioned obdurate earlier. Do you cast it or no?
[02:09:17] Speaker D: Let me see how many spell slots I have. It's a third level spell and it's one.
It's one per level.
[02:09:27] Speaker C: I'm sorry.
[02:09:29] Speaker B: It's okay. It's late. We'll wrap up soon.
[02:09:31] Speaker D: So that's two. Four.
I could burn two fourth level spells and get four people.
How many people do I need to operate Zachary myself?
[02:09:44] Speaker E: Can you. Can you tell me what if you're leaving time outside.
[02:09:47] Speaker B: There's four.
[02:09:47] Speaker D: It makes it 20. You can't be charmed.
[02:09:50] Speaker E: Oh, but are we, like, missed?
[02:09:53] Speaker F: Probably Good.
[02:09:55] Speaker D: What?
[02:09:56] Speaker B: No, that would be a completely different spell to transform your entire body.
[02:10:00] Speaker F: I think it's just where we.
This.
[02:10:04] Speaker E: We can't be charmed.
[02:10:05] Speaker B: It keeps you from being charmed.
[02:10:07] Speaker E: I got you. I was thinking we were turning into mist. I don't know why that was in my head.
[02:10:13] Speaker B: That's a different spell that turns you into mist.
And there is one.
[02:10:18] Speaker E: Yeah.
[02:10:20] Speaker D: So there's five of us that need to be turned. Craig, are you coming into the crag with us?
[02:10:24] Speaker C: Of course.
[02:10:26] Speaker B: No, no. If you need me to, I'll really stay outside.
[02:10:29] Speaker D: All right. Tello, can you stay outside for us?
[02:10:32] Speaker B: Yeah. I don't like tight spaces.
[02:10:33] Speaker D: Kind of cast obdurate. Yes.
[02:10:38] Speaker C: With the Mushroom Man.
[02:10:40] Speaker E: Can Tello talk to them? What if he needs to talk to them?
[02:10:45] Speaker B: Baz, what does it look like as you cast obdurate?
[02:10:48] Speaker D: I use two fourth level spell slots and one third level spell slot to cast obdurate on all five of us. And I just kind of like. I slap everybody on the shoulder once.
[02:10:57] Speaker B: And as he does, there's just this huge flourish of multicolored magic. And as it sweeps over your senses, you feel your mind's very stilled and. Baz, could you go ahead and roll a D100 for me?
[02:11:12] Speaker D: Oh, no. Zachary, is this.
[02:11:14] Speaker E: I don't like that.
[02:11:15] Speaker B: Don't roll a 15 on Magic Island 32.
[02:11:20] Speaker E: Thank God.
[02:11:23] Speaker D: Odd. Because I'm an odd. Oh, sorry. No, wrong. Wrong sec.
[02:11:27] Speaker E: Odd.
[02:11:28] Speaker B: Crazy. What? What are the odds that's so perfectly useful right now?
Okay, Boz, could you roll me a D4?
Yes.
[02:11:46] Speaker D: That's two. Two.
[02:11:48] Speaker B: This table's got positives on it. Okay, two plus one, so you can go ahead and write down three hours.
Okay, Boz, you gain the benefits of the etherealness spell. A seventh level transmutational spell. For the next three hours, you can step into the border regions of the ethereal plane in the area where it overlaps with your current plane. You remain in the border of the ethereal plane for the duration or until you use your action to dismiss the spell. During this time, you can move in any direction. If you move up or down every floor going to cost an extra foot. You can see and hear the plane you originated from, but everything there looks gray and you can't say anything more than 60ft away. While in the ethereal plane, you can only affect and be affected by other creatures on that plane. Creatures that aren't on the ethereal plane can't perceive you and can't interact with you, unless a special ability, yada yada, you ignore all objects and effects that aren't on the ethereal plane.
So basically, what this means is for the next three hours, you can walk through solid objects. So you don't need to transform at all. You can just walk through and follow the party, but the party can't see or hear you. So here's what happens.
[02:12:56] Speaker E: We don't see him.
[02:12:58] Speaker B: Here's what happens. Boz goes, I'll protect you all. Casts obdurate. You guys feel your mind's protected from charm. Also, what's the duration of obdurate? Boz?
[02:13:07] Speaker D: It's an hour, okay?
[02:13:09] Speaker B: For the next hour, you guys can't be affected by a charm.
And Boz does that. Then there's a flourish of shiny magic over him. And then Boz just disappears. He just.
Boz, you're suddenly looking at everyone in grayscale, and you, like, turn and, like, we'll say immediately you find out. You put a hand on Rowan. It just passes through.
And you.
[02:13:35] Speaker D: What happens if I try to.
[02:13:36] Speaker B: Your voice goes, ro.
Echoes outward.
Boss is gone.
[02:13:44] Speaker E: I yell out. I go, balls. Where did you go?
Hello?
[02:13:49] Speaker C: It must have happened again. Do you remember that time you disappeared?
[02:13:52] Speaker D: Is there a place that I can hide somewhere else in the cave? Maybe behind a rock or something?
[02:13:59] Speaker B: Sure. Yeah. So Baz, you just turn and walk through the mountain face, phase through it. And as you begin walking inside, you see a very narrow, snaking throat of a slit inlet stone path. And then beyond it, it widens out into this gigantic, like, cavern belly that, like, winds around a long corner and then up into two other directions, and it is filled, towering with fungus shelves and just filled with fungus. And some of it, you watch, move, and you realize these are all myconoid people.
[02:14:30] Speaker D: I meant, like, in the same room. I was, like, gonna play a joke.
[02:14:32] Speaker B: Well, you are outside on a mountain, so there's no rooms. You mean like, outside you just hide behind a big rock?
[02:14:38] Speaker E: Yes, but it's three hours.
[02:14:40] Speaker B: None of that happens. You just step behind a big rock.
[02:14:44] Speaker F: Well, I think if you just spell.
[02:14:49] Speaker D: Wait here, like, permanently, it's over.
[02:14:52] Speaker B: I can't do it again.
You're a theory. You can dismiss the spell with an action.
[02:14:57] Speaker D: Oh, I can't go back and forth.
[02:14:59] Speaker B: Yeah.
[02:15:00] Speaker D: Oh, oh, yeah. I don't do that. Then I.
[02:15:05] Speaker B: Excellent.
[02:15:06] Speaker D: And y'all can y'all roleplay freaking out real quick so I can read this spell stuff.
[02:15:11] Speaker E: I start. I start yelling for boss, and I'm like, guys, where did he go?
[02:15:17] Speaker F: My new mushroom friends. I'm going to be like, did you guys, do you guys know where my friend went?
[02:15:24] Speaker B: Like annoy dude with the red and white captions and goes, that was crazy. That guy looked at disappeared.
[02:15:31] Speaker F: But okay, we don't know where it is. Got it. Okay.
[02:15:34] Speaker E: I, I, I, I send. Does one of us have the sending? Like can I spits it out?
Try to send to. I'm holding the.
[02:15:45] Speaker B: Here's where this gets crazy. Roll a D100 for me because he's now technically on another plane of existence.
[02:15:52] Speaker E: Oh, yeah. Let's see if I can have the Boz luck from when I was on a different plane.
[02:16:05] Speaker B: 5%.
[02:16:05] Speaker E: Okay, help me out. Why can I never remember? What does it mean if you get a zero? Not the double zero. The zero.
[02:16:11] Speaker B: Then that's a 10 on the D10. That's a 10.
[02:16:14] Speaker E: Okay, so I rolled a 30.
[02:16:17] Speaker B: Okay. You just hear static here, which confirms for you. Oh, shoot, boss is on another plane of existence.
[02:16:23] Speaker E: Yeah. So I relay that to so now.
[02:16:26] Speaker B: Bro, you have every reason to believe that not the thing that has happened to us has happened, but the bad thing has happened to it.
[02:16:32] Speaker E: Yeah.
[02:16:33] Speaker F: Do you have a way to get him back?
[02:16:35] Speaker E: Guys, guys, I'm really, really concerned.
[02:16:38] Speaker D: I see them freaking out and I'm like, guys, I'm right here.
[02:16:41] Speaker B: You can see and hear all of them perfectly right next to you and their voices sound echoey and you're just hearing them freaking out and being like, boz is gone. Boz is gone. But you're right there next to them.
[02:16:50] Speaker E: Guys, what if Boz went into the Shadow Fair like I did? Because he's just gone. I, I mean he could have gone anywhere, but I don't think he's on our.
[02:16:58] Speaker F: We have a way to get away.
[02:16:59] Speaker C: I'm gonna have trust issues with him.
Oh my gosh. The amount of times he just.
[02:17:04] Speaker B: My boss has magically disappeared.
[02:17:07] Speaker E: Well, well, well, Craig. I just, I think it's, I think it's this place. It sends you places.
[02:17:13] Speaker B: He's just walking around with his hands out going, Baaz.
[02:17:16] Speaker E: I don't think he's.
Well, he's not invisible. He'd yell at us or something.
[02:17:23] Speaker D: All right, while they're freaking out, I'm gonna go down the cave and see what I can find.
[02:17:27] Speaker B: Okay, so Baz, as I previously described, into the throat of the cave, you're walking around in the huge, like cavernous, irregular, like magma carved cave walls that are. It's now there's no colors for you. It's all Greyscale. But you watch the Massilia myconoid people, and every single time you see one, like, there's fungus just covering the floors, covering the walls, covering the ceiling. And as it. It all has different grayscale tones, so you imagine it's all different colors. But where you see the actual myconoid fungal people, all of them are inside, just, like, just busting moves. And, like, a couple of them with their tiny little fungal booties are just twerking. One of them's, like, doing the worm on the floor. Another one's, like, popping and locking. One of them's crumping really hard. Two of them are, like, swing dancing. And it's just thousands of micanoid people dancing. They look fine, but they're. Wow.
[02:18:18] Speaker E: Is there music? I know I don't hear it, but are they.
[02:18:23] Speaker B: But they're all dancing, so there's just thousands of soft squishing sounds as they dance.
[02:18:29] Speaker D: Very soft. I move.
Is it leading somewhere?
[02:18:35] Speaker B: Give me an investigation check.
[02:18:39] Speaker F: So fun.
[02:18:40] Speaker D: 18 plus. I think I have plus one investigation, so that's pretty good. Yeah. 19. I have a plus one of my investigation.
[02:18:49] Speaker B: Okay. We do a lot of serious stuff in the game, but Foo flump is fun. It's just fun. Nothing dangerous, nothing bad, just fun.
I wanted you guys to have some of this, you know, candy should be a lot of things.
I mean, he was fine. He just threw up a lot.
Boz, this has to lead somewhere. And you just begin following the path, and you're walking down the throat of one of these caverns. And, like, the dancing. Yeah, the dancing is getting more skilled. You'll follow that path. And so Boz is just skilled.
[02:19:20] Speaker D: Okay. Okay.
[02:19:23] Speaker F: They're like ballroom souls.
[02:19:25] Speaker B: Like, up toward the entrance, one of the fungal people is doing the breakdancing that got represented in the Olympics, but a little further down the throat, the fungi are. The myconoids are breakdancing in a way that all breakdancers everywhere actually do, which is vastly superior to any of what was represented there. And so it's just getting better and better and better. And that joke won't age well at all, but. Yeah.
So boss is on the path. What's everybody else doing?
[02:19:54] Speaker F: Freaking out because balls gone.
[02:19:56] Speaker E: Yeah, we're freaking out, man.
[02:19:59] Speaker B: Tello just goes, greta, your God, that knows a bunch of stuff. Can you ask her if, like, where he is or if. If he's okay or something like that?
[02:20:06] Speaker F: Yeah, yeah. I close my eyes, I grab my symbol. I go, I don't know.
[02:20:15] Speaker B: Now I want to ask you A question. Are you attempting to cast one of the many divination spells you are, or are you attempting to use your 10th level feature, which is the most powerful feature in D and D that you've yet to use, and I'm not sure you know, that you have, which is called Divine Intervention?
[02:20:28] Speaker F: I'm doing neither.
[02:20:30] Speaker B: Okay. Also, are you aware you have the Divine Intervention feature? Okay. And you're fair that it's just checking. You're aware that it's like, a freebie use any time, and then, like, once it works, if it doesn't work, that's just it for the long rest. But if it does work, you don't have it again for a week. You're aware of that, right?
[02:20:47] Speaker F: Oh, yeah.
[02:20:51] Speaker B: Okay. You look a little shocked, so I just want to make sure that you were aware of the feature you have, which is the strongest feature in 5e, so, you know, just. Okay. Excellent. All right, so back to the session.
[02:21:05] Speaker C: Oh, my gosh. Where is Boz?
If only we knew the information.
[02:21:12] Speaker B: Does the party do anything that makes the rest of the session not Boz doing the only thing, and everyone else just waiting?
[02:21:17] Speaker E: Yeah, I guess.
[02:21:18] Speaker B: Not to pressure you guys, but, you know, I guess.
[02:21:21] Speaker E: I mean, I couldn't get through to him like, he got through to me, so I don't know what I did wrong or I guess we just.
[02:21:30] Speaker F: You know what?
[02:21:31] Speaker E: I guess we just continue on and hope he zaps back to us.
[02:21:34] Speaker F: I think that we should. I know that Tello already agreed to stay here, but I do think that we should have Tello stay here just.
[02:21:41] Speaker B: To make sure that Ro came back to the same spot.
Okay. I'll be here for him.
And his lower lip just quiver slightly.
[02:21:54] Speaker E: You're very brave, Tello.
[02:21:56] Speaker B: I'm very brave and very tall, and I look really good in a suit.
[02:22:02] Speaker E: Okay.
[02:22:04] Speaker C: I believe it.
[02:22:09] Speaker E: I think.
[02:22:09] Speaker F: Okay, I'm going into the. I'm going in.
[02:22:12] Speaker E: Are you gonna transform into anything, or are you just gonna smuggle in fit then?
[02:22:19] Speaker F: I do not. I just want to go in.
[02:22:20] Speaker B: You and Ro. Just fit.
[02:22:21] Speaker E: Okay, then I'll do it. Craig, do you want me to turn you into something? You want to be a beetle?
[02:22:26] Speaker C: Yeah.
[02:22:27] Speaker E: Okay, Greta, step on. Craig. Beetle. Beetle. Craig. Beetle. Craig. Beetle, Craig. And then she plugs.
[02:22:38] Speaker B: Do you have inspiration right now?
[02:22:40] Speaker E: I don't.
[02:22:41] Speaker B: Okay, take inspiration.
[02:22:42] Speaker E: And then Craig turns into a beetle.
[02:22:48] Speaker B: Craig. There's this puff of silvery magic, and then in its place is just this bright silver, like the color of your armor. Like, the beetle looks like it's made out of, like, metal?
[02:23:00] Speaker E: Yes.
[02:23:00] Speaker C: Isn't that like a rhinoceros beetle or something?
[02:23:02] Speaker B: It's a rhinoceros beetle. That's what I was wondering.
And Craig, you start crawling. Rose, you cast that spell. Could you roll a D100 for me?
[02:23:11] Speaker E: Ah. Shoot. Fire. Save the matches.
[02:23:14] Speaker D: Shoot.
Hey, Zachary, I don't mean to be that guy, but earlier when I cast obdurate, I technically cast three spells at once.
[02:23:26] Speaker B: Oh, you're right. Could you roll two more T1 hundreds for me?
[02:23:31] Speaker D: Yes, I can.
[02:23:32] Speaker B: Forgot.
[02:23:37] Speaker F: Not good.
[02:23:37] Speaker B: Also, do you still have your inspiration?
[02:23:42] Speaker D: Yes.
[02:23:44] Speaker B: I. I can't give double inspiration out that much. It's so unfair.
[02:23:47] Speaker D: You should make a magic item one.
[02:23:50] Speaker B: Last time just because you were so honest. You were so honest about the mechanics and the rules, and you were willing to take an additional consequence. Thank you for being so very honest. So you have double inspiration again.
[02:24:00] Speaker D: Write down double inspiration row.
[02:24:03] Speaker B: Would you get on your roll?
[02:24:04] Speaker E: I got a 61.
[02:24:06] Speaker B: 61. The fun thing about this table is there's so many rolls, I don't remember what any of them do.
[02:24:10] Speaker D: Excellent.
[02:24:10] Speaker B: Roll a D4 for me.
[02:24:12] Speaker E: Okay. I have it written down. What role I don't want. I can tell you that I know what role I don't want to get. In the Lost Land.
I got a two.
[02:24:22] Speaker B: Excellent. Ro, you don't see anything happening? I'm good. Everyone else, you watch Ro. No longer green. Completely bright blue, electric neon blue. Her hair is still purple on the flowers, but she's just. She's not green and purple row. Now she's blue and purple row. Just.
And the next day, you're gonna be your dad.
[02:24:47] Speaker D: You're gonna be blue.
[02:24:50] Speaker B: I'm not gonna believe that I be better than the. Better than the beard.
[02:24:56] Speaker D: Zach, I rolled an 80 and then a 55.
[02:25:00] Speaker B: Okay, okay, okay.
[02:25:01] Speaker E: Did you say for the next day or two days?
[02:25:04] Speaker B: Next day. Boz, could you roll me 2D 12? Minus 2.
[02:25:08] Speaker D: 2D 12.
That is a 12.
[02:25:13] Speaker B: Okay.
[02:25:15] Speaker D: And an 8. That's 20. So that's okay.
[02:25:18] Speaker B: 18. 18. Boz, for the next 18 hours, you have the benefits of the comprehend languages spell.
So what we're learning is in the Lost Lands, good things happen to Boz and bad things happen to Rock. Those are the rules.
And then the next one was a 55, you said? Yeah.
[02:25:46] Speaker A: Roll me.
[02:25:46] Speaker B: Roll me one D four minus one. Okay.
[02:25:51] Speaker D: That is a three total.
[02:25:53] Speaker B: Okay. Excellent.
Okay, this. Boss, this rule applies to you for the next three days. I'm going to put this in your channel in discord. Excellent.
[02:26:03] Speaker D: Okay, okay.
Is this for boss's eyes only?
[02:26:09] Speaker B: No, no, this is fine. For the next three days, beginning immediately, you begin to randomly lose grip strength in your hands. As such, when you make saving throws, weapon attacks, or ability checks that require the coordinated use of your hands first, roll a D4. On a roll of 2 to 4, the associated check performs as normal, and you may roll a typical as you typically would. On a roll of one, your hands cannot grip the item you intend to use, and you fail the check. Additionally, the item you are holding is scattered five times a D4 in random feet in a random direction, as decided by your gm. So you just. For the next three days, you just don't have great grip strength.
[02:26:46] Speaker F: Hilarious.
[02:26:47] Speaker B: It'll randomly fail you.
[02:26:49] Speaker E: It's a good thing Boz no longer carries the staff and is the staff. Can you imagine?
[02:26:54] Speaker B: Because Boz, basically, this doesn't affect him at all. Kind of.
[02:27:00] Speaker D: Yeah.
[02:27:01] Speaker B: Okay. So buffed by every magic in the world, you're fine and you're walking.
[02:27:08] Speaker D: Can't hold on to stuff.
[02:27:11] Speaker F: So he can hear what all the mushrooms are saying.
[02:27:14] Speaker B: Yeah, well, comprehend languages is stuff you can read tongues is languages. Craig's a shiny beetle. Rose blue. The three of you are walking into the caves. As you move through the cragula center, you see fungi cover everything. Shell fungi make like, structures, almost like buildings. And. And there are myconoid people walking around on the shell fungi, myconoid people a centimeter tall, talking with each other, living their life. And then there. There are huge. There are like shafts of the chambers you're walking through that are nothing but pillars of fungus growing up. And there are every color imaginable, just rainbows everywhere. And as you guys get inside, everywhere, the fungi are just.
Just grooving hard. And all around you, Greta, you're like.
And they're just grinning like, hey, hi, hi, hi, hi. And they. So they can talk. Some of them are attempting to perform tasks, but they're having to do all of it as they dance. And as you guys enter, no one makes the saving throw because Boz made the choice to obdurate you, which I crap you not, is like the only thing you could have done to negate this entire thing.
Wow, you guys are killing it. So that. That. That custom homebrew spell is the only thing you could have done that I can think of that just protects you from. Because the entire thing was a charm saving throw.
[02:28:32] Speaker E: Wow.
[02:28:32] Speaker D: So you're just also comprehend language. Just spoken and written language.
[02:28:37] Speaker B: Girl. Boss girl. Oh, tongues let you talk it back. So Never mind.
[02:28:40] Speaker E: Oh, you can't talk.
[02:28:41] Speaker B: Everywhere you go, boss. Come on now. Everywhere you go, you are hearing and understanding all the weird mutterings that are being said. And it's all just conversation. It's just like, hey, buddy, how are you? That's really good, you know, and because you get the feeling this has been happening for really long time, so they're just dancing, living their lives. And like, where some of them are trying to travel down the hall, they're just conga lining it and. But the micronoids are walking around everywhere on the floor and the walls and the ceiling, because they walk around with their mycelia, so gravity doesn't really stop them anywhere they go. And everywhere you guys walk here, it's just filled with the deep magic steam. Everything is moist and warm and healing.
Yeah, it's a mix of good and bad.
[02:29:26] Speaker F: A moist, warm, healing crag filled with mushrooms.
[02:29:33] Speaker B: So much of this.
Okay, so Boz, hit me with another. Hit me with another. I don't know if you guys.
Well, mystery, but you might just solve it. This session.
[02:29:57] Speaker E: We got to spend a full day game, so bro doesn't have to be blue guy.
Oh, is that why you were singing that?
[02:30:05] Speaker D: Yes, yes. That's why I was thinking that Jackie.
[02:30:09] Speaker B: Was like, I love that song. Anyway, since you're traveling down the hallway, give me another investigation check. But now make it an advantage to try and pick out which of individuals around you are speaking the right things to lead you where you need to go. The rest of the party.
Holy crap.
The rest of the party. As you've entered the cavernous home of the myconoids. What are you doing, Craig? Let's start with. Let's start with Craig. Rhinoceros beetle. What are you doing?
[02:30:38] Speaker C: I mean, I.
I think he's just slapping his wings to the groove.
[02:30:46] Speaker B: Okay, so as everyone else, as Craig, not enchanted, is just lifting up on his six little legs and going.
Just dancing around. You watch as a couple myconoid people, 1 a quarter of a centimeter tall and 12 centimeters tall, only really, Craig is perceiving them. Walk up to Craig and Craig, you don't understand them. And then they same thing, buddy, latch onto you and then just absorb up your surface and onto your top and like 30 or 40 tiny, microscopic, tiny little fungi people just grow up on Craig. And some of them just root themselves and just sit down. One of them, like, just one of them, like full, like Jack and Titanic, just like spreads its arms off of the front of his horn.
[02:31:32] Speaker C: Not the bull.
[02:31:33] Speaker B: A couple of Them start doing, like, a dance party on Craig's back. And Craig is just now, like, a little Mike annoyed bus.
[02:31:43] Speaker C: Barney, how do I get them off.
[02:31:48] Speaker B: Blue row? What are you doing as you're in the chamber, man? This has real. I don't know why traumatic things always happen to Craig when he's polymorphed, but this has real. I don't want to go potty energy.
[02:32:04] Speaker F: There's so many throwbacks.
[02:32:06] Speaker E: I look at Greta. I look at Greta, and.
[02:32:10] Speaker F: And I look at you, and I.
[02:32:12] Speaker E: Look at him, and I'm on the bench. Greta. Yeah, I.
I turn.
[02:32:20] Speaker F: I turn real quick, and I think.
[02:32:21] Speaker E: Some jokes go too far. What does that mean?
[02:32:25] Speaker C: How does that.
[02:32:26] Speaker E: How does that pertain to all of these poor little guys dancing?
[02:32:30] Speaker F: I don't know.
I say we follow. So dm, there's, like, an obvious, like, place to go, right? Like, it's all. It's leading somewhere, right?
[02:32:40] Speaker B: It looks like it. I mean, it looks like a vast chamber, and it could go a lot of directions, but they lead places.
[02:32:46] Speaker E: Oh, well, should you ask one of them? Maybe they'll tell you where to go.
[02:32:53] Speaker F: Yeah, I don't know. I'm gonna say I'm gonna lean down on one of them, and I'm gonna be like, oh, hey, man, what's up?
I'm just gonna.
I am looking for. I'm loving the dance party. I was wondering if you could point me in the direction of who's hosting the dance party. Like, who's making the dancing? You know? That's what I'm saying.
[02:33:18] Speaker B: So, Greta, as you say that, one of them, this tiny little bright pink one with all these blue dots, these bright yellow eyes, turns around and goes, hi there, little lady. Dance party's really good.
And I'm trying to think, yeah, no, we're going to go with full Patrick voice. And he goes, yeah, dance party's really good. Glad you're enjoying it. But also, I'd like you to stop. It's been happening for thousands of generations, but also, we don't live that long. Anywho, I don't know who makes it happen, but my forefathers. Forefathers, forefathers forever. Fathers, four mothers, four uncles, four aunts, four cousins, told me that the old guy who used to visit us and have a lot of fun set a joke on us, and now we can't get it on do.
[02:33:57] Speaker F: Got it? Okay, okay. So someone told you a joke.
Now it's.
[02:34:05] Speaker E: It won't stop, Greta.
[02:34:07] Speaker B: I know. I only know the funk. And then he just Starts like, just doing and just all the way down the hall.
[02:34:15] Speaker E: Greta, do you. Tell me. Do you tell Ro all this?
[02:34:18] Speaker B: Love you, Mike.
Love you.
[02:34:22] Speaker D: Now we can talk about my second wife.
Not. Not Landon.
Because the joke is Micah miss the first wife. I just want to clarify, Landon.
[02:34:37] Speaker B: Everyone knew.
[02:34:39] Speaker F: I didn't actually.
[02:34:41] Speaker E: You relay this to Ro.
[02:34:44] Speaker F: Absolutely.
[02:34:47] Speaker E: Well, I know that Greta sometimes likes to keep things to herself.
I want to be respectful. Yeah.
What if he said. He said an old man? You don't think.
[02:35:03] Speaker C: It might be.
[02:35:06] Speaker F: I don't know.
[02:35:07] Speaker E: This seems like something he would do.
[02:35:10] Speaker F: Yeah. I don't know if I have anything that could, like, make this go away.
[02:35:16] Speaker E: Do you think they hear music in their heads?
[02:35:18] Speaker F: I'll ask. Hey, I. I talked to another one, and I like, hey, bud, what's going on? Do you hear music in your head?
[02:35:26] Speaker B: No, only the music in my heart. Cha, cha, cha, cha, cha, cha, cha.
[02:35:31] Speaker E: Maybe ask him what the name of the guy was that pulled the prank. If they know it.
[02:35:35] Speaker F: Dude, do you remember. Do you know the name of the guy that told you that joke that told, like, your forefathers that joke?
[02:35:41] Speaker B: I don't know. You want to wait along? It's about as old as our history.
[02:35:45] Speaker F: Yeah. Okay. That makes sense. Thanks, man.
[02:35:48] Speaker B: They don't. Like, their generations are rapid. Yeah.
This is incomprehensibly so. This means that however they feel about this, maybe they feel good, maybe they feel bad. This has been over their people for, like, a ridiculously amount of time relative to them. This is basically a society formed by dancing. It's been around so long.
[02:36:09] Speaker E: Can they leave? Like, can they. Can they. Can they leave?
[02:36:14] Speaker B: You guys saw that when they walked. When they walked out, it wasn't happening to them. So if they get a certain distance away, they're okay.
[02:36:20] Speaker E: So why don't they just leave? Should we ask them why they don't just leave?
They just leave the cave.
But they could, like, live on top of it and they wouldn't have to dance.
[02:36:34] Speaker F: I'm gonna. I'm gonna ask one of the guys. I'm gonna say, hey, man.
Each time I'm asking, hey, man, what's going on?
[02:36:41] Speaker C: I'm just curious.
[02:36:42] Speaker F: I love the vibe in here. What is the center of this dance party is like, what's the. Is it like you're gonna go toward.
[02:36:52] Speaker B: The heart of the mountain?
[02:36:54] Speaker F: I'm gonna want to go where?
[02:36:56] Speaker B: You're gonna want to go to the.
[02:36:57] Speaker F: Heart of the mountain. One under the mountain, toward the heart of the mountain. Okay, cool.
So what happens if you guys like leave the mountain. Would that, I mean, that would stop the dancing, right?
Okay, cool. Thanks, Anne. Love your moves.
[02:37:16] Speaker B: Okay, bye. If you want to get to the heart of the mountain, you need to go low, low, low, low, low. And then it starts dancing. Lower, lower, lower and lower. Okay, Boz, back to you. You are following the more and more and more and more intense dancing. And what you're learning is what's also happening that's guiding you toward like you are making lefts and rights and lefts and rights. Just picking tunnels. A very circuitous path. You'd have trouble retra.
You are judging where you're going based on the doper the moves are getting, but also how much more coordinated like you're getting. You're walking by flash mobs of myconoids dancing. And that's how you know that it's growing more intense. And as you just bypass with excellent mechanic choices, everything I set up to figure this out, you go lower and lower and lower through the chambers until eventually, Boz, you reach this central chamber where it is this like quarter. You walk down, down, down, down, down, down, down tiles for maybe like half an hour. And you reach this quarter mile wide central chamber of gems.
It's like an airplane hangar of gems.
And all of the gems are in violent striation patterns around the space.
Swaths of diamond, mother of pearl, and huge strips like miles square miles of gemstone around this chamber.
And light is dancing across all of them, creating a ridiculous kaleidoscope disco of light. And it occurs to you, you know how deep magic can transmute stone. This is probably the chamber where the Wellspring originally was and when it was.
Oh, Landon, that's awesome.
I may keep that. That's frickin dope, dude. I might utilize that. That's sick.
When you.
[02:39:12] Speaker E: Wait, what?
[02:39:13] Speaker B: It occurs to you that this is probably the chamber where the Wellspring was evaporated and this is the center of their home. Because this whole chamber is covered in millions of little micanoids having, and this is true, this is canon, the most intense dance part party in the world.
It's like rapture.
And it's one gigantic million micanoid dance party of nothing. But every single micanoid is moving in the same rhythmic motion to what looks like a regaton beat. And they're all just undulating back on forth move, all hips and shoulders.
And in the center of the room, about an eighth of a mile in front of you, if it's uniform, I guess, is a little stone pedestal, maybe 8ft across of pure amethyst.
And there is this floating, maybe 200 pound gemstone that looks like one gigantic black pearl.
Floating, casting black light all around the chamber.
Incredibly magical.
And around it, all of the mica. No, they're all fused together. It's just a massive moving fungus. And it looks like this is the point from which things are most intense and dancing.
[02:40:42] Speaker D: Does it seem like the light is what's causing the.
[02:40:46] Speaker B: Why don't you give me an arcana?
[02:40:48] Speaker D: I'll give you an arcana. Check.
[02:40:49] Speaker B: 19. So hard. Okay. Excellent.
Boz, you tread in between the fungal people. Actually, you can step right on them because you're walking through them.
[02:40:59] Speaker D: I can float over them.
[02:41:00] Speaker B: Right.
[02:41:01] Speaker D: I can move in any direction.
[02:41:02] Speaker B: Boz, you can move up and down. So you can just walk up in the air.
So, Boz, as you just begin walking through the air, over them, walking around this chamber, the black light doesn't. You get close and from a distance. Yeah, that could be what's affecting them. But you.
The black light is refracting rainbow colors out of the gemstone. Now you're putting all this together through grayscale, but the variation is enough in tone that you can kind of tell the difference.
And you put together that. That looks like some sort of extremely specific distilled deep magic.
So that probably wouldn't be a charm because it's too inspecific.
Instead, as you get close. Okay, so with your 19, you get the feeling that whatever's enchanting them is different. It's not the stone.
The stone looks like it's the heart of the mountain. That's maybe this is the crystallized. Correct. Of what was left behind from the deep magic. That kind of enchants the island, sustains its cycle. So that's probably not it at all. There must be some other enchantment going on.
[02:42:15] Speaker D: Okay, I want to take a look at the gems that are around the room.
[02:42:23] Speaker B: Give me. Give me an investigation check.
[02:42:25] Speaker D: Because if the light coming from the pearl is not the problem, I'm thinking that what the light's being turned into.
[02:42:33] Speaker B: After it bounces off might be.
[02:42:37] Speaker A: What?
[02:42:37] Speaker D: What kind of. Check.
[02:42:39] Speaker B: Investigation.
[02:42:40] Speaker D: Okay.
I'm gonna burn my. One of my inspirations.
Two 12s.
Can I cast guidance on myself in this state?
[02:42:50] Speaker B: It's a long process. You're aware you're doing it? Absolutely.
[02:42:55] Speaker D: That is a 13 plus four is 17.
[02:43:02] Speaker B: Okay. Okay. You needed that. It was DC15.
Yes.
You, Boz, are exactly right.
This light poured away from the stone the way it's Refracting off of the gems around the room is what's charming everything.
And that refraction of light is like resonating with a stone and creating this frequency, this low hum. And the hum is the rhythm. And baz as you realize that. So something must be going on with that central stone that's making it turn into this kind of magic that refracts off of everything and enchants them. Enchants them with a spell. You remember seeing this looks like the world's largest and most powerful casting of Otalux's irresistible dance. The same spell that got cast on Ro by Velec months before.
And it looks like it's being cast at an increasing, incredibly large scale.
So you get the feeling that answers probably exist somewhere around that central floating gemstone.
[02:44:17] Speaker D: All right, I'm gonna move.
[02:44:19] Speaker B: Playing and saying things. I need to get a cough drop because my voice is very tired.
[02:44:22] Speaker D: Keep going.
All right. I. I float. I don't know. I can't really role play you guys. You all got a role play?
[02:44:30] Speaker E: What. What happened?
[02:44:31] Speaker B: Like, roll your investigation. Excuse me? Like, keep going with what?
[02:44:34] Speaker D: You're all right. So I snort real loud. Nobody hears it, because I'm ethereal and, you know, I start walking with a swagger over to the giant black pearl. And are there any, like, languages or old things engraved in the rock that I'm sure I don't know.
[02:44:54] Speaker B: Landon, I. Crap you not, dude crazy. Wow, you know me well. Or maybe you're just really, really smart. As you walk over to the central stone, you get close, and there are these little glyphs.
Your modifiers are high enough at this point, you can just put together and recognize they're really intricate discs, stone discs that are inlaid with silver. And the glyphs are enchantment glyphs. And there's just like 20 of them all around the base of that amethyst pedestal underneath the pearl. And they're all casting this dark light onto the pearl.
[02:45:37] Speaker E: Okay, wait, can't he. Can he read them?
No, they're glyphs. Never mind they're glyphs.
[02:45:42] Speaker D: They're not a. I was thinking it.
[02:45:43] Speaker E: Was in a language.
[02:45:44] Speaker B: No, it's okay. In between all of them is a very decrepit, ancient looking piece of paper that has written in.
You speak Sylvan, don't you?
It has written in Sylvan. Can't stop the funk.
P.S. gotcha, guys.
And in this really messy, like, barely legible handwriting. And then underneath the pearl is something else sitting in the very low in the very middle are two pairs, or, excuse me, a pair. Two purple slippers.
They are very dark. Well, it's like. Okay.
Actually, you can't tell the colors on it at all because everything's in grayscale for you. Then it's in the middle of all the dark light. So it's like just all dark colors to you. Very dark slippers with a sort of reflective trim around the front. The slippers come up to those curved, like, kind of like elf shoe tips that have bells on the end. And then there's tiny little shiny bells hanging off of the back of them too, and they're underneath the pearl as well.
[02:46:57] Speaker D: Okay, got it. Is the letter signed by anybody or is it just that line? Gotcha.
P.S. gotcha, guys.
[02:47:10] Speaker B: Just that.
[02:47:13] Speaker D: All right, well, we can't get out of here in time for obdurate. We don't have enough obdurate to leave, so we basically have to solve this and. Or else the funk will take us away.
[02:47:28] Speaker B: You have to solve this or be trapped in the funk.
[02:47:31] Speaker E: Well, you can leave.
[02:47:33] Speaker B: No, no, no, Jack.
[02:47:40] Speaker D: Okay. I think I wait for them to get there, and then I unether myself.
[02:47:48] Speaker B: Okay.
[02:47:50] Speaker E: When I went to go to the restroom, did we just switch to Landon? Like, what happened? Left. Okay. Cuz I was like, what are we doing?
[02:47:58] Speaker B: Giving each other the help action and having the tongues to help you as well.
Give me an investigation check.
One of you can do it with assistance. It should probably be the one with the ridiculously high intelligence. And.
[02:48:16] Speaker E: I mean. Yeah.
[02:48:18] Speaker B: What's your.
[02:48:19] Speaker F: I have a six in investigation.
[02:48:20] Speaker B: It's you. It's undoubtedly you, Abby. It's.
[02:48:25] Speaker E: I have a. I have 20 in intelligence, and I think you have what, 22 or 21.
[02:48:31] Speaker F: Yeah.
[02:48:32] Speaker B: Also make an arcana check for me.
[02:48:35] Speaker E: Yeah, I can do that because I got the high one in that one.
I got a dirty 20 and I got a 23.
[02:48:47] Speaker B: Rogue. It occurs to you, man, given your abilities and powers, this would be a really ideal moment to bartically inspire Greta, given the importance of what you're doing.
[02:48:57] Speaker E: I bartically inspire her, and then she.
[02:49:01] Speaker B: Greta, you feel bardicly inspired and you feel like, oh, this would be a really important time to add that onto your role.
[02:49:08] Speaker F: Come over.
[02:49:10] Speaker E: It's a D10. When I bartically inspire you. It's like.
It's that song that's like can't stop the Funk. Stop the funk.
Yeah.
[02:49:20] Speaker B: I can't stop the.
Can't stop the phone.
[02:49:24] Speaker F: Okay, so that's a dirty 20, plus I dropped it, plus a 7 27. And that way, I'll use my guidance.
[02:49:35] Speaker B: Okay.
[02:49:37] Speaker F: Which is gonna make it a 20, a 30.
[02:49:40] Speaker B: Okay. Greta Boz, you.
You unetherial, you become corporeal.
That's how long you're waiting.
[02:49:51] Speaker E: Oh, okay.
[02:49:54] Speaker F: After three hours.
[02:49:55] Speaker B: After three hours, wait.
[02:49:57] Speaker D: Oh, my obdurate gone. All of our obdurate is gone.
[02:49:59] Speaker E: Yeah. At that point.
[02:50:00] Speaker B: Okay, so now I need charisma saving throws from everybody. Okay, so how long did it take.
[02:50:06] Speaker D: Me to get down there?
[02:50:07] Speaker B: Much less time. You knew exactly where you were going, and you could walk through stuff.
They're like. They had to securitously. They had to circuitously follow paths, listen to people. You were just like, I'm getting it. I'm figuring it out.
[02:50:23] Speaker D: I.
Okay, so if I wait, like, 10 minutes and they're still not there, my brain is not. Like, I'm gonna wait for my ethereal to run out.
[02:50:32] Speaker B: Okay. Okay.
[02:50:34] Speaker D: My thought is I'm gonna run out of charm before that happens. So I like.
[02:50:40] Speaker B: I like to hold off on those Christmas.
[02:50:42] Speaker D: I'm going to unethereal next to the black pearl.
[02:50:45] Speaker B: Boz just condensates in the air and lands next to the podium. The fungal mask moves away from you and keeps jiving.
[02:50:55] Speaker D: And I want to. How big is the pearl? Like, how much space does it take up?
[02:51:00] Speaker B: The Pearl is about six feet. Feet across.
[02:51:04] Speaker F: Wow.
[02:51:06] Speaker D: Six feet across.
[02:51:08] Speaker B: Suspended two feet of the podium, just spinning slowly.
[02:51:12] Speaker D: And there's 20 glyphs around.
[02:51:14] Speaker B: Yeah. 20 stone discs covered in silver inlay with very complex enchantment glyphs placed around the pearl.
[02:51:23] Speaker D: All right, I want to put on the shoes.
[02:51:26] Speaker B: Okay, so, boss, you reach your hand into the black light past the glyphs.
Nothing happens. Then you pick up the shoes.
You hold them in your hand as you pick them up. Oh. And you can see in color again.
Holy crap. One of the most stunning visual moments of your life. And the shoes, as you pick them up, they go.
And they have a very, like, sonorous musical tone as the bells ring. They're a deep purple, like, almost kind of like a crushed velvet.
And there's a gold trim around the edge. Oh, that's literal gold. And the bells hanging off the front and the back are both literal gold.
And they look like they're made out of very soft, flexible material, but they're very durable and strong. And as you. You pick them up, you're not wearing shoes, so you just put them straight on, and you put a slipper on each foot.
You're wearing them.
[02:52:16] Speaker D: Are they. You're wearing That's a little bit.
[02:52:19] Speaker B: Okay.
The bells dance around with you and.
[02:52:26] Speaker D: I stop and I look. Look back at the pearl spinning and. How many glyphs you said are there?
[02:52:31] Speaker B: 20 around the base.
[02:52:33] Speaker D: 20.
[02:52:34] Speaker B: Casting dark light up onto it, which is making a black light all around the room, which is scattering and. Charming.
[02:52:41] Speaker D: I want to my ability. Abilities.
What is primordial ward?
[02:53:04] Speaker B: It's like. I think it protects you from a kind of damage. It's not going to relate to this.
[02:53:08] Speaker D: Got it. Yeah. It's damage protection. Okay.
I don't think I have a whole lot that can be used.
Oh my gosh.
[02:53:23] Speaker B: Go pee pee, Abby.
[02:53:25] Speaker D: Okay.
[02:53:25] Speaker E: Yeah.
[02:53:25] Speaker B: I'm taking the subtle professional messages you send and saying them out loud and ruining it. I'm sorry. I'm a stinker, as Abby would say.
[02:53:36] Speaker D: All right.
I mean, I could cast Druid Grove, but I don't know what that. Is there anything? Let me see.
I think.
Let me see if there's anything I might be able to.
[02:53:47] Speaker B: As you are aware, if you cast Druid Grove here, the trees would probably start dancing.
Now.
[02:53:52] Speaker D: There have to be trees. I can't grow trees.
[02:53:55] Speaker B: There's no trees here.
[02:53:57] Speaker D: But I can do this.
[02:53:58] Speaker B: Underground, there's no trees.
[02:54:02] Speaker D: The spirits of nature to protect an area outdoors or underground be 30 foot cube or as large as a 90 foot cube.
[02:54:10] Speaker E: There's no trees above.
[02:54:12] Speaker D: I dispel magic cast on the area.
[02:54:14] Speaker B: Okay.
[02:54:14] Speaker D: I start casting Druid Grove.
[02:54:17] Speaker B: Wait, what? Sorry. Yeah.
[02:54:19] Speaker D: Druid Grove.
[02:54:20] Speaker B: Grove's part. You just read half a sentence and then shouted and got a.
[02:54:22] Speaker D: The entire warded area radiates magic. A dispel magic is cast on the area.
[02:54:28] Speaker B: Incredible. Wait.
[02:54:29] Speaker D: No, no, no. I dispel magic cast on the area. If success Lord moves only one of the following. Never mind. It's. That's midnight talking.
[02:54:38] Speaker B: Nothing.
[02:54:39] Speaker D: It's not gonna work.
No, no, no. I don't. I. It does not. It says the entire down there.
[02:54:46] Speaker B: Could you give me an arcana check? Yes.
[02:54:50] Speaker D: That's 21.
[02:54:54] Speaker B: The Glyphic series. Looks like the disks look like they're what is controlling.
They look like they are what are casting the effect on this central stone to the mountain.
[02:55:07] Speaker D: Are they in the stone or are they disks floating?
[02:55:11] Speaker B: They're disks resting on the stone on the stone tablet over which I thought.
[02:55:15] Speaker D: They were part of the stone.
[02:55:18] Speaker B: I had you make the check because I realized I didn't give the clearest visual description, which is on me. That's okay.
[02:55:23] Speaker D: No worries. I. That makes more sense. I start collecting them.
[02:55:26] Speaker B: I pick them up. So, boss, here's what happens. You reach forward for one of the stones in this complicated well carved. I mean, a very powerful caster must have set these up. You reach forward and you go to pick up one of the stones, and you pick up one of the discs, and then black light disappears. Whole thing stops.
You interrupt the chain moving one of the discs, all of the dark light quits being cast. The black pearl is white.
All the black light turns to bright light.
All of the light refracting on the chamber just turns to bright light. And all the fungi stop.
And the entire place stop stance.
All that had to happen for all these decades was that somebody just had to move on to the disc.
[02:56:18] Speaker E: It's been decades or centuries.
I know. Players don't know. Okay.
[02:56:25] Speaker B: No, who knows? I mean, like, it's thousands of their generations. All someone had to do was move one of the discs.
[02:56:31] Speaker E: But maybe they doing strong enough or smart enough.
[02:56:39] Speaker B: So somebody might have meant this as a little joke, and it might have gotten really out of hand. Oh, no, Boz, you're holding one of the little discs, and the pearl's fine.
[02:56:49] Speaker D: Now, can I put it back in with the discs that they start dancing again?
[02:56:55] Speaker B: You put the disc back down. Dark light, black light. Everybody goes back dancing.
You hear around you thousands of little. And then you take this disc out, and then everybody goes down back to not dancing. And then you watch all of the fungi just moving out of the chamber, trying to get away from it. Not sure if you're going to keep doing it.
[02:57:15] Speaker D: I want to pick up the rest of the discs. How many?
[02:57:17] Speaker B: There's just 20 of them. You can collect 20 abjurational discs.
[02:57:22] Speaker D: Yay. I have 20 abjurvational discs.
[02:57:32] Speaker B: Also. You guys can't tell me that this separate matter. Your satchel. Your satchel is getting pretty full. It's got a lot of stuff in it.
But please continue. Sorry.
[02:57:41] Speaker E: How heavy are these discs?
[02:57:43] Speaker D: They're heavy enough to be carried.
[02:57:44] Speaker B: They're like. They're like.
They're like teacup platters.
[02:57:49] Speaker E: Because I was just gonna say I could take half if you wanted, but anyhow, I just.
[02:57:54] Speaker D: One didn't want to lose him. It seems like some that might come in handy, especially if you want to, like, play a joke on Tello, because we've learned nothing from this exercise.
[02:58:05] Speaker B: Okay, so, Boz, you have. It's over. The curse. Other people is just done. So you have whatever these slippers are.
[02:58:11] Speaker E: Ro and Greta notice that everyone stops dancing.
[02:58:14] Speaker B: Yeah. You guys are like, okay. And then Maybe if we go this way, and then. And then everyone stops dancing.
[02:58:21] Speaker D: I sit down there and just wait for everybody to get there with the pearl.
[02:58:24] Speaker B: Okay. Want to touch it, too?
[02:58:29] Speaker E: I feel what you say. What you say, boss?
[02:58:33] Speaker D: I don't like.
[02:58:34] Speaker E: No, what did he say?
[02:58:35] Speaker D: I don't like Zach's face.
[02:58:36] Speaker E: No, what did you say?
What did you say, Landon?
[02:58:41] Speaker D: I said I want to give the pearl a little kiss.
[02:58:45] Speaker E: Oh, no, no.
[02:58:47] Speaker B: Could somebody wait?
[02:58:50] Speaker E: Let's tell Abby what just happens while you figure out whatever you're doing. So, Abby.
[02:58:58] Speaker D: I love my lips.
[02:58:59] Speaker E: We were. We were. It took us a while to go there, and so Boz decided to pick up one of the.
Boss decided to pick up one of the aberrational discs, and it stopped it, so everything's fine.
And he took all of them. And the little mushrooms aren't dancing. And the black pearl turned into a white pearl. And then Landon said he wants to give the pearl a little kiss. And then Zach made a face like when Landon said he wanted to touch the tree and when I said I wanted to identify old.
So we're worried. And that's where you came back in.
[02:59:50] Speaker D: It's a respectful little smooch, Zach. It's not like a maybe you blow.
[02:59:54] Speaker E: It a kiss buzz.
[02:59:55] Speaker F: Yeah.
[02:59:56] Speaker D: Touch it. What if I just touch it?
[02:59:58] Speaker E: I don't want to have to blow it a kiss. Just a mwah.
Just a mwah.
[03:00:05] Speaker F: Let.
[03:00:06] Speaker D: Oh, God, Zach, is this. Am I making an awful choice?
[03:00:11] Speaker B: Give me an odds or evens.
[03:00:13] Speaker E: Oh, my God.
[03:00:15] Speaker D: Odds.
[03:00:17] Speaker F: I'm gonna go back to the bathroom. Just hang out there for a little bit.
[03:00:20] Speaker B: Okay. Five. It's a five.
We're gonna be okay.
We're gonna be okay because it's a five.
[03:00:30] Speaker D: Let's go gambling.
[03:00:32] Speaker B: Oh, dang it. Oh, dang it. Could you roll me a D100?
[03:00:36] Speaker E: No, not the D100.
[03:00:45] Speaker D: That is 61.
[03:00:47] Speaker E: Is that what I rolled earlier?
[03:00:49] Speaker B: Okay, well, I rolled a 62. No way.
[03:00:52] Speaker D: Why is this happening, Zachary?
[03:00:56] Speaker B: I don't know. Maybe the dice are trying to teach you something.
So.
Okay, so here's the thing. This is this good time for some transparency. So this is a heartstone of a mountain. You guys haven't been introduced to that Yalbranian concept? Yep. The war is the well know it well.
But this and in this mountain, it's a big deal because this is literally deposit of deep magic left behind when the entire Wellspring evaporated. So you are, once again, with incredible gusto and confidence, interacting with one of the most Powerful magical objects in the world.
And so you reach up and try and kiss the stone that literally keeps all of the magic and foo foomph alive. You try to give it a little peck, but you succeeded. Your first odds or evens.
So you are not immediately forever turned into gemstone.
That's really great. You're not obliterated.
You are not obliterated.
For the second time. For the second time in this campaign, your life is not instantly and forever lost by deciding to touch an incredibly magical object.
[03:02:17] Speaker D: I'm never doing this again.
[03:02:18] Speaker B: Zachary, you are the luckiest player ever.
Wow. Okay.
[03:02:27] Speaker D: I'm never doing this again. I'm never doing this again.
[03:02:30] Speaker E: Zachary, I think you said that last time.
[03:02:34] Speaker B: No, I'm sorry. I'm just feeling relief because boss didn't just suddenly die.
Okay, so everything's good. We're okay now.
The 61 thing. The 61. So what does happen is, Boz, you touch the incredible power of the heartstone of all of foo foomph.
And so I'll have you make. Let me go get a player's handbook real quick. Talk to each other real quick.
[03:03:08] Speaker E: You're still wearing the shoes, aren't you?
[03:03:11] Speaker D: I'm still wearing the shoes.
[03:03:12] Speaker B: It's gotta count.
[03:03:14] Speaker E: Purple velvet. I feel like purple. Isn't purple one of Nifty's like, vibes?
[03:03:18] Speaker D: What if y'all thought the note was for me? Like, y'all showed up and I was like, showed up, and I'm just made of amethyst, and it's like, got you guys. And I'm like, kiss.
[03:03:28] Speaker E: Yeah, you're in this position.
[03:03:33] Speaker D: Put an awful way. Y'all better not tell anybody.
[03:03:36] Speaker B: Could you give me an intelligence saving throwballs?
[03:03:40] Speaker D: Yes.
[03:03:41] Speaker E: Can he hear some bardic inspiration from deep within the Caverns?
[03:03:47] Speaker B: Ro give me an odds or evens odds. 1615.
As Boz, you guys run in and all of the fungi have been saved.
And Baz is kissing a giant, spinning six foot across, bright light shining a magical flowing pearl. And he just reaches up and goes. And you guys watch that. He's also got these bright purple slippers on with these gold bells. And as you guys watch in. Bro, what do you do at the last moment to be like, oh, no, no, no. Start playing something.
[03:04:24] Speaker E: I'm worried because Baz is touching stuff again.
[03:04:27] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, yeah, he does.
[03:04:28] Speaker E: In the middle of rooms. And so I just go, Boz. And I go and I take a page out of Shelby's book and I play what he played earlier. And instead of yelling, terrence, I yell Pause.
[03:04:42] Speaker B: So as you do, Boz, you can add a Bardic inspiration die onto your D100 roll, which is really good.
[03:04:50] Speaker D: D100 or a saving throw.
[03:04:52] Speaker E: Excuse me.
[03:04:52] Speaker B: Intelligence saving throw. I'm sorry, I'm so stressed out right now.
[03:04:55] Speaker E: D10.
[03:04:57] Speaker D: Okay, I'm gonna use my inspiration.
Okay?
So my. That is a 10 plus 5, which is a 15. So now I'm going to roll my D and I have double inspiration.
[03:05:17] Speaker E: Nice.
[03:05:19] Speaker B: Okay, I'll say this for you, Landon. You earn it and you use it. You know what I mean? You earn it.
[03:05:24] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, so that is 19.
[03:05:30] Speaker B: Okay, 19 plus.
[03:05:31] Speaker D: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. 19. I'm still doing things.
[03:05:34] Speaker B: Good, good, good, good, good, good, good.
[03:05:36] Speaker D: So that is. That is 28.
[03:05:39] Speaker B: That's the number I want to hear.
[03:05:40] Speaker D: 5:32.
[03:05:43] Speaker B: Good.
[03:05:43] Speaker E: Oh, wait, what all did you add to that?
[03:05:46] Speaker D: I have midnight landed 14 on the dice, plus a nine on the D10, which is a 21 plus 23 plus a. Sorry, I'm stressed. Plus a five, which is 28.
[03:06:02] Speaker B: Okay, with the five you save, you save Boz.
DC25.
So you're gonna take 16 points of psychic damage.
[03:06:12] Speaker D: Okay?
[03:06:15] Speaker B: No, it's fine. That was really not the big consequence here.
And you are not feeble minded.
[03:06:22] Speaker D: No, I have my boon.
Oh, my gosh. I swear, there's a psychic damage. It doesn't matter. But there's a psychic damage thing on there. I thought.
[03:06:30] Speaker B: Yeah, it's okay. You've got a ton of hit points and you're fine. The point is you're not feeble minded.
[03:06:34] Speaker D: Okay?
[03:06:34] Speaker B: As a DC25 thing to not get feeble minded. If you feeble minded, your intelligence and. And charisma scores would have been one for the next month and you would not have been able to speak and you would have only been able to recognize who your friends were and move.
[03:06:51] Speaker F: Wow.
[03:06:52] Speaker E: Character. Have that before.
Yeah, it was weird. It was interesting.
[03:07:00] Speaker B: So, Boz, you're okay.
So you all watch as Baz just. Just like as. As everything's solved. You run into the chamber. The microids are good. And Boz reaches up and goes. And then all of a sudden he goes. It just like falls over the store floor babbling and a little blood comes out of his nose, but he's okay. And you guys are there.
[03:07:22] Speaker E: I rush over to him and I don't cast cure wounds because I don't want any thingies to happen.
But I. I cradle his head and.
[03:07:31] Speaker B: I'm like, please do not.
[03:07:32] Speaker D: Please do not c cast Spells.
[03:07:36] Speaker E: Are you okay? What happened? Why did you kiss that thing? What is it?
[03:07:40] Speaker D: It was just so pretty and I just wanted.
[03:07:45] Speaker B: I don't know. It's beautiful.
[03:07:47] Speaker E: Was it you that stopped the dancing?
[03:07:50] Speaker B: Yeah.
[03:07:50] Speaker D: These dub discs, they had the purple shoes.
[03:07:54] Speaker B: Pearl and I put them on.
[03:07:55] Speaker E: I like the shoes. The shoes are nice.
[03:07:57] Speaker D: Yeah, it's nice.
[03:07:58] Speaker F: Are you okay, boss?
[03:08:00] Speaker B: I'm fine.
[03:08:02] Speaker F: Well, you saved the day. We did it.
[03:08:05] Speaker E: Are the mushrooms, like, cheering or anything or are they gone?
[03:08:09] Speaker B: They're just going about their business.
[03:08:11] Speaker E: Okay, whose. Whose shoes are those?
[03:08:15] Speaker D: I don't know. I don't know who they are. But this note was here, and it looks like someone played a joke and then thought they were gonna figure it out and then just left it for forever. So I don't know who that was.
[03:08:27] Speaker F: Can I. Can I hold on to it?
[03:08:29] Speaker D: Yeah.
[03:08:32] Speaker F: I picked up that every time a spell gets cast, things happen.
[03:08:39] Speaker B: Yeah. All of you guys are very certain, but you're. It also seems like the higher the level of the spell, the more likely something to happen.
[03:08:47] Speaker E: Can I.
[03:08:48] Speaker B: Lower levels seem to be less intense.
[03:08:50] Speaker E: Can I. Can I see if I recognize the handwriting on the note?
[03:08:58] Speaker B: Yes, you may give me a history check.
[03:09:01] Speaker E: Are you going to do that thing where I.
[03:09:03] Speaker B: No matter what. This is a valid check. This is a valid check because this is.
[03:09:07] Speaker E: I can see handwriting and stuff like.
[03:09:10] Speaker B: This is a very reasonable check.
[03:09:12] Speaker E: Oh, it's cocked.
History.
[03:09:18] Speaker B: You say history, I say.
[03:09:24] Speaker E: It'S a 17.
[03:09:27] Speaker B: It's okay. It was not the highest. You see, because you've seen this handwriting repeatedly before. It's not Nifty's.
Or rather, you've not seen this handwriting repeatedly before. It's not Nifty's handwriting.
[03:09:39] Speaker E: I was like, what? What do you mean? I've seen it repeatedly. Who is it if I've seen it repeatedly?
[03:09:45] Speaker B: Looks like it's. Looks like there was at some point a very. Another. Another very powerful practical joker in the world.
[03:09:52] Speaker E: Hey, balls. Isn't your. Isn't your dude, you know, Isn't he, like, known for jokes or stuff?
[03:10:00] Speaker D: Yeah, he's chaotic. I don't know if he does jokes. It's more scary when he does stuff.
[03:10:06] Speaker E: That'S like, he doesn't like to pull little. Little pranks.
[03:10:10] Speaker B: I don't think he would leave a.
[03:10:11] Speaker D: Note saying, got you guys. I don't know. I could ask him, but, I mean.
[03:10:16] Speaker E: It'S up to you. I was just wondering. Okay, interesting.
[03:10:21] Speaker D: I'm, like, feeling myself like. I'm like, is anything?
[03:10:23] Speaker B: Is everything like, boss. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[03:10:29] Speaker E: Balls. By the way, where were you? You were like. You disappear.
[03:10:33] Speaker D: Yeah, just. I was the ghost.
No, I was, like, ethereal. I was just around you guys the whole time. I tried waving at y'all for, like, a few minutes, and then I just left to go explore.
I figured y'all would get here eventually.
[03:10:47] Speaker E: Yeah, we. We figured it out.
Wow.
[03:10:51] Speaker F: It's gonna be so stressed up there. We left for you.
[03:10:58] Speaker E: Also, I'm smash.
[03:11:00] Speaker B: Smash. Cut to Tello, sitting outside on a stone, and he's just like.
And one of the little Mike and dudes in front of me is just going. Am I?
Intel is just going.
I mean, that's what I would have said.
And they're just going back and forth, and he's just listening patiently.
[03:11:22] Speaker E: A.
[03:11:23] Speaker B: Also, Craig's there doing Craig things.
[03:11:28] Speaker E: Craig? No, not anymore. It's been an hour.
[03:11:32] Speaker B: Does anybody do anything with the sleepers balls?
[03:11:35] Speaker E: Are you gonna keep.
[03:11:36] Speaker D: I'm wearing.
[03:11:37] Speaker E: Wait, wait. Balls.
Do you think if I take it off and put it on my foot, it'll. It'll become my size?
[03:11:44] Speaker D: Maybe. But you can't, because I'm wearing them.
[03:11:46] Speaker E: Can I try it? And she. She's still laying on the ground. She picks one off and puts it on her foot.
[03:11:51] Speaker B: No, I.
[03:11:51] Speaker D: You don't. I turn into a bird and fly away.
[03:11:56] Speaker B: Okay. Pause Wild shapes into a bird and just begins.
[03:12:02] Speaker E: Wait, hold on.
[03:12:04] Speaker B: Not a spell.
[03:12:05] Speaker E: No, but how did you. How did you fly away that fast before? I just asked you about the slippers.
[03:12:10] Speaker B: You know what? Good point. Can I get dex checks? Can I get.
Go ahead.
[03:12:17] Speaker D: You said I reach for the slippers and take them off. Off and pull out of my feet.
[03:12:20] Speaker B: And she does have the opportunity to do that.
[03:12:23] Speaker E: Yeah.
[03:12:24] Speaker B: This can turn into a contestant check.
[03:12:25] Speaker D: I guess my, like, root scrapple stuff have any effect on this or, like, health?
[03:12:31] Speaker B: This would basically just be roll initiative for me. Both of you. It doesn't need to be combat, but just how quickly you can react. Yeah, it's like the definition of initiative. So just both roll initiative for me.
[03:12:40] Speaker E: Okay.
[03:12:40] Speaker B: It's like the definition of this.
[03:12:42] Speaker D: What is initiative?
[03:12:44] Speaker B: D20 plus dex.
[03:12:46] Speaker D: All right.
That is a natural 20. I'm not even joking. And my Dex modifier is.
[03:12:53] Speaker E: I got.
[03:12:54] Speaker B: What is it?
[03:12:55] Speaker D: The deck modifiers. Plus four, so that's 24.
[03:12:59] Speaker E: Ah, dang it. My dex modifier is plus five, but I rolled a 17, so 23.
[03:13:07] Speaker B: Okay, Boz, beating row by one with your third net of the night. You just row. You just miss his foot, and he turns into a bird. Now we're going to smash cut because we don't need to waste the time. Party's all back outside, boss. Is a bird flying around. And you guys are all outside. You've. You've reemerged.
[03:13:27] Speaker E: Balls. I just want to see if the slippers are, like, magical in any way. I don't want to take the slippers from you.
[03:13:38] Speaker D: They're not magical.
[03:13:40] Speaker B: Are you not a bird, boss?
[03:13:41] Speaker E: Are you a bird?
[03:13:44] Speaker D: A car?
I land next to her and I say, all right, fine. And I take the slippers off and I hand them to her.
[03:13:53] Speaker E: I just want to see if they're magical.
[03:13:55] Speaker B: Her pauses have tried again. And you are holding the slippers, bro.
[03:13:57] Speaker E: I take off my boot and I put on the slipper and see if it does anything different.
[03:14:03] Speaker B: Reforms to the size of your foot balls.
[03:14:06] Speaker E: They're any size slippers.
[03:14:08] Speaker D: They are.
[03:14:10] Speaker E: That's so cool.
[03:14:11] Speaker B: She.
[03:14:11] Speaker E: She grabs it and she casts identify on it.
[03:14:15] Speaker B: Excellent. Okay, so, Ro, you focus and pluck. Your mind is flooded with information. But before that happens, can you roll a D100 for me?
[03:14:24] Speaker A: Crack like a cracker.
[03:14:26] Speaker B: Yeah.
[03:14:26] Speaker D: I was wondering what you were going to do to figure it out. She's not gonna cast.
[03:14:30] Speaker B: She's got this time already. I bet this time something good's gonna happen to Ro.
[03:14:35] Speaker D: I hope beard comes back.
[03:14:38] Speaker B: If that happens, everyone but Ro would get inspiration.
[03:14:44] Speaker E: 84.
[03:14:46] Speaker B: 84.
[03:14:48] Speaker E: So terrified.
[03:14:49] Speaker B: It was a lot of work to make this table, but it was worth it.
[03:14:52] Speaker D: I'm glad we're getting Jackie.
[03:14:55] Speaker B: Yeah. I made. I made a. I made a table all mine with a hundred different roll results. I'm gonna have you reroll. Actually, no, I'll have you choose. I'll have you choose. The benefit of this is something you can already do. It would just be no effect for you. So if you're like, no, no, no, no, no, no. I'll take my. My nothing roll. That's fine. Or you can reroll to try and get a positive effect. I'm just gonna give you the choice because it, like, if you're going, if you want the chance of something positive, it sucks to just have a roll that does nothing. Or if you're like, no, no, no, that's fine. You can have it.
Your call.
[03:15:27] Speaker E: Every part of my being says don't, but I want to reroll.
[03:15:31] Speaker B: Okay. So go.
I mean, the identify will work.
It's just what happens first.
[03:15:39] Speaker E: 45.
[03:15:40] Speaker B: 45.
Thank you for playing.
[03:15:44] Speaker E: Thank you for playing. Oh, no, you die.
[03:15:52] Speaker B: For me.
I don't want to.
[03:15:55] Speaker D: You gotta though I love seeing Zach so happy.
[03:15:59] Speaker E: A four.
[03:16:00] Speaker B: Oh, good.
Really?
[03:16:04] Speaker E: Yes.
[03:16:10] Speaker B: Literally. Guys, sometimes the dice just tell the best story.
[03:16:14] Speaker E: What was. What would I have. What would I have gotten? Not gotten. Just out of curiosity.
[03:16:19] Speaker B: The ability to do vicious mockery, which you already have.
[03:16:23] Speaker E: No.
[03:16:23] Speaker B: For the next five days, you have uncontrollable bout of flashes at random, each of which lasts for a minute or so. During this time, you have a minus 10 penalty to stealth checks.
[03:16:35] Speaker F: Wow.
[03:16:35] Speaker E: This is Ro's worst nightmare.
[03:16:37] Speaker B: So Ro, you cast identify. And right as you feel the divination enter your mind, Ro goes. Her face slackens as information fills her minds. And as she has a vision of information, you guys just hear where I go for like a minute straight.
And Ro, your mind is flooded with the following. You hold.
I assume this is a no taking nerd moment. Nesmit. N E, Z, N E, Z, V, M, I T. Nesvmit.
And then apostrophe S. Nesmitz. It's possessive. Nesvmitz. Demure slippers.
[03:17:26] Speaker E: Demure.
[03:17:28] Speaker D: She wanted them until that word was part of the name.
[03:17:31] Speaker B: Sometimes I do things for you. Nesmitz Demure slippers.
They are. I've already described the visual design.
They are magical slippers which require attunement and they have the following effects. So I'll let you write this down.
When attuned and worn, obviously they give the wearer a minus two to stealth. Jingling everywhere they walk.
Jingling very softly, but jingling.
[03:18:01] Speaker F: You should give it to Chris.
[03:18:03] Speaker E: Yeah, I.
[03:18:04] Speaker D: They're my slippers. I'm taking them back.
[03:18:06] Speaker B: They also increase your movement.
[03:18:09] Speaker D: What did you say?
[03:18:11] Speaker B: They also increase your movement speed by 10ft, so they make you 10ft faster. Now if you're in a different form, obviously that doesn't apply like wild shaped or something, but if you're just. If you're you and you're walking, you're 10ft faster.
They also. Oh, are you ready for the next one?
They increase your AC by one.
Wow.
[03:18:32] Speaker E: Yeah.
[03:18:33] Speaker B: And they let you cast the vicious mockery cantrip as a bonus action.
[03:18:40] Speaker F: That's awesome.
[03:18:40] Speaker E: Oh, that's cool.
[03:18:42] Speaker B: Now when you do so, you get to roll an extra damage die for the vicious mockery. So you cast vicious mockery and then you know it's a cantrip. So like it's damage scales with whatever level you are. But whatever you do, you cast, you roll one extra damage die.
So they make you less stealthy but faster. And they let you insult someone for psychic damage whenever you're running away from them.
[03:19:08] Speaker D: Jackie, now we can do bouts of vicious mockery at each other.
[03:19:15] Speaker E: Do I. Do I know who Can I do a rumors.
[03:19:22] Speaker B: You do not know who Nesmet is?
[03:19:24] Speaker E: I can't do rumors or history chat rumors.
I'm proficient in rumors.
[03:19:29] Speaker B: But some things. Some things are a little. Some things you don't know who Nesmith is. Now, if you want divination magic later, you could try. But there's an auto check here.
[03:19:39] Speaker E: Could I put together though that if these slippers are his, looks like Nesmit.
[03:19:47] Speaker B: Was the person who did this.
[03:19:48] Speaker E: Hard though to do vicious mockery and the. The bells and stuff.
[03:19:55] Speaker B: Could be. Not sure.
[03:19:59] Speaker F: Zachary, I have a question.
[03:20:01] Speaker B: I have an answer.
[03:20:02] Speaker D: I've been. I have an empty attit slot. I'm excited. I would. I was. I left. I was trying to get one in un and I didn't have anything to fill it.
[03:20:08] Speaker F: So my question is, would it. I just don't want to make a bad choice.
Would it be. Not right now. Kiss the pearl on the way back? Would it be a bad choice to cast legend lore in that area in the cave?
[03:20:30] Speaker B: You could certainly try.
[03:20:33] Speaker F: I just don't want to put the.
[03:20:34] Speaker D: Shoes on before she does that. Just.
I don't know what's gonna happen.
[03:20:38] Speaker B: Give the shoes back.
[03:20:40] Speaker E: Yeah, I give all the information to him.
[03:20:46] Speaker F: I mean like in the cave. Like with the pearl.
Oh, with the pearl.
[03:20:53] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah.
You could. You could certainly do that if you want to.
[03:20:57] Speaker F: I might do that on the way back, but I don't think I will do that.
[03:21:02] Speaker B: We're doing fine on time. We technically go to 1230. We have the time. But I also know everyone's tired. Do you want that to be like the last thing in the session? And you want to do that? Yeah.
[03:21:09] Speaker F: No.
[03:21:10] Speaker D: No.
[03:21:11] Speaker B: Do you want to do that next session or this session?
[03:21:13] Speaker D: I'm not doing this session. Close out.
[03:21:18] Speaker B: Up to you. Completely up to you, Abby.
[03:21:20] Speaker E: Yeah, it's up to you. It's your spell.
[03:21:21] Speaker B: It works as a bookend. But I also recognize you're tired and I don't want to pressure you into it.
[03:21:26] Speaker F: I think I'll do it next time.
[03:21:28] Speaker B: Okay. Just please write that down so you don't forget or something. I'll trust you. Remember that. But. Okay.
[03:21:35] Speaker F: Just worry that it'll make.
[03:21:36] Speaker B: It'll be bad.
[03:21:38] Speaker F: But we'll see.
[03:21:41] Speaker B: Okay, so with that boss, you can put Nesmit's demure slippers in your inventory. And do you attune to them?
Yes. Okay, so your last two minute slot is filled and you now your movement speed increases. By 10. You have a plus one to AC, a minus two to stealth and you can cast vicious mockery as a bonus action rolling an extra damage die.
Wow.
[03:22:05] Speaker D: I think I have an AC of 20 now.
[03:22:07] Speaker B: That's crazy.
[03:22:09] Speaker E: Ridiculous.
[03:22:14] Speaker B: Okay. All right. And with that that is the end of episode 119 of the Accidental Adventures.
Fungi to another.
You guys gain because you solved the whole mystery this session. You guys gain 0.04 levels.
So what are you guys at?
[03:22:35] Speaker D: 762. 11.762.
[03:22:39] Speaker B: Okay.
And that was a bizarre wild session. I can't believe Boz almost insta died again.
Great session everyone. If you guys want more of Colton like Jackie said, he's on the Patreon with a bunch of dope bonus content. But otherwise life is an incredible adventure. Man, I love the lost lands. You are an important part of it and we can't wait to see you next time. Skibidi wild ndada Bye.
