Episode Transcript
[00:00:02] Speaker A: Welcome back to D and D.
We.
[00:00:04] Speaker B: Only wear pink on Wednesday.
On Wednesdays, we wear pink. You can't sit with us.
[00:00:11] Speaker A: And I actually have all of the control.
[00:00:17] Speaker B: You're wearing pink and it's not Wednesday.
You can't sit with us.
[00:00:24] Speaker C: I like the. Jackie just gave up.
[00:00:25] Speaker A: On Wednesdays. Not okay.
[00:00:27] Speaker D: I don't even go here.
[00:00:31] Speaker C: Just ask someone.
[00:00:37] Speaker A: I'm your host.
[00:00:39] Speaker C: The really funny thing about all this is that Abby's approach has been to not stop talking. She has the lowest audio quality, so if anyone starts talking, she just gets cut out.
[00:00:48] Speaker A: And that's the way it's always happening.
[00:00:50] Speaker C: It's happening right now in my Ears podcast.
[00:00:53] Speaker A: And who does not add Us edit this podcast. Just keep in mind that I'm in charge. Even though I don't edit the podcast.
[00:01:03] Speaker D: She's in charge.
[00:01:05] Speaker C: Welcome back to Daily D and D, your sort of Dungeons and Dragons podcast. We are back Dairy.
[00:01:09] Speaker A: You did say Daily dnd remember who's in charge? Dm, it is me.
[00:01:14] Speaker D: We are not pro dairy on this podcast. I just want.
[00:01:18] Speaker B: I am not pro dairy.
[00:01:21] Speaker D: I am against big dairy.
[00:01:25] Speaker C: Welcome back to Barely D and D, your sort of Dungeons and Dragons podcast. This is more of the Accidental adventures. And today the adventure is feeling very accidental.
Before we get into our 133rd episode, our ledger question is this. If your character had a reusable water receptacle or portal, what would it be? And what would be in it? Also, who's the.
Hello.
[00:01:55] Speaker D: But I know that's boring.
[00:01:57] Speaker C: Could we not. We pick him so much, and I do love him. Could we pick somebody else?
[00:02:02] Speaker A: What about Shaguber.
[00:02:06] Speaker D: Cloth?
[00:02:06] Speaker B: Easy. It would be apple juice.
[00:02:08] Speaker A: We haven't picked.
[00:02:09] Speaker C: Oh, my goodness. Yes.
[00:02:14] Speaker D: No.
[00:02:15] Speaker C: A fresh npc. Also known as a.
[00:02:21] Speaker B: What about Score.
[00:02:23] Speaker D: Those dudes stare. It would just be the blood of babies or something. I don't know.
[00:02:29] Speaker C: Jeez, Jackie, calm down.
What about morose infant mentality? Has to be a thing in magical worlds, but you don't talk about it.
What'd you say?
[00:02:41] Speaker B: Abby, we really have a hard time hearing you.
[00:02:43] Speaker C: Yeah, Abby, you gotta do something with the headphone mic or something. You guys are teasing me. Oh, better. What'd you do?
[00:02:51] Speaker A: Is this any better?
[00:02:52] Speaker D: It is.
[00:02:54] Speaker C: What'd you do?
[00:02:54] Speaker A: Okay, I don't know.
[00:02:59] Speaker C: Madame Meesecore. Going once, going twice.
[00:03:02] Speaker A: I say. I say one. Maybe like Tello's dad or Rose Dad.
[00:03:08] Speaker D: Yeah, my dad. We've never.
[00:03:11] Speaker C: Two character dimensions. Let's go with Jeff.
[00:03:14] Speaker D: You meant boss.
[00:03:17] Speaker C: Starting with Krieg. What is Krieg's?
Liquid receptacle.
[00:03:23] Speaker B: I feel like this is gonna be.
[00:03:27] Speaker C: So weird fluid, so.
[00:03:30] Speaker B: You know what? This is gonna be so weird.
[00:03:33] Speaker C: Go for it.
Yeah.
[00:03:36] Speaker B: So you know those, like, old timey, like, water pouches?
[00:03:42] Speaker C: Like a. Like a water skin?
[00:03:45] Speaker B: Yeah, it's a water.
[00:03:46] Speaker C: All of you guys have.
[00:03:48] Speaker B: Oh, wait, yeah, we all have that. Because it is that time. Okay.
[00:03:52] Speaker C: And lean into it. Don't apologize. Micah, what's in Craig's waters?
[00:03:56] Speaker B: I just realized I'm gonna be describing the exact thing that we have.
So I. I don't want to do that to me in real life. This is cool, but not. Not there.
I'm gonna say by choice, Craig would prefer to drink out of.
I'm gonna say a crystal glass that is like.
Like, if we're going, like, high. Leaning into his.
[00:04:26] Speaker C: A decanter. He's just walking around the crystal decanter. Just.
[00:04:29] Speaker B: No, no, no. This isn't like his choice of, like, walking drinking thing. This is him, like, sitting down, like, what he prefers to drink out of and, like, what's in it. So I'm gonna say he likes to. I think it's, like, visually interesting for him to see the crystal and to, like, dissect it, like, visually and analyze it and to understand what it was.
[00:04:51] Speaker C: Made of and stuff like that. Makes sense.
[00:04:53] Speaker B: Oh, it's like a crystal glass.
Like, the design of it. But inside. He's not much of like a. A wine or, like, alcohol person, but he maintained that morality.
[00:05:05] Speaker C: But at every.
[00:05:08] Speaker B: He maintained that morality, but everything else. No a Went to crap. So kind of funny.
[00:05:13] Speaker C: He was like, people are like, would you like chicken or fish? And he's like, I'm so. People, like, get it.
[00:05:20] Speaker B: He's like, I might have been a bad dad, but at least I wasn't an alcoholic.
[00:05:26] Speaker C: Writing that quote down. Writing that quote.
[00:05:29] Speaker A: Aw, that's great.
[00:05:31] Speaker B: I think that he would like to have.
I don't know, I kind of was put on the spot something red similar to this.
[00:05:47] Speaker D: But I think he would. I could see Craig walking around with fruit punch.
[00:05:50] Speaker B: It's like a pink drink.
It's a pink drink. It's like a. Yeah.
[00:05:56] Speaker C: Cocktail guy to me. Like, yeah, vacation.
My tie possible?
[00:06:03] Speaker B: Actually, it's a mocktail.
[00:06:06] Speaker C: Of course.
All right.
[00:06:11] Speaker A: And it's just, like, super sweet. Oh.
[00:06:13] Speaker B: And he pretends in his mind.
Yeah. In his mind. It is the blood of Dulgoth.
[00:06:22] Speaker C: Barbarian habits die hard. What about Ragh?
[00:06:28] Speaker D: I'm chewing on a really dry cracker right now. Sorry.
Okay.
[00:06:33] Speaker C: Going to.
[00:06:34] Speaker D: No, I got this okay.
No, go ahead.
[00:06:39] Speaker A: Okay, it's me. Turn.
I think that Greta would have.
If this. We're gonna pretend that this is real life and modern times. And she would have, like, a plastic Nalgene with, like, the sippy cup top. Like the. You know, the top that you, like, flip up and it.
And not based on plas. On any. Any possible real life experience, but the little. The part. The, like, the squishy part that, like, you drink out of gets a little moldy. And she is so attached. She is so attached to this water bottle. It is like she is not.
So she just keeps it. Maybe it's good for her, she hopes. But it's definitely, like, kind of dark and, like, like splotchy in there. And I think she would probably drink, like, mostly tap water.
Maybe sometimes she would make, like, some tea and put it in there and, like, put it in there with the tea bags and just steep it for way too long. So it's like really, like, over steeped tap water tea that's really bitter. And then maybe sometimes for a treat, she would put, like, Gatorade in there with a bunch of ice and have.
[00:08:01] Speaker C: Like, a little, like I say on behalf of all the listeners.
[00:08:10] Speaker D: She rinse it between these different beverages.
[00:08:14] Speaker A: She's not.
[00:08:15] Speaker B: The tea bag's still in there.
[00:08:17] Speaker A: No, no, that's not happening.
[00:08:19] Speaker C: Gatorade with a little tea.
[00:08:21] Speaker A: It's tap water tea, but it's not Gatorade.
[00:08:27] Speaker B: Wait, wait, Abby, I just have to know. Have you had an instance where you had a water bottle that molded on the mouth?
[00:08:34] Speaker C: Yes.
[00:08:36] Speaker D: No.
[00:08:36] Speaker B: No. Hear me out. And you still chose to drink from that water bottle, did you not?
[00:08:41] Speaker C: Yes, that's absolutely what she was intimating.
[00:08:43] Speaker B: Without cleaning it. Without cleaning it.
[00:08:45] Speaker D: You're muted. You're muted. Abby.
Abby, you're muted.
[00:08:50] Speaker C: And leave it that way. No, leave it that way. Don't tell her, Jack. Don't tell her. Oh, my gosh. Frog.
[00:08:57] Speaker D: Oh, no.
Not to be that fat girl, but Ro is extra. And she would have a Stanley cup and she would have a cute little. She would have, like, a little straw topper that, like, matches the flowers in her hair exactly.
And it would be, like, green and purple. And she would put, like.
I don't put stickers on mine, but she might put stickers on hers of, like, like, different venues that she's played or something or towns that she's visited. And I feel like she would either have, like, really fancy water in it, like glacier mountain water, like Evian or something, or Fiji water or.
And like maybe a little lemon and honey and like mint in it or she would have tea in it sometimes, but most of the time it would just be like really fancy water with some different flavoring. It's not like, not like flavorings like the powder and stuff you were talking about, but like, just like a little bit of lemon here, a little bit of mint here.
And she'd be like really protective over it, but she would also try to use it as a weapon sometimes and like hit someone with it as self defense.
[00:10:23] Speaker C: My DM NPC was Jath, right?
[00:10:25] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:10:27] Speaker C: Jath would have Koffas getting ice while popping popcorn. But that's okay.
It's okay, baby. We're just, we're just in the talking recording the story yet. It's thundering. There's new bugs making noises. Go for it, Hoffa. It's just a podcast and people are more important.
Thank you, baby. So for, for. I don't remember anything more. Jath.
Jath would have an off brand Walmart plastic water bottle, but not anything current. Not any of the current mock brands. For other water bottles where the mock brand's about as good as the thing. I'm Talking like early 2000s, those inexplicably rectangular ones with like a square screw on top. That didn't need to happen. And it's got, it's like a Nabric. And you're like, what's that brand? Never heard of it. And it cracks kind of easy. So he's got a couple of them and they're all like an off navy and you know, he's always places and there's like a little color to the water. So you're like, oh, what's that? And it's just water from the tap, but the coloration of the bottle makes it look like it's more interesting. And there's always like two or three ice cubes in there. And she's like, well, you know, a little thirsty. And Hoffa wants. Oh, Hoffa wants me to tell you that for one of her friends birthdays, her friend wanted to go to the Oklahoma property. I'm also going to be in Oklahoma tomorrow for very different reasons.
[00:12:05] Speaker A: Oh, cool.
[00:12:06] Speaker D: Oh, nice.
[00:12:07] Speaker C: One of her friends from the Brazilas, her husband has family who owns land in Oklahoma. And what her friend wanted for her birthday was to go shoot a bunch of guns.
That's what I'm doing tomorrow. Weird. Real strange. Weird that a bunch of Brazilian women needed to come into my life for that to happen.
I'm going to go have a strange Saturday That I have a lot of mixed emotions about. Hoffa wanted me to tell you have.
[00:12:35] Speaker D: A real Oklahomian time.
[00:12:37] Speaker C: Well, it feels very Texan, but yeah. So.
[00:12:40] Speaker D: Nah, I got family in Oklahoma. It's Oklahomian.
Okay.
[00:12:45] Speaker C: So anywho. Yeah, that's the answer.
On a different note, episode 133 of the Accidental Adventures. The note taking.
This is a level 12 adventure. That. It's 34. 88.
Oh, no.
Kalilan has passed now. No, no longer Kalilan.
I need to go back. Oh, my goodness. Does anybody remember what the month is? Jackie, we call upon your skills and abilities. Hope you don't let us down. Hope Zach doesn't find it before you do. Oh, I'm pulling up the image. That's right. It's Sihadrond.
Jackie has, and this is true, fallen short.
Sorry, that felt a little mean.
Sorry, Jackie. I meant as a joke. Ms. Jackie's part of the calendar. It's sihedron first. Well, Jackie, can you tell us what day of the week it is?
[00:13:42] Speaker A: Can you tell us how to spell sihedron?
[00:13:45] Speaker D: I can do both.
[00:13:47] Speaker C: Why doesn't Jackie and Jackie.
[00:13:49] Speaker D: Sihedron is S, I apostrophe H, D, R, O N D.
And it's the first. It is the first. And it is beckon. My favorite day of the week.
[00:14:07] Speaker C: It's kind of like Tuesday, right?
[00:14:09] Speaker D: Is it? It's like a Thursday. Yeah, I guess. Yeah.
[00:14:13] Speaker C: Yeah, my dudes.
[00:14:15] Speaker D: That's like a Friday, right? Oh, is it kind of like a Friday?
[00:14:20] Speaker A: Just like it is today.
[00:14:21] Speaker C: I don't know why talking about the calendar makes me excited about campaign two. So why did. Why Abby?
[00:14:29] Speaker D: So Abby's eating some really good looking bread.
[00:14:33] Speaker C: I'm sorry, I. I'm actually having a little trouble if I'm stuttering. I'm having trouble focusing with that bread on screen. Actually.
[00:14:42] Speaker A: Just got to the end and I thought I'd know. So.
[00:14:46] Speaker C: Well, I should start this song over. I don't have a session title because I have one and I might need to change it depending on what you guys do next. So I don't know the title. Current title. Could change, could fit. Or it could really be different.
Fun guys, actually. Excuse me. Greta, you're up. And no one else.
Liam. And Tiny Hut is around you with probably a couple more hours on. And you are surrounded by five figures clad in naturalistic clandestine armor, all wielding ranged weapons that are not cocked but all loaded. The figures are all staring at you in silence in the wee dim light of this dry forest morn.
[00:15:42] Speaker A: How close are they.
[00:15:46] Speaker C: None of them are exactly the same distance, but all of them are somewhere between 30 and 40ft.
[00:15:51] Speaker A: Okay, your percentage is high.
[00:15:54] Speaker C: They got. They. They came to you quietly in the night. Classes aren't real in this world. Well, classes are real, but not uniform. Also, can you hear a dryer thudding away in the background?
[00:16:07] Speaker D: Very little.
What do you mean classes aren't real? You mean, like.
[00:16:12] Speaker A: Well, like.
[00:16:13] Speaker C: No, no. Okay. What I mean to say.
[00:16:15] Speaker D: You mean, like, middle class?
[00:16:16] Speaker C: The conversation we've had before.
So what I mean to say is, we've had this conversation before. Like, clerics are an established social order and role, but barbarians aren't a thing. It's just warriors capable of producing great rage. So you guys. You wouldn't look at these guys and say rogues, but they certainly seem to resemble a skill set very similar to telos. And not just like, ooh, that's a tello. But like, oh, they're very sneaky. Oh, they're yielding ranged weapons. You get the feeling that these are individuals with similar skill sets. There are five of them around you. What you doing?
[00:16:54] Speaker A: I would like to wake up Ro quietly. I'm going to kind of, like, wake her up while keeping my eyes on as many people as I can.
[00:17:03] Speaker C: As you reach over and pat Ro awake, the fairy individual, whose crossbow is really small, pulls it back and cocks it and just rests it on the tree in front of them, pointed towards you all. And the human individual also just.
[00:17:21] Speaker A: Okay, I'm going to say Ro.
Ro, can you. There's. We're surrounded by shooters.
[00:17:32] Speaker D: Oh, I'm up.
[00:17:34] Speaker A: There's five.
You wake up the rest of the party, but tell them to just not act.
[00:17:41] Speaker C: Just.
[00:17:41] Speaker A: Just wake them up and tell them of the situation.
Are they in, like, shape, sir? Like, are they all kind of.
Damn.
Are they, like, can I stand in one spot?
[00:17:56] Speaker D: The dudes, Are they, like.
Or are they all the way around.
[00:18:00] Speaker C: Roughly equidistant around you?
[00:18:02] Speaker A: Oh, okay. Okay. So I'm gonna stand where I can.
They're surrounding us. Basically.
[00:18:14] Speaker D: I'll look over, like, once I kind of figure it out, I'll stand up and look the opposite way.
[00:18:20] Speaker A: Okay.
I'm going to, like, stand kind of in the middle and look at as many of them as I can. And I'm gonna take off. I'm gonna take out my symbol of Ioun, and she's gonna take it over her hair so that it, like, kind of floofs out behind her. And she's gonna, like, hold it up. She's, like, doing this very shallowly, but she's just like taking it off over her hair, kind of holding it up and. And then putting it back over her neck and situating it so that it's very visual on her chest.
[00:18:52] Speaker C: Every individual around you is a different flavor of steely.
These people look heartless and unflappable.
But you do register a little bit of like, there's no one goes a goth. But plenty of people, like all the eyes you see do flit to the symbol on your chest and seem to recognize it before looking back back up to you. You get the feeling like certainly it meant something.
Each of you is woken up one by one. Craig, you are awoken. Boss gets up a little nervous.
[00:19:29] Speaker B: Shoot.
[00:19:29] Speaker C: Hello as well.
[00:19:30] Speaker B: I don't have armor.
[00:19:30] Speaker D: How far away did you say they were?
[00:19:33] Speaker C: 30. Between 30 and 40ft. All of them.
[00:19:36] Speaker D: Okay.
[00:19:38] Speaker C: Tello gets up and looks a little nervous, but he's like, like, no, excuse me. There's 10 seconds of Tello having no idea what's going on and then registering and looking a little nervous.
Greta, very quietly, you hear him just sort of whisper under his breath.
[00:20:00] Speaker A: What did he say?
[00:20:01] Speaker C: You understand in insignian that he says.
[00:20:06] Speaker A: She. She nods.
Greta is going to cast thaumaturgy.
Well, actually, before I do, the language of the spell says your voice booms up to three times as loud as normal. Control that. I don't want it to boom. I just want my voice to be loud.
[00:20:34] Speaker C: I would say you could not at such high levels. I'm often comfortable with you guys creating manipulations for. I like that being. We've done that before. I like that being a standard level in our campaign that as you guys become some of the world's most capable casters, you gain the ability to get kind of flexible with lower level spells because you're. You've gained so much mastery over them, especially your can trips.
[00:20:56] Speaker A: Okay. Okay.
So.
Well, first she's gonna cast light.
[00:21:03] Speaker C: A very evenly distributed, even tone. Sorry, please continue.
[00:21:06] Speaker A: First she's gonna cast light and she's just. She's gonna with her finger, draw the symbol of Ioun in front of her. And if she can, she's gonna kind of like make the light linger a little bit.
So there's like a. For just an instant or just like.
[00:21:24] Speaker C: For a very brief light behind light sources in photography just kind of appears. Symptoms.
[00:21:29] Speaker A: Yeah.
And then she's going to use thaumaturgy to make her voice louder. But she's going to focus on the magic and try to keep it like even and gentle and like, confident.
And she's going to say, we come in peace.
Forgive us if we encroached.
We are simply looking for passage to the temple.
I am a cleric of Ioun, and I am making a pilgrimage of sorts.
She doesn't say. She just ends it. The spell.
[00:22:15] Speaker C: They just look back to each other in quiet.
One of them speaks to another, the elvenfellow, to the dragonborn. They exchange a phrase, and then three of the five look to the Yuan Ti anathema after it. And the elvenfellow says to the dragonborn, and you do not recognize the language spoken.
The dragonbord kind of, like, blinks in response, and then both shift their eyes to the anathema, who sort of, like, catches their gaze and then looks back to you. The pixie individual and the human never look away. Excuse me. There was no human. When I say the human, I'm thinking of the elf. The pixie and the hobgoblin never look away. And the Yuan Tianathemon slithers a little bit closer.
Do you all know what a gaboon viper is?
[00:23:16] Speaker A: I will Google it right now.
[00:23:17] Speaker D: Yeah, I'll Google it.
[00:23:19] Speaker C: Whoever wants to find an image, first copy it and then put it in. Lord Reference Listener, feel free to. Beautiful viper.
That's what this person. That's what their features are patterned after. Their head is flattened and broadened, their face pulled in an upturned kind of horde motion. They have a skin pattern that reflects that kind of, like, marshmallow color scheme with those dull tan. And that's an excellent reference image. Thank you.
And those sort of, like, warm browns. Their eyes are that, like, thin, pale color with the black slit in between. And they're, like, stubbier and thicker, but low. And they have that sort of lined chevron pattern to their scaled skin. And as they slither a little closer, you can see that the bolts loaded into their crossbow is just dripping very slightly. And.
[00:24:10] Speaker D: Oh, no.
[00:24:13] Speaker C: That individual gets a little. Greta, why don't you give me a persuasion check?
Okay.
[00:24:31] Speaker D: Couldn't tell if that was except good or bad.
[00:24:34] Speaker A: That was good. That's going to be a. It was a 19, so it's going to be a 23.
[00:24:42] Speaker C: There's a good time for that roll.
The anathema slithers closer. It's this very coiled motion, very slow. They've got this, like. It's like a very sassy walk because of how much the undulation of their serpentine lower half moves their shoulders back and forth. But the. The disconcerting part is that their Head. Like, their head is locked in position, so their shoulders and hips move greatly, but their head never really moves. And their eyes are so fixated on you and all the other individuals you get.
You all can notice that that individual is fixed on you.
And no, none of you recognize it at the same time. Those with higher strategy modifiers recognize it first. But you notice that each Sandorian here is locked onto a different one of you. And.
[00:25:29] Speaker B: Oh, no.
[00:25:30] Speaker C: Slithers about 15ft away from the dome.
She raises her voice slightly and says, and why should we trust you?
[00:25:53] Speaker A: Greta steps forward towards the edge of the dome. Not, she doesn't cross the dome, but she steps.
[00:26:01] Speaker C: You're like. There's. You're just, like, inches away from the pale barrier.
That's a cool visual.
[00:26:13] Speaker A: She inclines her head a little bit and she says, I understand that we've given you nothing to trust yet, but I would.
It's my aim to build a passable, a.
Sufficient. It's my aim to build.
[00:26:48] Speaker C: And you come very armored.
[00:26:53] Speaker A: Well, we're a group of. We're a traveling group of adventurers. And. And we came from. We came straight from our travels.
And Greta, as she's speaking, she steps back, takes out her mace and her daggers, any. Any other weapons that she has, and she, like, puts them on the floor behind her and then steps back to the barrier.
[00:27:32] Speaker C: Guards the motion.
Each. Each fun guy has yet to grab a weapon. But you all have trouble betraying the natural expertise that accompany your bodies at this time, the way that you all, like, your hands are all resting near them. And not that anyone's. I'm not saying, like, did a bad job, but just, like, there is a tension between the image you're trying to portray and the people and skills you are and have. And in fact, I don't think I. Jackie, would even disagree that Ro has subconsciously put a hand on a loot.
[00:28:05] Speaker D: But I literally was even gonna say Rose starts before all that I was gonna say, Rose starts to reach for her loot.
[00:28:14] Speaker C: We know each other pretty well at this point.
Anathema woman continues to regard you coolly. And she pulls a little closer to the barrier now, like 10ft away. And she says, we speak in coin and we speak in information.
Why don't you speak our language? Tell us who you are, why you're here.
[00:28:38] Speaker D: Would it.
Would it help if I. If I took the barrier down?
Would that provide more trust?
[00:28:48] Speaker C: Pause. Just goes, no, don't. And she responds, that's a start.
[00:28:56] Speaker A: Greta, can Greta interrupt?
[00:28:59] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:29:00] Speaker C: Remember, you guys can do whatever you want at any point in Roleplay. Do it. Do it.
[00:29:04] Speaker A: Greta interrupts and says.
She addresses the lady and she says, may I approach safely? Meaning, like Greta's offering to step out of the barrier.
[00:29:15] Speaker D: May I approach the bench?
[00:29:17] Speaker C: They can't interpret your mind. Just use your words.
[00:29:20] Speaker A: Okay?
[00:29:20] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:29:21] Speaker A: She says, may I approach safely? And gestures to the ground in front of the barrier.
[00:29:26] Speaker C: The woman nods, cocking her head.
[00:29:29] Speaker A: Okay. Greta, as confidently as she can, steps out of the barrier, leaving her weapons.
[00:29:37] Speaker C: I'm gonna say it's not unconfidently'cause you've seen some pretty insane stuff at this point in your life. You escaped a Kraken yesterday before meeting some archfey.
[00:29:47] Speaker A: Yesterday.
[00:29:48] Speaker C: Yesterday.
It's been a while since we had a forever day, but we finally had one again in the campaign.
You step out of the barrier and at this height, she's much taller at this distance. And she raises about another foot higher, a feature in the ult anathema race.
And she just kind of looks down on you. And as she's talking to you, the tongue very briefly, like, flicks out and her jaw flexes. And you watch this really like, she like flexes. She does a thing that real vipers can do, which is where she like yawns slightly. And as she does this part of her skull dislodges slightly and raises unevenly to lift this like 2 inch Fang and set it back down in her mouth. Just like, kind of like a. Like the way that we would like twitch a much longer. Her face, half of her head just lifts and lowers, flexing the fang. And she says, who are you?
[00:30:44] Speaker A: Greta says, I'm what?
[00:30:47] Speaker C: Nothing. I just realized I'm losing my voice a little. It was lower and flat.
[00:30:51] Speaker A: Greta says, I'm Greta puts her hand on your chest. I'm Greta Small Star. And she gestures back to the group. We are the fun guys.
We met, we come from. We began. Our journey. Began in Port Resplendisan.
We killed the Kefkan General Dhulkoff.
I am on a mission.
I'm on a pilgrimage to the temple.
Ioun is a new patron of mine.
[00:31:36] Speaker C: Mort speech gets all sorts of looks exchanged back and forth. And when you say fun guys, two different weapons move in your direction.
Well, in the bubble, you watch a bunch of different things. Things. Nothing's pointed, but it's like someone with a gun at their hip just changes so that the barrel is pointed like in the direction of your feet so that if it were raised, it's like at you. And as you See this woman closer? She has a crossbow in her left hand, but she also has like two blades at her side and two hilts poking up over her shoulders and two on the breasts of her armor. And these individuals are festooned.
You can also see a couple vile quirks poking out of places. Everything here looks like it's poisoned.
And you finally get some emotion out of her eyes with those looks. And every part of what you said gets something from her. Very slight reactions, micro reactions, but some nonetheless.
And why don't you give me a persuasion check, Greta?
[00:32:44] Speaker A: Okay.
That's going to be a 21.
[00:32:50] Speaker C: 21 girl shows up to Sandor and just rolls hot.
She still regards you coolly, but the slightest little. Like for a second you think she's going to do another freaky face thing. But it's just a slight smile on one side before separating the pits in her jaw. And she looks back to you and she says, that information would have found you on the other side of a bolt a very short time ago.
[00:33:22] Speaker A: But Greta. Greta makes that face. She like, yeah, I don't want to react to what she's saying.
[00:33:29] Speaker C: Our contract with the Crown has passed. So as of recently, seems we're a bit more allied.
[00:33:39] Speaker A: Krita nods and she says, I'm glad we're not at odds. I hope to find ourselves in your favor.
[00:33:54] Speaker C: So you have no ill intent toward our company?
[00:33:59] Speaker A: Not at all, no.
[00:34:01] Speaker D: Yeah. Ro shakes her head no as well.
[00:34:03] Speaker A: Well.
[00:34:06] Speaker C: She reaches.
[00:34:07] Speaker A: I have.
[00:34:08] Speaker C: Oh, excuse me.
[00:34:09] Speaker A: I have the highest respect for your company.
And other than other than that, you do not cross my mind.
[00:34:19] Speaker C: She like, oh, well said. She places the crossbow, still loaded on her hip and then reaches her hand. Her left left hand out. It's scaled and they're like. Her fingers come to sharp points. She reaches out to shake it.
[00:34:36] Speaker A: B. Can I do a super quick rumors or history check to see if there's any significance to the left hand instead of the right hand?
Like.
[00:34:54] Speaker C: Your background's not criminal, right?
[00:34:57] Speaker A: No, it's not. I'm a hermit.
[00:34:59] Speaker C: No, no.
[00:35:01] Speaker D: I'm a hermit.
[00:35:03] Speaker A: Okay. She's gonna also reach out with her left hand to match. That's how that works.
[00:35:08] Speaker C: She clasps your hand at your wrist and gives it one single shake and she says, kiss.
Good to meet you.
[00:35:18] Speaker A: Good to meet you, Cass.
[00:35:20] Speaker B: Chasing a kiss to like kiss.
[00:35:27] Speaker C: She's like all fans.
[00:35:34] Speaker D: Terrifying.
[00:35:35] Speaker C: S K E S S.
[00:35:42] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:35:43] Speaker D: Would it be okay if I grabbed my loot to remove the dome?
[00:35:51] Speaker C: She just nods again, expression on her face. She turns back to her company and she says, the Dulgath killers.
And with that phrase, for some reason, they all seem to understand. Like, all the weapons are lowered, reholstered. A couple people unload them. Someone puts the bow across their back.
[00:36:15] Speaker A: Okay, bro.
[00:36:17] Speaker D: Picks up the loot and makes the dome go down.
[00:36:21] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:36:22] Speaker D: And puts her other loot on her back.
[00:36:25] Speaker C: Fades.
And there's just a real awkward, like, two or no. Well, 10 minutes altogether because people have to put armor on.
For Craig, that's a 10 minute process. For Greta and Ro, that's like a three minute process. For Tello, it's like a six minute process. People have to, like, roll up bed rolls. And this group of people around you are no longer aiming weapons, but they never quit standing there staring. So it's just weird.
[00:37:00] Speaker A: Okay, so Greta very quickly packs her bags and puts her armor on. And she tries to do it, like. Yeah. She does it, like, casually and like it's a normal morning.
And then she approaches Tess and asks.
Well, she says, oh, I don't.
She says, could you point us in the direction of the temple?
[00:37:34] Speaker C: Uh.
She gets another kind of wry look, and she goes, well, give me a moment to go have a conversation, then we'll figure out a next step.
[00:37:50] Speaker A: Greta nods and returns to her group.
[00:37:54] Speaker D: You said there were or. Go ahead. I think you may be asking the same thing I was asking.
[00:38:00] Speaker B: I'm definitely not. I'm definitely not. You should probably go.
[00:38:03] Speaker C: Like I said.
[00:38:04] Speaker D: Bet I was just gonna say which one was, like, watching, like, row and, like, was there certain. What, like, even when we were putting on armor, where was the one that was on me still?
[00:38:16] Speaker C: Like, the hobbit goblin was watching you.
[00:38:21] Speaker D: After. After I, like, packed up and all, I would, like, go up to him and, like, try to shake their hand.
[00:38:29] Speaker B: We did have the same question.
[00:38:31] Speaker D: We did.
[00:38:32] Speaker C: I figured that equation check followed by an odds or evens.
[00:38:37] Speaker D: Okay.
[00:38:38] Speaker B: Zach, who's closest to Craig, without question.
[00:38:42] Speaker C: And no doubt, it was the pixie watching you.
[00:38:45] Speaker D: Heck yeah.
[00:38:48] Speaker B: Yeah.
He looks up and he goes, hey, I'm. I'm Craig. As he's, like, rolling up his bed.
[00:38:58] Speaker C: We'll go back to that.
[00:38:59] Speaker D: And he's like, okay, heard, heard, heard, heard, heard.
[00:39:04] Speaker C: What you get?
[00:39:05] Speaker D: That's a. That's a 14 for persuasion.
[00:39:08] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:39:09] Speaker D: And I'm gonna say odds.
[00:39:15] Speaker C: Okay.
So you reach out the hand to shake and say, ro.
The very tall hobgoblin woman does not return the favor to shake. But she goes, good to know.
[00:39:36] Speaker D: Ro.
[00:39:37] Speaker A: Ro.
[00:39:38] Speaker D: Just. Sorry, I have to gather myself. Rodan burst out laughing.
Ro pulls back her hand and just nods and just nods and goes, I'm Ro. And she turns around like, okay.
[00:39:58] Speaker C: And then, Craig, could you give me a persuasion check?
[00:40:02] Speaker B: Absolutely, bro dog. Don't you even worry. I got you.
[00:40:06] Speaker C: I really like when you. You sound real hammered when you do it. It's fine.
[00:40:13] Speaker B: I will never have to know because I already. You know what I. What I'm like at that point, because I. I already do.
[00:40:18] Speaker C: I know multiple people in my life where I'm like, you don't need to drink. All you have to do is stay up past nine.
[00:40:22] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:40:25] Speaker B: So that's a really. Can I cast guidance on myself?
[00:40:29] Speaker C: Is that possible? Yes, you can.
[00:40:31] Speaker B: Oh, shoot. No, I cannot. Because that is a visual thing.
[00:40:34] Speaker C: One point of metagaming. You take a point of.
[00:40:38] Speaker B: No, no, I should know that. I just keep forgetting.
[00:40:42] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:40:42] Speaker B: Craig would know that took me six months. Remember that there's a visual.
Okay, sorry. I'm gonna do a cute little. I'm gonna do a cute little 11 is what I'll do.
[00:40:55] Speaker C: The DC for you was lower for reasons you're not aware of. So you say, like, hey, how are you? And she just smiles a little. Holsters. The crossbow is huge in her hands, and it's like a small crossbow.
[00:41:09] Speaker B: Wait, wait, wait, wait. Can I. Wait, hold on.
[00:41:11] Speaker C: Yeah, hold on. Yeah, no, you totally can. You totally can't.
[00:41:13] Speaker B: Oh, my gosh.
[00:41:14] Speaker C: Oh, my gosh. Oh, gosh.
[00:41:14] Speaker B: Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh. Yeah, I'm gonna look at the crossbow, and I'm gonna ask her, like, a question about, like.
[00:41:22] Speaker C: Yeah, you can just use.
[00:41:23] Speaker B: Is that your favorite?
[00:41:24] Speaker C: You don't have to give me.
[00:41:24] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm gonna be like. Like, as someone who deals with weapons, is that your favorite weapon or, like.
Like, one of your favorites? I don't know. Like, is it special eyes?
[00:41:35] Speaker C: A little. And she goes.
I mean, it's done the most killing, so it makes me a fan.
[00:41:45] Speaker B: That's cool. That's cool. My favorite. My favorite. One of mine is one that's a sword. It glows.
So.
[00:41:52] Speaker D: Yeah, close.
[00:41:55] Speaker B: Yeah, it does. It glows.
[00:41:57] Speaker C: Show me.
[00:41:59] Speaker B: Is that okay? Like, will your friends kill me?
[00:42:03] Speaker C: Don't kill him.
[00:42:05] Speaker B: Okay, cool. Okay, cool. And then he gets Star Splinter out.
[00:42:11] Speaker C: And all of them just like. Like. Like you. They open some mouths, the steel expressions break a little bit. And she just goes, okay, that's pretty cool.
[00:42:21] Speaker B: This isn't what killed Dolgoth, so.
[00:42:24] Speaker C: Oh, they exchanged some glances.
What killed Dolgoth?
[00:42:29] Speaker B: Oh, she's not here.
[00:42:34] Speaker C: That's a bummer to that story.
What was the thing that happened before all the weird introductions?
[00:42:43] Speaker A: Kess. We were getting ready, and Kes was.
[00:42:46] Speaker C: Gonna talk to us.
[00:42:47] Speaker A: Oh, she's gonna go.
[00:42:48] Speaker C: So you all get slithers away, and very serpent. She turns away from you, pulls something out of a pocket, reaches it up toward her head and whispers some away for a little bit.
[00:42:58] Speaker A: Cool.
[00:42:59] Speaker C: Pause and return a phrase.
You can hear her whispering a little more.
[00:43:08] Speaker D: And wait, she turned away.
[00:43:12] Speaker C: Not to where you can't see her, just, like, half away.
[00:43:16] Speaker D: Because can't Greta's new feet mean where she can read lips?
[00:43:21] Speaker C: But that's true. Oh, Abby, it's gonna hurt you. Specifically this, as you read the lips. That's definitely in that language you don't speak. Again.
[00:43:30] Speaker D: Ah, bummer.
[00:43:31] Speaker C: And that's why I wasn't bringing it up, because I didn't.
[00:43:34] Speaker D: I'm sorry.
[00:43:35] Speaker C: Bring out the opportunity. No, no, Jackie, wait. Yeah. Way to play in the future. I just. I knew it was totally a part of her new feet, but I also knew she was going to be speaking.
[00:43:42] Speaker D: I was just like, this could be her moment.
[00:43:46] Speaker C: A language you don't recognize.
[00:43:48] Speaker D: Yeah, none of us recognize it.
[00:43:53] Speaker B: No, I totally recognize it.
[00:43:55] Speaker C: None of you all are from this hemisphere.
[00:43:57] Speaker D: That's true.
[00:43:59] Speaker C: So you're. Every single person here is from the East.
So you're so New York.
[00:44:07] Speaker D: We're so la.
[00:44:11] Speaker A: Actually, I think it's the opposite.
[00:44:12] Speaker D: I think it hurt Zach to hear me say that.
[00:44:16] Speaker A: Hilarious.
[00:44:20] Speaker C: That that call goes on for a moment. So we're just gonna sit with floundering Craig for a second more. And the fairy woman just says, I like your armor.
[00:44:34] Speaker B: Thanks.
I like. I like your. Is it a crossbow?
[00:44:39] Speaker C: Long. Looks like it'd be worth a fortune if I peeled it off you.
[00:44:43] Speaker B: Oh, I don't think it peels well. I don't think it's made to do that.
[00:44:48] Speaker C: Persuasion, check. Craig. Persuasion, check. Persuasion, check. Persuasion, check.
[00:44:52] Speaker A: I don't think it peels well. That's incredible, dude.
[00:44:57] Speaker D: Amazing, dude.
[00:44:58] Speaker B: Wait, do I have inspiration? Did Landon use that? I don't know.
[00:45:01] Speaker C: You have inspiration?
[00:45:02] Speaker B: I do on my sheet, but I don't know if he used that.
[00:45:05] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:45:06] Speaker D: I don't think he ever used your inspiration.
[00:45:08] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:45:09] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:45:11] Speaker C: I love the thing.
[00:45:12] Speaker B: Okay, good, good, Good, good. It's 19.
[00:45:15] Speaker C: Okay.
You say that. I don't think it peels well. And she goes, okay, that was good. And the. The Green Dragon born guy just goes. Rolls his eyes, slithers back over, and she says, all right, I have my orders. I'm not going to tell you where the temple is. I'm going to take you there.
[00:45:47] Speaker A: Thank you.
[00:45:50] Speaker B: Little kind of squeals quietly.
[00:45:55] Speaker C: She says, assuming that it's worth something to you.
[00:46:04] Speaker A: It is worth something.
[00:46:08] Speaker C: She raises her brows a little, just kind of gives you a face.
[00:46:18] Speaker D: What. What were you all thinking? Ro.
Ro speaks up from behind.
[00:46:26] Speaker C: The.
The dragon bore fellow speaks up now and says, what were you thinking?
[00:46:35] Speaker B: We start walking also.
[00:46:38] Speaker D: I just.
[00:46:39] Speaker C: Dang it, Micah.
[00:46:41] Speaker D: I just want to make it. I just to like play up the visuals a little bit. I like to think for Ro to feel like, to look tougher or whatever. She put soul mender on her back and she's just kind of like stroking like the chords a little bit of. Of song splitter. Kind of like look at my wife.
[00:47:03] Speaker C: In every single time. Every single time. You just kind of like, like just kind of play at a chord, it makes that distorted sound which is again a sound an instrument at this point in history has never made. So everyone's just hearing like.
And that's like. It's impressing some people.
Every. They're all just standing still, staring at.
[00:47:28] Speaker A: You all, you know, Sorry, sorry.
[00:47:32] Speaker B: Communication is a vital skill.
[00:47:35] Speaker D: I'm.
[00:47:36] Speaker A: Red is going to look at Tello and in uncinian she's going to say loud enough so that other people can hear kind of. She's going to like turn to him and kind of like keep her face to Kes and she's going to say, what should we give these people? And continue.
[00:47:57] Speaker C: That's smart.
[00:47:58] Speaker D: Tello is even.
[00:48:05] Speaker C: Tell opens his mouth to speak into.
[00:48:10] Speaker D: The world.
[00:48:10] Speaker C: Traveling assassin replies.
A fair wage probably Tello. Tello looks at her and then looks at you and kind of has half shocked Pikachu face just like.
And then closes his mouth.
[00:48:29] Speaker A: Okay.
[00:48:30] Speaker D: How would.
There's five of you. How would four platinum a piece be.
[00:48:44] Speaker C: A bunch of faces exchanged.
Ro, why don't you give me a persuasion check?
4 platinum a piece. Okay.
[00:48:57] Speaker B: Oh, no.
[00:48:58] Speaker C: Somewhere out there. Somewhere out there in Maryland. Landon just got a stomach ulcer.
[00:49:09] Speaker B: When the accountant leaves just.
[00:49:11] Speaker D: I'm going to use my inspiration because that was.
[00:49:13] Speaker C: Well, except that the accountant was the. You know, I say that the accountant was the one who was just going around going, platinum, platinum, platinum, platinum, platinum to everyone for a long time. Then I started talking about how much those coinages were worth and he stopped.
[00:49:24] Speaker D: Is this. You said persuasion, correct?
16.
[00:49:33] Speaker C: Okay.
You rolled low, huh?
That's okay. It was pathetic. That offer a bunch of looks exchange and you watch as the elf guy loses his Cool For a second. And kind of raises his brow. Kes looks at him kind of sharply, and he. His expression deflates. And she says, that sounds doable.
And each one of them finally comes in closer, like, okay, yeah. Which for reference, remember, a platinum is about $3,000. So each person was just offered $12,000, essentially. So hands are raised out to eat. Are you paying each of them, bro?
[00:50:14] Speaker A: We'll say I. I pay for. And you're muted, Jackie.
[00:50:20] Speaker C: You are muted. This is the way.
[00:50:22] Speaker B: Is the way.
[00:50:24] Speaker D: Yeah, I.
I was saying a second ago, I was like, yeah, I know. I want to keep them on our good side. I. I have enough, more than enough to give each of them. Greta, Abby, if you.
Because that's 20 total, right? Yeah.
[00:50:38] Speaker A: I say you do 10, I do.
[00:50:40] Speaker D: 10, and you do 10.
[00:50:41] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:50:42] Speaker A: So I reach for my bag.
[00:50:43] Speaker C: Also, platinum is divvied out. What a call, Jackie. What a move. I mean, you know what? We could ridicule it, we could praise it. That's a convincing argument. Yeah. I mean, it works to stay, but it worked.
[00:50:56] Speaker D: I think Rose motive here was just. She. She didn't want too little, and she was like, these guys need to know that we are somebody. And so if I offer them for platinum, like it's nothing to us, then that kind of is like a power move in itself almost. That's what Rose.
[00:51:15] Speaker A: That's why I wanted us both.
We both have.
[00:51:19] Speaker C: If you hadn't let on first that you were some of the most renowned adventurers in the world, this time who killed the Kefkan general, being like, well, I'll just divvy out for platinum, probably would have been signing a death warrant, but you all distribute the coins and all the blades of Sandoria, look real happy. And Kess just says, right this way, my lady.
[00:51:45] Speaker B: I think we were just reverse robbed.
[00:51:49] Speaker C: Craig. Say that.
[00:51:49] Speaker D: Robbed.
[00:51:52] Speaker B: I'm gonna, like, whisper it. Like, quietly whisper it to Tello as we're walking off.
[00:51:57] Speaker C: Whispers that a little loud. And two of the Sandorian members just kind of make a face at each other and crack up.
And you all have this sand, this blade of Sandoria escort. As you all are just hiking through the rainforest now. They're walking a little among you guys, but still very much on the outside of you never really getting in between. Between you all. And they're just walking with you. You guys are moving through the forest.
They appear to be taking you ro. You would. Are you the one who. Yeah, you are. They appear to be taking you in a south eastern direction. And you all appear to be walking up in elevation. As you all trek moving upward, there are a couple brief breaks in the canopy. And through them you all can see that now you have, you have like, there's like a, like a break in the parting of the canopy at some point. And you all can see that I'm going to go with this one. Yeah, you all can see that from where the canopy breaks out. It's actually kind of overlooking a cliff. And you guys have like a mile of elevation up from ocean water that's like 3/4 mile out. This is a big island and you're probably not on the shortest side. This thing could go on for miles. This is, this is a big land mass. Who knows how big it might be? And they're just trekking with you. There's some meaningful roleplay to be had here. But before we get to that, Craig, as you're walking the Pixie assassin with you in her sleek armor, she's kind of buzzing along and going, so you really killed Torkoth?
[00:53:47] Speaker B: I mean, we all did. You know what? Yeah.
[00:53:53] Speaker C: Oh, your whole group.
[00:53:54] Speaker B: Okay, yeah.
[00:53:56] Speaker C: What was that? Like.
[00:54:00] Speaker B: Really terrifying. But then at the same time, like absolutely empowering. Like, can you imagine that all of the hatred that you have in your soul just like is pointed in one direction and it actually changes the world?
[00:54:19] Speaker C: You get it? Yeah. The feeling you have when you take a life.
Good stuff.
Nothing like that. Blood. Oh my goodness.
I like it.
What's your name on here, guy?
[00:54:37] Speaker B: What is your name?
[00:54:39] Speaker C: Sinka.
Sinka.
[00:54:43] Speaker B: All right, Sinka, I'm gonna watch out for you.
[00:54:48] Speaker C: Yeah. Hey, I'll watch out for you.
So how long are you guys on the island?
[00:54:59] Speaker B: It kind of depends on where the wind takes us.
You know, we gotta, we got some friends, got some friends who aren't here right now, like on the island, and they, they're kind of like waiting on us.
So where? I don't really know where they are, but I do know we need to find them.
[00:55:20] Speaker C: They're here.
[00:55:22] Speaker B: Yeah. No, no, they're not here. But like they're so, like they're not on the island, so I know we need to leave the island to go find them.
So Craig is nervously and awkwardly trying to.
[00:55:35] Speaker C: Sure, yeah, you recognize your fumble. Two of the Blades of Sandoria, like kind of exchange a glance with each other, get a furrowed brow and they go back to listening to you.
Cinka continues. And she says, okay, that was weird. Fair enough.
Killed any other cool stuff?
[00:55:56] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:55:58] Speaker C: Like what?
[00:56:01] Speaker B: Like.
[00:56:05] Speaker C: Like don't think too hard.
[00:56:08] Speaker B: They have flowers in their hair and if you eat them, you die.
[00:56:14] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:56:16] Speaker B: Yeah, I'm really tired.
[00:56:20] Speaker C: Are you also headed to this temple?
[00:56:25] Speaker B: Are. Are we all like the people in the group walking towards us?
[00:56:28] Speaker C: No, but I mean, like, are you staying there or is that just her thing?
[00:56:34] Speaker B: I don't know. I kind of like following her around. I'll probably go inside with her. Her. Everyone else will too. I mean, it's kind of her thing, but, like, chilling. Well along for the ride. We enjoy it.
[00:56:45] Speaker C: If you get bored, I'm bored too. Different kinds of accomplishments out here.
And she just kind of follows by you a little bit.
You say that she looks over her shoulder and she goes, I don't care.
This lady kills people for a living. It's not a big moral comp us. She just flies by you.
To be clear right now, Craig, you are carrying four weapons.
You have star splinter.
You have star splinter on a hip, minister on the other one. Your. Your warhammer on your back. Did you leave that on the boat?
Up to you. It's your choice.
[00:57:30] Speaker B: I don't think I did.
[00:57:32] Speaker C: Okay, warhammer on your back. And now the gold plated, jewel studded axe, like opposite to minister.
You all are walking and Boz just keeps going.
And he's making the noises like, oh.
[00:57:53] Speaker B: No, he's gotta poop again.
[00:57:57] Speaker C: And Boz walks up to Greta and goes, hey, I'm not trying to ruin all this, but I have got like, like a Craig and Barry situation kind of going on. I think I got something.
[00:58:06] Speaker A: When we got here, Boz, these people love Greta. Whispered, boss, these people love information.
Maybe you can poop and then they'll want to dig through your poop to learn about your digestion.
[00:58:26] Speaker D: Ro has a mini heart attack at this Abby.
[00:58:41] Speaker C: Odds are evens.
[00:58:44] Speaker A: Evens.
[00:58:45] Speaker B: Oh, my gosh.
[00:58:48] Speaker C: 10.
Inspiration, I think. Oh, you already have that.
What?
I said inspiration. I think.
Yeah, inspiration.
If you'd gotten odd, if you. If you'd been wrong, I would have just given you a deduction to your next role. That was crazy what you just said. Boz just looks concerned and he goes. He just looks up and goes, hey, everybody, I. I have to relieve myself or it's gonna get really bad.
And all the Sandurians stop and just kind of make weird faces. And they go, okay. He goes, I'm just. I'm just gonna find a tree, okay? I'll be right back. Okay. All right. Don't go anywhere. He just walks off.
And.
[00:59:35] Speaker B: That'S weird. I've never seen him have to go to the basement or.
[00:59:39] Speaker A: I think.
[00:59:39] Speaker D: I thought you didn't do that. I've never seen him go to the bathroom before.
[00:59:45] Speaker C: And there's like a pause, and then from some distance away at one point, you can hear.
[00:59:52] Speaker B: I'm sure he's just empathizing with animals that are.
[00:59:57] Speaker C: That are dead. There's just this real awkward pause as you guys are stuck there for a little while, until, like, awkward glances. And then Greta, you hear.
Well, perhaps you have a moment to speak in your head.
Oh, sure. Good.
[01:00:19] Speaker A: Go ahead.
[01:00:20] Speaker C: Go ahead.
[01:00:21] Speaker A: No, you okay.
Is this Cass's voice?
[01:00:26] Speaker C: No.
[01:00:28] Speaker A: Do I recognize this voice?
[01:00:30] Speaker C: You do. It's definitely Belandra's voice.
[01:00:34] Speaker A: Are you serious?
[01:00:35] Speaker C: I am.
[01:00:37] Speaker D: This is pure disdain.
[01:00:41] Speaker A: Can I speak that word in my head or do I have to speak out loud?
[01:00:45] Speaker C: Well, if it's sending, you probably have to speak out loud.
[01:00:48] Speaker A: Oh, I'm going to try to talk back to it in my head.
Actually.
I'm just gonna not conceal the verbal in my head and see if she hears it.
[01:01:06] Speaker C: You're gonna what?
[01:01:07] Speaker A: I'm gonna like. I'm not gonna mask in my head. I'm gonna go and see if she responds.
[01:01:13] Speaker C: There's a pause. No response.
[01:01:16] Speaker A: Okay. And then I'm.
[01:01:18] Speaker C: No. Sending requires verbal component and another voice. And her voice comes again and goes, are you also incontinent?
[01:01:27] Speaker A: We're just going to take a deep breath. Then she's going to turn to Kes and she's going to say, excuse me, someone is sending to me. Is it all right if I step away, respond.
[01:01:40] Speaker C: Kess froze a brow and goes, you all have a lot going on.
Yes, especially boss.
Right. So we're in the business. In the distance, you guys hear this hurts, and Greta, you tread away. A distance.
[01:02:02] Speaker A: Yeah. I stay within. I tell I nautical, and I say, I'll stay within visual range. And she walks.
[01:02:10] Speaker C: She nods and says, you gave me four platinum to whatever you want further down the hill.
[01:02:19] Speaker A: Yeah. And I respond. I keeping my voice low but not whispering, I say, oh, hello. It's so good to hear from you.
[01:02:26] Speaker D: Hello.
[01:02:28] Speaker C: Oh, hello. It's so good to hear from you. If I remember correctly, I think I saved the life of a dear loved one at expense to my safety in cost for a deal recently. And I haven't heard information back on that in months.
[01:02:46] Speaker A: And we are forever grateful for your.
For your assistance on that.
[01:02:54] Speaker C: Warms my heart. You know what I would like more than your gratitude? The completion of my task.
Now, I had the courtesy to call you during waking hours, something not extended to me A few times. But why don't you tell me exactly how much closer you've gotten to doing my task?
[01:03:13] Speaker A: Yim. Can you clarify that we are supposed to deliver?
Can you remind me of our mission, which Greta would know.
[01:03:25] Speaker C: Greta would. Greta would. There are things sometimes that I want to be like. Well, you gotta have that written down. But Greta would know.
And your open contracts I put at the bottom of every single session in case you ask, because I know you are. That you may not remember.
[01:03:41] Speaker A: Thank you.
[01:03:42] Speaker C: I appreciate that you all accept requests from her to venture to the drowned keep deep below the waves, off of the northwestern coast of the Wildlands. More specifically, close to his sh.
[01:03:59] Speaker A: Okay.
[01:04:00] Speaker C: Judge is talking to a jury and something happens that defies the bounds of the case. And then they say, please strike that from your consideration.
That was in parentheses, in italics. And after that it says. But they haven't learned that yet.
So I wasn't supposed to say that part.
Okay, I'm now gonna highlight strike through that section so that I don't do that again.
[01:04:27] Speaker D: I don't remember what you said. I didn't even write it down.
[01:04:30] Speaker C: Good.
So off of the northwestern coast of the Wildlands. You were told.
[01:04:36] Speaker A: We'Re just supposed to go there.
[01:04:39] Speaker C: No, she told you that she wants you to go there. To the subterranean keep. Or, excuse me, the subaquatic keep off of the ocean to the layer of Salgin, the Fathom Wretch.
[01:04:53] Speaker A: Wait, wait, hold on. Fear of dal.
[01:04:57] Speaker C: These are notes you guys have taken a couple times before. Somewhere.
G H I I N.
Okay, so.
[01:05:06] Speaker A: Of Salgein, the Fathom Wretch. And I'm so sorry, can you tell me one more time where Greta knows.
[01:05:15] Speaker C: Off of the northwestern coast of the Wildlands. That's a fair question.
[01:05:18] Speaker A: Okay, off. Sorry, I'm just going to write this.
[01:05:21] Speaker C: Down, not to punish you with, but to help. It's okay.
[01:05:24] Speaker A: Yes. Thank you. I appreciate your post.
Wow.
[01:05:28] Speaker C: This entire campaign is not real. And you know the names of the arch phase, so I'm pretty thankful.
[01:05:35] Speaker A: Okay, cool.
[01:05:36] Speaker C: She wants to go there and retrieve something for her.
[01:05:39] Speaker A: And that's so we know that we're to go to the lair of Salgein the Fathom Wretch off of the northwestern coast of the Wildlands, to retrieve something.
And what am I supposed to retrieve? Do we know?
[01:05:53] Speaker C: She has yet to specify.
[01:05:55] Speaker A: We're just supposed to call her when we get there.
[01:05:58] Speaker C: Something like that, nearby, something.
[01:06:01] Speaker A: Okay.
[01:06:02] Speaker C: Okay.
[01:06:02] Speaker A: I'm gonna look at the yal. Just so that I can in my head. Know where we are so that I.
[01:06:11] Speaker C: Can also, if you want to talk above table as players for a second as you strategize this, I may okay with that or not.
[01:06:21] Speaker B: To Bella Andra. Does she give us a time frame to do that in?
No.
Sucks for her.
[01:06:30] Speaker D: When was the like, how long has it been in game that she had us do this? Because that's what throws time.
[01:06:39] Speaker C: I want to say it's been almost three months since we agreed to do this. A while. A while.
[01:06:50] Speaker A: Okay. Okay. I'm almost ready to continue my conversation with her.
[01:06:54] Speaker B: I. I would suggest being respectfully and professional, professionally apologetic while still maintaining healthy boundary.
[01:07:05] Speaker D: I would suggest healthy boundaries with Bell Andra for sure.
[01:07:09] Speaker B: Being like, I apologize for the delayed in act, delay in action.
Obstacles have gotten in our way. We do have a plan to track to. Yes, there it is not off of our radar. We will get it done.
We are contract.
[01:07:26] Speaker D: Yeah, I was gonna say, you could even say, like, it is on our way, but that might be a little too much of a lie. I don't know.
[01:07:36] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm gonna say.
Can you remind me of the last thing you said?
[01:07:41] Speaker D: I'm sorry, the last thing who said?
[01:07:44] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, I'm trying to remind me of the last thing she said. Something along the lines of. I want an update on where you are with that thing I asked you about months ago.
[01:07:55] Speaker A: Okay. Greta's gonna say, oh, of course. We are currently. We're. We're in the west. It. We spent longer than expected in Zedge, and we are. Our ship is currently, currently sailing in the western seas.
We will.
[01:08:23] Speaker C: I am glad to hear that in the course of almost three months, you've managed to get on the right side of the world.
The funny thing is, you asked me to do something and I did it the same day.
You know, interestingly, as I've said before, I work with many individuals and I'm rather well connected. I keep my ears to the ground, as I've mentioned. And of course, the great majority of my business is highly reputable. Pretty into the seedy side. But those individuals find their way into my employ.
You all have really made a name for yourselves. I mean, we've talked about what killing Dolgoth has done, to my contrary, continued business relationship with you.
But I heard the strangest thing recently.
I mean, it was offhand and perchance and tightly sealed, but somehow I managed to hear that you all made an agreement to go after a different Kevin General.
[01:09:31] Speaker D: No.
[01:09:39] Speaker C: Greta.
[01:09:45] Speaker A: Oh, I, I. Who. Where did you hear that from?
[01:09:50] Speaker C: I see why Boz keeps the stone. Well, I heard that from an undisclosed.
I guess what I'm trying to get at, Krit is I have loved your global gallivanting and continued drawing of heat and lowering of life expectancy. I'd like my favor completed before you expire.
[01:10:21] Speaker A: I can assure you that I will speak with my comrades and consider the. The bump of your task.
[01:10:30] Speaker C: Goodness.
[01:10:31] Speaker A: Of course.
[01:10:32] Speaker C: Gracious. Wow. Glad that I'm employing you all, please, sooner rather than later. Of course I love the carrot, but there exists also the st.
And you feel the connections ever.
[01:10:55] Speaker A: Okay, Greta rolls her eyes and turns around back to the group.
[01:11:00] Speaker C: Rolls your eyes so hard your head hurts. Yeah.
Okay, you walk back. The fungi and the blades of Cindor are there.
[01:11:09] Speaker B: Can you block. I wonder if you can block ascending stone connection.
[01:11:13] Speaker C: Cass has a look on her face.
[01:11:16] Speaker A: She's. She has a look. Look. What's her look?
[01:11:18] Speaker C: Just like, huh, you suddenly took a call. That's it. Cuz, remember, in this world, taking a call is not a thing the vast majority of mortals ever do. Not something unexpected for a world famous adventuring party. But you know, she just curious luck.
[01:11:33] Speaker A: Okay, Greta's going to like, probably she probably. She's going to like, not hide the annoyance on her face and she's going to like, kind of like offhandedly casually saying, kes, like, I'm sure you've had your fair share of less than pleasant business partners.
[01:11:54] Speaker C: Kes just smiles slightly and says, certainly.
Well, whenever your druid friend is in the background, keep going.
[01:12:10] Speaker A: Of course.
[01:12:13] Speaker C: There'S another.
And then Boz walks back from the other direction and goes, just kidding, I can throw my voice. Are we ready to keep going?
[01:12:22] Speaker A: Yes.
[01:12:23] Speaker C: And he's just walking. It's just.
Oh, I thought Jackie was gonna say something. Okay. And the group treks four, four hours. There's a stop in the middle and then you guys put in another hour and then a stop and then another hour. And you guys have been spending this whole time working up a mountain ridge in elevation.
And yes, Krieg, can I say that.
[01:12:54] Speaker B: For majority of the time I've managed to therapy with the pixie.
[01:13:02] Speaker C: Well, we're digging into that. So in the course of all this walking, what is it that you say to the pixie? Craig?
[01:13:07] Speaker B: So it starts out just like chatting and like talking about like, like, hey.
[01:13:12] Speaker C: Like, well, go for it.
[01:13:13] Speaker B: Let's, you know, like, what's your role here? You know, like, how do you find yourself here? Like, what brought you here? And then I'm trying to summarize a four hour possible conversation more real fast.
[01:13:29] Speaker C: Kind of heavy.
[01:13:31] Speaker B: You feel. Do you feel the need for male validation in your life?
[01:13:40] Speaker D: It's like a very.
[01:13:41] Speaker B: No, it's. Hey, I want to say that the tone is not sarcastic. It's not jabby. It is very much so, like heartfelt.
[01:13:49] Speaker C: Micah, Micah, nobody knows anything about. There's your words and there's your delivery. That's the only thing that exists in this univers. You say what you say. Maybe you totally succeeded and she just looks at you and goes, male validation.
Don't flatter yourself, honey. A little male company. That's a different subject.
What else have you killed? Never really told me.
How'd you kill.
[01:14:19] Speaker B: What else have I killed?
Hopes, dreams.
[01:14:33] Speaker C: Oh, okay.
She flies somewhere else.
[01:14:40] Speaker B: Oh my gosh. There was this one guy. There's this one guy. He came up out of nowhere and his name was Big Mike. And he would like tried to fight me for my title, which I didn't have. And he turned into a big dinosaur looking or I don't know what that is. Turned into a giant.
[01:14:57] Speaker C: Craig says dinosaur. There's like. Like a. Like you know that like muffled like kind of like soft grinding BLEEP sound you get in shows like a sound. Craig goes. He turned into a big. And everyone in their ears at once just hears Big Mike. Like. And like everyone stops and looks around confused and keeps walking.
[01:15:18] Speaker B: Well, anyways, we kill bad guy and.
[01:15:23] Speaker C: How'D you kill him?
[01:15:29] Speaker B: Genuinely don't remember.
[01:15:31] Speaker C: Sorry, Micah, just quick refresher. And it's incredible that you brought that up cuz just as a reminder, the way that you fly flavored. Killing him should I remember?
Was shoving your sword into his mouth.
[01:15:44] Speaker B: Oh yeah.
[01:15:45] Speaker C: And then slicing through him, if I.
[01:15:47] Speaker A: Remember correctly, up or down.
[01:15:51] Speaker C: He exploded into.
What was it? 7Up Surprise. Mountain Dew exploded in Mountain Dew. So it was less gory. But you did insert your sword into his throat and then slice through him.
[01:16:07] Speaker D: She'll get a kick out of that.
[01:16:10] Speaker B: I. You know, I get the feeling don't spare a detail. You.
You kind of like get off with like the concept of killing things.
[01:16:25] Speaker C: Honey, have no idea.
[01:16:29] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:16:31] Speaker C: Jackie is enjoying this.
[01:16:37] Speaker D: In the voice.
[01:16:41] Speaker B: Well, I. I don't really want to continue. This has a weird. Something's weird about this conversation.
[01:16:49] Speaker C: I. I feel internationally. And you still haven't let your freak flag flow like you need some new company. It's okay. I've got time.
[01:17:02] Speaker B: I feel sexualized. Is this how most women feel? This isn't.
[01:17:07] Speaker C: You should.
[01:17:08] Speaker B: I don't like it gotta break a.
[01:17:09] Speaker C: Couple dragon eggs to make an omelette. Flies past.
[01:17:13] Speaker D: He's broken.
[01:17:19] Speaker C: Tello's nearby.
You guys know that very famous meme of that little, like, monkey Muppet character giving the side eye? He's like. He's like a little step ahead of you, gives the side eye real nervous and just goes, don't look at me.
[01:17:33] Speaker B: I have a wife.
[01:17:34] Speaker C: I have a wife. I have a wife's on you. That's where I need it. And he just keeps walking.
Okay?
And as Kes keeps going, she pulls out that stone, she lifts it up to her mouth, and she says in common, you hear her have an entire conversation with someone undisclosed on the other end, explaining who she is and that she's delivering the fun guys.
And it sounds like she's on the stone with. Also remember Micah.
Oh, okay. She's on the stone with. It would seem like members of the Temple, the Order.
And as you guys keep moving further and further up this ridge, finally, a tree line breaks on a side of. Of a mountain face. And you guys find that after all this hiking, you are on the spine of a mountain ridge, almost like. Like you're thousands of feet above sea level. And from this height, you can see spilling out onto multiple. Not every side, but you can see an angle of like. Like the south and the western faces of the aisle. Oh, forget a. This. This island is miles and miles across.
It's real big. Real big.
And you guys remember geographically, this is the largest of the islands in the Sandorian mountain chain or island chain. So like, kind of the largest of Hawaii's islands. Size, from the guesstimation of this side, just gorgeous. Gorgeous. Just verdant green rolling away into infinite detail before meeting brilliant indigo. And the sky and the ocean becoming the same shade at the furthest distance. And for plenty of you, this is the first time you've ever seen the sapphire desert, the western ocean of the world.
[01:19:24] Speaker D: Who's the closest blade person to me?
[01:19:30] Speaker C: The dragon born fellow. The green dragon born guy.
[01:19:34] Speaker D: I just kind of look to him and go, wow. It's a lovely view you guys got here.
[01:19:40] Speaker C: You really like it? I mainly do killing, but helps me.
[01:19:46] Speaker D: Get in touch with a different side that makes sense. Nature, you know, you got to become one with nature to, you know, not kill.
[01:19:55] Speaker B: Sorry, yeah, I'm not there.
[01:19:59] Speaker D: Here. Would you like one of these? They're poisonous.
And she gives them a flower.
Don't eat it. You could give it to someone else. Poisonous? I grow on myself.
[01:20:10] Speaker C: Thanks. Yeah.
From your head.
[01:20:14] Speaker D: Yeah.
And they're poisonous even to me.
Probably shouldn't have told you that.
His odds.
[01:20:28] Speaker C: He. He just looks at you and goes.
He like puts the flower. You're not single, are you?
This just keeps happening.
[01:20:39] Speaker B: Are these so lonely.
[01:20:44] Speaker D: This doesn't happen a lot.
[01:20:45] Speaker C: I ed.
[01:20:48] Speaker D: And she goes. She's like, yeah. And she sucks.
[01:20:52] Speaker B: No, no, no, no. Craig calls out, wait, wait. Can this Craig hear this?
[01:20:56] Speaker C: What's your passive perception, Greg?
[01:21:00] Speaker D: 11.
[01:21:03] Speaker C: Craig, you're just 20ft away. And the pixie woman goes, you know, you've got a real good strut in that armor.
Tell us just. You could see like switch sweat perspiring on his forehead. Oh, buddy. And Ro, do you just go, tello. Tello. And walk away?
[01:21:23] Speaker D: No, I go, oh, what's that Tello? And I start walking towards.
[01:21:27] Speaker C: Okay, the dragon, the green dragonborn guy. He has a smile and he goes, not again. And you guys just keep walking.
[01:21:35] Speaker B: Why didn't you pursue that?
[01:21:39] Speaker D: And because canonically, Ro likes to act like she's a big flirt, but then she never actually flirts. You guys have you messed up on this.
[01:21:49] Speaker C: I love that you have a 20 charisma character who just can't flirt. It's really.
[01:21:55] Speaker D: But she likes to act like she's such a flirt, but she's really not.
[01:22:00] Speaker C: The party continues onward. And Kes turns to you, Greta, and says, okay, this has been a valuable step in shoring up recent events of a sister relationship. So Blades of Sandoria have no quarrel with you at this time. Try to stay out of our neck of the woods. This mountain ridge down the path that way, and you see this really jagged cliff like descent drop. And she says, down at the base you'll find a river run, leads to a small freshwater lake. Temple will be nearby.
[01:22:35] Speaker A: Thank you.
[01:22:36] Speaker C: To tell you that. Yeah, no problem. Good to meet you, Greta.
[01:22:40] Speaker A: Good to meet you. Before Greta says, oh, dm. Can I do a check real fast? Can I do a. Can I do a.
On a scale of 1 to 10, how nasty is Dolgoth's hand at this point?
[01:23:01] Speaker D: Ooh.
[01:23:02] Speaker C: Oh, you haven't checked in a while.
[01:23:04] Speaker A: Okay.
[01:23:05] Speaker B: Ew.
[01:23:07] Speaker C: Yeah, you. You haven't checked in a while. You can certainly take this opportunity to check.
[01:23:11] Speaker A: Okay, I'm gonna. I'm gonna say, are you. Are you a collector by chance?
[01:23:22] Speaker C: Sure. Conversation with a fungi.
[01:23:27] Speaker A: Greta reaches into her bag, takes out the scrap of Dolgoth's cloak, and she hands it. She holds it up. And this is from the Kefkan general's cloak.
[01:23:44] Speaker C: Her scaled rock ridged Brow raises, and she goes, okay.
Just for free.
[01:23:55] Speaker A: I mean, do you have.
[01:24:02] Speaker C: A few things in this world for free? I'm just checking if this is one of those.
[01:24:08] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah.
Parting gift it over. And she points to one of the stars on base. She says, I've got plenty to remember him by.
[01:24:20] Speaker D: Oh, that was. That was badass.
[01:24:25] Speaker C: One. Take a plus one to whatever your next check is. That was.
You're on fire today, Abby. So she takes a little cloak spread in her hands, tucks it away into one of her many pouches. Okay, good night, Micah. Go. Bye. Bye.
Real quick. Before you go, Micah, just try. Try to open your eyes all the way. Let me see what it looks like.
Whoa, dude, that's bad. Okay, good night. Love you.
[01:24:52] Speaker A: Good night, Micah.
[01:24:53] Speaker C: Love you. Bye. Bye. Bye. Bye, Micah. Bye. Bye. M. Okay.
She looks genuinely impressed for a moment, puts it into one of her minutes. Festoon pouches.
It's good meeting you.
[01:25:08] Speaker A: Good to meet you.
[01:25:11] Speaker C: Hope I never kill you.
[01:25:13] Speaker A: Me too.
And then.
[01:25:17] Speaker C: Okay, each of you departs from one another row with your passive perception. 20. You can see that, like, as your group is walking away and the blades of sandor are turning back. The. The. The green dragon born. Guys just like, looking at the flowers off in the distance a little bit. He holds the flower up in the wind and lets it, like, drift away. He watches it fall, and he just nods and turns around and walks back with the group.
And then the sandor walk away strong.
[01:25:52] Speaker A: And he has.
And he's got, like, a strong cool, but doesn't object with the features in his face. Right. I feel like that's how I remember you describing this. This charming. This charming assassin bad boy who was interested in Ro. That's how I remember you describing this missed opportunity. I just wanted to clarify for my own memory. Really strong, but not in a grotesque and charming way.
[01:26:16] Speaker C: Is that grotesque was the adjective you picked?
[01:26:20] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:26:22] Speaker C: And so the party is there. Stop freezing your arms. Yeah, Heavy. And the blades of Sandor depart, and you guys look at a massive descent. And far in the distance below, you think you can see, like, just the slight color of, like, a lake poking out between trees. A small one far in the distance, maybe half mile away.
[01:26:49] Speaker D: Hey, Greta. I don't feel, unfortunately, that it would be a good idea for our ship to dock.
[01:27:00] Speaker A: I agree. We should tell them about that right now.
[01:27:03] Speaker D: Also, that by the mood that you were in after that stone call. Was it Bella?
[01:27:10] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:27:10] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:27:11] Speaker A: Definitely needs to call her back at some point, because I did not.
[01:27:17] Speaker C: Yeah, I don't want to deal with that either boss jogs up and goes, oh, sorry. I was pissing again.
You need me to make a call.
[01:27:27] Speaker A: On that phone call? He would have negotiated us getting something out of this. She's just mad. I don't know.
[01:27:34] Speaker C: I think I regularly would, but something's going wrong inside and I feel like I'm really off my game right now.
[01:27:39] Speaker A: For canonical reasons, definitely. You should call her back when you're feeling better.
[01:27:46] Speaker C: Yeah. Yeah. I kind of feel like if our life was broken up into, like, sessions, I feel like after next time, that's gonna be when I'll feel better. I can feel.
[01:27:56] Speaker D: Yeah, we'll remind you when you feel better. We'll remind you whenever you want to.
[01:28:00] Speaker C: Guys, like, metaphorically speaking, in the, like, journals of your mind. Write down to remind me about that.
[01:28:07] Speaker D: Yeah, definitely.
[01:28:08] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:28:09] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:28:13] Speaker C: Oh, stink bug Dang.
[01:28:14] Speaker A: It is not like.
And I don't like it.
[01:28:18] Speaker D: Yeah.
It's not the greatest.
[01:28:21] Speaker C: Lady was the worst.
[01:28:23] Speaker A: Yeah.
[01:28:27] Speaker D: Okay. Let's get you to the temple. Greta.
[01:28:30] Speaker C: What did she call to talk about?
[01:28:32] Speaker D: Yeah. Wait, what did she ask?
[01:28:35] Speaker A: Mad that we're taking so long on her quest. And she's also mad that we're becoming famous. Someone told her that we have other obligations.
[01:28:49] Speaker D: What's she here?
[01:28:52] Speaker A: She lowers her voice and, like, looks.
[01:28:56] Speaker C: Around the blades of the blades of Sandor well away now.
[01:28:59] Speaker A: I know. But everybody, this is like.
[01:29:02] Speaker C: I'm not telling you not to. I'm just giving you an important visual reference. That's all.
[01:29:08] Speaker A: I feel like if I say something, the grass is going to hear it and the grass is going to.
[01:29:12] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:29:13] Speaker A: You know what I mean?
[01:29:13] Speaker C: And I love that I've given you that sensation of paranoia. I was only giving you helpful visual reference that the blades of Sandori have given.
[01:29:20] Speaker A: Thank you. We are living on. We are walking on the earth of which the God of knowledge makes her highly secretive dwelling.
So.
[01:29:30] Speaker D: Yeah.
[01:29:31] Speaker A: Might not make sense to you, but I'm afraid.
[01:29:36] Speaker D: Okay.
[01:29:36] Speaker C: It might not make sense to you, but I'm afraid. That's okay.
[01:29:41] Speaker D: Man. We. We need to learn Celestial so that no one will know what we say.
[01:29:46] Speaker A: I really thought I. I was gonna give Kes the unsen book.
[01:29:50] Speaker C: So what did.
What was the thing we were obligated to.
[01:29:55] Speaker D: Oh, yeah. What'd she find out about us?
[01:30:00] Speaker A: She.
She. She's mad that we're making for ourselves because it reflects badly on her because the world revolves around her. So.
But I think. I think to me, it doesn't matter. And to Boz, it matters just the right amount. So he will def. He should definitely call her back. So I'm just trying to get the light be on my face in a.
[01:30:22] Speaker C: Normal way, you can admit, stink bugs so that it goes. Okay, are we getting down the mountain?
[01:30:32] Speaker A: We walk down the mountain.
[01:30:34] Speaker D: Can we walk? Is it too steep? Dm. Like, how steep is it? How steep are we talking?
[01:30:38] Speaker C: You guys just look down this immense drop of like almost a thousand feet. Oh, not a sheer drop, but, you know, rock climbing kind of drop.
[01:30:50] Speaker D: Okay. Would you guys like to fly?
[01:30:54] Speaker A: That sounds awesome.
[01:30:55] Speaker C: I mean, we could walk down, but maybe it'd be kind of cool, you know?
[01:30:59] Speaker D: What would you like to be, Tello?
[01:31:03] Speaker C: I don't know.
[01:31:05] Speaker D: I.
[01:31:05] Speaker C: Cool, I guess.
[01:31:07] Speaker D: Well, I mean, I love. I'm partial to bats, but.
[01:31:13] Speaker C: Maybe something bigger and cooler than a bat.
[01:31:15] Speaker D: You want something bigger? Do you want to be in. Do you want to be.
[01:31:18] Speaker C: Giant bat?
[01:31:20] Speaker D: Yeah, you can be a giant bat. Can you carry.
[01:31:23] Speaker C: Have you ever seen a giant bat?
[01:31:27] Speaker D: I thought I had turned into a giant bat before.
[01:31:32] Speaker A: I'll be right back.
[01:31:34] Speaker D: Okay, Tello, how do you feel about what one of the. The. The big eagles we turn into? You want to be one of those?
[01:31:47] Speaker C: If you want to turn me into one, then.
[01:31:48] Speaker D: Okay. If I do that, can you carry Craig down for me?
[01:31:52] Speaker C: Oh, you're thinking. I mean, I guess.
[01:31:55] Speaker D: Okay, thank you, but. Okay, you carry balls then. But he's having tummy problems, so enjoy that.
[01:32:03] Speaker C: It's okay.
[01:32:04] Speaker D: Enjoy. And as she says that, she plays a little and he can.
[01:32:10] Speaker C: And Tello just. There's this explosion of, like, green and purple, like. And as Tello transforms and turns into a giant, like, brown and green eagle, he, like, in his transformed position, he must have been raising his arms as you transformed him because the eagle just spreads its limbs upwards with the wings all epically, and he just goes.
Then he makes a confused face. You get the feeling that's not the sound he thought he was gonna make.
[01:32:39] Speaker A: He's just like, can I. Okay, can. Can I go? Tell, tell, tell. I wave my hand.
[01:32:46] Speaker C: He turns and looks at you.
[01:32:48] Speaker A: I point to the lake and I say the. Go to the lake.
[01:32:54] Speaker C: He gives you the sassiest look an eagle can give and. And then, like, lowers his head and neck down.
In French in insane.
[01:33:05] Speaker A: Yes, Greta, what's your acrylic kitty on his.
[01:33:14] Speaker C: What's your AC?
[01:33:16] Speaker A: My AC is 16.
[01:33:21] Speaker C: Great. I rolled a 16. A wing the size of a minivan just comes around and you're hit with feathers. You're okay, but you just get flattened on the rainforest Just like down and then he lowers his head back down again.
[01:33:41] Speaker A: But I'm. I lied.
[01:33:43] Speaker C: Cool.
[01:33:44] Speaker A: I turned a Rona.
[01:33:46] Speaker C: Okay.
[01:33:48] Speaker A: Can I be a bird?
[01:33:49] Speaker D: Do you want to be another eagle?
[01:33:52] Speaker A: Can I be an owl?
[01:33:57] Speaker D: Dm. Have I seen. I mean, like. And I haven't seen any big owls. Yeah, you can be an owl. I'll turn you into just a regular little owl. Yeah.
[01:34:15] Speaker B: Huh.
[01:34:16] Speaker A: Maybe the big ones.
[01:34:19] Speaker D: I don't know if I've seen the big one.
[01:34:21] Speaker C: Give me. Give me. Here's what we're gonna do. Here's what we're gonna do.
We're gonna do a D100 roll.
[01:34:27] Speaker D: Okay.
[01:34:27] Speaker C: On you having seen this creature in your fast travels, you've traveled a lot of places. The DC out of a hundred is gonna be your level.
Your. Well, what's your proficiency bonus.
[01:34:44] Speaker D: Plus before. Right. Is what our.
[01:34:46] Speaker C: It's gonna be your level plus four. So if you roll a 16 or lower, you've seen this creature.
[01:34:52] Speaker A: Okay.
[01:34:53] Speaker C: There's inspiration on it if you want. You don't have to.
[01:34:55] Speaker D: I don't have inspiration.
[01:34:57] Speaker C: Oh, that sucks.
[01:35:00] Speaker D: I got a 41.
[01:35:03] Speaker C: You have not seen a giant.
[01:35:04] Speaker D: I'm so sorry.
But can I turn her into a little owl?
[01:35:09] Speaker A: You know, the ones that ears, bro.
[01:35:12] Speaker C: You've. You've seen. You've seen a regular owl, okay.
[01:35:15] Speaker A: With a funky ear.
[01:35:18] Speaker D: Have I seen the one with the funky ears?
Okay, so basically the Garland High school owl.
[01:35:29] Speaker C: Yes. Garland's. Garland High school's mascot is a great horned out. Guys. You guys can't see it, but Maya's asleep over here next to me. And I'm just. I'm just snapping kitty little.
[01:35:38] Speaker D: Bye.
[01:35:38] Speaker C: Bye.
[01:35:41] Speaker D: Yeah, I. I turn.
I turn Greta into the great horn doll. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
[01:35:49] Speaker C: Greta. Hoot. Hoot. You're now.
And hold on. I'm gonna get a really cute picture of Maya. Giant looms over Greta. Kind of makes an eagle face.
[01:36:07] Speaker D: Wait, Tello or Boz?
[01:36:09] Speaker C: Tello. And then without a further word, he. He like leans down his head and Craig climbs on. And then he flies up and grabs Boz and then dives off the cliff.
[01:36:24] Speaker D: I'm gonna turn into my. My signature bat.
[01:36:28] Speaker C: Okay. And Rose out here dropping spell slots.
[01:36:31] Speaker D: Okay.
[01:36:32] Speaker C: High level caster with many flurries of magic and magical sounds with all these like. Like. Like concert spews of smoke and sparks and her color of magic. People are all transformed and begin guiding off the cliff and fighting.
[01:36:46] Speaker D: We're a cool group or.
[01:36:47] Speaker C: Yeah. That's a pretty awesome scene.
[01:36:49] Speaker D: An Allen and eagle, bro.
Odds.
[01:36:56] Speaker C: So as you all are flying through the air, you guys just hear pause go. Oh, no.
Like giant eagle tello just kind of breaks off the path a little bit so that what boss drops doesn't get near you. As you guys are just coasting over the forest like a thousand feet below, there's just little like, precipitations.
[01:37:23] Speaker A: So he's pooping through his pan. Oh, sorry.
[01:37:28] Speaker C: No, he's just lowering his pants a little to poop. He's just. As he's being carried through the sky by the talons, he's just like lifting his hips up a little.
I DM'd an entire world just so I could make my own potty humor. And then the party flies down toward this lake.
[01:37:51] Speaker D: Okay, can I say row? Like row like kind of like bear, like bat, roe, rat, whatever.
[01:38:00] Speaker C: Wow, that was good.
[01:38:01] Speaker D: She. She like does like a barrel roll and like, like flies right along the the water and just like.
And then at the end of the lake, she transforms back.
[01:38:13] Speaker C: That's sick.
This isn't the song I want either. There. Let's go with this one. Yes.
As a bat, you just skim the water, which sprays lightly into your claws, and you reach the edge of the water. And it's really cool because you even do this like. Like you sort of like bow up with your wings. As your chest rises up, you. The magic transforms and you land on the stone on the other side of the lake. I'm just now realizing Polymorph is a concentration spell, right?
[01:38:49] Speaker D: Oh, yes.
[01:38:52] Speaker C: This was the lowest stakes environment we'll ever do it in, so we'll just not worry about it. But you can't polymorph more than one person at once. I just realized.
[01:39:00] Speaker D: That's right.
But which is weird because now we've learned. Strange about that is we've done it multiple occasions.
[01:39:10] Speaker C: Yeah. Which justly just means I wasn't paying attention to the rules, so. Oops.
[01:39:13] Speaker D: I wasn't really thinking about it either. I promise. I wasn't trying to get something.
We were like just traveling going.
[01:39:23] Speaker C: Yeah, I don't care. But going forward, now we know. Yeah, yeah, we've done that a bunch.
[01:39:28] Speaker D: We have. We're like, I Polymorph two people and Boz Polymorphs two people and.
Huh.
[01:39:35] Speaker C: Well, it was like. It was always like you did a couple Polymorphs and then Boz Wild chip. Yeah, this is coming back to me now.
That's what you did with. With Thoth Bus.
Anywho, you guys all land on the opposite side of the Lake placid and light in color, but a little murky below. And there's this rim of, like, kind of mangroved trees being lifted up on soft sands that are interspersed with, like, rocky, kind of, like, broken graveled patches. And you all are just landed around the lake, and there's just dense forest all around as you all transforming out of your forms. Tello lands, but remains a giant eagle for a bit. You get the feeling he's having fun with it. He just takes back off and starts flying around the lake.
[01:40:27] Speaker D: I have a question. I know this may not. It may not be the time to ask this, and you don't have to answer it right away.
[01:40:37] Speaker C: Do it. Do it.
[01:40:39] Speaker D: But just something to think about. Would it be possible for future times, like, if I cast polymorph at a higher level, I can cast it onto two people instead of one. Like, do that kind of thing.
[01:40:53] Speaker C: Language of the spell. Say you can do that?
[01:40:56] Speaker D: No, I was just asking you if that would be possible for, like, travel.
[01:41:01] Speaker C: I don't mean this to be sassy.
[01:41:04] Speaker D: No, that's okay.
[01:41:05] Speaker C: Upcast and fundamentally change the nature of concentration spells would be incredible.
[01:41:09] Speaker D: That's true. Okay. Okay. So just curious.
[01:41:13] Speaker C: The party has landed. What that party? Do you all just stand around a lake?
[01:41:21] Speaker D: Well, I look for. Okay, the directions she said were.
[01:41:28] Speaker C: She said near the lake.
[01:41:31] Speaker D: Said near the lake. So I start looking for a temple.
[01:41:34] Speaker C: And she said, that is what she was permitted to tell you.
[01:41:37] Speaker D: Oh, that is what she was permitted. So I'm going to do an investigation check for any arcana cloakingness.
That was bad. That was a bad roll. But I have a really high modifier, so that's.
[01:42:04] Speaker C: Abby split for, like, three seconds, and we lost our collective minds.
[01:42:07] Speaker D: Yeah, that's going to be a 17.
[01:42:13] Speaker C: Okay, good modifier.
[01:42:15] Speaker D: Yeah, I rolled a four.
[01:42:18] Speaker C: Holy crap. You have a plus 13.
[01:42:21] Speaker D: Yes, I do.
[01:42:22] Speaker C: Do you have expertise in arcana?
[01:42:24] Speaker D: Yes, I do.
[01:42:27] Speaker C: Okay.
Okay.
Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay, let's.
[01:42:41] Speaker D: Wait. That was. Yeah, that was an arcana check.
[01:42:42] Speaker C: It has an arcana check associated with an investigation check. For me, that was that. I decided to yawn in instead of out. That's What.
[01:42:50] Speaker D: What do you mean by associate it with a investigation?
Okay, just roll an investigation.
That's gonna be a 15.
[01:43:01] Speaker C: Clean.
Okay.
All right. Just making them.
You see no crackling energy in the air. You witness no field of objurative motion. But you do notice that a bunch of the rocks on the ground scattered around you, some of them are not the same color as the others, and they're in kind of a ring and there are stones within that. As you look at them for a second, look kind of unnaturally cut, like cut stones made broken in directions to look a little natural. But they don't have the asymmetry and the mixed textures of natural stone.
And as you step back and look at it, there's a little bit of a pattern to the way that they're scattered across the ground.
That's the investigation. Check with the arcana. You realize that you're in something of a magic circle. You're standing in this broad, 10 foot wide circle with scattered stones.
This is like a circular arrangement and the stone pieces inside could be rearranged to form glyphic symbologies.
Oh.
[01:44:33] Speaker D: Okay.
Sorry. I was looking at a circle.
[01:44:38] Speaker C: You didn't like, land in the circle, but it's nearby.
[01:44:40] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah.
[01:44:40] Speaker C: After a little looking around, you can find it.
Abby has dipped to take care of a chore really quickly. And Micah went to bed and Landon's not here. And I'm DMing for one player right now. And this is a trippy experience.
You know, fun fact, there was a very brief period of time where the Holy Hunters campaign was like on a brief hiatus. The Broken Kingdom campaign and this one obviously wouldn't exist for years. And the only person I was DMing for for like a month was Chara. And at the very beginning of the Legend of the New Ones campaign, before it was titled that, it was three people. And then two of them dropped out and I was just DMing for Kara. I DM'd like.
[01:45:27] Speaker A: I love that.
[01:45:27] Speaker C: Three, like two or three sessions for Chara. And I gave them a DM NPC. But it was just one player in a DM. And so weird fun, especially at that inexperienced point in my DMing. And I don't know, it was just a hot mess and it was a really good time.
[01:45:47] Speaker D: I'm going to.
No, I feel as though I shouldn't be the one to do this. And Greta is now back. Or Abby is about to. Oh, she's going to pee. Never mind.
[01:46:04] Speaker C: She. She doesn't have her earbuds and her earphones. She can't even tell. Yeah, we're telling her that's a bad time.
[01:46:10] Speaker D: Okay, so I'm going to. I'm going to cast just because I can. I'm going to. I love this.
[01:46:18] Speaker C: Sorry. Abby in the chat typed I'm also going to pee. And then we had that commentary. And then as she was leaving, she.
[01:46:23] Speaker D: Just typed P. Well, it's the so I. We. We said that Ro was brat. And so then we put bat in the brat font, and then Abby put trash, and then Abby put P in the brat font. If you know, you know, Rose gonna cast Ledger Mane for the first time. Maybe not the first time.
[01:46:48] Speaker C: Ledger Domain, a brand new Raycon somebody.
[01:46:54] Speaker D: Yeah. And I'm gonna. I'm gonna push one of the stones. Cause I'm, like, a little worried. Like, I don't want to touch it. Cause, like, I'm not a cleric of Ioun, so what if I touch this and, like, something bad happens?
So I'm gonna, like, I'm gonna move one of the stones closest to me just kind of.
[01:47:21] Speaker C: What is up, Bard? What is your first ever catching of as you've been carefully setting the osmodrecon or the osmodrecon physical you have in your possession. What does your casting of Ledger Domain look like?
[01:47:32] Speaker D: I want to say because it was in the Osmodoria, so it's like this. I don't know. I want to say it's like almost as she plays, it's like gold and purple and green, but it almost looks like pages of a book flipping out of her loot.
[01:47:52] Speaker C: Sick. That's it. Yeah.
[01:47:55] Speaker D: That's to wrap around. So anytime she caps it from now on, like, whether she uses it to write something, whether she uses it to, like, I want it to look like either like a book or a writing utensil every time she uses it to move something, whatever. So that's like, pages.
[01:48:09] Speaker C: Dope. That's awesome. Okay, so the. The ethereal, abstract kind of like. Like suggestive abstractions and waves of magic of like, flipping papers. Abby, you should check the chat of flipping pages, like, rotate, and as they do, the rock and the pattern of your foot just drags itself slightly through the mud. The other really cool thing is that as you've studied and understood how this. This song would be structured from this ancient time, you play for yourself a style of music you've never heard. It's like unearthing Mesopotamian music and understanding how to play it on a modern instrument. It's not unfathomable, but you are playing the music of an ancient culture long past. And when you hear it back, when you play it, it's just. It's just deeply new because it's from this ancient dead culture. So you play it, and the rock just slides in the mud and shifts.
[01:49:29] Speaker D: I all of a sudden, like, Road does not get care as much about these rocks as she does. Like, this music that she's Played. Yeah. She's like, oh.
And then, like, she sits there for a second.
[01:49:40] Speaker C: You're like, yeah. To prestigitation.
[01:49:46] Speaker D: And she just kind of sits there for a minute. And I think she does it, like, a couple more times. While everyone else is, like, looking for stuff maybe, and, like, moves some rocks.
[01:49:56] Speaker C: Tello's just flying around. Craig is picking up rocks off the beach and just tasting. Just taste selecting different ones.
Oz is just sitting there going, what you doing there, buddy?
[01:50:11] Speaker D: Oh.
Oh, Greta. Boz. Guys, I think these rocks.
Sorry. It's just new music, new spell.
[01:50:25] Speaker C: It's really cool.
[01:50:26] Speaker D: Okay, Craig. And she, like, does it again and moves one of the rocks and shows, like, how the pages come out and everything.
[01:50:35] Speaker C: But that's not my mouth.
[01:50:38] Speaker D: I'd rather not. Greta, I think these are like. And she, like, points out the.
[01:50:43] Speaker C: Greta's still an owl. She never unchanced. Four.
[01:50:45] Speaker D: Oh, no. Greta, if you wanna. I say, I think Ro unconcentrates from Greta.
[01:50:53] Speaker C: You're in control of the spell.
Greta's back to Greta.
[01:50:59] Speaker D: Greta, I think. Sorry. Greta, I think these stones, if we do something with them, they seem different. Maybe we can find an entrance. But I feel like it should be you because you are a cleric of Ion.
[01:51:20] Speaker C: Abby nodded in silence.
[01:51:25] Speaker D: Is Tello still.
Is Tello still.
[01:51:34] Speaker C: For plot reasons, he returns and returns because.
[01:51:38] Speaker D: I was gonna say I didn't want to undo. When he's in the air, you're the.
[01:51:41] Speaker C: One that can fly and not the one that's holding on to the people who could fly.
[01:51:45] Speaker D: I know, right?
[01:51:46] Speaker C: You guys see bars pooping in the sky? That was crazy.
[01:51:48] Speaker D: Yeah, I barely missed it.
[01:51:52] Speaker A: Jeez.
[01:51:54] Speaker C: Yo, what's up?
[01:51:56] Speaker A: The rocks. Can you describe the rocks that I missed when I was.
[01:52:00] Speaker D: Oh, that's true.
[01:52:01] Speaker C: She did miss my.
When you guys landed on the beach, Ro did some searching and realized that there's an entire set of rocks that were pretty significantly discolored from others. And where the other stones on the beach looked very natural, these looked like they had been cut to appear a little bit natural, and that there was a large ring of them arranged in a very tight circle, and that there were others scattered among them that looked like they were vaguely in some sort of an arcane arrangement.
[01:52:36] Speaker A: When I was flying, do I remember them being in, like, did. Did the bird's eye view.
[01:52:43] Speaker C: But them's there in a shape being Ross.
[01:52:48] Speaker A: There. So can I do, like, an arcana check to see if they are just rocks?
[01:52:54] Speaker C: Ro did an arcana check earlier and succeeded in saying that they Looked like they were in some sort of.
Like they were a ruined version of a magical arrangement.
Does the magical arrangement be ordered into a. Into a glyphic series?
[01:53:09] Speaker A: Yeah. Does it look familiar at all?
[01:53:13] Speaker C: Give me an ech.
Also, this is an important moment in a bridge section for a plot that's valuable to Greta. But I can just feel the.
[01:53:28] Speaker D: The.
[01:53:28] Speaker C: Just the bad crap gremlin energy rising in me. And it's kind of rising in Abby. Like I'm feeling the stupid.
I don't know, I'm just feeling.
[01:53:38] Speaker A: It gives you the impression that I have out of goblin energy rising in me.
[01:53:45] Speaker C: Three different times today. I forgot about. I thought about that moment where a long time ago, Craig ate that be asenberry and started to have diarrhea. And then boss turned into a rat. And then he was barking and pooping from both ends in Baz's hand while you guys were trying to convince Jupiter Yazlan to give you that contract for Lashla. And Ro was singing it all away and Greta was just apologizing.
Just missed that.
[01:54:09] Speaker A: I'm gonna use my inspiration.
[01:54:16] Speaker C: Oh, okay.
Holy crap. The Simpsons.
What'd you get?
[01:54:26] Speaker A: Oh, my.
That's obscene.
This is obscene.
[01:54:32] Speaker D: Can I say that it bartically inspired Greta while I was doing the.
The. The new spell and she was like, wow.
[01:54:41] Speaker C: I mean, cannot be applied after rolls.
[01:54:46] Speaker D: But she didn't say the number.
[01:54:49] Speaker C: Becky, don't even try.
She said.
[01:54:56] Speaker D: Obscene could mean because of.
[01:54:59] Speaker C: This incredibly low stakes environment. Okay, I. And Abby's clear. Caution. I'll let this be your one clarification.
[01:55:07] Speaker D: Thank you.
[01:55:08] Speaker C: The rest of the year. I know how this works.
[01:55:11] Speaker D: I do. But, I mean, there's two of us. I thought I could get away with some stuff.
[01:55:15] Speaker C: Abby, you have your bic inspiration from.
[01:55:21] Speaker A: Also I'm roll just to try and get that done.
[01:55:24] Speaker C: As you walk by, Craig goes and you're guided.
[01:55:29] Speaker A: Oh, D10.
[01:55:34] Speaker C: Yep. And a D4.
[01:55:36] Speaker D: Now, did you say your mom gave you inspiration earlier, Abby? Is that what it was said a second ago?
[01:55:49] Speaker A: That's a 38.
[01:55:54] Speaker D: Told you obscene can mean good.
[01:56:00] Speaker A: Do you think obscene was bad?
[01:56:02] Speaker D: I told you. I know absolutely me obscene was good.
[01:56:13] Speaker C: 38.
[01:56:16] Speaker D: You opened the secrets to the world.
[01:56:22] Speaker C: That's.
How did you. Did you get a Nat20?
[01:56:31] Speaker A: No, I got an 18.
My Arcana modifier is like crazy.
[01:56:37] Speaker C: Do you have expertise?
What?
[01:56:42] Speaker A: I don't know, honestly.
But I trust that it's there.
It's probably from the only bards could have expertise.
[01:56:54] Speaker D: Did you guys lie to me about that?
[01:56:56] Speaker C: Bars and rogues can.
I don't know how the cleric got it, but we'll circle back.
[01:57:03] Speaker D: Apparently Boz has like four expertise things too, and I was trying to figure that one out.
[01:57:09] Speaker A: Maybe it was.
[01:57:13] Speaker C: That's our new campaign record with a 38. Let's go.
I can't even process that. That's the second highest role in my dming his history.
[01:57:24] Speaker D: Wow.
[01:57:25] Speaker C: You just.
[01:57:28] Speaker A: What?
[01:57:28] Speaker D: What did she roll?
[01:57:29] Speaker C: Rolled that high?
[01:57:31] Speaker D: Oh, who rolled that? Who rolled that high?
[01:57:35] Speaker C: Wee. Woo. Jenny's character has the highest roll ever.
[01:57:39] Speaker A: What was that?
[01:57:40] Speaker C: Her little goofy stupid Ranger got a 45.
[01:57:47] Speaker D: That's amazing.
[01:57:48] Speaker A: How does that happen?
[01:57:50] Speaker D: Was it a silly role? Oh, it was a stealth check.
[01:57:53] Speaker C: It was a very silly role.
It was to be hidden from a person while the rest of the party sat and had a conversation with a person. The only thing she was hiding in was the slightly tall grass of a field. But here's the thing. There was an open field and she was. She was peeta painting mud herself. Hiding in the dirt, Peter.
[01:58:19] Speaker D: Painting mud herself.
[01:58:20] Speaker C: I love it. The thing is that she's a ranger and she has a really high dex mod and they were high level. So she had a good stealth and then she had cast pass without trace on herself. And then she. And then while we were sitting there talking, she was like, hey, does hide and plain sight work in this scenario? And then it's like another 10. And then she was like, so does that mean I have a plus 20 right now? And I was like, yeah, I guess so. And then she proceeded to roll a nat 20 and. Or like a 19 or something. And then we were like, Holy crap, that's a 45. And I was like, after we was done painting herself, the rest of you guys forget she ever existed.
While softer suffer object impermanence. That's the second highest roll ever. You just surpassed Janice.
[01:59:03] Speaker A: Wow.
[01:59:04] Speaker C: Now a really important piece is that the words of the world don't have a bard in their party. So nobody can get bartically inspired but that crazy dude.
[01:59:14] Speaker A: Yeah, man.
[01:59:15] Speaker C: Imagine what would happen if Ro is hanging around doing that to any.
That's crazy.
38. Holy crap.
Greta.
I wanted to do something stupid, but I actually kind of love this.
Greta. You stare at the Stones and you can see they have a pattern. You can see that they have some sort of a purpose. And as you look at them, like a breeze drifts by and Greta's wire hair just sort of picks up with it. When she does, her necklace shifts with it. And the breeze should only be enough to just bring barely Move it. But her necklace like picks up and where it falls back in front of her, it like lands kind of askew. And the eye within the eye starts to rotate. Oh, and the eye within that eye starts to rotate until it's kind of like, like, oh my goodness. What are those things that have a gyroscope? Like it's gyroscopically rotating within the central frame. And Greta wasn't even particularly aware that those pieces could rotate. And Greta doesn't notice cuz she's just looking at the stones.
And you all watch Greta kind of zone out and her eyes turn a little green at the rims and she just starts muttering to herself.
And as she mutters, Greta, you can see the pattern within the stone.
You can see what they need to be.
But you're so transfixed on them because you're not thinking about what they can be. You're thinking about why they are, how they are, what that means, what it means for magic.
You know, magic, you don't just know of it, you don't know how to use it. You know it. You are coming to know magic. Like a person, like begins to know a person you have met. Magic raw and in the flesh. And as you think about it and trace the pattern with your fingers, lighting up with the light cantrip as you trace the pattern of where it should be. As Greta's thinking, the rocks just start arranging themselves. And you watch as Greta is just standing there next to the circle, tracing with her finger, muttering. And her symbol is floating a little and the inner parts are rotating. She's just sitting there, real rearranging. It's like the stones are rearranging themselves in command with the movement of her finger.
And you all watch as this really complicated arrangement. It's very abstract in part. At first it looks like Greta's messing it up more than fixing it. But this increasingly complicated shape starts to take form. She's just altering it and altering and forming and forming it. Everybody gets a little quiet watching.
And as she does the water on the lake nearby, she like completes it. And when she does, all the stones match.
And some of them have been kind of stacked on top of each other, pushed up a little bit. And when Greta finally moves her last finger, one of the stones rolls down another one until it hits another one. And that stone kind of like flips and then it shifts and pushes another one.
Obviously Maya hasn't gotten enough attention. Hello, Maya.
And the stones start pushing and shifting each other until the symbol starts rearranging itself.
And Maya oh, my goodness. Booga booga. Maya, come here. Come here. Lay down in your little bed. They done a little bit. Okay, we're done.
Until they arrange themselves into the abstract image of an eye set around a smaller eye set around a smaller eye. And when they finally land in place, Greta, you kind of blink, harden.
You were doing all that in your head. Not here. Reality. But you blink. It's present in front of you. And when you do this, like, wave begins to rise in the lake, separating and reforming.
Each time it's bigger until it.
And the glyph nearby casts a massive permutation of the control water spell as waves just separate and rise up, exposing the bare dirt and mud of the lake, which suddenly turns into a stone path leading down. Oh, and the water rising up, revealing a fairly significant depth. And they just lead down a path.
[02:04:19] Speaker A: Greta looks around it at the other people kind of in, like, shock and awe.
[02:04:28] Speaker D: Ro. Ro looks at her like, just like, proud isn't the right word because, like, Ro doesn't have, like, the right to be, like, proud. Proud of her. But, like, just like, that's.
That's my party member. Like, that's my friend. That's.
[02:04:50] Speaker A: Yeah.
[02:04:51] Speaker D: Like, she's, like, in amazement of, like. Yeah, that's great.
[02:05:01] Speaker C: Like, the face you guys give me when I do one of those, like, really, really loud burps.
[02:05:07] Speaker D: Like, the total opposite of that.
[02:05:10] Speaker C: No, just like that, actually.
[02:05:17] Speaker A: I guess Greta starts walking down.
If the party member follows. If the party members follow.
[02:05:25] Speaker D: Yeah, Ro just, like, lead the way.
[02:05:29] Speaker C: The party falls in rank behind you, Greta, and starts walking. And between the wave walls, as you tread down the path, Greta, you start seeing in the stone cuts of the path below you, there's symbologies for the different schools of magic that you're treading over.
[02:05:48] Speaker A: Cool.
[02:05:49] Speaker C: Walking across.
And this. The. The, like, pieces of Greta's holy symbol have calmed down. They. They keep glowing lightly with green light. They're getting brighter the lower you guys are walking. As you all move further and further and further and further down, the walls get high enough of water that, like, where the water, like, spills over and arches, it's starting to meet, not changing shape, just reforming over you. Like, it's starting to form into an arch. And slowly you're walking through it. Tunnel of water.
And Greta's symbol starts lighting up brighter and brighter and brighter until those of you capable of multiple different sources of magical light, the symbol is shining enough to light your path. As you're walking through the dark. And as the light is kind of Dissipating behind you. You guys can hear the water rushing back together, closing itself just where you're no longer walking.
You guys stride lower and lower and lower until eventually you all walk to a large arched stone door.
It's like a. A yellowish pale stone and set into it. Oh, okay.
The inscribed. There is no handle on it.
There is no.
There is no clear point of entry. Just a door inset to a large wall. And there is text on it in a language you do not recognize at all.
Kind of scripted over it.
[02:07:44] Speaker A: I don't recognize it at all.
[02:07:48] Speaker C: Well, make me a history check really high DC.
Oh shoot.
What? No, you totally know this language.
You saw this in the temple of the old ones, the Westwood in some of the oldest texts. This is not common. This is not old common. This is elder common.
[02:08:14] Speaker A: Wow.
[02:08:15] Speaker C: A language from the time of the. Of the elder Ones or the old Ones.
[02:08:21] Speaker A: Wow.
[02:08:24] Speaker D: But I also know this.
[02:08:27] Speaker C: You also recognize it?
[02:08:29] Speaker D: Yeah, but I anger. Nice.
[02:08:32] Speaker C: You can't read it. You read. Yeah, it's like being like. Oh, I think that's French.
[02:08:37] Speaker D: Yeah.
[02:08:37] Speaker A: I wish I had my gurk. I wish I had those glasses.
[02:08:42] Speaker D: I know.
[02:08:44] Speaker C: Yeah. So many times a wild decision to not get them made them for you.
[02:08:49] Speaker A: Yeah, I can't believe I did.
How tall are the yours again?
[02:09:00] Speaker C: This one's probably like nine feet tall.
[02:09:04] Speaker A: Okay.
[02:09:06] Speaker C: And it's not like a split door. It's like this massive singular stone arch door.
[02:09:13] Speaker A: Wow. And are we under the water now or are we like in a.
[02:09:17] Speaker C: We're fully enca. Water at every side, stone path beneath you, mud at its edges, an answer tunnel of water closed at the back. Stone building where the water is rushing up an open door. There's a constant around you of water Rethar.
[02:09:35] Speaker D: Do you think your symbol might work as like a key?
[02:09:40] Speaker A: Well, maybe. Do you see a place to put it or a place to.
[02:09:43] Speaker C: You all look at the door without a keyhole.
[02:09:46] Speaker D: Maybe if you like hold it up to it, it'll like.
[02:09:51] Speaker C: I thought one of you had comprehend languages.
Am I crazy?
[02:09:54] Speaker D: I used to and I traded it.
[02:09:59] Speaker A: I don't. Isaac.
[02:10:04] Speaker D: Yeah, I used to and I don't have it anymore because I can't change out my spells.
[02:10:13] Speaker C: Continue to creatively problem solve.
[02:10:16] Speaker A: Grid is gonna.
I'm just gonna google something.
[02:10:25] Speaker D: If only we had. It's not a clear and like.
[02:10:32] Speaker A: Okay, maybe I need to get.
[02:10:36] Speaker C: And.
[02:10:37] Speaker A: Like trace the languages a little bit.
[02:10:40] Speaker C: Okay, you start tracing it over with your finger. It's finely carved, but looks ancient. It's filled with Some sort of like a soft moist residue inset by the lake. Precipitation likely. And it's grooves, it's finely carved.
[02:10:57] Speaker A: Oh, I guess I think she's gonna like.
[02:11:00] Speaker C: Greta just whispers to herself.
[02:11:05] Speaker A: She's gonna. I'm gonna take my fist and just like knock, knock.
[02:11:14] Speaker C: Nothing.
[02:11:16] Speaker A: Okay.
There's not a handle or anything?
[02:11:20] Speaker C: Nope.
You put together. It probably has something to do with the text.
[02:11:27] Speaker A: Okay.
[02:11:28] Speaker C: You have any divination spells of any kind?
I mean, augury's not going to do much for you here.
[02:11:51] Speaker D: Can I try something?
[02:11:53] Speaker C: No.
[02:11:54] Speaker D: Okay.
I'm gonna just. I'm gonna take a gander. Greta, do you mind if I just try? So, I mean, I know this is your.
[02:12:05] Speaker A: No, no, absolutely.
[02:12:08] Speaker C: Craig just goes. I got an idea after that.
[02:12:10] Speaker D: Okay.
Okay. So I'm going to cast deepest speech.
[02:12:25] Speaker C: Forgot you had that spell.
[02:12:27] Speaker D: And it says for the duration of spell, just for the audience, each time you speak, you can choose to speak in either a language which you know, or in deepest speech.
So I'm going to cast it, I'm going to play and like gold is gonna like flow out of my mouth as I say it. Like more gold. I like to flavor things with more gold. When it's like old song stuff and.
[02:13:02] Speaker C: Somebody'S been reading her. Spell this.
[02:13:04] Speaker D: I'm gonna say open in deepest speech to the. To the door.
[02:13:13] Speaker C: You're not to translate anything. You're trying to command the door.
[02:13:16] Speaker D: Yeah.
Okay.
Because I don't know how I would be able to translate with this spell, really. Because it's just me being able to speak in it. It allows me to speak in deepest speech.
So I thought maybe if it's really old language, it might react to deepest speakers speech.
[02:13:41] Speaker A: That's awesome.
[02:13:42] Speaker D: I'm gonna like trace my fingers over the words and over the door and say open in deepest speech. And it's gonna come out like really indecipherable multitudes as you wrote it.
[02:13:55] Speaker C: As you say it.
[02:13:56] Speaker D: And it says, I speak to the heart.
[02:13:59] Speaker C: Okay. It's a door. Calm down. Ezra speaks in many tongues. You all hear and feel, feel deep inside. In a language that you do not recognize, but can immediately understand.
Not the way that you understand someone speaking. The way that you understand a concept, the way that you understand a feeling. The way that you know, not like you know a fact, but like you know a person. You understand what she's saying, and she speaks in many unutterable tongues.
Okay, here's the thing. I don't want you to learn the wrong lesson from this.
[02:14:32] Speaker D: Yeah.
[02:14:33] Speaker C: Because what you Are trying to do is not what this spell does.
[02:14:37] Speaker D: Yeah, I know.
[02:14:38] Speaker C: Like even a little bit.
[02:14:39] Speaker D: I know.
[02:14:40] Speaker C: But you are an incredibly powerful caster from this subclass. And this school of magic does have a certain degree of sway over realities.
So I'm gonna say you can make a really high dc.
I mean really high dc.
Check with your ability casting modifier.
Charisma. Yeah, charisma.
[02:15:13] Speaker D: So just straight charisma.
[02:15:15] Speaker A: I'm gonna straight. I'm gonna come over and like without trying not to disturb her, I'm going to put my hand on her shoulder and cast. I'm going to guide her.
[02:15:25] Speaker C: Okay. Craig also comes over and also puts a hand on his shoulder and farts a little and cast guidance.
[02:15:34] Speaker D: That doesn't help any to say.
[02:15:36] Speaker C: Just. Yeah, but it's a very little one. It's just like.
[02:15:40] Speaker D: Okay, sick.
[02:15:44] Speaker C: It's kind of like a polite question trying to hold it together and broke at the same moment.
A polite question of a toot.
What?
[02:16:11] Speaker D: No, don't say that.
I only I. I.
[02:16:26] Speaker C: Open worked on his.
And what makes it much funnier was that she misspelled. But you spoke in deepest speech in the deepest parts of cross. Like reacted and obeyed.
[02:16:43] Speaker A: I'm so sorry, Jackie.
[02:16:45] Speaker D: It's okay. I'm so sorry. Cuz I only got a 16 cuz it was just my charisma modifier. Right. Which is plus 5.
[02:16:52] Speaker C: Yeah. Oh my goodness. That's so funny. Even with the guidance open worked on his butt.
Ro. You speak deeply to speak deep. Deeply.
[02:17:08] Speaker D: I'm sorry.
[02:17:09] Speaker C: The point of affecting reality around you and.
And moving Craig to gastrointestinal genu flexion. But the door like shutters briefly like okay. And then does not move.
[02:17:30] Speaker D: Nice. I look at Greta and I go.
First time I've ever tried that.
[02:17:36] Speaker A: That was beautiful, Ro.
[02:17:38] Speaker D: Yeah, it was weird. I liked it though.
[02:17:40] Speaker A: It was incredible.
Wow.
[02:17:42] Speaker C: I've never farted because someone else wanted me to.
[02:17:46] Speaker D: Yeah, that's a little worrisome, Craig.
[02:17:49] Speaker C: That was a religious experience.
I feel closer to the maker. Now.
[02:17:56] Speaker A: Greta's gonna go up to the door and put both of her palms on it and she's gonna cast identify on the door.
Okay.
[02:18:13] Speaker C: Greta, you.
You speak a question and knowledge from a forgotten age answers back to you in your own mind as you identify this as a door of syllabic response, which means that this is. This is a door with a passcode phrase. And that understanding what is written upon it permits you to speak correct response. And the door responds to it and opens.
[02:18:53] Speaker A: Okay, got it.
An important insight yeah, yeah.
[02:19:01] Speaker C: Somewhere out there. A pair of glasses on a shelf in a magic shop. In a magic shop. Collect one more particle of dust. Just.
[02:19:08] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. Dude.
How does this resemble common at all?
[02:19:24] Speaker C: Not. Not a lot, but none.
[02:19:39] Speaker A: Greta's gonna do her best to sound out the door.
[02:19:44] Speaker C: Stop.
[02:19:46] Speaker D: Can I. This.
[02:19:47] Speaker C: Okay. Greta does. Greta does the equivalent of trying to piece together what Mandarin would sound like by looking and symbolizing language she doesn't understand. Doesn't understand. Abby, I'll give you.
I'll tell you what. I'll let you roll a check for this.
[02:20:07] Speaker A: Are you gonna do that?
[02:20:08] Speaker C: What is your. What's your what? Check should this be? What's your.
[02:20:18] Speaker D: But I want to know what's happening.
[02:20:21] Speaker C: What's your. I'm gonna make this really unreasonable because that request was insane.
What is your General Intelligence modifier 22?
[02:20:33] Speaker A: Oh, modifier 6.
[02:20:35] Speaker C: That's right. Because you put your wellspring bonus not in the casting ability, but in your stat dump. That's right.
So now I feel more justified in giving you this opportunity. So that means your maximum possible role is a 26. Now, you and I both know there's going to be a little butt junk here that's gonna give you a little bonus somehow. So we're gonna make this.
I don't know, guys.
Episode 133, Butt Jump.
[02:21:05] Speaker D: So you don't have a title, so.
[02:21:09] Speaker C: Butt chunk.
So this is gonna be DC26, but I'll give you a plus one to the check if you very earnestly, earnestly in. Authentic. Authentically and deeply give us a live action improv interpretation of what that sounding out sounds like. And I will not give you that additional plus one if you do not send it.
[02:21:34] Speaker D: What is she sending to?
[02:21:39] Speaker A: Okay, can you describe the text a little more?
[02:21:48] Speaker C: No.
This has to come from your improv heart.
[02:21:52] Speaker D: Are the characters, like, symbols? You said they're not anything, like, common at all.
[02:21:57] Speaker C: Who knows?
[02:21:57] Speaker D: Like, a C is not like, it's.
[02:21:59] Speaker C: All up to Abby now. It's all up to Abby now.
Oh, she stood up for this. She's backing up.
[02:22:05] Speaker A: So just standing there, looking at the door.
And the way I love this, the way I envision the door is like, it's a big arc, right? So the text, like, starts here and then, like, arcs over the door like that. That's how I imagine it. And so she gonna stand up, she's gonna take it to.
Okay. And she's gonna go like this.
Looking at this part of the door, and she's gonna go across. Okay.
[02:22:41] Speaker C: Mer.
[02:22:42] Speaker A: Okay, Mer.
P. Mergle me or.
[02:23:01] Speaker C: Poor.
The best part, listener, is that Abby is physically acting this out.
[02:23:19] Speaker D: Yeah. I wish the listeners could see this.
[02:23:26] Speaker A: And then up here, like, slight.
[02:23:27] Speaker C: On the.
[02:23:28] Speaker A: The arc of the middle, I'm thinking there's, like, a squiggly shape and then like a round box shape, and then there's a line. So she's going, shmoop.
[02:23:39] Speaker C: Murgle me. Cork is for rip.
[02:23:43] Speaker D: Elder common is just like some weird.
[02:23:47] Speaker C: An Elder Common. Archmage is just going.
[02:23:55] Speaker A: Ball, ball.
[02:24:00] Speaker C: Ball.
[02:24:03] Speaker A: Girl.
[02:24:08] Speaker C: And so Abby. What was that? Total.
[02:24:13] Speaker A: Mergobe.
[02:24:17] Speaker D: Looks like a water drop.
[02:24:21] Speaker A: Burgles.
She does that. She keeps focusing on it. She's. She's looking at.
She's looking at, like.
[02:24:32] Speaker C: I've seen those dance moves in a highly charismatic church before. That was wild.
[02:24:35] Speaker A: She's looking at, like, the lines, and she's looking for. She's trying to look for patterns to see if there's any sounds that.
[02:24:41] Speaker C: And the most important thing I can say about all that is that is what Greta does in front of you all. She ushers you down here to this ancient temple, and then she starts going, smurgle me cor.
Just like, oh, make the check, I guess.
[02:25:01] Speaker A: Okay.
[02:25:03] Speaker C: Wow.
That's.
[02:25:08] Speaker A: It's a general intelligence.
[02:25:11] Speaker C: The hilarity of that was amazing. You have inspiration if you need it.
[02:25:15] Speaker A: I do. I used it.
[02:25:18] Speaker B: Yeah.
[02:25:18] Speaker C: Didn't you earn a second one?
[02:25:20] Speaker A: I used that one too.
I mean, it has guidance butt junk with the plus one. I rolled a 16. I rolled a four on my guide, my modified six, and I have a plus one.
[02:25:41] Speaker D: 27.
[02:25:45] Speaker C: Girl, you bypassed the mechanics by going, mergle me close. Clorguish lipped.
You are the luckiest son of a dagnab nutcracker in the entire universe. Do you have any idea the sheer luck of your character?
Anyone ever listening to this? To this, to this podcast? For every failed role you've ever had, for every character death.
Oh, all that negative karma got dumped back positive here. And I. I hope the success of Abby's character feels like some sort of indication. Abby, not to make your success about me, but all I can say is, you're welcome. Seven years of bad rolling. I gift to you a par. Either that or you're the parasite who's been sucking it away. I don't know how you're doing this. Oh, don't that much.
Greta goes, mergle me coral schlop. And then the door goes and starts lifting up. And let the record show that's not what Elder's Common sounds like. But this really specific rain phrase in elder common is weird, but the rest of elder common sounds pretty cool.
One phrase is just really stupid and you successfully bypass phrase. They chose the apt and profound riddle I had on this door by just improving. So funny that I had to give it to to you. And then the dice loving you more than everyone else. You and Kara, I swear.
The door lifts and grinds upward, revealing from behind it a long stone hall of many bronze braziers burning with a dim green light.
And standing between them, immediately behind the door facing you wall, is a lithe lean woman with a very tight bun of dark brown crinkly hair. She has prominent features, dark skin, sharp eyes, and she has these layered monastic green and gold robes and a tied belt around her waist with a number of bronze studs in it. Four bronze studs. She has these wrapped knuckles and wrapped tops of her toes, but bare feet and a non magical pendant of the symbol of Ioun hangs from her neck. And she just says, welcome, we've waited a long time for you.
And that's where we'll end episode 132, which I originally named the price of knowledge and wound up being a completely reasonable end.
[02:29:22] Speaker D: Yeah, it feels right.
[02:29:25] Speaker C: Wow.
[02:29:26] Speaker D: Or butt junk.
One of the other.
[02:29:32] Speaker C: I. Somebody help. Remind me when this gets uploaded for the the subject text of this episode in the description to say episode 133, the price of Knowledge. Butt junk, parentheses.
[02:29:49] Speaker D: How are you even gonna spell that, bro?
[02:29:52] Speaker C: With passion. If anyone in this world is qualified to make up that nonsense and put it to text, it's me, Abby.
Unhinged, dude.
[02:30:03] Speaker D: Nice.
[02:30:04] Speaker C: Unhinged.
[02:30:05] Speaker D: She rolled the highest roll of the campaign and then opened the door by speaking gibberish tonight.
What a time.
[02:30:17] Speaker A: What a time.
[02:30:18] Speaker D: This is our cleric, Abby. All I give you our cleric.
[02:30:23] Speaker C: Like you put some power on display at the end of that session. I don't know what eldritch pact you've made, but I don't know. Dude, that's crazy what you just did. That was wild.
[02:30:42] Speaker A: That's so cool.
[02:30:43] Speaker C: I believe Romans 2:11, but it felt like God shows some favoritism just then. I don't know how you did that. That was insane, bro.
I might be the dm, but I'm not in control of this story. You are.
[02:30:58] Speaker A: That was why that's kind of at the beginning.
[02:31:04] Speaker C: That was nuts.
Wow, dude, wow.
Anyhow, well pick up next time with the temple of the Order of Ioun.
We're gonna pick up next time with a ton of world building, a bunch of monks and a bunch of lore.
38, dude. 38.
[02:31:31] Speaker D: Didn't King give us something?
Tell us something about some. They told he did about him. But what did he.
What did he tell us to give them something. I don't remember.
[02:31:44] Speaker C: I don't know. You guys should check your notes.
[02:31:45] Speaker D: Yeah.
[02:31:46] Speaker C: You can always go back and listen. Yeah.
Anywho, Life's an incredible adventure. Patreon's cool. I don't know how to process anything anymore after that session. That was unhinged.
So stay away from unstable, flirtatious pixies is the takeaway of this session. Um, just because someone's cute doesn't mean they're a good idea. So life's an incredible adventure, and you're an important part of it?
I guess. I don't know.
Bye.
