Episode Transcript
[00:00:04] Speaker A: Welcome back to Barely D and D. This is your sort of Dungeons and Dragons podcast. This is Landon timokathy Williams. We are coming back with a hot episode right off the grill.
Yeah, it was a nickname at youth group that I had for some reason.
[00:00:19] Speaker B: Okay, listener, the last three messages in our chat are. Abby, I simply must pee. I have so many apologies. I have apologies. Micah uses the word go piss early.
[00:00:30] Speaker A: Micah uses the word piss. I didn't know that Micah said piss.
[00:00:34] Speaker B: Everybody.
[00:00:35] Speaker A: Micah said piss.
[00:00:36] Speaker C: There was a time where Landon got mad at me.
[00:00:40] Speaker D: I feel. I feel convicted about it sometimes, and then I just don't use it in that way anymore.
[00:00:45] Speaker A: You should. You should.
[00:00:47] Speaker B: In that way.
[00:00:48] Speaker D: Shaming me.
[00:00:49] Speaker A: I'm just kidding.
[00:00:50] Speaker B: Micah's walking down the street going, hey, you listen here, you piss hell you brother.
[00:01:00] Speaker C: What is happening?
[00:01:01] Speaker B: Anyway, welcome back to Billy D and D. Clearly, it's us. This is the Accidental Adventures. We are here with our 138th episode.
Oh, who's the DMN PC?
[00:01:16] Speaker A: Did I miss?
[00:01:17] Speaker C: Depends on the question.
[00:01:18] Speaker A: I show is 134.
[00:01:19] Speaker C: Yeah. Landon, I don't know what's going on with your notes. I just. I was in the chat of many things, and you're at 135, but we have 136 was Echoes of Violence. 137 was Sinking Feeling. You are blind.
[00:01:31] Speaker A: Oh, my.
My count is off.
[00:01:35] Speaker C: Oh, yeah, because you were gone for a few episodes. That's why.
[00:01:37] Speaker A: Is 134 listed twice?
[00:01:40] Speaker C: Don't know, bruh.
[00:01:41] Speaker A: All right, so let's keep it rolling. I don't know what's happening. Crazy.
[00:01:50] Speaker B: I have a letter question. Oh, okay. Well, we'll go with the letter question first. If.
If there was a proverbial sunken ship at the bottom of the ocean and a treasure chest inside belonging to your character, and someone went down there and got the treasure chest and opened it, what would your character's treasure in the treasure chest at the bottom of the sea be?
[00:02:09] Speaker C: Oh, and this is like something we hid.
[00:02:12] Speaker B: Treasure chest.
[00:02:13] Speaker C: We hid this.
[00:02:13] Speaker B: Interpret it as you will. What's in their locked treasure chest recovered from the wreck. And who's the dmnpc? Who's the Daemonpucker?
[00:02:22] Speaker A: I want the GM npc. If it was me choosing. Everybody else can have their own opinion, but for me, in my house, I'm choosing the captain of the ship that we all were on during the first episodes of the campaign. I want to know what she would hide in the oceans.
One who was ready to kill Nam and throw her off the edge of the ship.
[00:02:45] Speaker C: I didn't even meet that character.
[00:02:48] Speaker B: All right, I don't remember that character's name.
[00:02:50] Speaker C: I'm gonna say the Chicken Pirates.
[00:02:53] Speaker A: I like that too. That's a better answer than mine, I'll admit. I'm not afraid to admit that, and I will right now.
[00:02:58] Speaker B: What was he, Captain Lemon Pepper or something?
[00:03:00] Speaker A: Captain Thorngood thought it was.
[00:03:03] Speaker B: Oh, his name was a playoff. Colonel Sanders. Yes. Yeah, yeah. KF Sanders or something. Yes, Captain Sanders. Okay, and then. Okay, so we have our letter question.
Grabby, do you want to go first?
[00:03:20] Speaker E: Yes. What's the letter question?
[00:03:25] Speaker A: The letter question is what? Where would your character go to brunch?
[00:03:29] Speaker C: No, that's not a question.
[00:03:31] Speaker B: That is.
[00:03:32] Speaker A: We got a bunch of narcs here and a bunch of narc.
[00:03:36] Speaker B: See, this is why. This is why Micah didn't take the lead. The Leditor question is, if there was a sunken treasure from in a shipwreck at the bottom of the sea, and the sunken treasure belonged to your character, what would someone unearth from the treasure chest? Can I.
[00:03:53] Speaker A: Can I have my. Can I do mine?
[00:03:54] Speaker B: Yeah, go get him, Boz.
[00:03:56] Speaker A: So Boz would hide a very elaborate fine wood chest made out of some type of wood on the lost lands. Magically endowed, shimmery, sparkly. And inside there would be another, smaller treasure chest.
[00:04:15] Speaker B: Oh, my goodness. Yes.
[00:04:16] Speaker A: Magically lost queens with a riddle etched into the side of the chest for another wreckage where the key is found, but in the ocean on the other side of the world.
[00:04:27] Speaker C: My gosh, that's awesome.
[00:04:29] Speaker B: And very boss. Like.
[00:04:32] Speaker A: Tape to the bottom is like.
[00:04:33] Speaker B: A consolation that no one ever finds because they don't flip it over.
[00:04:37] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:04:39] Speaker B: Not only was that a good answer, but Abby's mic was still a little audible. So the whole time you were answering, like, if you're listening very closely, you can hear Abby go. You can go potty. Go potty. Go potty. And that was my favorite thing about that answer.
[00:04:56] Speaker D: That was me with her earlier.
[00:04:58] Speaker B: Yeah, true, true. She's passing on. Ooh, burger looks good. Lando Mickle, what's your answer?
[00:05:06] Speaker D: I think it's a pretty obvious one, and there's a reason why it's still the bottom of the ship.
[00:05:13] Speaker B: Come on.
[00:05:14] Speaker D: I mean, you could have guessed it. It's either a weirdly shapen and put together craftsman wooden box. Like, he put it together himself, but didn't have, like, the skill to make it look bad.
[00:05:27] Speaker B: Chest.
[00:05:28] Speaker D: Yeah, and it's like, like pieces of plywood that have just been, like, put together and then, like, it's just a very minecrafty box.
[00:05:36] Speaker B: The holes are so big you can see inside.
[00:05:39] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah. Like you already know. It's. It's not hidden treasure.
[00:05:42] Speaker B: It's.
[00:05:42] Speaker D: It's known. But I'll say either. Inside it is rocks that he's collected over his whole life. Like, all of his favorite. Like, that's where he. Bro dog, Are you okay?
[00:05:57] Speaker B: Oh, I know you. You turned your camera off. So just hear me. Choking on a Wendy's burger would be a really lame way to die. Don't go this way.
[00:06:04] Speaker C: Dude.
[00:06:04] Speaker D: Please don't.
Stomp your feet.
[00:06:08] Speaker B: He's so lame.
[00:06:09] Speaker D: Stomp your feet. Get help.
[00:06:11] Speaker B: He made it.
[00:06:12] Speaker D: Oh, he's fine. He dabbed.
[00:06:13] Speaker B: Okay. All right. Either rock. Either rock collection or so rock.
[00:06:19] Speaker D: No, no rock. Chathood. Or rocks. Tried to eat and thinks that they're still, like, Like.
So he's tested.
[00:06:29] Speaker B: I haven't followed. Candy contender collection.
[00:06:32] Speaker D: Yeah, it's just the trash.
[00:06:34] Speaker E: I have a question.
[00:06:34] Speaker D: He puts the rock.
[00:06:36] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:06:37] Speaker E: You guys know about those coffee beans that they feed to lemurs? And then the lemurs digest the coffee beans, and then they're very expensive.
[00:06:47] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:06:47] Speaker E: Does that happen with Greg?
[00:06:50] Speaker B: Abby, why would you.
Would you.
[00:06:54] Speaker C: I'm pretty sure those aren't really good idea.
[00:06:58] Speaker B: Abby, what you did just then was voluntary. You chose to do it.
[00:07:02] Speaker E: They would be small rock, obviously. Maybe gravel.
[00:07:05] Speaker D: I don't eat rocks. I'm not gonna eat gravel.
[00:07:09] Speaker B: Okay, Jekyll, your turn. Your turn.
[00:07:11] Speaker C: Okay.
Can mine be. I would like it to be a chest of many things. I would like it to be where they can reach in. And I'm not allowed to do that.
[00:07:23] Speaker B: Maybe. I guess it's a hypothetical question.
[00:07:25] Speaker C: She was. She was gonna put. She was out. She was gonna put. I love how I went and had this conversation with her.
[00:07:33] Speaker B: I believe it. I believe that.
[00:07:37] Speaker C: She would put, like, baked goods and cupcakes from all around the world, but they need to stay in there so that they stay long. Like, they stay good a long time. And then she would have, like, maybe a musical instrument of some sort and. And a map with all of the bakeries that the baked goods came from so they can go get more of those baked goods.
[00:08:05] Speaker E: That's really sweet. I love that.
[00:08:07] Speaker B: That's an awesome answer.
[00:08:10] Speaker E: Why are you laughing?
[00:08:14] Speaker D: Why are you talking about Jackie having.
[00:08:16] Speaker B: The conversation with her own character? My mind just immediately cut to, like. It's like 2am Jackie's mom has been woken up by a sound. She goes to Jackie's room and opens the door. All the lights are off, but Jackie's sitting in the corner, facing the corner. And when her mom turns the lights on, she just hears, well, I don't know. What do you think, Rowena? And then Jackie just says, because, you know, you think about it, and she's just like, oh, no. She just turns the light back off and closes the door. I don't know. That's.
[00:08:46] Speaker C: It's possible.
[00:08:50] Speaker B: Everyone else in Jackie's life just thinks she has a friend named Rona.
Excellent. Well, Abby, what is Grickle's answer?
[00:09:01] Speaker D: Sorry.
[00:09:04] Speaker E: I'm back, guys.
[00:09:05] Speaker D: I'm back.
[00:09:06] Speaker E: My anvils are blue.
[00:09:07] Speaker B: She's so back. She's so back, dude.
[00:09:13] Speaker C: Okay.
Oh, the dog is having the Zoomies. That's cute.
[00:09:20] Speaker E: Yeah.
Early Grieva. It would probably be, like. So I'm gonna give three answers.
Pre Hag Grieba. It would be, like, probably a lot of, like. Like, agriculture stuff and like. Like, stuff like that. I think Greta would see this more of, like, a time capsule as, like, a treasure. So she would put in, like, some seeds and, like, some pressed flowers and, like, grain and bread and recipes and stuff, and probably, like, a lot of information. And then had Greta. It would be, like, skulls and bones and probably still, like, recipes, but for more evil things. So evil recipes, stuff like that. And then now Greta's, I think, evolved to be really into trinkets. Like, she's got, like. She's got the little statue. She's really into the trinkets. She Stuff, like the little metal bee that Boz has. Stuff like that. Just little, like, sweet things that remind her of her friends and her adventures, because I think that has become her treasures.
[00:10:36] Speaker B: Well, that was really sweet. Also, I just realized we could refer to Greta as Phg IHA and AHG Pre Hag Greta in her hag era.
[00:10:50] Speaker E: Can it be Post hag era?
[00:10:53] Speaker B: There's that. Yeah, we can do Phe, too.
In Captain Sanders chest would be, first of all, treasure. He's a pirate.
You picked a pirate for the dmnpc. So there would be buyer treasure.
[00:11:08] Speaker C: That's cool.
[00:11:10] Speaker B: Absolutely.
There would also be the dragon scale knife that Boz gave him. That's a. That's a treasured possession. Now, the Zorgrim knife, which he still has, along with, I think, a small collection of love letters to, like, a pork crush that absolutely none of his crew knows about and that he would be mortified should they learn about. But he has them there, and they're very important to him. I think. I think there's a Softy. Somewhere under the murder and the thievery.
So like an annoying character. So actually, I mean, I like things about him, but I'm just being testy. So for the note taking, this is episode 138, despite what they'll tell you on Reddit of the Accidental Adventures the Drowned keep.
[00:12:20] Speaker E: This is 138. 138.
[00:12:23] Speaker B: 1 3, 8.
[00:12:26] Speaker E: This is 8.
[00:12:30] Speaker B: This is 8, bro.
Also, hate to be the person to tell you this or this is a. Guys, Abby didn't learn to count. Get started on it. She doesn't even know how to count, dude.
She hold up three fingies and she was like, this is eight.
I'm in an obnoxious dude and.
Oh, okay. Abby's tired.
[00:12:56] Speaker A: You guys know how Zach has a boss shirt? I decided that I'm going to only use my Arby's dice for boss fights.
[00:13:03] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:13:06] Speaker D: Never mind.
[00:13:07] Speaker A: What?
[00:13:09] Speaker D: Never mind.
[00:13:10] Speaker A: What'd you say?
[00:13:12] Speaker D: I almost said, is that why you had an Arby's burger? You did not. You had Wendy's. I stand corrected. We can leave this as it is.
[00:13:19] Speaker E: Arby's doesn't have burger.
[00:13:22] Speaker A: Abby's doesn't have those.
[00:13:23] Speaker D: Don't eat at Arby's.
[00:13:25] Speaker B: When did we become so connected? Episode 138 of the Accidental Adventures the Drowned Keep. This is a level 12 adventure. The date is 3488 post birth. Sihedron 15AMEC.
Again, Abby is showing off that she never learned how to count. So I'm gonna. You guys.
[00:13:46] Speaker C: Oh. Because we spent a lot of time.
I was like, what?
[00:13:52] Speaker B: Walk amongst yourselves, slobby.
Because I have to turn on a camera for no reason.
[00:13:59] Speaker C: Do we need to. When did. I don't remember. When? I don't hear no music.
[00:14:05] Speaker A: That's okay. We haven't started yet.
[00:14:07] Speaker C: No, but Zach just asked us if we heard music.
[00:14:14] Speaker B: Okay. Scrolling down. Yes. Okay, I need that. Yep.
[00:14:18] Speaker C: Does.
[00:14:18] Speaker D: Where?
[00:14:19] Speaker A: All the way up.
[00:14:21] Speaker C: Landon and Micah. Where did y'all. Oh, now I hear it. Where did y'all. What did y'all remember?
[00:14:28] Speaker A: Way early. I left when we were getting down there and putting on placements and then that was it. I didn't see anything after that. Did y'all see we were fighting?
[00:14:36] Speaker B: You guys. No. No one's seen what's being hypothetically fought yet. So we're not fighting anything.
[00:14:41] Speaker C: I don't know what you're talking about.
[00:14:42] Speaker B: You guys have are in the Sapphire Desert off of the coast of Hashas. The north western coast of Hashas. In between that and Syndoria. They have plunged into the sea, and they are now many thousands of feet below it. Below a storm raging above. And you all have landed on worst lantern. He just messaged just piss.
Ah, it's like fart. It's gonna get me every time. So you guys have gone far below the sea.
Somebody else.
[00:15:16] Speaker C: We have landed under the seat.
[00:15:22] Speaker A: Under the sea, and I. Okay, here's. Let's take bets. Okay, let's. Let's take some bets. But we're gonna fight whoever's the closest. As determined by Zachary. That is a cursed gift. Gets a reward from Boz. I think we're going to be fighting Kuo Toa. I think we're fighting Kuo Toa. What about you guys?
What, Chaffy?
[00:15:50] Speaker C: I think we're fighting the Sea Hag's minions. I think we're not fighting the Sea Hag yet. I think the Sea Hag sent her little minions to us. And those minions are little.
See enemies. See enemies.
[00:16:08] Speaker A: I. I think the Coates. I think. It's not that these things are not from the keep. I think the Kua Toa are also trying to go into the keep to get something they need for their godfish, and we're just meeting at the wrong time. That's what I think.
[00:16:20] Speaker C: I think maybe that's a. But I think that's like saying, I don't know, like, why is. I feel like every time we go under the water is Kuo Toa? Like, that's not the only thing that lives under there.
[00:16:34] Speaker D: Yeah, but maybe it could be Legatha or.
[00:16:37] Speaker C: Look.
[00:16:37] Speaker D: What is it like?
Yeah, Abby told me the other one.
[00:16:44] Speaker E: No, I didn't.
[00:16:45] Speaker A: I need to get the one that.
[00:16:47] Speaker D: Looks like a Kuatoa, but it's not.
[00:16:49] Speaker A: I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Jackie.
[00:16:51] Speaker C: What?
[00:16:51] Speaker A: No, it's giving me anxiety. It's giving me anxiety.
[00:16:54] Speaker D: Get the cat pissed back.
[00:16:56] Speaker C: Zach has to see it. You took it away.
[00:16:58] Speaker A: Stop taking away my giving me anxiety.
[00:17:01] Speaker C: Well, then don't look at it.
[00:17:03] Speaker A: I have to have the chat open. Zach isn't that bad.
[00:17:10] Speaker C: Why do you have to have the chat open?
[00:17:14] Speaker E: You still see messages that pop up.
[00:17:17] Speaker B: Okay, so the DM is taking control again.
So if. Can you guys see the map? Oh, I should have.
[00:17:24] Speaker A: Yeah. I don't like that. The death rollers there.
[00:17:31] Speaker E: Oh, yeah. That makes me real. Uncle.
[00:17:37] Speaker A: Can y'all hear the fan?
[00:17:38] Speaker B: I upgraded it fairly. I'm sorry.
[00:17:41] Speaker C: No.
[00:17:44] Speaker D: If we can't hear your dice, we can't hear the fan.
[00:17:50] Speaker A: The microphone than the die.
[00:17:52] Speaker B: I've upgraded the map since last time.
[00:17:55] Speaker E: So it's pretty.
[00:17:57] Speaker B: Thank you. I worked hard on it. So these are two large rocks, right?
[00:18:01] Speaker A: Looks like piss.
[00:18:02] Speaker C: I have it looks incredible.
[00:18:06] Speaker B: I mean, so those rocks are structures that are at this, like, cliff's edge. And you are all underwater, but the dark blue space over the edge is all like further depths and to the point that you can't see the next cliff face over. So it's just a drop. Hard to say what's over that edge.
This wall here with the lines behind it is like this thick wall kind of attached to the mountain face. So above it you're not seeing anything. Right? Like, there's no, you can't like get up on this lip. It's just like stone face coming up. That's why there's the multiple lines. But then these levels, right, These divisions here. Like, this is the lowest level. And then if you swim 10ft up, you're on this level.
Does that make sense?
[00:18:52] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:18:53] Speaker B: And then this level's higher up than that.
There are these large stones right here. The whole party's gathered right there. Purple is Roe, blue is Craig, green is Greta, yellow is Tello, and black is wild shaped paws. If you on wild shapes, I'll put red back. This is the back half of a ship right here.
The front half of a ship is over here. And I have heights listed on those. And there are other, like, shipwreck parts around you. They're just not.
I didn't have time to draw an entire ship graveyard. But they are there under, under dussy and had you get me like Pavlovian. I didn't mean to say that.
And anything else important? No. Oh, oh, oh. I have some quick mechanical notes for all the players.
This is important.
So your swim speed. And we will assume that everyone has one unless they don't specify. Now, Craig specified a long time ago that, that he doesn't have a swim speed. But if Micah will remember, she has roleplayed Craig learning to swim with the assistance of Bill Free and Pl. So it's not a good swim speed, but he has one. Everyone's swim speed is half of your walking speed, so that's important to remember.
[00:20:18] Speaker A: Do you remember what type of shark that I am?
[00:20:22] Speaker B: Is there a stat block for like a general reef shark?
[00:20:28] Speaker A: Yeah, I can figure it out if you don't remember. I, I, I can piece together what it was.
[00:20:33] Speaker B: Okay. Just whatever the most average shark stat block is. Just, just real, average, normal.
[00:20:40] Speaker A: Well, I, I remember choosing the one that was at like the max cr for the wild shape that I have, I just need to figure out what that is.
[00:20:48] Speaker B: All right.
Okay. Well, so everyone's movement is half of their or half. Everyone's swim is half of their movement, obviously. Except for the wild shaped guy. He has just his swim speed.
Then importantly, going up or down is harder than moving side to side. So whatever you're just like in water. Swimming up and down is harder than just swimming laterally. Swimming vertically is harder than swimming laterally. So your vertical swim speed is far 5 less than your lateral swim speed. Those are the rules we're using.
Swim is half your movement. Your vertical is 5 less than your regular swim. And then some quick reminders on underwater combat for absolutely no reason at all.
If you have.
If you do not have a weapon that is a thrown weapon and it is not, and you are not a race that comes with a swim speed, then you have disadvantage on weapon attacks and any weapon attack. You know how there's two ranges on ranged weapons. Attacks like, you know, your weapon could have like 2060, so 20 is your regular throw range. And then like the second number is your disadvantage range that second. Anything beyond that initial range just misses. Because the idea is that the momentum of the water slows a projectile down. So if you have a 2060 range, you can only throw to 20. Anything beyond 20, your weapon just misses. It just stops short in the water.
[00:22:26] Speaker C: What did you say? I'm sorry, I was confused. You said about not. Well, you were saying this is. This just applies to thrown weapons.
[00:22:36] Speaker B: Yeah, I said so many words. None of you guys are aquatic races, so don't worry about it. For ranged weapons, you all have disadvantage. Or you all have a disadvantage. On just weapon attacks, you have disadvantage. Unless it's a ranged weapon. Ranged weapons don't because there's a projectile force throwing them. Except they can only go to that first distance. Anything beyond then just misses. If I read those rules rules wrong in the player's handbook because I read them last week and I don't remember. Never mind. That's my ruling right now.
[00:23:10] Speaker C: What about or.
Go ahead, Lando.
[00:23:15] Speaker A: Zach, I have a faint memory of transforming into a Bronze Dragon wormling because it has a swim speed. Did I switch out of that?
[00:23:22] Speaker C: That is true.
[00:23:23] Speaker B: You're a Bronze Dragon wormling. And I'm very wrong. That's what you are.
[00:23:27] Speaker C: Oh my God.
[00:23:28] Speaker B: Very correct.
[00:23:30] Speaker A: Okay, I just want to make sure I wasn't.
[00:23:31] Speaker B: Also, I have Abby's mass healing word card, her cleric card in my manual.
[00:23:37] Speaker C: Oh, no.
[00:23:37] Speaker E: Why?
[00:23:38] Speaker A: That means you can use it if.
[00:23:39] Speaker C: You want, but only on players.
[00:23:44] Speaker B: That's not. That's not. What is it?
Okay, great.
[00:23:49] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:23:49] Speaker B: Yeah. What's up? What's up?
[00:23:51] Speaker C: I was just gonna ask like for melee weapons, just for our melee characters. Does it change the hit on those or anything?
[00:24:00] Speaker B: No, no, that's the same. I mean your disadvantage, but your roll. The hit is the same and your damage is the same.
Okay, so you guys have landed behind that large stone. There's the wreckage around you, there are the cliff depths. And the last thing that happened is you guys had been exploring the space. Also, very importantly, you can see this whole map, but your characters can only see.
I think it was 60ft out because somebody's using their like 30ft bright, 30ft dim. So beyond 60ft in any direction is just darkness and a large shadow just by. In the darkness past. You all love. That is what last happened. Like kind of high up big like five, six, maybe seven, maybe eight. So people, perhaps nine.
[00:24:57] Speaker E: It's getting bigger.
[00:24:58] Speaker B: What's that party doing?
Keep asking. Bigger. Bigger.
[00:25:04] Speaker E: I think red is probably like.
[00:25:06] Speaker A: Forgive me. What is getting bigger and bigger is accurate. I missed the first part.
[00:25:08] Speaker C: What he said boss's heart, the shadow above us.
[00:25:14] Speaker B: That wasn't important. No.
[00:25:15] Speaker A: Oh, there's stuff coming down.
[00:25:17] Speaker B: No, no, dear goodness, no. What's the party doing?
Okay, okay. So bronze dragon Wyrmling. Boss, are you going to this part of the shipwreck or towards this one?
[00:25:31] Speaker A: Which part typically has captain's quarters? Would boss know that you would.
[00:25:35] Speaker B: You've been. You spent a lot of time on a ship. It would be this rear portion. Oh, also Landon, very important note. I said the thing about you in a shark form, bronze dragons do have swim speeds. So they do you. You just have your movement. Yeah. Because bronze. Bronze dragons are aquatic. Semi aquatic dragons.
[00:25:53] Speaker A: Four legged action.
[00:25:55] Speaker B: Yeah. So you're going for this shipwreck over here.
[00:25:58] Speaker A: Yes. And I have blind sight, dark vision.
I have. I can. I'm. I'm sure that I don't see well down here, but I.
[00:26:08] Speaker B: Well, you have blindside.
[00:26:10] Speaker A: So 10ft of blindside.
[00:26:12] Speaker B: Yeah.
So you guys are here. This shadow has moved by in the water around you. Everything is just a thick, heavy stifled silence in this deep sea water.
The water breathing spell has made it not only so that you can breathe in water, but so that you can survive. Survive the immense pressure. And you guys aren't like the brine in the water isn't like near poisonous to you, but you can definitely like there is a taste to breathing a Slightly salty taste. And you can. You feel a little heavy from the pressure of the water. You still have the sensation of this place. The silt is still slightly kicked up from where you all landed on this cliff face. And there's this large stone looming next to you, which is bright on the side that's picking up the light from Craig's sword. But huge shadows are being cast in every direction into more darkness. And dragon Boz draws. You turn around, and the back half of this. This ship must have had characteristics. It must have had qualities. It looks so nondescript. Now. It's just the shattered back half of the ship because the paint has been taken off by the depths. The ropes have rotted away. There is no evidence of a sail currently.
I think there were strips hanging off of the other one far away. But, like, it's. It's just. It's just cemented down here.
[00:27:31] Speaker A: What's in it made of?
[00:27:35] Speaker B: Give me a nature check. It's gonna be really hard, but not impossible for you.
[00:27:40] Speaker A: You see, I didn't. Real bad. Let's see what it got. Nature is, I think, plus nine. That is 27.
[00:27:47] Speaker B: Holy land. Living crap.
How did you guys get so stat crazy?
[00:27:54] Speaker A: I'm a druid from a tree place, Zach. This is the one thing that I'm good at.
[00:27:58] Speaker B: Okay, Landon, that was such a meaningful and valid clapback.
Like, I don't even mean that. Sassy. That's. What am I talking about? You're made partially out of tree, man.
[00:28:08] Speaker A: I'm half druid. Dryad.
[00:28:10] Speaker B: Yeah.
It appears to be a kind of just an oak. Now, you can't identify the oak, but the fact that you can't identify it tells you that it's from a hemisphere that you're not familiar with, right? Or from a continent or somewhere. So it is a far oak. You can tell from its qualities, but it was DC25 because it's so, like, hard to tell and smashed and old. I mean, this. It looks.
You can tell that not only is this wood degraded by the environment that it's in, but it's also just ancient down here. This ship crashed here a long time ago. There is no reef presence here. You're far too deep. But this thing is not void of life. As you walk up to it, small crustaceans very slowly begin moving out of your path. There are also some very alien creatures moving away from it. There are these tubes of gelatinous tissue that have kind of clear, wavy appendages that are, like, moving like slow feet plodding along away from them. They're kind of like this long. They're like squishy looking. There's clear floating. They look like suspended kind of organs in the center and little tendrils coming off of their head, crawling away from them. And one strange gangly fish just kind of like away from the structure. So some creatures are taking up residence here. But as you crawl into the smashed half, there are like broken bits of like kind of barrel chunks and there's like last little vestiges of kind of like almost fully unwound rope sort of like hanging off of the objects they were tied to. There's like what appears to be the remnants of a door, kind of like smashed and turned to a side, hanging off of one last completely rusted hinge. But any trace of like organic things, bodies, clothes, were they ever here? Seem long, long, long, long gone.
[00:30:02] Speaker A: So no captain's hat? No like tricorn, captain's hat.
[00:30:06] Speaker B: Give me an investigation. Check draws and remember to use. No, you're wild shaped. You can keep your mental excuse.
[00:30:13] Speaker A: I got 19, which is crazy because I have a plus one to investigation. So that was just luck.
[00:30:19] Speaker B: Episode 138 Boss's really good Day Boz. You do not find a captain's hat. Dang it. But you do find a captain's quarters.
And it's wild because you don't find find the captain's quarters on the upper deck where it should be. You find the caved in floor smashed through the bottom of the lower chamber. You're crawling through and it's a wild scene because you are thousands of feet below the sea, a bronze dragon wyrmling that's actually a bipedal person is crawling through the depths of a ruined ship and you find you like pieced. The 19 investigation is not locating it, it's just crawling backward. The 19 investigation is putting together. Oh, that's what this vague wreckage is. This is the the bottom half of another room smashed into the top half of the back half of a different room. And you're just finding like wood structures and implements that seem to like evoke the remnants of what this place once was. And also there are little pieces of reflective metal picking up glints from the light of star splinter Craig's sword some distance away. And you realize that they're smashed bits of a mirror, that there must have been a mirror in here at one time. Also with the 19 you find a lock embedded in wood that has a frame around it. And there's kind of the wreckage of a base nearby. And you realize that there was once a treasure chest here actually in this space.
But you don't find any evidence of any goods or bullion surrounding it. It appears to either have washed away or been picked through or something. It's just not here.
[00:32:08] Speaker A: Okay, now the last thing that I wanted to do, I want to make sure to say that I am trying to be respectful of the. The homes of the creatures that live here. Like, if there's like crustaceans or like, I'm like trying to like, take care of that. Am I completely like in the ship at this point? Like, am I not? No. Part of me is like extending out.
[00:32:26] Speaker B: Yes. Yeah, sorry. Boz is. I'm putting him up here like on deck. But Boss, this is just to represent what the marker is. Boss is inside the ship.
[00:32:34] Speaker A: All right, I stay there and I like kind of like pull myself back and huddle down and like, wait.
[00:32:41] Speaker B: The honestly kind of frightening image of a metallic dragon bundled up in a corner of the ship. The really crazy thing is that, Boss, you are. You are quite frankly approaching an archdruid. I mean, you all are becoming some of the world's most powerful casters and animals are just starting to have a reaction to you at this point. Not only because of the Druidic power you carry, but because of the deep magic alive in you. Just the things made of this world closer to their. To their bare forces are just attracted to that quality in you. So as Boz hunkers down there, all the creatures that fled away from him like a couple like Dungeness crabs start like kind of crawling up onto his metallic surface and some sort of like giant amoeba looking thing. Boss doesn't know what it's sea butterfly is, but like comes by and kind of like starts like latching onto his horns and gathering. It's like to someone less informed, druidically, they could be mistaken that like the. The reflection of Boz is attracting them. But they're Boss, you can feel them. It's. Oh, boss, roll me a D100.
And you're. You are.
[00:34:00] Speaker A: That is a 98 12.
[00:34:03] Speaker B: That's crazy. Yeah, Boss.
[00:34:06] Speaker A: Army's dice. Man, I. I like these dice. Now let's see what happens when I get in combat.
[00:34:10] Speaker B: But boss has the meats.
Give me an animal handling check. Except you have advantage.
[00:34:23] Speaker A: All right.
[00:34:24] Speaker B: And I'm like, I'm like.
[00:34:25] Speaker A: I am looking and studying the creatures that are around me for like deep sea under wildlife. Like also like playing like, oh, I could wild shape into that. Like, I wonder. That looks Cool. I could do that, too.
[00:34:34] Speaker B: Also, Boss is doing this for five minutes. So we're gonna come back to what everyone else is doing.
[00:34:38] Speaker A: 10. Animal handling, you said?
[00:34:41] Speaker B: Yes, sir.
[00:34:42] Speaker A: My highest role was a 10, but for animal handling. Oh, I have a plus 10 in that. That's an unnatural 20.
[00:34:49] Speaker B: This is episode 138. Boss is a really good day. Boz, y'all fight the thing. I'm just gonna see.
A lot of the animals are kind of coming by and inspecting you, but the crabs are honk, like, laying themselves, like, compacting themselves on you, retracting against you. And they're getting very still and pulling their appendages back into themselves, like, making themselves appear as small and stone, like, as they can.
They are seeking shelter with you, and they fled from you. Now they're seeking shelter with you. They do not perceive you as the largest predator here.
So that's what Boz has been doing for five minutes. What is everyone else.
[00:35:40] Speaker D: I would like to thank? Am I muted? No. Wait, no. Can y'all hear me? Okay. I didn't see the green rectangle. Weird.
But I'd like to think that Craig is in protective mode in some way. This is a very unfamiliar, very vulnerable spot. After seeing a shadow around us, it's just not looking good. I'm going to say that he has his javelins out as well as star splinter. Can you do that? Oh, I don't know.
[00:36:08] Speaker B: Yes. I mean, your. Your shield needs to be up, but you can have it. You can have star splinter in one hand, like, you can have star splinter in your left hand and, like, a javelin, like, in the throwing position, like being held down in your right. Yeah.
[00:36:19] Speaker D: Okay. He's prepared.
[00:36:23] Speaker B: As if this moment wasn't epic.
Craig.
Craig is a silly character, and we laugh at him. He's also a cool character. We acknowledge that he's permanently. He wears that full plate you guys have seen, and he has the weapons he has and the scars, and he's huge. He's a very intimidating figure at this point in his life. But right now, walking a cliff, ocean floor, beneath the waves, being, holding the weapon that is the source of light, the pale blue light for the environment around him that gleams and shines off of his armor, bearing the weapon as his. As the locks of his beard float in the water around him, and his, like, hair pulled back floats with him. Craig just looks really epic right now. Craig, as you're in this defensive mode, could you give me a perception check?
[00:37:10] Speaker D: Yeah, absolutely.
[00:37:12] Speaker B: What is. What are Ro and Greta up To And Tello, if you want to satisfy. Mechanically grabby.
[00:37:20] Speaker E: I'm probably hanging out with Craig. I feel like Greta knows that her swim speed is kind of low, so she's just trying to, like, stick with the. She's probably feeling a little volatile, more so than she normally does, so she's trying to stick with.
With Craig and just, like, prepare also.
[00:37:40] Speaker B: Craig, have you moved anywhere or have you remained in this position by the stone?
[00:37:44] Speaker D: If they move, he's moving with them. He is. His movement depends on the others around him. Boz ran off. He's not following in there. Respectfully.
[00:37:53] Speaker B: Okay, what'd you get on that perception check?
[00:37:57] Speaker D: So I have the cantrip. Tive guidance. Can I have that on myself? Can I? Okay, so guide yourself.
Okay, so after the rolls, it's 15 plus three. So that's 18.
[00:38:12] Speaker B: Okay.
All right, back to that.
It. Do you want to specify any actions Tell's taking or. He's just doing Tello things.
[00:38:29] Speaker E: He probably has his crossbow out.
[00:38:32] Speaker B: Okay. Tello's got a loaded crossbow. He's. I'm going to say that he's.
This is not the first time Tello has been here, proverbially speaking. He has not forgotten six months ago, his last experience near a shipwreck under an ocean on a cliff edge. And he's just going to back up into the edge of the ship right here, and he's just whispering like, you guys are doing great. And then he's just, like, hunkering down, aiming his crossbow at the darkness.
If you'd like him to, he can. Yes. Would you like him to?
Okay, roll a stealth check for Tello. Craig, you do not see anything.
[00:39:15] Speaker C: I roll.
[00:39:22] Speaker B: Raw.
[00:39:22] Speaker D: What are you doing wrong, Ro?
[00:39:24] Speaker C: I would like to swim up a little bit where that. Where the little. Where the little cliff is right there. How? We're kind of.
Yeah, girl.
[00:39:34] Speaker B: Use that environment. I love it.
[00:39:36] Speaker C: And I would like to do.
I guess just. I'm looking out for anything I see that's like.
Like, am I seeing, like, any, like, eyes or anything? Like, I'm scanning around.
[00:39:52] Speaker B: Give me a. Give me a perception check, bro. So Ro is lifted up onto this elevated surface here. She's fit. Well, actually, I don't need the marker. I have it written next to. She's 15ft up. She's swam up onto this top of this stone surface, and she's just kind of like poison.
[00:40:05] Speaker C: See anything?
[00:40:05] Speaker B: The crazy thing is you guys are only seeing one half of roe because the light is coming from Craig's sword. So the part of her that has passed. That light is just in darkness. And I'm gonna caution Ro verbally.
[00:40:18] Speaker D: I. I am like, ro, please be careful. Please. You do not know what's up there, and you have no light source. Please be careful.
Don't. Please don't go too far. If we. If you disappear, we will not know where you went.
[00:40:32] Speaker C: No, I'm. I'm just scanning to see if there's anything.
We saw something, so I'm trying to find what that something is. Craig, I got. Can I use my passive if it's better or.
[00:40:48] Speaker B: No, not for an active check.
[00:40:49] Speaker C: Okay, So I got a 17.
[00:40:52] Speaker B: Okay.
You do not see anything, bro. What did Tello get on his stealth? Abby?
[00:41:03] Speaker E: Oh, sorry. I did the math and forgot 30.
[00:41:09] Speaker C: 30.
[00:41:11] Speaker E: Yeah.
Yeah.
[00:41:15] Speaker B: Tello slips into the edge of the ship, and, Greta, at some point, you look back for him. Oh.
And you're, like, concerned he's gone.
As you're, like, looking around in the darkness, you just hear. Like, you don't see its location, but you hear from somewhere in the shipwreck telego. I'm here. And, Boz, you do not know where Tello is, except your blind sight can locate him. So you feel his presence, but you. And feeling his presence, you look over, and you're like, that son of a gun has bled into those shadows. He is. He is, like, perfectly positioned himself between some crates and some rigging. He's just invisible to the functional eye.
[00:41:57] Speaker C: I'm.
I'm gonna Craig back down.
[00:42:02] Speaker B: Well, Craig and Ro.
Yeah. No, yeah, I need you guys. There is an interesting thing going on with both of you, so I need both of you guys to roll me D20s, okay? And I want to know who gets.
[00:42:17] Speaker D: We get to add anything.
[00:42:19] Speaker B: No, it's just a D20.
This isn't a check.
[00:42:23] Speaker D: Definitely row.
I got a three, and I got seven.
[00:42:29] Speaker B: Okay.
All right, all right.
[00:42:37] Speaker C: Seven. Lucky initiative.
No, no, because that was just a D20 with nothing.
[00:42:45] Speaker D: No.
[00:42:45] Speaker C: Oh, no, no, no, no.
[00:42:48] Speaker B: What's your AC13.
[00:42:54] Speaker C: Need to boost that.
[00:42:55] Speaker D: So I cast magic circle everyone.
[00:42:58] Speaker B: Oh, well, here's what happens. First, you all are looking around these arguments. You don't see anything. Craig and Greta have that exchange.
Craig or Greta and Tello? Craig and Ro, you have your conversation. And Ro, as you're looking out into the darkness, you don't see a thing.
And Craig, as you're looking around concernedly, you go to say the next boarding thing you're gonna say to Ro. And from the darkness, a massive kind of dark green appendage just Just grabs Ro, and she just disappears. And I need everyone to follow me.
[00:43:36] Speaker C: Initiative grabs me.
[00:43:38] Speaker B: Ro disappears into darkness, and I need everyone to roll initiation. Initiative.
[00:43:42] Speaker C: Oh, bother.
Don't like that.
[00:43:50] Speaker D: We do this every time. What do you add to initiative?
[00:43:54] Speaker C: I was literally just googling that Dex baby decks.
[00:44:00] Speaker D: Okay.
[00:44:01] Speaker A: Oh, boss has to use his dragon. Does boss use dragon? Or his regular dexterity Zachary?
[00:44:10] Speaker C: Do I have plus zero?
[00:44:13] Speaker A: Yes. Everybody rolls initiative, Jackie.
[00:44:16] Speaker C: But I'm being taken.
[00:44:17] Speaker A: Hey, Jackie.
[00:44:18] Speaker B: You're kidding. The way initiative works is the way is everyone rolls it.
[00:44:24] Speaker A: Do I get a new initiative when I turn back into regular boss? Zach, since he's technically as a different.
[00:44:28] Speaker B: No, you re. You retain your initiative. Okay, so I got a third.
[00:44:33] Speaker A: Oh, can I use my. My. Can I use my per DM on this, Zach?
I have a plus zero. I have a plus.
[00:44:39] Speaker B: Everyone.
Everyone has their. Since everyone got here on time, everyone has their D4 Pure DMS to add to whatever the thing is they want.
[00:44:48] Speaker A: I got a. I got a 15. A plus two.
[00:44:50] Speaker B: Okay, so I'm sorry. Everyone's initiatives are.
[00:44:57] Speaker D: 17.
[00:44:59] Speaker B: Okay. Okay. Craig has 17.
[00:45:03] Speaker E: I got a seven.
[00:45:06] Speaker C: Okay, I also got a 17.
[00:45:13] Speaker B: Hello?
[00:45:14] Speaker E: Has 18.
[00:45:19] Speaker B: Okay, 19.
Yeah.
Okay. Let me write some things down, and then I'll do some describing.
Okay, so tell Ro your decks is higher than Craig's. Right?
[00:45:33] Speaker C: I have a plus one.
[00:45:37] Speaker D: I also have a plus one.
[00:45:39] Speaker B: I need you guys to roll these, okay?
[00:45:44] Speaker C: Just to roll again for that.
[00:45:47] Speaker B: For roll D20s to see who rolls higher.
[00:45:50] Speaker C: Oh, just roll D2s.
That was.
[00:45:54] Speaker D: Hey, guess what. It's Ro. It's a. It's. Yeah.
[00:45:58] Speaker C: I got a seven.
[00:46:00] Speaker D: I got a two.
[00:46:01] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:46:02] Speaker D: We're doing great.
[00:46:03] Speaker C: I'd rather Craig go by for me.
[00:46:06] Speaker D: Rolling high for what matters.
[00:46:09] Speaker C: Boss, what did you.
[00:46:11] Speaker D: I cast Magic Circle.
[00:46:12] Speaker A: I got a 15.
[00:46:13] Speaker B: So that'll happen when you get to your turn in Initiative.
Okay, so Ro has disappeared into the darkness. She is gone.
Ro, you feel something powerful and large wrap tightly around you, and you are just sucked away into black.
[00:46:35] Speaker C: Beautiful. Love that.
[00:46:36] Speaker B: For me, ripped away into black. Tello is at the top of initiative.
And actually, you know what? What is the range? 50.
Craig is the source of light, so actually.
[00:46:53] Speaker E: Oh, no.
[00:46:54] Speaker B: You all can see Ro. She's right here.
[00:46:57] Speaker C: Oh, well, at least you can see.
[00:46:59] Speaker B: Me floating up in the dark. And I need to put a marker down because it is 30ft.
[00:47:08] Speaker C: What is the ring around me?
[00:47:11] Speaker B: That's your grappled ring. Don't worry about that.
[00:47:13] Speaker C: Figured.
[00:47:14] Speaker B: Okay, you all can see the following creature if you Want to go to Lauren reference?
That's sad.
[00:47:26] Speaker E: No, I love.
[00:47:27] Speaker B: I love you all. See around you in the water a massive like 20 foot long bodied conical creature. It's like a yellow green bathed into a stranger darker color by the blue light of Craig's sword. Massive plate like eyes on either side. There are frills coming off of the edges of its body that pull away into kind of like like sort of like flexible spike like structures. And they're these long tentacles that bend away from it. Even barbed at their ends wrapped around a massive green squid. Is there this is anyone those proficient in rumors can make a rumors check if they want. Oh, because this is like a staler story kind of situation.
[00:48:09] Speaker C: Yeah, rumor.
[00:48:10] Speaker B: It's going to be a high D.C. but not that that matters to you guys.
[00:48:16] Speaker D: So I can't magic circle this.
[00:48:20] Speaker B: Well, when you get to your turning.
[00:48:21] Speaker C: Initiative you certainly can try 27.
[00:48:25] Speaker B: Yep, there it is.
And I think Greta was making a check. But I'm also willing to bet that Abby's muted or maybe still doing math.
Dirty 20.
You and Ro Ro you put together tentatively Greta in between terror and row as you are pulled to this thing, this creature as you are.
[00:48:50] Speaker C: That's what that is.
[00:48:51] Speaker B: The worst part is not only are the tentacles wrapped around you, you are surrounded by tentacles. You can barely see your allies as you're pulled toward a center.
[00:48:58] Speaker C: Fear unlocked.
[00:49:00] Speaker B: This is a mire squid. An ancient like a massive squid rumored to live in the sapphire desert deep below the ocean. That sort of like if you fall in way out there and you sink down, this creature will nab you and devour you. And they're said to be these horrible otherworldly pre predators.
So with that, Tello is at the top of the initiative. What is he doing?
[00:49:22] Speaker C: Do I know?
Bards.
[00:49:26] Speaker B: They are specifically one, two eyed, all swimming. No two eyed, many tentacled, swimming green bard eaters. I was trying to work. One eyed, one horn flying purple people.
[00:49:38] Speaker C: Yeah, I knew where you were going.
Yeah, I could feel it.
[00:49:43] Speaker B: What is. What is Teller done interler.
[00:49:47] Speaker E: See this big creature?
[00:49:50] Speaker B: Yeah. It's bathed in the light of Craig's sword. Basically everyone can see 60ft in any direction from Craig. 30ft bright, 30ft dim.
[00:49:58] Speaker E: I'm. I can't. I'm having trouble seeing the map. Can you help me count how far.
[00:50:02] Speaker B: Have you clicked on it to enlarge it?
[00:50:04] Speaker E: I have. I. Yes.
[00:50:07] Speaker B: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40. Currently I know the hexes are different than the squares.
Same concept of five feet. So he's 40ft away.
[00:50:22] Speaker E: Oh, that's good. Is she. No one.
[00:50:28] Speaker B: Yes. Yeah, they are different characters.
[00:50:34] Speaker E: What's the range on a cross range as.
[00:50:45] Speaker B: Abby's bearing fangs about that time.
[00:50:55] Speaker E: Okay, so you said about 60ft?
[00:50:57] Speaker B: 40. Yes.
[00:50:59] Speaker E: Awesome. Even better.
Fellow's gonna. He's gonna dart out of the shadow.
Oh, my goodness. Big squid. Oh, my goodness. Big squid.
And then he's going to shoot with a short bow.
[00:51:21] Speaker B: Short bow. Why do we always flavor it as a crossbow?
[00:51:24] Speaker C: I don't know.
[00:51:25] Speaker E: I.
[00:51:25] Speaker A: It's a crossbow.
[00:51:26] Speaker B: It's a.
[00:51:28] Speaker A: We always call it a crossbow is what it is.
I thought it goes back and forth, I guess now, depending on how he feels, the crossbow or short.
[00:51:40] Speaker B: Okay, sure.
Well, it can be the mechanics of a short bow with the flavoring of a crossbow. I'm fine with that. I don't care.
I mean, a crossbow does more damage, but a short bow is what you have written down.
So roll to hit for me. Remember, you have advantage because of sneak attack because you were hidden.
Thank you, Time Bohemian.
Give me a B back brognads. And for those people who are waiting, go ahead and start thinking through your turns.
Yes, Micah, I can. That is a really good idea. Oh, you're so smart.
[00:52:22] Speaker D: Nickel Initiative in the chat. Can I get an initiative in the chat, bro?
She got it.
[00:52:33] Speaker E: What do I add to?
Well, this is bad.
Is it death? Did I add.
[00:52:45] Speaker B: To. Yes. So you have a roll to hit on your sheet.
[00:52:49] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:52:50] Speaker B: And.
Okay, does anyone want to explain weapon attacks to Abby real quick?
[00:53:01] Speaker E: Oh, yeah, sorry.
It's a 14.
[00:53:07] Speaker B: Okay, I'll resume typing Initiative in just a second. Micah. So you're chilling. Tello leans out from the dark and fires the bolt. And it shoots straight at the creature. But, like, right when it gets to it, it just arcs off in a different direction. Like he shot clear at it. But. Thank you, Landon.
But it just veers off as if the disruption of the water kind of like misguided itself its path. Thank you, Lando. That was super helpful.
And so he misses. Is he doing anything else with his turn, he's gonna.
[00:53:46] Speaker E: Bonus action. Hide again.
[00:53:48] Speaker B: Okay, he's right back to where he is.
Next up in the Initiative is Row. Bless you, Hop. That's okay, Ro. What are you doing?
[00:53:57] Speaker C: What? Okay, my question is, is I don't know what I can do when I'm grappled.
[00:54:04] Speaker B: Grappled. I.
[00:54:05] Speaker C: Girl, I read it. But I'm a little confused.
So I know my speed becomes zero.
It says the condition also ends if the effect removes the grappled creature from the reach. So can I not do anything? Like, can I not cast or use anything since I am grappled or.
[00:54:26] Speaker B: No, you still have all your actions. You just have a speed of zero. That's it. You have a speed of zero.
[00:54:29] Speaker C: I just can't. I can't move away from where I'm.
[00:54:32] Speaker B: Yeah, you have a speed of zero.
[00:54:33] Speaker C: Okay.
[00:54:34] Speaker B: You can still take all your actions.
[00:54:35] Speaker C: Okay, then I'm going to.
I'm like.
And I'm gonna take Song Splitter and I am just going to use it as a H.
And I'm just gonna. And I'm gonna wave it around.
I'm gonna use it as a hand axe, and I'm just gonna hit as far as. You're gonna hit it with a hand? Yeah, I'm sorry. My brain was working out.
[00:55:10] Speaker B: Go roll the hit, man. Roll a hit.
Next up, this is. So this is Ro. Right now on deck is Craig. And up after that is bozz.
[00:55:22] Speaker C: That's 15.
[00:55:24] Speaker B: Okay, 15 will hit row.
So how much damage do you do?
In fact, it just hits five slashing. Okay, five slashing. Could you describe the damage that you deal to this giant entity that has you within its coiled tentacles?
[00:55:42] Speaker C: Yeah, just the tentacle that's, like, wrapped around her. She's basically going to like, like, wiggle out her. Her. Her loot and just like, like, with all of her force, like, just swing down right in front of her and like, grit her teeth while she does it. And I want to say. Can I say, because as a bonus action, I. I want to give Bardic inspiration. So can I say. Can I add flavor? Because I know when the. When the.
When the. When song Splitter returns, it kind of makes like a high pitch whistling. So can I say that I hit down so hard that it, like, rings out. Like, you can hear, like, the reverberance of, like, through the water.
[00:56:37] Speaker B: You can. You can strum the chord. Chords as you grab. Like, you can, like, strike chords. And then as you. As you strike it, you can, like, make a. Okay, it can, like, ring out like that.
[00:56:45] Speaker C: Yeah, I do that. And like the reverberation, like this metal distortion sound just like, through the water.
Who's Jackie?
[00:56:55] Speaker B: That's so cool.
[00:56:56] Speaker C: Thank you. Who's close?
[00:56:57] Speaker B: That's sick.
[00:56:58] Speaker C: Who's blue?
[00:57:00] Speaker B: That's correct.
[00:57:01] Speaker C: She's gonna give that. That's. That reverberation gonna, like, hit Craig, basically, and he's gonna be bartically inspired, which is a D10.
[00:57:12] Speaker B: Question mark. Yes. Craig, you have a D10. To add to an ability check or attack of your choice or attack roll of your choice. What? You have a D10. You have. You are bartically inspired. So what that means is that you have a D10 to add to an ability roll or ability check or attack roll of your choice. So Ro, you like shimmy that arm out. There's just like this mass of like tentacles moving around you. You're starting to lose sight of your friends as you're like. It's drawing you toward itself, like swallowing up into this world of tentacles. And as you like.
That's right, you've been working out. As you get one arm free, you do that little whistle. And where. Where Song splitter is restrained around your back where your hand is held, it just.
[00:57:55] Speaker C: Oh, that's so cool.
[00:57:57] Speaker B: Meets your hand and then you bring it down.
And as you bring it down, your fingers strum and it's just.
And it cuts the. The flesh. And as it. As it slashes through the the flesh, this dark blue like blood gushes out. And the blood you. You watch the shockwave of sound coming from your axe move disrupt the blood. Like distorts it in the waves. And Craig has that waves across you. The inspiration you feel is the assurance that Ro might be one of the more vulnerable around you. But she's a fun guy. She has slain Kefkin generals. She pertains the deep magic. She is holder of the old song and bard of the ages. And she can take care of herself. And you're feeling that power is what inspires you. That's a sick turn row. Craig, your next episode initiative.
[00:58:50] Speaker D: Okay, pause.
[00:58:50] Speaker B: You're on deck.
[00:58:52] Speaker D: Okay, so I am trying to find the pain for monster for monster long sword. But that's not ranged, is it?
That has to be melee up close.
[00:59:04] Speaker B: For which. What are you asking? I don't know what weapon monster long sword is, Minister.
[00:59:10] Speaker D: Shoot.
That could be it. It was what we found in the depths of the temple. Maybe I wrote it down wrong. Yeah, that is ministry.
[00:59:19] Speaker B: Maybe you.
[00:59:20] Speaker D: Okay, you were probably talking about monsters and I wrote it down.
[00:59:24] Speaker B: Star Splinter is your most powerful ranged weapon. Your sword.
You can use multi attack with your slashes. But remember, you also have that ranged attack with it where you can forgot that it just shoot the pieces at a creature. Creature. Yeah. You can do that.
[00:59:40] Speaker D: I forgot I could do that. Okay, forget javelins. What the heck?
[00:59:45] Speaker B: You honestly don't even need javelins anymore because your sword is so incredible. But I mean, you know, no pressure.
[00:59:50] Speaker D: Why do I have. Okay, anyways, I'll just hand them down to Nam, I guess.
[00:59:55] Speaker E: Oh.
[00:59:56] Speaker B: Like, they're like light poles to her.
[01:00:02] Speaker D: Oh, okay. So I'm looking at my amazing list of things that I have, and it sucks that I'm third because I'm between two options.
[01:00:11] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:00:12] Speaker D: I think I might cast Draining Smite.
[01:00:17] Speaker B: Oh, girl. Do it.
Yeah.
So now I would like to remind you, Draining Smite removes spell slots from a creature, and you're willing to bet that the giant squid cannot cast spells. That is an awesome spell.
[01:00:32] Speaker D: Oh, shoot, you're right.
[01:00:34] Speaker B: But another smite spell might be more advantageous.
[01:00:41] Speaker D: Okay.
[01:00:46] Speaker B: Micah, I was trying to help you by looking up the stats for Star Splinter, and I just. I opened up Song Splitter and I was like, reading it. I was like, what? That is not even help with this thing. It's like, have I forgotten everything about music?
What?
[01:01:00] Speaker D: Well, I already. This is already a magic item.
[01:01:06] Speaker B: It is.
[01:01:07] Speaker D: So it's like a. It's already a magic weapon.
[01:01:10] Speaker B: Yeah. Magic weapon's probably not gonna do it now. You have other spots, I think maybe I. And also, remember, as a bonus action, you can just pump Divine smites into things.
[01:01:21] Speaker D: Okay, I think I'm just gonna do that. Yeah.
[01:01:24] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:01:25] Speaker D: I. Yeah, so I think I'm just gonna do that. I'm just gonna use Star Splinter as a. As a ranged weapon. I need to remember the range of Star Splinter, cuz I don't have that written down on my character sheet, but I know that it's in a document in my chat.
[01:01:43] Speaker B: Yes, yes, absolutely. And I'll read it to you right now. Okay, so when you use this ranged attack, you forfeit the two attacks. You're getting one attack, but this thing is really far away. So with this. With this attack, this creature makes a dexterity save instead of you rolling to hit. So it's save rather than your hit, but the. The save. What is your paladin spell save DC right now, Mickle.
[01:02:11] Speaker D: My spell save DC is 15.
[01:02:14] Speaker B: Okay. Yeah, 15 is what it is. I had 14 on your sheet, but it. It raises with your spell save DC. So 15 is the DC this thing has to beat.
And it's going to take 6D6 slashing, plus 2D6 radiant. And the really crazy thing is, if this hits, you can also pump Divine Smites into it.
Also remember, I. I'm sorry, I read this wrong. Divine Smites aren't a bonus action. You could just do it. So you can. You can put in as many Divine smites as you have spell slots. So you can just spend spell slots on your Divine Smites. And your divine smites are two D8 for first level slot and another D8 for every slot after first level.
So what's your highest level spell slot right now? Third, third, or fourth level?
[01:03:09] Speaker D: Let me check my chat or my Google Doc. I'm pretty sure it's three. I don't have any fourth level.
[01:03:17] Speaker B: Okay, so third level, and actually at 11th level, you get improved divine smite. So actually at first level, you get three D8. So if you use one, a first level spell, you get an extra three D8 damage, and every level above first is another D8. So Micah 2, to be clear. Oh, my gosh.
I know there's a lot going on here.
[01:03:40] Speaker D: Would that be 5D8 for just first level for improved 3D8.
[01:03:45] Speaker A: 3D8.
[01:03:46] Speaker B: 3D8.
[01:03:47] Speaker D: Okay, so would it be 3? Okay. Okay, gotcha, gotcha.
[01:03:50] Speaker B: Every level after first is. Is another one. So if you used a third level slot, it would be 68. So when your sword does the many bits flying out, it's 8d6 damage, the same as a fireball, which is crazy. And if you pump in Divine Smites, that's more damage.
Okay. Anyway, sorry, I thought of something for a moment and we'll come back to it and we'll talk about this. A break. Okay, so you want to use the range thing, right?
[01:04:28] Speaker D: Yes. Here's my question.
What's the ranged option? Is it even going to, like. Is it within the even 40ft long?
[01:04:37] Speaker B: 40Ft long. It's in the document. You have 40ft.
[01:04:40] Speaker D: Okay.
[01:04:41] Speaker B: And it is 5, 10, 15ft away from you.
[01:04:44] Speaker D: Okay, we're okay. We're good. That's good.
[01:04:46] Speaker B: You're very range.
[01:04:47] Speaker D: Yeah, I do it. I do it. I. Can I describe it a little bit?
[01:04:51] Speaker B: Yes, please do. Well, I have to see whether or not I succeed. Yeah, yeah.
So the DC is 15, right?
[01:05:00] Speaker D: Yes.
[01:05:01] Speaker B: Okay. The creature gets 14.
[01:05:08] Speaker D: Oh, my gosh.
Oh, my gosh.
[01:05:12] Speaker B: Describe just. Well, do you want to roll your dice or do you want to give your description?
[01:05:17] Speaker D: I'm gonna give my description first and then roll my dice.
[01:05:21] Speaker B: Describe to me what it looks like as you just chainsaw this thing with the chunks of your sword.
[01:05:25] Speaker D: So I think that Craig's still, like, he's not a dwarf. I mean, that's not what I meant to say. He is. He's not a barbarian anymore, but that instinctual rage of feeling is still there. So as he's watching Rogue be, like, gripped and like, you know, and she. She did a great job handling.
[01:05:46] Speaker B: You're Losing sight of Ro in the tentacle.
[01:05:49] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah. So he's getting so over, like, protective, and just this. This, like, natural instinct comes over him, and he starts, like, shaking. He's not raging, but that natural instinct is still there of, like, what he's used to. And then he starts to grip Star Splinter even, like, harder and harder and harder until there's, like. Like, a crack in between each particle. And, like, each piece of this. The sword starts to crack in response, and he, like, it, like, shoots out towards.
[01:06:22] Speaker E: The.
[01:06:23] Speaker D: The mouse. He's an. Is he an oct. Squid? He's a squid, right?
[01:06:27] Speaker B: Yeah. It's a giant green squid. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's sick. Micah, go ahead and roll your damage. So. Oh, and also. Also, how many spell slots are you using in the Divine Smite? If you're using.
[01:06:38] Speaker D: I'm doing three. I'm doing a third level.
[01:06:41] Speaker B: Okay, so, Micah, you're rolling 68 plus 8D6. That's crazy. It's crazy.
[01:06:51] Speaker D: So I'm going to. This is going to take a second if you guys want to chat amongst yourselves.
[01:06:56] Speaker B: Well, what you can do is, Micah, you focus on rolling your dice, and I'm going to give more description, I'm giving you more flavor, but just start rolling your dice.
So building on what Micah said, Ro, as. As Ro is disappearing into the tent, tentacles. And Greta, you're, like, reacting. You've watched Tello's bolt. Ms. Craig, like, strides forward powerfully. And as he pounds his, like, armored foot down the silt just up around him, he points his sword up at the creature. And as he squeezes it in, the metal grinds those fractures, those, like, kitsungi, like. Like Lapis lazuli, reforged pieces of his platinum blame. They start glowing, and the sword is shaking in his hand until they're, like.
They just fire away. And when they do, there's this, like, sound, like metal shattering at, like, a really high tense, tensile tense tension. And as the many pieces just fly away like. Like. Like brilliant platinum darts, you watch as they just slice into the creature.
The creature just takes, like, the blade breaks up into, like, 20, 30 pieces, and the creature is just shredded all around it. And there's no sound. It just, like, recoils backward in the water, and these really large jets open up out the side of its body and, like, push a little water back as it instinctively moves, like, a foot backward, pushing. Excuse me, pushing away from this damage. And the water around it is now filling with thick purple blood from many different wounds. And after all, the sword Pieces fly past the creature. Craig just lit, like, brings the blade back, and they all just, like, turn back into the blade at his side that shines with brilliant light.
And the crazy thing was, when he fired him away, it looked like he was firing a firework out of his hand because all the light went right with it and then came back when he pulled the sword back. What'd you get for damage, Craig?
[01:08:49] Speaker D: Okay, so for damage, I don't add anything to damage, right?
[01:08:53] Speaker B: Not as we have it right now. It's just the damage. You fold.
[01:08:57] Speaker D: Okay, 44.
[01:08:59] Speaker B: You have a plus one sword. Holy crap.
[01:09:02] Speaker D: So 40. 45. But I can also add 10. I can also add 10 to that.
[01:09:09] Speaker B: Why can you add 10 to that?
[01:09:11] Speaker D: Because of what Ro did. Right.
[01:09:13] Speaker B: Roe gave you, or is that attack you can add on to attack rolls or ability?
[01:09:18] Speaker D: Why did I think, okay, sorry, I wrote and then read it wrong.
[01:09:24] Speaker B: 145 points of damage on one attack. Holy crap. As all of the blade pieces come back together in the sword, the squid is starting to look fairly significantly damaged. Like, it looks like it took a lot of damage there.
It's covered in small gashes and bleeding profusely.
And Ro, after the squid is struck like that, you feel you are moved further away from the center of it as it's, like, recoiling. But the grip around you also tightens instinctually. Next up in Initiative is Boz. And then.
Yeah, yeah, it's Boz next. Yes. Yeah.
[01:09:59] Speaker A: What exits from the ship do I have right now, Zachary? Like, is there a hole above?
[01:10:04] Speaker B: Everything in front of you is an exit. There's not a lot of you. You'd have to really go crawling through, but there's.
[01:10:10] Speaker A: Is there anything above me?
[01:10:13] Speaker B: It's all wreckage through there. So you could certainly try. You could have a shorter path, but you need to use an athletics check to push your way through it. So it. It's. It's. It's a toss up.
[01:10:24] Speaker A: All right, now just one more clarifying question. Do I only have exits into the front of me on one. One side of the rock, or would I be able to get through the other side?
[01:10:33] Speaker B: You could. You're not a small creature right now.
[01:10:37] Speaker A: No, I'm not.
[01:10:37] Speaker B: You could try to.
You're a large creature, but you're an agile large creature. So if you wanted to make an acrobatics check, you could try to slip.
[01:10:46] Speaker A: Through and how much distance is there? I'm trying to see. I can't hardly.
[01:10:51] Speaker B: There is no. It's okay. It's okay. 5, 10, 15. 20, 25, 30, 35, 40. But it's also 30ft up. So Pythagoreanly, that's what it's.
[01:11:08] Speaker A: Okay, I. I was trying to understand. That's really helpful for me. If I do a lightning breath, would I be able to target it without hitting row? It's a 40 foot line that's five feet wide.
[01:11:20] Speaker B: You. Yes, yes. For sure, for sure, for sure, for sure.
[01:11:24] Speaker A: If I try to hit multiple tentacles, would it take that damage on tentacles or would it only be like one time?
[01:11:31] Speaker B: It's just going to take the damage, especially because it's electrical current. All right, cool.
[01:11:37] Speaker A: Last question. If I like burst out of this bad boy and like lightning breath it, is it going to have any type of like disadvantage on the saving throw of like an expectation? Expectations or any bonuses to my ability check or. No?
[01:11:49] Speaker B: Well, if you guys will remember, forever ago in our homebrews Rules channel, we had a discussion about different types of damage in different environments.
And one of the. Oh my goodness, I'm gonna have to scroll. I was thinking about this as you were saying this.
One of the discussions we were having was because this creature is in water, it's gonna take an extra D6 of lightning damage if you. If it fails. Okay.
[01:12:26] Speaker A: Or half, I guess, on even if honestly. Okay.
[01:12:29] Speaker B: So that's actually, I'm gonna make an additional call. This is salt water. Salt water is famously more conductive than fresh water because salts are conductive to electricity. So I'm going to say it takes lightning takes an additional. So it's two D6 in salt water, an extra D6 in fresh water.
[01:12:47] Speaker A: Nice. All right, I'm going to burst out of this bad boy and give an underwater roar. And then I'm going to like spray it with this lightning energy as I like move as close towards it as I can.
And so it's going to make a Dex dexterity saving throw.
[01:13:05] Speaker B: A dexterity saving throw. Got it.
[01:13:07] Speaker A: DC12.
[01:13:09] Speaker B: DC12.
Its bonus isn't bad, but I rolled an 8, it got an 11. It failed by one again.
[01:13:21] Speaker D: My God.
[01:13:21] Speaker A: Oh my gosh.
[01:13:22] Speaker B: That's crazy. I'm so boss. I'm sorry, you said you crawl out of the front of the ship?
[01:13:27] Speaker A: Yeah, I, I like spring out of this thing hardcore.
[01:13:30] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:13:30] Speaker A: And I just.
[01:13:31] Speaker B: How far do you get? And do you swim up or down at all?
[01:13:34] Speaker A: I try to get as close as I can to it.
So I don't know how that looks if I need to go over my friends and then to it. That makes sense.
[01:13:42] Speaker B: What's your what's your swim speed? 30. 30ft. You can get out to here? No, to here. But you could also swim up if you wanted.
[01:13:51] Speaker A: Yeah, that.
[01:13:51] Speaker D: May.
[01:13:51] Speaker A: I like that too. I like swimming up.
[01:13:53] Speaker B: You could go.
It's a three dimensional space. So once you've gone out.
[01:14:00] Speaker A: Yeah, never mind. Sorry, never mind. I don't know what I was thinking of once I go out. Let's keep talking.
[01:14:04] Speaker B: Well, it's 10ft to get out of the front of the ship. But then that last 20ft is three dimensional space. So going, going. That last 20 up or forward is the same movement for you since you. Okay, cool.
I mean, well, 5 less because. No, no, because you have a swim speed. Yes. So. Yeah, so 20. 20 up. Do you want to be 20ft up in the. Up in the water?
[01:14:23] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah, I want to be looking at it in the. And it's big old fat.
[01:14:26] Speaker B: It is only slightly above you now.
[01:14:31] Speaker A: So I should actually fail my save.
[01:14:34] Speaker B: Oh, cool. Yes.
[01:14:35] Speaker A: 3D 10. That is.
That's a D 100. That's not. Well, I guess that's.
Sorry, that is 2. 7, 9. 14. And then 2D 6 you said.
[01:14:55] Speaker B: Yes, that's a 6.
[01:14:57] Speaker A: That's 20.
That's another 6. That's 26.
[01:15:01] Speaker B: 26 points of lightning damage.
[01:15:04] Speaker A: 26 points of lightning damage.
[01:15:06] Speaker B: Come on now, Boz or Draz Drazen. Describe what it looks like as you fire lightning from your throat as a dragon. That's. That's so metal. Oh, I love dnd.
[01:15:21] Speaker A: I feel like it's not like this like massive energy. And it's very narrow. It's not a very wide bolt like something breathing fire. It's just like a very instantaneous. Like there's like a glow of blue in this gold dragon's eyes. And like this like. Like it's there and then it's gone. And then it just spreads across the top of the squid's body.
[01:15:41] Speaker B: That's sick, Lando. So this bronze dragon, wyrmling explodes from the front of the ship, flies up into the water. And as you raise yourself up in the water, crabs are just falling off of you, swimming away. And Boz, as you lift your wings up, they make this silhouette and there's this blue charge in your eyes. Eyes. Before it's just this one sound in the water and it's like there's a click of a spark of electricity in your mouth. A spark at the edge of a creature. And then the line just connects itself between you guys. And when it does, for an instant, all of the Bronze on Boz dragon's body is just, like, illuminated with light. And then it's back to that, like, reflecting Craig's sword. And the spark connects with the creature, just shocks across it in an instant, and the whole creature twitches and slows significantly. This creature is looking kind of. It's looking and behaving kind of bloodied.
Now it's the meer squid's turn.
So it is gonna do a lot of stuff. The first thing it's gonna do is a reaction.
It's gonna use inky escape.
So after that, lightning strikes it. And after the sword attack, all of a sudden those jets kind of open up again on the side. Well, that's actually not the same structure, but from underneath it, there's just this.
This big, dark, inky mass just sprays forward. And the squid disappears from where you can immediately see it.
And it is going to move 30ft.
[01:17:21] Speaker C: Straight back with me with it.
It's taking me. It's taking me away. Take me away.
[01:17:33] Speaker B: And Ro disappears with it.
[01:17:36] Speaker C: No, don't take me away.
[01:17:41] Speaker B: You guys, for a moment. Don't see where it is. We'll need perception checks when we get to that.
And Ro, since you are in the inky mask when it jettisons, I need you to give me a con saving throw.
And actually, you know what? I'm gonna do the things I just did in a different order. Excuse me. Forgive me. It doesn't lead with the. With the ink, but I already moved it, so I'm just gonna leave it there. That's where it's going. What it's actually gonna do before it does that is it was still in range of Greta and Craig. So it's gonna do those two things first. First, I'm gonna take tentacle attacks on both of you guys. Then I'm gonna jettison away.
The first one is Greta. The second one is Craig. Craig, I have a 14 on you. I'm sure that Mrs.
[01:18:25] Speaker D: Yes, it does.
[01:18:27] Speaker B: Boy. So, Craig, what does it look like as one of the tentacles fails to grab you?
[01:18:33] Speaker D: I'm gonna say I use star splinter to, like, block it it and then move out of the way in the water.
[01:18:40] Speaker B: So as your blade slashes at it, you just deflect the tentacle and flick to the side. It doesn't get you. But another tentacle darts out. And, Greta, there's a 29 to hit you. So the tentacle just grabs you and pulls you away.
So, Greta, actually, then it doesn't think he's getting.
So Greta goes with it.
[01:19:02] Speaker C: Now Greta's over here grabbing Greta. You weren't supposed to come with me.
[01:19:07] Speaker E: Sorry.
[01:19:10] Speaker B: And that means that when it does the inky escape, you guys are both in it. So I need a constitution save from you as well. Abby, what did you get on yours?
[01:19:17] Speaker C: 15.
[01:19:19] Speaker E: Okay, I'm gonna use my.
[01:19:26] Speaker B: Okay. Follow your dreams. Let me know when you have your roll.
[01:19:32] Speaker D: Gonna cast magic circle.
[01:19:36] Speaker B: You can on your turn.
[01:19:41] Speaker E: It's an 11.
[01:19:42] Speaker D: Oh, wait. How high up. How high up is boss?
[01:19:44] Speaker B: 30Ft up. Oh, boss is 20ft up.
[01:19:47] Speaker D: Oh, okay. That works.
[01:19:50] Speaker B: Okay, so, Row, you and Greta are both blinded as the ink inky mass is like, part of this pulled with you. Rude.
But, Rogue, you are not poisoned by breathing in the ink. Since you are breathing the water, Greta, you are. You have the poisoned condition. You now have disadvantage on all ability checks and saving throws as well. Question mark. Is it? What is it? Hold on.
Disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks, not saving throws. I was wrong. And you can repeat that saving throw on your turn, Greta, which is up next. So you can. You can try again in a second. So that was its reaction, and it took its two tentacle attacks.
It's going to. It made two, and it can do four. But it can also sacrifice two of them for a beak attack.
So that's what it's gonna do. Yeah, squids have beaks.
Or many. Many cephalopods do. And it's gonna use that.
The RO1 who's been in its tentacles longest. As you pulled back into the darkness, Ro, you can't see anything, but you feel yourself pulled more toward the center. And there's like, this moment where the crushing tension relieves a little, and then this hardened, like, dull beak. These two points just crunch down on your legs. Well, let's see if it does.
Yeah, it's a 27 to hit.
[01:21:20] Speaker C: No, my AC is 28. I don't know what you're talking about.
[01:21:23] Speaker B: Oh, okay. And so, Row, you are gonna take. Oyamo, you're gonna take.
Oh, shoot. Nope, those are the wrong dice. Oh, Spaghetti Hill, Rosentron, Trouble.
Okay, we're at six.
Wow. I rolled almost as low as I could have. Like, seriously? Bless.
[01:21:49] Speaker A: It's always row. Row always gets this.
[01:21:54] Speaker B: You only take 18 points of damage.
[01:21:57] Speaker C: That's not.
That's pretty good piercing.
[01:22:01] Speaker B: Yeah. You took 18 on what was 4D 12 plus 6.
What?
That's a big thing. Oh, my God.
[01:22:11] Speaker C: Okay.
Thank you, saloon.
[01:22:15] Speaker B: You came out of that solo.
I think it's all out of action economy. So now.
Now it's Greta's turn. Greta, your blind grappled and poisoned.
And also, Greta, just a quick recap. You were looking around in the darkness and Craig was like, ro, be careful. And Ro was like, I'm good.
And then you were pulled away into the darkness. That's. That's what's happened so far for you.
And Greta's now up at the. Up on deck will be Tello next.
[01:22:52] Speaker E: I am freaking out. I'm gonna cast or I'm gonna try and cast the stow curse on this creature.
So you have to make a wisdom saving against me.
[01:23:19] Speaker A: What's cool is you don't have to see it. All you have to do is touch something.
[01:23:22] Speaker B: So that's safe.
[01:23:23] Speaker E: No, literally. Well, and I added this to my thing and I was like, well, I'm trying to be a lot more of a. Like a ranged person. I'm not trying to be so inflict woundsy, but I added it just in case and I'm really glad that I did.
[01:23:38] Speaker B: That was awesome. Also, Abby, that's the second time I've ever seen someone cast that spell. So way to lean into something dope. I got a nat one. So I fail.
Can you describe what's looks like as you bestow your curse and then let me know what effect you utilize?
[01:23:52] Speaker E: I'm going to use the. The when first the target must make a wisdom saving throw at the start of each turn. If it fails, it waste that.
[01:24:01] Speaker B: Actually, the. The. What is it? Okay, I'll.
[01:24:08] Speaker A: That was the best one, Abby. That was the best one.
[01:24:10] Speaker B: Describe it for me.
[01:24:16] Speaker E: I think she's. She's gonna like, grapple, right? She's just gonna hint in much, but she's gonna dig her fingernails into the, like the hide of the thing. Just like imagine like her fingernails dark.
[01:24:34] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah.
[01:24:35] Speaker E: Blackness, like, seeps out of her fingernails over the squid.
[01:24:40] Speaker B: That's sick, Greta. Inside of its tentrils. As you, like, reach your fingers into it, you squeeze it. And as you whisper, I mean, nobody can see. But the little. The. Your. Your golden symbol of Ceylon around your neck lights up. And when your finger squeezes, literal ink pours out of your fingernails into.
Into it after it inks you. And what no one can see is that the ink spells curses all over its tendril. Like for a moment, five feet of its body get covered in text, cursing it. And after it resolves, the creature like, shudders a little bit and like flails in the water. It's looking like it's having a hard time. It's awesome.
Yeah, that's that's dope sick. Turn, Abby. That was such a good choice. Tello is up, and Roe is on deck.
Craig.
I've gotten a lot better at initial, y'all.
[01:25:38] Speaker E: Yay.
[01:25:40] Speaker B: Weird question, weird answer.
[01:25:43] Speaker E: Can see any creatures surrounding this?
Like, can he see anything other than this?
[01:25:56] Speaker B: Can he see any other animals in the the area? Any other beasts? Yeah, he can. Yeah, there's, there's still a lot of, like, crustaceans and cephalopodic creatures in the wreckage of the ship, kind of like cowering and still.
[01:26:27] Speaker E: How far away is this it now?
[01:26:32] Speaker B: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75ft away from Tello.
[01:26:45] Speaker E: Okay, awesome.
He's deep. He's just going to pop out, try again with his short bow. I think he's frustrated that it didn't land last time, and he really wants.
[01:26:57] Speaker B: A flavored short bow. Excellent.
Roll the hit and you have an advantage.
[01:27:04] Speaker E: Yes.
[01:27:06] Speaker B: Because you were hidden.
Oh, actually, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Before you do, before you do, before you do, perception check to, to see it, to figure out where it is, because there's an ink cloud obscuring this space.
[01:27:21] Speaker E: Should I. Okay, I already rolled.
I got a Nat 20. Should I.
[01:27:27] Speaker B: Well, if your perception checks, you can use it.
[01:27:33] Speaker E: That's a 19.
[01:27:36] Speaker B: Okay. You. Do I need to roll stealth for it?
He does. He, he understands its location. So you got a crypto.
[01:27:54] Speaker E: We do double dice or double damage?
[01:27:58] Speaker B: Double dice. Well, I, I, I, Excuse me. I let people choose at our table. You can double your damage or you can double your dice. I don't care. Whatever is more fun to you.
He is a rogue, and he has a crossbow flavored short bow that is, it's 66 for sneak attack at 12th level. Plus a D6 from his short bow is 7 D6.
So 7 D6 plus his decks. Now, you can either roll 14 D6 plus his decks or you can roll 76 plus his decks and then double.
[01:28:31] Speaker E: I'm gonna do 14 D6es.
[01:28:36] Speaker B: Abby's gonna roll 14 D6.
So Tello. Tello narrows his eyes on the position, seeing. I mean, he, he loves all of you, but he and Greta are besties. That's not a secret. And so as his bestie is torn away into the darkness, that Tello's a nervous combatant. He doesn't love battle, but he, like, darts out of of the ship and he just whispers to himself. And it's in the end. No, you don't. And he, like, he like, aims the crossbow up at the position and then actually closes his eyes and just breathes it out, remembering where it was. And as he fires the bolt, right when the bolt flies off the front of the crossbow, there's actually a little bit of like first flame fire that just burns in the water up in front of it. And the bolt just. Just disappears into the ink. No one sees anything. No one sees the bolt strike. It just disappears into the ink. But where it strikes, Greta, you and Ro both feel a violent shuddering from the creature.
[01:29:38] Speaker C: Ow.
[01:29:38] Speaker D: My butt.
That's what we hear.
[01:29:41] Speaker B: If anyone spoke squid, he was like, ow, Matushi owie.
[01:29:53] Speaker D: On that note, can deepest speech be used to understand any creature?
[01:30:01] Speaker B: No, no, it's understood by any creature, but it's a one way computer.
[01:30:04] Speaker D: Gosh dang it. Okay.
[01:30:07] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah.
[01:30:08] Speaker D: Thank you. That's amazing.
[01:30:13] Speaker B: Also remember, Row, you're. You're on deck. Craig, you're up after that. And it will be vaus.
[01:30:23] Speaker C: We.
[01:30:25] Speaker E: I think I got calculated.
[01:30:31] Speaker B: Yeah, it's okay.
[01:30:31] Speaker E: Appreciate y'all.
Yeah. 50.
[01:30:44] Speaker B: 50.
Well, that's Tello's new damage record.
[01:30:52] Speaker D: Oh, my gosh.
[01:30:54] Speaker B: Tell us. I. That's a. That's more damage than he's ever done. That's awesome.
[01:30:59] Speaker E: I rolled like four sixes.
[01:31:03] Speaker B: That's sick.
So as that bolt disappears into the darkness.
That's awesome.
What's up next?
[01:31:15] Speaker C: Me.
[01:31:16] Speaker B: Oh, Ro, you are now up. That's. That's. That's an incredible turn. It feels like the creature's really hurt.
[01:31:23] Speaker C: I'm gonna do something that I don't know if it's a good idea or not.
[01:31:29] Speaker D: That's right, yo.
[01:31:30] Speaker C: That's what I always do, isn't it?
[01:31:32] Speaker D: Isn't that how we got here?
[01:31:35] Speaker B: Oh, this is the way.
[01:31:36] Speaker C: Shots fired.
[01:31:40] Speaker D: Love you. Love you.
[01:31:42] Speaker C: Love you too.
So I remembered something about my loot that I just hit him with.
And I'm going to grab hold of song splinter again.
[01:31:56] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:31:56] Speaker C: And I'm going to start strumming it blind because I can't see. There's ink in my eyes. And I'm going to use the five charges that my song splitter has and cast charm monster.
[01:32:16] Speaker B: Oh, crazy.
That's a wild decision.
I do love it.
Sick.
I need to make a check against your spell save dc.
[01:32:34] Speaker C: Correct. Yeah. You have to.
[01:32:36] Speaker A: No, no, no. It's a wisdom saving throw.
[01:32:38] Speaker C: It's a wisdom standing throw. Yeah, I was gonna tell him that I was reading it.
[01:32:44] Speaker B: What's your spell save?
[01:32:46] Speaker C: 17.
[01:32:52] Speaker B: His advantage. Oh, my goodness. I rolled a 16. What's the modifier. Abby, you can. You can.
[01:32:58] Speaker E: No.
[01:33:00] Speaker B: What kind of save is it?
[01:33:02] Speaker C: Wisdom.
[01:33:06] Speaker B: Oh, it's got a plus three in wisdom. It gets. It gets a 19 in saves, but only cuz it has advanced advantage.
Oh, if that had been popped right at the beginning, it probably would have failed. Abby, with a 15. You succeed and are no longer row. Oh, that's so sick. As you play out like, I want.
[01:33:32] Speaker C: It to sound like. I know it's kind of like. I know they're like maybe problematic now. I don't know. But it sounds like Monster by skillet when she plays. And it's all distortion or whatever.
[01:33:45] Speaker B: They can be whatever they want. They still have a lot of epic songs that I love 2016.
As there's that you go to play that second rift and you go.
The tentacle just slams you against another one. And as it doesn't finish, the monster cuts it short. And.
[01:34:04] Speaker C: And. And as it plays.
As I play that I give inspiration to Greta.
[01:34:16] Speaker B: Okay, could somebody. Since Abby has gone to look for her charger, could someone message in the chat? Greta has inspiration.
Awesome. Killer turn. Craig, you are up.
[01:34:31] Speaker D: I do the exact same thing I've been doing. Except that's right.
[01:34:35] Speaker B: You are a little bit. Do you want to move forward, close?
[01:34:39] Speaker D: I get a little bit close. Yes. Just have it. Does that make me open to being vulnerable?
Because I don't like that.
My goodness. I'm gonna turn down. Wait, I can't hear. Un momento.
[01:34:54] Speaker B: You can turn the music down.
[01:34:57] Speaker D: Night ears have been on. Okay.
I would like to move just enough to where I could hit.
[01:35:05] Speaker A: Okay.
[01:35:06] Speaker D: That's all.
I wish I could take BS with me.
[01:35:12] Speaker B: So dexterity saving there for me, right?
[01:35:16] Speaker D: Indeed.
I mean, it did not pass.
[01:35:23] Speaker B: Crazy. I failed again. This guy's rolling.
[01:35:28] Speaker C: Except for some reason, it's March.
[01:35:30] Speaker B: It misses again. Well, I rolled really well.
Well, he's not smart. He's perceptive. Wisdom, not intelligence. True, he has a beast intelligence, but very good perception.
So Craig slinging the sword again. A bunch of fragments.
[01:35:46] Speaker D: Indeed. And I have to do do math all over again because I'm doing a third level.
[01:35:50] Speaker B: As Craig just fires off the shore, it swings outward.
Okay, give me a second. They slice into the creature again.
Oh, Craig, you can use the sword twice this way until the next dawn. That's very important. From your sheet. So this is your second use.
[01:36:09] Speaker D: It's okay.
[01:36:11] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:36:12] Speaker D: I'm happy I have javelins.
[01:36:16] Speaker B: What a great quote, baby. I'm happy I have javelins.
Great quote.
[01:36:27] Speaker D: One second.
[01:36:29] Speaker B: No, it's okay, do your thing.
This song slaps.
[01:36:43] Speaker D: So that's done.
[01:36:44] Speaker B: Mad props out to.
This is ascii. Yeah.
Get that math book.
[01:37:01] Speaker D: I'm not even mathing yet. I'm just still rolling.
[01:37:04] Speaker B: Just to roll.
[01:37:06] Speaker D: Okay, now the math. Here we go.
[01:37:09] Speaker B: Okay, hit me with the math.
Oh, that was the whole.
[01:37:13] Speaker D: No, I. I have to calculate it.
[01:37:15] Speaker B: Right. Sorry, sorry, sorry.
[01:37:17] Speaker D: One second.
[01:37:19] Speaker B: It's math at the top.
Jackie, you are jamming, dude.
[01:37:34] Speaker D: Okay, I got it.
[01:37:36] Speaker B: Yeah. Mickle, what'd you get?
[01:37:38] Speaker D: I got a 61 plus 1 equals 62.
[01:37:43] Speaker B: 62 points of damage.
[01:37:47] Speaker D: That's a lot of damage.
[01:37:52] Speaker B: I think that's third. I think that's your third place damage record right there. That's crazy. 62 points of damage.
Oh, man.
Craig, as you fire the shards, the brilliant shining blue platinum shards out into the darkness, they. You see what happens to the creature because they spread the ink cloud apart. Like the ink cloud disperses around them and the light again disappears from you. All shines around the creature as the shard sits into slash into it. It is covered in deep gashes. Some of these shards of the blade are disappearing in and out of other parts of the appendages like. Like slicing. Like they're. They're not the same width around, but they're going all the way through. Tentacles coming back out. You're just shredding this thing. And it's. The blood is filling with its thick, viscous blood. The waters and the pieces of your sword come back and this creature is looking real rough, like less than a quarter of its hit points wrong with that.
Before boss's turn, it's going to expend its reaction because it has another one, this phone. And it's going to use another Inky Escape.
[01:39:04] Speaker C: Gone farther away. He's taking us with him.
[01:39:07] Speaker D: No.
[01:39:13] Speaker B: It'S trying to survive with lunch, so.
Oh, my God, that's so cute.
[01:39:22] Speaker A: Wait, how did it move farther away before I had my turn?
[01:39:25] Speaker B: It has a reaction called Inky Escape. And you can take reactions when things happen to you the same way that you can reaction a counter spell when it's not on your turn in the Initiative.
[01:39:35] Speaker A: Okay. I thought a reaction is recharge on your turn, right? You can only have one in between turns. Or is it. Does it have a different.
[01:39:41] Speaker B: Yes. Each combat round, you have another reaction.
[01:39:44] Speaker E: On its last turn.
[01:39:47] Speaker B: Yeah. So you don't need to wait all the way back to your turn again to get a reaction. Otherwise, a spellcaster with a reaction could only counter spell once and then. And then if Another spell was cast even all the way at the top of Initiative. They would just need to be like, well, another spell was cast in a new round of combat, but it's not my turn yet. And you get, you get your reaction back every new round of combat in the same way that you have one action, one bonus action, one reaction reaction, one movement each round of combat. The reaction is just not dependent on the round of combat. The reaction is dependent on just the, the new round of combat resetting.
[01:40:24] Speaker A: Okay, so I, I, I believe you. I, I'm, I've always understood it to be refreshing on turn. And after some quick searching, I'm thinking it, that's how it goes. Would you mind if we just double check real quick? Because I.
[01:40:37] Speaker B: Sure, yeah. I'm always down to check rules. I, the battle map has disappeared for me and I can't get it back.
[01:40:43] Speaker D: I have it.
[01:40:46] Speaker E: Yeah, I do too. It's front and center.
[01:40:48] Speaker B: Okay, I got it back. No, I like clicked on someone else's screen and then it was like, you can have it back.
I could be wrong about this. Ruin. Hasn't been. Won't be the first time, not the first time, won't be the last. That's what.
[01:41:02] Speaker A: Okay, so in chapter nine of the basic rules in 2014, it says when you take a reaction, you can't take another one until the start of your next turn.
[01:41:11] Speaker B: Start of your next turn. Okay, Landon, very important ruling. It does not move. Thank you, Lando. Oh.
[01:41:30] Speaker D: I definitely heard most of that.
[01:41:35] Speaker B: Good stuff, Lando. Thank you. I thought it was at the top of the top of Initiative. It's on a turn. Thank you for helping me remember that.
Phenomenal. So it doesn't move away and it's boss's turn.
[01:41:50] Speaker A: Good, because I don't. There's only a, a 33% chance that v can do anything this turn. Let's see if that works.
[01:41:57] Speaker B: Nope.
[01:41:59] Speaker A: 30Ft towards the squid. Is any, Are any of its tentacles like floating? Cuz I assume it's heading towards the direction it is. Like its body is angled that way, which means its tentacles are like behind it.
[01:42:11] Speaker B: Yeah, you could, you could reach something.
[01:42:15] Speaker A: Maybe like a disadvantage.
[01:42:17] Speaker B: 10Ft after you swim 30 forward, there's a tentacle 10ft away from you. 15ft. Okay.
[01:42:24] Speaker A: No, I can't, I can't attack it then. No, I just moved 30ft and I'm done.
[01:42:28] Speaker B: Do you, Are you not able to recharge breath weapon or. You didn't. It didn't return?
[01:42:31] Speaker A: No, no, no, no. Actually I think I'm Going to dash.
[01:42:34] Speaker B: Action.
[01:42:35] Speaker A: I'm gonna get, like.
I'm gonna swim around it and try to get in front of it or just try to get into where if it moves away, I get an opportunity. Opportunity attack, basically.
[01:42:45] Speaker B: Okay. Yes.
[01:42:47] Speaker A: But I want to try to position my. I guess I can't avoid the ink if it does use a reaction again.
[01:42:53] Speaker B: Yes, you will not be able to avoid.
[01:42:55] Speaker A: Yeah, I'll get close to it, and then I'll just hang out there and I'll just blare at a go.
[01:42:58] Speaker C: Right.
[01:42:59] Speaker B: I know you can't see it super well, but I promise I have you right next to it.
[01:43:03] Speaker A: Oh, I see it. I see it actually perfectly well.
[01:43:04] Speaker B: Perfectly fine. Okay, great.
Awesome. That's my turn. Very practical turn, boss. Also, Landon, seriously, that's. It's really helpful when you verify rules like that. Thank you very much.
Because it's a lot to remember.
So it's the Myers quits. Turn it. Ah, this sucks. I'm sorry, man.
Reaction back.
[01:43:26] Speaker E: Does it have to.
Yeah.
[01:43:33] Speaker A: Wisdom. Safe wisdom. Safe wisdom.
[01:43:37] Speaker B: Oh, I'm gosh darn proud of some players out here. Remembering all the mechanics.
Oh, that's bad. I assume I fail at 12 fails, right?
[01:43:46] Speaker E: Yeah.
[01:43:48] Speaker B: Greta, it gets no action this turn. That's huge.
No attacks, no bite, nothing. Amazing. It can use its reaction and its movement, but it gets no action. That's incredible.
[01:44:07] Speaker A: What does it look like as it. Like a stop from doing things by the curse and its pinnacle.
[01:44:12] Speaker B: Oh, pause.
[01:44:15] Speaker E: It's. Wait. It stops from doing things.
[01:44:19] Speaker B: It doesn't bite you or slam you into the ground.
[01:44:21] Speaker E: Can we say that as that happens, like the ink that wrote the words on its skin. Like, it, like there it, like, light up a little bit.
[01:44:32] Speaker B: Yes, Absolutely brilliant. Emerald light flares off of its already green tentacles and it shudders slightly. It like, was pulling row toward the beak again. And you all watch as the tentacles spread and the beak just opens and it's roe is being pulled toward it. But before the script flares again and the tentacles, like, shove, like, shudder and pull roe away. Sick.
[01:44:51] Speaker A: But like, bro, what is okay.
[01:45:00] Speaker B: Because it's using that reaction.
[01:45:03] Speaker E: Nice landing.
[01:45:07] Speaker A: All right, let's roll.
[01:45:09] Speaker B: Sorry.
[01:45:10] Speaker A: Let me put my bronze dragon stats. I have a plus five I believe to.
That's fine to hit. All right.
That is an 8. I miss the inking ink, boss.
[01:45:29] Speaker B: As you go, it like. Like one of the tentacles just bats you away. And there's another of ink because you have both saved. Greta, you and Ro are both now immune. But, boss, I need a constitution Saving throw from you.
[01:45:43] Speaker A: Con save.
[01:45:45] Speaker B: And oh, I get a plus four row. You're blinded again.
And not only is it going to use that distance to move 30 away, it also has its movement.
[01:46:06] Speaker C: This is not good.
[01:46:25] Speaker B: Jettison all the way over the edge of the cliff. Ro, you and Greta are just over the edge of the cliff in the tentacles. It's also starting to swim down. It's only 10ft above the lift.
The next movement is going to be to try and dart down and away into the darkness with both of them.
[01:46:43] Speaker C: Shoot.
[01:46:46] Speaker A: Roll a 15 by the way on my save.
[01:46:49] Speaker B: You safe. You are. You are not poisoned. Possible.
[01:46:52] Speaker A: Yeah. Am I blind?
[01:46:56] Speaker B: Yeah, but the moment you take any movement anywhere, you'll be able to see.
Cuz it's like. It's like a. It's. What is it? 30 foot sphere. So if you move anywhere, I assume.
[01:47:08] Speaker A: I can feel the displacement of water, the direction it moves in a general sense. Right.
[01:47:12] Speaker B: For sure. It slapped you as it left.
Greta, you are up now in initiative. And Tello is on deck. Roe is up.
Okay.
[01:47:26] Speaker E: I would like to half ready.
[01:47:32] Speaker B: I heard. I would like to cast.
Is.
[01:47:35] Speaker A: Is she still blind?
[01:47:37] Speaker B: She is.
[01:47:39] Speaker E: Oh, I can't see it.
[01:47:41] Speaker B: No, you're blinded by the ink. I mean it's all around you. But you're blind.
[01:47:46] Speaker E: So can I cast?
Can I cast?
[01:47:51] Speaker B: Wait, are you trying to catch.
[01:47:54] Speaker A: I believe you had disadvantage, but I could be wrong. Zachary may have to remind.
[01:48:04] Speaker B: You have disadvantage because you're blinded with a guiding bolt. And you have disadvantage because you have disadvantage on range spells against a creature in melee.
Okay, so Dar disadvantaged.
A touch spell would not be a disadvantage. I would say you do because you're blinded, except the thing is literally wrapped around you. All you have to do is this and you're. You're touching it. So you don't have disadvantage.
[01:48:33] Speaker E: Right.
[01:48:36] Speaker B: Man, I farted into this chair a lot. Yeah, I'm really poor chair.
[01:48:42] Speaker E: I would like.
Can I try and escape the grapple?
[01:48:48] Speaker B: You most certainly can, yes.
[01:48:50] Speaker C: I didn't ever think of that.
[01:48:54] Speaker B: Give me a. So this is your action. Give me a strength saving draw.
[01:48:58] Speaker E: It says.
I'm just looking online. Strength or.
[01:49:06] Speaker B: Sure, absolutely. That's just general contested grapple checks. Monsters often have defined traits that surround it.
And this isn't really a dexterity situation because it's not like you're wrestling with someone. You're trying to slip out. This is a creature that can bend and wrap itself. It has a completely sealed grasp with a strength of 22 slipped around. You are trying to push your. You can't shimmy. There's no room.
So it is a strength sat. But what you were reading is correct. That's just for like a contested grapple. Check with another creature. This is not like a general grapple. You're trying to escape a specific thing.
[01:49:46] Speaker E: I meant 21.
[01:49:49] Speaker B: 21, yeah. Greta. DC19.
[01:49:53] Speaker A: What?
[01:49:56] Speaker C: Greta.
[01:49:58] Speaker B: That's crazy.
[01:50:02] Speaker A: Is this the Ursula origin story? Is Ursula just Roe?
[01:50:08] Speaker E: That's hilarious.
[01:50:10] Speaker B: Greta, what does it look like as you wriggle your way out of this king's grasp? That's crazy.
[01:50:18] Speaker E: I'm gonna. No, I'm not gonna.
I was gonna say that she bites it, but she's not gonna bite it.
[01:50:25] Speaker A: That's funny. Does she like sushi?
[01:50:28] Speaker C: Probably.
[01:50:29] Speaker E: She's just going to like wiggle.
[01:50:36] Speaker B: Push.
Okay. Most of that was garbled, but I like that because that feels like flavoring for while you're. When you're underwater. I think it's cuz you're using the microphone in your headphones. But as. So as Greta's in the grasp, she.
And through that. That really impressive process that digs into her backstory and character. She pushed. She like. As the creature's shuddering from its wound, she takes advantage of one of the twitches and pushes her way out. Now Abby has walked away. So I don't know if Greta uses movement. She can still hear me and sick.
But do you use any movement to move away? You could take an opportunity attack. There's a. As you're right next to it. You're also right next to it.
[01:51:26] Speaker E: I am not going to take him.
I'm a static.
[01:51:31] Speaker B: Okay, so you just ribble out of its grasp right next to it. Excellent.
That is your movement and action. Do you take a bonus action?
[01:51:40] Speaker E: No.
[01:51:41] Speaker B: Okay. Next up in Initiative is Tello. Ro is on deck. Craig is up after that.
[01:51:48] Speaker E: Okay, what's up? If my math is correct, I am within 120ft of. Tello is within 120ft of this guy, right?
[01:51:59] Speaker A: Yes.
[01:51:59] Speaker B: Yeah. Correct.
[01:52:00] Speaker E: Okay.
I'm gonna grab the nearest crustace. No, I'm gonna look for the nearest sea creature.
[01:52:11] Speaker B: Absolutely.
[01:52:14] Speaker E: Do I see one? No, I'm. I'm. I'm just looking with my eye.
[01:52:19] Speaker B: You see this? Yes.
[01:52:21] Speaker E: Okay. Is there one like 10ft away from.
[01:52:27] Speaker B: Yep. The secret is all around him.
[01:52:30] Speaker E: Okay. Okay. He's gonna.
Okay.
Tallow is going. Going to try to cast Sprout of Madness.
Sorry. The.
The charmed target must use its action before moving on each of its turns to make a melee attack against A creature other than itself that you mentally choose. I want to choose like a sea creature where have something.
[01:53:04] Speaker B: An insane decision. I love it that.
[01:53:08] Speaker E: But I want to try and teach him that. Is it too close, though? But I want to try and draw it back. So maybe like in between. Hello. And Craig, is there a crab or sea cucumber?
[01:53:21] Speaker B: Not a starfish.
[01:53:23] Speaker E: Those are my favorite.
[01:53:24] Speaker B: Hold on. I'm just going to read this really quickly because I want to make sure I understand this spell.
[01:53:27] Speaker E: You said have to see to. Like, there's a wisdom saving thing. I just want to be clear about the.
[01:53:36] Speaker B: Let me read through that detail real quick. That's. What a. What a killer.
[01:53:40] Speaker D: And the range is 120ft, right?
[01:53:44] Speaker B: Yep.
Okay.
Oh, Abby.
Big Sorry. Tello casts crown of madness and it automatically fails because he targets a creature which is not a humanoid.
And the language of the spell specifies you target one humanoid of your choice that you can see within range.
[01:54:16] Speaker E: Okay, the. Yeah, the. I'm looking online. I'm looking on wiki dot, and it does not say that, does it? Is that what I mean?
[01:54:26] Speaker B: Does the wiki dot at the bottom say 2024 rules?
[01:54:30] Speaker E: I don't know.
[01:54:33] Speaker B: Tag Wizards of the Coast.
[01:54:37] Speaker A: No, I'm on Wikidot is as well. And it does say humanoid at the very start of the spell. Addie.
[01:54:45] Speaker B: One humanoid of your choice.
[01:54:48] Speaker A: Yeah, at the very start, it says.
[01:54:49] Speaker B: Humanoid rectangles and squares. Right. Like, so not all squares are rectangles, but all.
[01:54:55] Speaker E: No, no, not all.
[01:54:57] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:54:57] Speaker E: Yeah.
Okay. Well, that is actually.
[01:55:02] Speaker B: I am very sorry.
[01:55:05] Speaker E: My bad.
[01:55:05] Speaker B: Tello FRUSTRATEDLY MUTTERS AND SWEARS Ro, it's your turn. Craig is on deck. Yeah, boss, you're up after that. And then after boss, the squid is gone.
[01:55:21] Speaker C: What do you mean, after boss the squid is gone?
[01:55:24] Speaker B: Boss is next in initiative and it's gone.
[01:55:26] Speaker C: Oh, you mean like.
[01:55:28] Speaker B: So it throws. Craig's on deck. Boss is up after that, then it's the squid and it's gonna go splash.
[01:55:34] Speaker C: Yeah.
So. Okay.
[01:55:37] Speaker B: What you doing, bro?
[01:55:39] Speaker C: I am going to cast.
Sorry, What?
Sorry, I.
[01:55:53] Speaker B: Just focus, please.
[01:55:54] Speaker C: I'm so sorry.
I would like to cast Polymorph on the squid.
[01:56:06] Speaker B: Okay.
What do you polymorph it into?
[01:56:11] Speaker C: I would like to attempt to polymorph it into one of those little crabs. Those little Dungeness crabs.
[01:56:18] Speaker B: Absolutely.
[01:56:23] Speaker C: Wisdom saving throw. Yeah.
[01:56:26] Speaker B: Oh. What's your spell?
[01:56:28] Speaker C: Save 17.
[01:56:32] Speaker B: Ro, what does it look like as you cast your spell?
[01:56:35] Speaker D: No way.
[01:56:36] Speaker C: So she still has song splinter and she's. She's blindly just Playing. Playing chords, which she can do pretty easily. Let's be real. Like, she never looks at her. Yeah. So she's just playing. And as she attempts to polymorph this creature, I want to say, like, this inky purple and green and gold. Like, the same, like, viscosity of the ink, like, wraps around the whole squid, basically, of, like, her magic to try and attempt to polymorph this.
[01:57:20] Speaker B: And as that magic wraps around you, all are just separated from its grasp, and you all fall down. No longer grapple as the entire squid just turns into a little crab. And because of where it's positioned and when you're positioned, the crab just falls over the edge of the cliff. Like, you guys land in the substrate, and the crab just sinks past the edge.
With that, you're out of combat, and you guys are free.
[01:58:00] Speaker C: Oh, you know where it's going? It's going to that place where the bus stop is. The really scary place.
[01:58:12] Speaker B: Yes.
[01:58:14] Speaker D: How long will it be like that?
[01:58:17] Speaker C: An hour.
[01:58:18] Speaker B: An hour it's gone.
[01:58:21] Speaker A: Or until Roe takes damage. And this is constant.
[01:58:25] Speaker C: Craig goes. Good job. Row on the back. Yeah.
[01:58:30] Speaker B: Good job, bro. Here's a sword.
And so very scattered and a little wounded. The party is on that cliff edge there.
[01:58:45] Speaker D: Gosh.
[01:58:47] Speaker B: We'll give it, like, a little more time, and then we'll wrap up the session. I think I'm gonna have to rename to this one. We're. Let's call this one. Instead of the drowned Keep, let's call it Fathomless Fears will be the new aim for this episode. And then139 can be drowned Keep.
[01:59:03] Speaker D: Wait, so if I take my minister sword and then stab it through the crab, would that give it a charge?
[01:59:13] Speaker B: You're not next to it, but you could certainly try. Hypothetically.
Actually, that joke is just that joke is just that, Micah. If you did that, you would break the polymorph form, and then you'd have a squid on your hands again.
[01:59:28] Speaker D: Oh, really?
[01:59:28] Speaker B: You never, ever want to hit a polymorphed monster. The moment you will, you do, you damage the polymorph form.
[01:59:35] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:59:36] Speaker B: The over damage goes to the form, but the moment the polymorph form is broken, it goes back to what it was. So no more classic a dnd mistake than a caster transforming a giant monster into a little thing. And then the barbarian going, finally bonk. And then it's the big thing, the most classic flop.
[01:59:53] Speaker A: You know what's funny? If that polymorph had not succeeded, my dragon breath weapon would have been a 2, and I would have been powerless to stop anything. Jackie would have been gone. She would have disappeared. She. I would not have been able to do a single thing about it.
[02:00:06] Speaker B: So phenomenal. Polymorph.
[02:00:08] Speaker C: I knew I had to do so.
[02:00:09] Speaker B: The group, through some trudging, can work their way all the way back together.
Yes.
[02:00:18] Speaker A: No, I. Did you pass your saving throw, Jackie?
[02:00:21] Speaker B: No, no, no.
[02:00:23] Speaker C: Lined.
I didn't have to do an attack roll because.
Because it was a spell.
[02:00:31] Speaker B: I'm blind and see within range, but I'm holding. She's right next to it. She knows where it is.
[02:00:38] Speaker C: It's literally grabbing me.
[02:00:40] Speaker A: Yes, yes, yes.
[02:00:41] Speaker B: Okay. Also, I've already turned off the camera.
I don't care.
[02:00:46] Speaker A: We all got a homework moment.
[02:00:49] Speaker B: That's. That's like. That's when the student asks you if you have homework, and the teacher's like, I'm too tired. You don't have home.
[02:00:53] Speaker D: That's literally what I said.
[02:00:54] Speaker C: I don't want to grade your papers.
[02:00:56] Speaker B: But I still get to start. Like, I was just adding.
So it takes a couple minutes for everybody to gather back together. Slowly trudging. Like. It's that. It's that underwater walking you have to do. Takes forever, but you guys work your way back together. And what is the party doing?
[02:01:16] Speaker C: Do you guys think that he was guarding whatever we're trying to find?
[02:01:22] Speaker A: I'm cussing out Tello in Draconic. Like, what the dude you doing, bro? You tried to cast Crowded Madness on a crab. Ro almost died. No one can understand me because I'm Draconic.
[02:01:32] Speaker B: Tello, who doesn't speak Draconic, turns to you, goes, I know of us. I really didn't think we had that, but we did great. Good team. We're the fun guys, you know? And even starts loading a bolt.
He's. He's searching through the silt for the one crossbow that didn't help.
These things are kind of valuable, you know?
[02:01:52] Speaker C: So do you think he was, like, guarding it, or do you think he's unrelated?
[02:01:58] Speaker A: Boz, still speaking in Draconic, starts saying, yeah, I'm pretty sure, you know, I don't know if he was here willingly or if he knew he was running.
[02:02:04] Speaker B: It, but I can totally see a hat.
[02:02:08] Speaker A: Or convincing him.
[02:02:09] Speaker C: You're gonna have to.
[02:02:10] Speaker B: To.
[02:02:10] Speaker C: You're gonna have to form back into normal if you want to talk to spouse Zach.
[02:02:16] Speaker E: So can I do, like, can my.
[02:02:18] Speaker A: Fairy dragon be out Zach?
[02:02:21] Speaker B: I'll pick one of those three questions, and I'm gonna select the one that was asked first.
Abby started to say something about a nature check.
[02:02:28] Speaker E: Can I do like a nature check or reception to see if I can figure out why the squid was there?
[02:02:37] Speaker B: Yes, I would. I was actually thinking of that check. Could you give me a nature check? And then Mickle, could you ask your question?
[02:02:44] Speaker C: And remember, Greta, you have a plus 10 right now. If you haven't used it.
[02:02:49] Speaker B: Yes or not.
Are both still bartically inspired. You Both have a D10.
What's up? What's up?
[02:02:56] Speaker D: Craig does deepest speech doesn't have any hit points attached to it. So I could talk. Talk to the polymorphed?
[02:03:06] Speaker B: Yes. If it was not now 80ft below the cliff's egg still sinking. You could talk to it. You could try and shout out into the darkness if you wanted. Yes.
Now you know the deepest speech requires that a creature is intelligent enough for language.
So it'd probably be a whiff.
[02:03:28] Speaker E: I got a 25.
[02:03:31] Speaker B: 25.
Lando, ask your question real quick and then I'll tell Abby her results.
[02:03:36] Speaker A: I was gonna see if my fairy dragon could be out. I don't think I ever dispelled it because it can translate from draconic to sylvan.
[02:03:46] Speaker E: Yeah.
[02:03:48] Speaker B: You did not previously.
[02:03:50] Speaker A: I did never dispel it.
[02:03:52] Speaker B: It's always been how many creatures can you cast underwater breathing on that is true. It's gone.
[02:03:59] Speaker A: It died. It suffocated and drowned, actually.
[02:04:03] Speaker C: Sheesh.
[02:04:07] Speaker D: Guys, I'm so tired of animal abuse.
[02:04:09] Speaker B: That's fine.
[02:04:11] Speaker A: I dispelled it. I wouldn't let it drown.
[02:04:16] Speaker B: Greta, you pieced together that it's very likely that. But also that robin looks good. You pieced together this creature was probably just exhibiting a larger version. It didn't strike you as intelligent? All of its movements were very non strategic, very just kind of instinctual. It looked like this reef point draws life.
It's such a creature in such an abyssal space.
Not in the D and D term, but in the definition of the word that occupies this desert of black nothingness.
If there's any structural point nearby where food might ever gather, it probably hunts those areas frequently.
With a 25, you cleverly intuit things that only biologists from another world far in the future will put together that in the deep abyss light is very uncommon and a powerful attractant to other creatures in predecessors predators as a light object along this cliff face where other organisms gather probably just drew the large hunter in.
Wow.
[02:05:21] Speaker D: Sorry.
[02:05:23] Speaker B: It's okay.
[02:05:24] Speaker D: My bad.
[02:05:25] Speaker B: Were you guys gonna crawl around the dark? It was an awesome fight.
What? What Is the party doing?
[02:05:33] Speaker A: Is there a clear indicator of where the next place to go is or where the entrance to this thing might be?
[02:05:38] Speaker B: Or are we. No signage, markings or entry points.
[02:05:43] Speaker A: Got it.
[02:05:44] Speaker B: But you do know that this was the general area that your Greta had used. Locate object on a humanoid skull, and you were led to the skull at this point.
But there's. There's no large sign that says like layer entrance here.
[02:05:59] Speaker A: No, no, but I mean like if I saw like a. Like a large open like hole in the side of the cliff face, you know, like something like.
[02:06:06] Speaker B: Give me. Yes, absolutely. Sorry. Clear indicator. Let's go with. I. I get what you're saying now. Let's go with.
Give me a.
You can make this perception or investigation. I'm fine with this being either.
[02:06:23] Speaker A: Okay, that is a 24.
[02:06:26] Speaker B: Okay, that's excellent.
[02:06:28] Speaker A: Wait, no, I have to use the bronze dragon stats.
I. Perception is a what?
That is wisdom. And the Bronze dragon has a plus zero to wisdom. So that's 18.
[02:06:40] Speaker B: Sorry, 18.
I said I'm not wild. I'm not on wild shaping. And you can't make me boss with the eagle eyes of your bronze dragons. You still beat this. Wait, do you beat the DC 18? Let's see. Is what I say that before I just start going? Yeah, you did it.
[02:06:57] Speaker D: You got this. I believe in you.
[02:06:59] Speaker B: Where am I?
[02:07:00] Speaker D: That's enough.
[02:07:02] Speaker B: You do.
You just meet the DC actually. Nice.
Your sharp, predatory, magical eyes. And it is keen senses in this. It just feels good to be this creature. It just feels good.
You can sense everything around you so clearly. And as you peer outward, you look up the cliff face there, somewhat upward, you can see maybe 20ft up along the stone wall, there is. Hold on, let me get to the description.
Against the visibly endless wall of black smooth stone that makes up the tectonic shelf. On one side of the yawning. One side of the yawning bright black abyss of the trench, there is a single wound, a narrow smooth slit of stone, like a stab in the DC cliff.
You can see a kind of slitted mineral mouth like shape 20ft off of the shelf floor. Unadorned, undecorated, otherwise unassuming.
But if it clearly leads into something so ba's.
[02:08:22] Speaker A: The dragon has what's called a repulsion breath which can like emanate energy from his maw that like pushes things. Would it be possible to do like a slight version of that? To like nudge the party towards the cliff face? Since I can't use words but use like, not like a Full breath, but just like a nostril. Like a push towards it. Like a limit.
[02:08:40] Speaker B: You can tower or is that not.
[02:08:42] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm going to try. There's no damage, so absolutely.
[02:08:46] Speaker B: Describe that for me.
[02:08:48] Speaker A: So Boz is looking around with his nice, cool looking dragon face, and he does like a pointer dog pose towards the open scar. And then he does a big huff through his nose and a force of energy comes out towards the cliff face.
I mean, towards the entrance.
[02:09:07] Speaker B: Anyone who wants to give me an animal handling check or an insight check, I'll do it.
[02:09:16] Speaker A: Strength saving throw. If you.
[02:09:18] Speaker C: If 23 inside you, I got a 23 too.
[02:09:24] Speaker B: You guys get what pause is pointing you toward. And as your eyeline follows, you see, you can see what's up ahead.
[02:09:31] Speaker C: I'm gonna. I'm gonna say good boy, Bozzy.
[02:09:34] Speaker B: Boo.
[02:09:35] Speaker E: Boo.
[02:09:37] Speaker B: You pout the cre. You pat the creature many times larger than yourself.
[02:09:42] Speaker A: He waits for people to grab onto him so that he can swim towards a thing.
[02:09:46] Speaker B: Okay.
[02:09:49] Speaker C: Yeah.
[02:09:50] Speaker B: It is trudging to pull these other four people with you. You're a large, strong creature, but this is difficult. But as you slowly, like, move toward it and pull yourself up when you get there, Boz, as you get to the stone cliff face and you're doing this kind of swimming, kind of crawling up the cliff face. As you get toward it, you get to this gash, this wound in the cliff face. This entry point is 2 1/2ft tall and 3ft wide. Widest in the middle and narrowing to either edge. It is tight.
[02:10:23] Speaker C: That's shorter than Greta and I.
[02:10:26] Speaker B: Way wide.
[02:10:27] Speaker E: Wow.
[02:10:28] Speaker B: It's about that tall and it gets narrow at the top. You guys could. Each of you, you realize you can enter this space horizontally, vertically only.
[02:10:38] Speaker E: I love that.
Horizontally. And one at a. That's not good.
[02:10:47] Speaker B: Yes. Micah.
[02:10:50] Speaker D: What.
[02:10:52] Speaker C: How big is. Is dragon balls around? Like, he's not getting in there without unwashed.
[02:11:00] Speaker B: Far too.
[02:11:01] Speaker D: Oh, that's funny.
[02:11:06] Speaker C: Well, guys, is there any. Is there any light?
[02:11:10] Speaker B: Like, there's 9:00, Micah. It's 9:00, dude.
[02:11:14] Speaker D: I get up at 4:50.
[02:11:17] Speaker C: That's what you do, dude. Do one of you guys want to shoot a light in there to see what's going on up in there?
[02:11:26] Speaker D: Last time that didn't work so well.
[02:11:29] Speaker A: Boss on wild shapes and do his human being form.
[02:11:34] Speaker B: And as he does, everyone has to very quickly, like, oh, grab onto the cliff face. But you guys are all like, kind of like holding onto the stone and you guys are doing that thing where you're like level in the water, like kind of kicking your feet, maintaining yourselves. It's moving down here is effort. It's very tiring to be down here for a while and then if you guys will adapt into it.
So what are you guys doing as you face it? I'm sorry, did someone specify.
Okay, what's the range on light?
[02:12:03] Speaker E: Let me Google.
[02:12:05] Speaker B: Also, I want to be really clear.
You guys are.
[02:12:11] Speaker E: No, I don't cast. Right.
[02:12:14] Speaker B: And Craig, you guys have the 30ft of bright light from Craig's sword. 30ft dim. Craig, if you're like kind of pointing it down the way you guys can see, like probably like 10, 15ft in. Pretty well defined by the light. And then it just kind of turns.
[02:12:29] Speaker A: And boss is lit up too. He does 10ft of bright light and 5ft of dim light past that.
[02:12:33] Speaker B: Excellent. So as you guys are these two different lights in this oceanscape, you can see.
Okay. Is you guys are just a freaking rave at the bottom of the ocean. Just light.
[02:12:48] Speaker A: Also, Boss cast freedom of.
[02:12:50] Speaker B: Get on 50 of what Abby says.
What did you say?
[02:12:55] Speaker A: Boss casts freedom of movement on himself.
[02:12:57] Speaker B: Okay. Excellent. Freedom of movement it is.
[02:13:00] Speaker A: So being underwater imposes no penalties to my movement or attacks.
[02:13:04] Speaker B: That's sick. And a good idea. Nice.
You guys can see very clearly about 10ft down the path. And then it curves pretty sharply.
Almost looks like it gets tighter too.
[02:13:24] Speaker C: Is there any. Any little creatures up in that? Up in that?
[02:13:28] Speaker B: You see rugged stone leading into a narrow slit. Okay.
[02:13:36] Speaker C: Hey.
[02:13:37] Speaker D: Anyone there?
[02:13:39] Speaker B: We have a scout. Calls out loud into the passage. Anyone there?
No response.
[02:13:44] Speaker E: You'll have a scout that we could spin. Do we? A scout like a.
Oh, balls.
[02:13:52] Speaker C: Your little. Your little guy.
[02:13:56] Speaker E: I don't think we have enough water breathing, Landon.
[02:14:02] Speaker A: Freedom of movement keeps going even when I'm wild shaped. If I wild shaped into a bronze dragon, would I have my fly speed underwater? Or would it still be my swim speed since water does not affect my movement anymore?
[02:14:16] Speaker B: What a question. Wow, Landon. How do I answer that, dude?
Because it does define that you're not restricted by any movement. But does it change the physical medium you're in?
[02:14:33] Speaker A: Being underwater imposes no penalties on the target's movement or attacks.
[02:14:39] Speaker B: Yes. Which is wild.
[02:14:40] Speaker A: I'm okay if you rule differently. Like, I'm okay, but I should. That's a question in my mind.
[02:14:44] Speaker B: Question. Here's the thing. Here's the thing. In my head, I'm like, no, because you still have to be in the physical medium you're in. But then in my head, I also Kind of go like. But it does persuade. What's your. What's your. What's your fly?
[02:14:55] Speaker A: 60Ft.
[02:14:56] Speaker B: And your. What's your swim? 30.
[02:14:59] Speaker A: 30.
[02:15:00] Speaker B: Let's call this. With freedom of movement. You have a fly of 45.
[02:15:04] Speaker A: Got it.
[02:15:04] Speaker E: That makes.
[02:15:04] Speaker A: That sounds fair to me. That sounds nice.
[02:15:06] Speaker B: Because I don't know how to answer that.
You guys are just there in front of the aperture.
[02:15:16] Speaker A: I start going into it. We got to go, guys. Like, this is our only spot. Unless y'all want to see a squid come back in an hour.
[02:15:22] Speaker C: Yeah, I don't. I just don't want to lead.
[02:15:25] Speaker A: And before anybody asks me, no, it's not safe here. Just to let y'all know, this is not a safe place to be, and it's dangerous.
[02:15:31] Speaker D: Okay, good.
[02:15:33] Speaker C: I don't need you to tell me that.
[02:15:36] Speaker A: I don't know. Every time we go somewhere, you're like, boss, are you sure this is safe? And I'm just telling you guys, no, this is not a safe place to be. It's quite dangerous. We might die.
[02:15:47] Speaker E: Yeah. I start going into this.
[02:15:50] Speaker B: Okay, what is the order?
[02:15:54] Speaker E: I. I'm gonna say to the group. I'm gonna say to the group, so Oz goes first.
[02:15:59] Speaker A: Unless someone stops him.
[02:16:01] Speaker B: I think, given her audio quality, if Abby's talking, we really need to let her talk. We can layer over the oyster sometimes, but if. No, it's okay. I'm not calling anybody out. But with. With Abby current audio quality, if someone else starts talking, I just lose her.
[02:16:15] Speaker E: So, yeah, I'm going to change my input. Is this any better? We'll see if it's better. I changed my input.
[02:16:22] Speaker B: It already sounds better.
[02:16:24] Speaker E: Okay. So sorry, that's my bad. Greta's going to say to the group, should we send the biggest people in first so that we know if they can't continue? Or should we all. Should we send the smallest people?
It looks like it's getting tighter.
[02:16:40] Speaker C: Yeah, that might be a good idea.
[02:16:45] Speaker E: Send the biggest people first so that.
[02:16:47] Speaker C: Yeah, maybe like balls. Craig, do you want. But you'd be at the end. Maybe we should.
[02:17:00] Speaker B: As Ro pauses. As Ro pauses, Tell just goes, okay. Do I look sure to you or.
[02:17:05] Speaker C: No, I'm sorry. I was literally thinking maybe Tallow. I was literally thinking maybe you should. You should, like, bring up the rear so that we have, like, big and big. Because you're so. Because you're so big and strong that it would be good to have you at the back. Exactly.
[02:17:21] Speaker D: I keep telling you, you should work out with us in the mornings. That's all I'm saying.
[02:17:25] Speaker B: He's preferred beauty. I understand.
[02:17:27] Speaker E: I think that height doesn't really matter here. I think that largeness aroundness matters more.
[02:17:35] Speaker B: I think Bre is talking about girth. I think we're. I think we're looking at Craig. I think we're looking at Greg and.
[02:17:41] Speaker D: Saying, you calling me bad?
[02:17:42] Speaker B: Eat any cake without some thickness in the batter. You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying?
I'm just tell turns to you and goes, greg, is it your birthday today?
[02:17:56] Speaker E: It's my brother's birthday around.
[02:17:58] Speaker B: So I feel really.
[02:17:59] Speaker D: Which one?
[02:18:00] Speaker C: Which brother?
[02:18:01] Speaker E: Jacob Mo.
[02:18:03] Speaker B: For real?
[02:18:04] Speaker C: Tell them. Happy, oh, my God day.
[02:18:08] Speaker E: Okay. So I say, I think, Craig, you should go first. And then whoever else is. I mean, after that, it doesn't really matter.
[02:18:17] Speaker D: Would like to go first.
[02:18:19] Speaker B: I mean, I'd like to go with that. Craig, do you try to navigate? So you guys are going to need to crawl, swim through this space if you want to keep the sword in your hand. That's going to get harder to do, but not impossible.
Do you try and keep the sword with you is because it's like trying to, like, crawl through something with us with a sword in your hand. Do you do that or do you put it away or what's the approach?
[02:18:46] Speaker D: I mean, I have no other thing of. I. If someone can offer me an alternative for light, I'll take it. I really will.
[02:18:54] Speaker E: Maybe. Hold on. Give me just a sec.
[02:18:57] Speaker D: Anyone can have anything or find anything.
[02:18:59] Speaker B: You can make an arcana check if you like.
[02:19:05] Speaker E: Oh, that's not good.
Oh, that is good. Dirty.
[02:19:12] Speaker B: Wow.
[02:19:13] Speaker E: Sorry.
[02:19:14] Speaker B: You can make a check. That's not good. No, never mind. It is.
Greta, you know that you can cast light onto objects.
[02:19:19] Speaker E: I know.
[02:19:20] Speaker B: So you could very easily cast light onto, like, the palm of Craig's gauntlet. And he could have it, like, as like a flashlight in his hand. You could even cast it onto, like, the neck of the collar of his armor. And it could be like a projection light forward. There's so many useful places.
[02:19:34] Speaker E: Yeah.
[02:19:35] Speaker B: You could cast Deac.
[02:19:36] Speaker E: So many useless places so that I could cast this. I'm gonna go up to Craig and I'm gonna tap my nose and cast light on my nose. And I'm gonna be like, Craig, you.
[02:19:42] Speaker D: Should high five me.
[02:19:44] Speaker E: This could be you.
[02:19:44] Speaker C: Sorry.
[02:19:45] Speaker E: This could be you, Craig. You want your nose to be glowing.
[02:19:49] Speaker D: Rudolph the Red nose. I mean, I don't know that that's. Yes.
[02:19:52] Speaker B: Oh, my goodness. Craig, Dolph.
[02:19:55] Speaker E: Craig.
[02:19:56] Speaker D: Dolph.
[02:19:58] Speaker E: Tap Craig's nose. And. And I. I do the.
[02:20:02] Speaker D: The Bewitched, like, so that it goes.
[02:20:03] Speaker E: Outward, like up into his. If I can do that with my.
[02:20:07] Speaker D: I want to make a joke. But his nostrils.
[02:20:11] Speaker E: Yeah, I put it in his nostrils pointing outward. There you go, Craig. That way it's not going to get up into your eyes.
I tap each.
[02:20:19] Speaker B: Can you remember to make the flavor text for this episode? Can it not be the nose, but the nostrils?
I want that to be the. The only descriptive text for this episode.
[02:20:31] Speaker E: That's hilarious.
[02:20:33] Speaker B: And as Greta casts light on Craig's nostrils. Craig, you even yourself out horizontally. You start crawling through the tunnel, swimming, moving back and forth.
And what. Who goes after Craig? I need the exact order.
[02:20:51] Speaker E: I'll go after Craig.
Unless someone else wants.
[02:20:55] Speaker C: I figured Boz would go after Craig, but that's fair. That was just my thought.
[02:21:02] Speaker B: Greta.
Well said.
[02:21:07] Speaker C: And then I'll. I'll go after Greta.
[02:21:11] Speaker B: Okay.
All right. And as order, I guess. Yep. And Tello brings up the rear.
As we bring that up, the party slowly but surely snakes their way into this narrow tunnel into the side of the sea cliff. And that is where we will end episode 138, Fathomless Fears of the Accidental Adventures as you guys crawl your way into the drowned keep.
[02:21:40] Speaker E: That's sick.
[02:21:42] Speaker B: Hey, guys, what's your current level?
[02:21:46] Speaker C: Oh, 12.89.
[02:21:50] Speaker B: You want to know something crazy?
[02:21:51] Speaker C: Oh, my gosh. Shut up.
[02:21:53] Speaker B: Meyer Squid was. Hold on.
Meyer squid was CR12 and you guys gained 0.01 for the level. So you gained 0.123 because you're at 12.89.
You're all level 13.
You level up.
Oh my gosh.
[02:22:16] Speaker D: We leveled up, you guys.
[02:22:18] Speaker C: So 13.013.
[02:22:22] Speaker B: Yes, 13.013. 13.01. So everyone is now level 13.
[02:22:29] Speaker C: Holy crap.
[02:22:31] Speaker B: So take a quick 10 minute break and please feel free to level up your characters. In the meantime, does anyone want to roll hit points real quick and tell us your new.
[02:22:41] Speaker C: I would love to do that.
[02:22:43] Speaker E: I don't know how to do that.
[02:22:46] Speaker B: Also, if someone wouldn't mind messaging in the chat that you're level 13 so that Boz knows when he gets back.
Little jealous of the pizza he's grabbing.
[02:22:57] Speaker E: But he's getting pizza.
[02:23:01] Speaker B: That's pretty message.
[02:23:05] Speaker D: Do I have that?
[02:23:07] Speaker B: I bet I do.
[02:23:09] Speaker D: It's right here. It's a top.
[02:23:14] Speaker B: Guys, as a paladin, do you do a D10 or a D12? I think it's D10, right?
[02:23:19] Speaker D: Yeah, it's D10. That's what I have on my sheet.
[02:23:22] Speaker B: Okay, excellent.
[02:23:31] Speaker D: So seven. It's just. It's just seven that you add, right? Like whatever you get in the dice.
[02:23:40] Speaker B: Your constitution modifier.
[02:23:48] Speaker E: I'm so mad that that trick dies with fellows.
[02:23:54] Speaker B: I know, but reading the spells, it's tough. I don't mean that sarcastically. Like. Happens to the best of us.
Yes. Yes, bro.
[02:24:03] Speaker C: Over a hundred hit points. Now she's at 105.
[02:24:09] Speaker B: Rose in the triple digits.
Jackie, you're in triple digits. We got a triple level Bard, baby.
[02:24:16] Speaker C: You're.
[02:24:17] Speaker B: You're a three digit bard. Taking that tough feat. Makes a difference, doesn't it?
It's just bonus, bonus, bonus, bonus. 105 RO.
[02:24:28] Speaker C: Which.
[02:24:28] Speaker B: How does that work?
[02:24:29] Speaker C: Since I'm. I'm down hit points right now, so do I need to. I need to do math?
[02:24:33] Speaker B: Just subtract them from your total. Okay. Just subtract them from their total.
[02:24:38] Speaker E: Oh, dude, our professional.
[02:24:40] Speaker B: Landon, can you hear me?
[02:24:41] Speaker A: I can Hear us.
[02:24:43] Speaker B: Level 13.
[02:24:45] Speaker A: Nice. We're level 13.0.
[02:24:48] Speaker B: We're all 13.0. 1 3. Yeah, you guys are all rolling hit points right now. And then. And then we'll end the episode. Craig, what are you at now?
[02:24:59] Speaker D: I'm at 144.
[02:25:02] Speaker B: 144.
[02:25:05] Speaker D: Yeah.
[02:25:07] Speaker B: Guys, Craig has 144 hit points.
[02:25:09] Speaker A: Holy crap, I rolled an eight.
[02:25:13] Speaker C: Noise.
[02:25:15] Speaker B: What are you at, dude?
[02:25:17] Speaker A: I'm at 113.
[02:25:20] Speaker B: Guys, everybody's in the.
[02:25:22] Speaker D: Y'all creeping up on me.
Yeah.
[02:25:27] Speaker A: Wait. I didn't have the tough feet bonus. What is that?
[02:25:30] Speaker C: Bonus plus two.
[02:25:32] Speaker B: Plus two.
[02:25:33] Speaker A: Plus two. So I have 115 tough feet.
[02:25:36] Speaker D: What is tough feet?
[02:25:37] Speaker C: Me and boss.
[02:25:39] Speaker B: Remember when you. When you level up at certain levels, you can get an ability in. In score increase or a feat. And the tough feat gives you more hit points.
[02:25:47] Speaker C: 7Th level spell slots I needed because I have zero con.
[02:25:51] Speaker B: 7Th level spell slots. And if I'm correct. That's great, Craig.
[02:25:57] Speaker D: Yeah. Is this where I get level four?
[02:26:03] Speaker B: You have your first level four spell slot. You get level four spells, dude. So remember to check. Remember to check your deep magic spells too.
What are Tello and Greta's current new hit points?
[02:26:14] Speaker E: Just lost Greta's dice in my bag, so.
[02:26:21] Speaker B: Mumble it out, dude. We can. We can roll them. You can tell us when we come back from break. That's no big deal.
[02:26:28] Speaker E: Found it.
[02:26:30] Speaker B: Okay.
[02:26:31] Speaker E: I mean, I don't. I'm. I. We also don't have.
[02:26:35] Speaker B: All right, well, level 13, seventh level spells, proficiency bonus increase. Right? Oh, my goodness. Yeah.
So remember that increases your proficient skills. That increases your spell.
[02:26:51] Speaker D: I need a better eraser.
[02:26:54] Speaker B: Guys, this is.
[02:26:55] Speaker C: I'm gonna just have to redo my sheet.
[02:26:58] Speaker B: On that thrilling note, everybody take a break.
And we will. You've got time. There's no rush. We'll go on a break. We'll come back with updated characters. Listeners, that is episode 138 of the XL Adventures. The party's level 13.
Skibidy wob. Oh, life's an incredible adventure. You're an important part of it, Skibidy wom.
[02:27:17] Speaker D: You are.
