[00:00:02] Speaker A: Welcome back to Barely D and D, your Sword of Dungeons and Dragons podcast. I am the DM now. My name is Ms. Magoo. And we're back with part two of episode 71. [00:00:18] Speaker B: 70? [00:00:20] Speaker A: What did I say? I meant 170. [00:00:25] Speaker B: Bizarrely, for some reason right now, off the top of my head, I can recall that episode 70 was the toadstools, and that was a very different episode. That was a very. My. My clearest memory of the toadstools will always be the point in the session. I don't remember what engendered it. I don't remember what happened. But Abby made two calls in a row that were really bad, and she was like, guys, I'm sorry. I'm not gonna do anything else the rest of the session. And you were like, abby, you're fine. That was one where, you know, 70. You guys were. You guys were trying to get into a biased town controlled by Kefkins, and you, like, disguised yourselves and you were like, where are the toadstools? And it just went really poorly. [00:01:03] Speaker C: Yeah, but I gained it like that all the time. [00:01:11] Speaker B: We are not going to. There's not gonna be a ton of pleasantries in waiting. No pleasantries. [00:01:16] Speaker D: Dang. [00:01:18] Speaker B: This is for my note taking nerds. This is episode 170, part two, the Lich Lord. [00:01:22] Speaker D: So I thought it was 170 and a half. And a half. [00:01:27] Speaker B: Daniel, I'm so sorry. It's episode 170 and a half. This guy. [00:01:34] Speaker D: This guy. Zach said, welcome to Varsity, because Abby is playing Greta and Tello. Daniel is playing Ron, Grimm and Craig. Also, as a note listener, we never said, but Micah was feeling really sick at the beginning and then had to hop out. And then Landon was feeling sick at the end of this session, and so. And a cloud of dark gas has appeared all around you all. I need everyone to make a constitution saving throw as cloud kill is cast around you. [00:03:46] Speaker D: Everyone within 10ft of Craig gets plus three to the roll. [00:03:51] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. [00:03:52] Speaker A: Are we. Jackie, don't forget my D4. [00:03:56] Speaker B: And, Jackie, don't forget. Yeah, yeah. [00:03:59] Speaker A: What? Am I within five or whatever? [00:04:03] Speaker B: Within everyone. [00:05:30] Speaker D: Were y' all adding plus three if you were close? [00:05:34] Speaker A: Oh, I didn't even add the plus three. [00:05:35] Speaker C: I wasn't. So Tello got. [00:05:38] Speaker B: Daniel could sense it. The DM in him was like. You guys didn't add your numbers. [00:05:43] Speaker D: Hello. [00:05:43] Speaker C: Got a 12. Greta got a 17. Three plus 18. I caught an 18. [00:05:53] Speaker D: Sixteen plus three is 19, right? [00:05:55] Speaker B: It's okay. I already did the math correctly. What did you get, Jackie? [00:05:59] Speaker A: Ro got a 22. And boss got a 23. [00:06:03] Speaker B: Excellent. These are much better numbers than the one you guys gave me a moment ago. Good call, Durn. Goal. Especially because you are trying to beat the Lich's spell save on this. So I Don't like that you guys hadn't added up those numbers. That would have been a lot worse. Now, Ro Boz and Rongrim succeed with 19s. Greta and Craig fail. No. As does Tello. So, the face Abby made. [00:06:40] Speaker D: Hey, Zach, Just for my sake. [00:06:43] Speaker B: Yes. [00:06:43] Speaker D: Does this fall in the realm of area effects for my flail snail shield, or is that more like fireball? [00:06:51] Speaker B: Yeah, that's a really good question. It is technically an area of effect spell, but it's something you're breathing in, so. Yeah, no, Very, very good question. You would need, like, a force to be coming at you. [00:07:01] Speaker A: Does Craig still breathe? [00:07:03] Speaker B: Yes, because he's no longer bound to. In fact, he very much. Well, no, no, no, no. Daniel. That was a valid question. He used to not breathe, but he does now. [00:07:13] Speaker A: Why are you asking? [00:07:16] Speaker B: Daniel's like, wow. They'll ask anything. [00:07:21] Speaker D: Wait, wait. Can I breathe? So nobody takes any damage. Guys, Heroes Feast is a powerful spell, and many adventuring parties have used it, have used it helpfully. But I think this might be the one of the most useful instances Heroes Feast has ever been to anybody. It just saved you from a cloud kill. It saved your entire invading force force from the tower's effects. Masterful choice. So nobody takes any damage, which is just phenomenal. And he already used one of his spell slots. However, at the top of initiative, I do need somebody to roll me a D4. I'll do it. I'll. Okay, got him. [00:08:28] Speaker D: Three. [00:08:31] Speaker B: Okay, number three. [00:08:32] Speaker D: My Lord. [00:08:33] Speaker B: Actions going here. No. Lord of the Tower, the foul Lord Ynt draws upon the great wells of magic flowing through the grave steeple around him for the next combat round. Lord Ynt has advantage on all attacks, and all of his attacks deal an additional three die of damage. [00:08:57] Speaker A: Ew. Ew. [00:08:59] Speaker B: Bad ew. Yeah. The sides of the tower arc with energy, and his eyes flare red as he just rises a little further up into the air, some of it whispering around his head like this corona of dark light. Why did you anyway? Oh, my goodness. The brother Ew is so. What is that next? With their readied actions, all of the skeletal figures are going to launch out against you guys. Oh, so this one is going to use its readied action to move. Move into melee with boss. [00:09:51] Speaker A: Wait, so are they? [00:09:52] Speaker B: This one? No. They were readying actions for when People, [00:10:00] Speaker C: Subclass feature restart now. [00:10:03] Speaker A: Yeah, every initial. [00:10:04] Speaker B: Which one is that? [00:10:05] Speaker A: The blessing of Blessing of the first Flame, the fire. [00:10:10] Speaker B: Does it say how many times you get to use it per rest? For a number of combat rounds. Yada, yada, yada. Fire damage. Always being sassy for no reason. I don't specify here either. That's awkward. But it definitely needs to have a duration on it. [00:11:29] Speaker A: You have a highly summarized version, Zach. [00:11:33] Speaker B: No, this is the whole version. It's embarrassing. Well, I'll tell you what, I may need to put some language around it later. But I didn't now, and I like to hold the rule that if I didn't say it, it isn't the thing. So he gets it again. Okay, so anyway, this one's going to ready its action and move all the way up against you guys. Now, their readied actions was to get up in your faces. They cannot move, thank God. Then attack. They have the one action, so that's that. However, as you all enter, this pile of bones rises up. Oh, I haven't been sending reference art. I prepared. [00:12:18] Speaker A: Oh, wow. [00:12:20] Speaker B: Hold on. Let me send them to you. [00:12:22] Speaker D: Is it Bone a comic book? [00:12:25] Speaker A: It's just a pile of sick reference. [00:12:28] Speaker B: Very in. Very in. Really good, Daniel. [00:12:33] Speaker D: The people at home are loving it. [00:12:35] Speaker B: The people at home are loving it. Okay, I'm gonna send you guys these reference picks. So this is the pictures of both the skellies you guys have been fighting, as well as the skeletal minotaur. But also rising up in the middle of the room is this massive bony snake And a. [00:12:54] Speaker A: Don't like it. [00:12:55] Speaker B: A bone Naga, if you will. [00:12:58] Speaker A: Haven't we seen one of these before? We fought one of these. [00:13:01] Speaker B: You saw. No, you completely avoided one. In the lair of the drowned witch. [00:13:08] Speaker C: Oh, yeah. [00:13:09] Speaker B: Now you're not going to. So it rises up and it uses its legend, its readied action to. It rises up and its bones clack together. And then there's just this red bolt of energy that charges up its bones and then out of its mouth and it's going to cast lightning bolt and a line going this way. Is that an area all of you except. Yes, it is an area of effect. Well, it's a line, but it gets everybody within certain range of the line. So everybody other than Boz is targeted. So I need deck saving throws from everyone other than boss. [00:13:45] Speaker D: Remember, you get a plus three. [00:13:48] Speaker B: Got a four. Four. [00:13:52] Speaker D: Okay, cool, cool, cool. I have other stuff anyway. I also am going to. I am going to use my reaction to. I feel like use for Greta. [00:14:04] Speaker B: Right. [00:14:04] Speaker D: I feel like Greta probably needs to not die as the most gobs. I'm going to roll a bunch of stuff and then. Sorry. [00:14:16] Speaker C: Hello. Got a 22. Greta got a 4O then. [00:14:21] Speaker A: Yeah, Greta does need that. Ro crazily got a 27 with all of her. [00:14:27] Speaker B: Dang. [00:14:29] Speaker A: That might be the biggest saving throw I've ever had. [00:14:31] Speaker B: Greta, you got a four with the plus three from Craig. [00:14:35] Speaker C: Is that for all of our decks? [00:14:37] Speaker D: Everything. [00:14:37] Speaker B: Yes. So one more time, if you're within 10ft of Craig +3 on a saving throw. Also, high level paladins are crazy. [00:14:46] Speaker C: So I got a seven then. [00:14:49] Speaker B: Okay. And I know that doesn't change your success on the saving throw, but I just wanted to make sure that that concept was making sense. Oh, I'm so sorry. What did Cree get? [00:15:01] Speaker D: Oh, Craig got a five. [00:15:05] Speaker B: Oh. And what did. What did wrong Grim get? [00:15:12] Speaker D: Ron grim got a 25. Very different scenario here. Also, just from the other effects I have, I'm going to take away 17 points of damage from Greta. [00:15:25] Speaker B: Phenomenal. [00:15:26] Speaker D: And then the bone Naga is also going to get hit for 17 points of damage. [00:15:30] Speaker B: Wow, that's excellent. [00:15:33] Speaker D: I'm also going to. I'm gonna reduce damage. Sorry. [00:15:43] Speaker B: Oh, I did not roll good on damage. [00:15:50] Speaker D: How much is what? [00:15:52] Speaker B: It's not going anywhere. It's not going anywhere. [00:15:56] Speaker D: I need the bone Naga to make a con save of 16. [00:16:01] Speaker B: Okay. I rolled a three. [00:16:05] Speaker D: Hell yeah. It's gonna take this terrible amount of damage, which is 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. Eight points of damage. And I reduce that for my Damage? [00:16:18] Speaker B: Yes. [00:16:19] Speaker D: Hell, yeah. 10ft of Craig. Yes. [00:16:27] Speaker B: It's everybody. So the lightning bolt outward and strikes a bunch of you all, electrocating each of you a little bit. But as it does, Rongrim holds up his flailstale shield in front of you all, and the lightning catches on it and scatters off. And for the sake of flavoring, we'll say everybody takes less damage from it because I rolled five ones on my die. And we'll say that that was part of that. Rangon putting the shield in front of everybody was part of what deflected the damage. And as he does, as he did, some of the spirits wrapped up around Greta and, like, absorb some of the harm from her. Whoever these spirits are, Greta, they have saved you quite a bit. And so everyone who failed took 19 points of damage. Everyone who succeeded took nine. [00:17:11] Speaker D: I take one. Sick. [00:17:13] Speaker B: Yep, yep. [00:17:15] Speaker C: So do I take. [00:17:19] Speaker B: Greta is going to take 19 points of damage, but that's minus 13. [00:17:24] Speaker D: Minus 17. [00:17:25] Speaker B: Oh, so two. You take two points of damage, and then Tello takes nine. Ro will take nine. [00:17:36] Speaker D: Well, he should be able to take zero, right? Any whatchamacallit. [00:17:41] Speaker B: Oh, yes. [00:17:43] Speaker A: Foz takes nine. Right. [00:17:44] Speaker B: Evasion. So Tella takes zero, Boz takes nine, and Craig takes 19. So Craig's the only person who took full damage. [00:17:52] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah. Okay, I got it. [00:17:53] Speaker B: These are the readied actions. Now we go into initiative. Oh, also, as you point this, the shield, back to this, back to the Naga, Rongrim, and you plant it down on the ground, and there's just this of energy. And then at the same time, your spirits wrap up around it and disrupt its energy. It's already looking pretty heavily hurt. Some of the bones are already struggling to hold to its form. [00:18:16] Speaker A: What kind of damage was that? [00:18:19] Speaker D: Lightning. [00:18:19] Speaker B: Lightning at the top of initiative is very unfortunately Lord in. [00:18:26] Speaker D: Damn. [00:18:27] Speaker B: That is very amazing. [00:18:31] Speaker A: So you spell his last name. I just have colosta here. [00:18:34] Speaker B: E N T. E, E, N T. He's going to drop concentration on. On cloud kill. He's just going to. Because he gets. It's not affecting you all at all. He'll point a finger at boss. No. Somebody in the front can't get to you other guys. First of all, he's gonna float 10ft this way. He's gonna start doing this. Yeah. No, no, no. He's very intelligent. He just saw you use that shield to deflect spells. He'll point at Craig. He's going to point a. A withered bony finger and he's going to say, leave your doom alone waits here. And as he does, there's just this. This little beam of red light. But crackling with power energy thrumming and pulsing with it, flies toward Craig. I need a dexterity saving throw as he casts an seventh level disintegrate. [00:20:47] Speaker D: Oh, bad. [00:20:49] Speaker B: I need a dexterity saving throw from Craig. He has a plus three on his own save here. [00:20:54] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah, not enough. I got a 15. [00:20:58] Speaker B: Can I use a reaction Unfortunate what the reaction be? [00:21:03] Speaker A: I would like to use. What's it called? I'm so sorry, I can't remember what it called. You're forgetting harmonic reconstruction. [00:21:15] Speaker B: Can you use that on anyone who's not you? [00:21:18] Speaker A: Yeah, I think I've done it before. Let me see. Let me see. [00:21:22] Speaker B: I bet you're right. [00:21:33] Speaker B: Everybody say a quick little prayer for Craig as I need to get out Most of the D6 I have in this container. So disintegrate is 10d6 plus 40. However, for every level you upcast disintegrate, you add on another 3D6 and you cast it at seventh level. So that's another 3D6. So I have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13. However, he got Lord of the of the Tower as his legendary action. So he has another 3d6. [00:22:20] Speaker D: Two spells. Not just attacks. [00:22:24] Speaker B: It's all of his damage. [00:22:26] Speaker D: Ah, [00:22:30] Speaker B: so Craig is going to take 19 D6 plus 40. [00:22:43] Speaker D: Good night, death. [00:22:44] Speaker B: I'm not gonna lie. You guys have a lot of lucky breaks to start today. And they just ran out. Okay, so 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 35, 45, 47 plus 40 is 87 points of force damage that Craig takes. So from where he is in t points at him. And as he whispers that. And the beam hits him, Craig, like, goes to move to the side, and the beam arcs in the air and strikes into him. And you all watch as. As it hits Craig, he just falls to his knees. And the sword. He catches him on his sword. He struggles and twitches, and as he does, he just. And blood coughs down his beard and his face dripping all over his armor. And you all watch as part of the tissue incorporated Craig's face degrades slightly and down his neck, and he's quaking with pain. That was Lord Ean's turn [00:23:57] Speaker D: pretty bad. [00:24:00] Speaker B: We are now going to go to. Yes, that is correct. That is correct, Jackie. Craig does have that in his possession. I don't know if that's a now thing, but it is something worth thinking about. Okay, that's Lord Eat. Next up is Tello. Rongrim is on deck. Greta's up after that. So tell. [00:24:31] Speaker C: Okay. [00:24:38] Speaker A: He had a seven. [00:24:38] Speaker B: Okay. [00:24:39] Speaker A: Doesn't matter. Don't matter. [00:24:42] Speaker C: Hello. Is going to. [00:24:47] Speaker B: He's right here. You're trying to figure out where he is. [00:24:49] Speaker C: I see him. Okay, thank you. White blob is a skeleton monster. [00:24:54] Speaker B: Yeah. So big skelly guy. Big silly guy. Skeleton snake lich. [00:24:59] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:24:59] Speaker C: Okay. He is going to. Is he within range? He is within range of the Lich. He's going to shoot with his crossbow at the lich. [00:25:09] Speaker B: I think he's going to need to move to be able to shoot anybody this well. No, that's not true. All of the people in front of him are very short, so actually he's fine. The other thing I will say is he's. He's been in a lot of serious combats. He's aware that everybody's in a big old bait ball at the moment, and he's aware that it might not be a bad idea to just start by getting out of the way by moving. [00:25:32] Speaker C: Okay. [00:25:33] Speaker B: If somebody wanted to drop an aoe, it'd be a bad time for everybody. [00:25:36] Speaker C: Okay, well, then he's gonna move. 5, 10, 15, 20, 25. [00:25:46] Speaker B: Are you moving toward the green blanket or away? [00:25:49] Speaker C: I'm moving toward the green blanket to [00:25:52] Speaker B: the 5, 10, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30. Like, gyroscopic things, those are just cosmetic. Correct. [00:26:13] Speaker B: They certainly look like magical carvings in the floor covered in glyphs. And they are glowing with power. If from this angle, he does just barely have a shot on eat next beside the bone Naga. So he can barely. Yes, that's 30. [00:26:41] Speaker C: Okay. [00:26:42] Speaker D: He could also hit the guy next to the good guy. Then he would have sneak attack. [00:26:47] Speaker B: Yeah, you can do that too. He could shoot this dude. He waits, he aims it up, he breathes, and he squeezes the trigger. And when it finally releases, the bolt flies out. Rongrim, from your position, you watch the bolt sail clean through the robes of Ynt, through the ribcage, and out the other side before it flies through the beam of energy. And you watch a bunch of the red energy burst out the back of Ynt, who like, flinches a little bit. This time he can't feel pain, but he can have some of his life energy pulled away. And as the energy flies through, Tello just puts the bolt down. Or the crossbow reloads, the bolt re cocks it, picks it back up, and he just whispers, get away from my friends and Rangrim. As you look up at eat now the energy is, like, flickering and pulsing, and he looks really seriously hurt. He looks like he's not doing well at all. Wrong, Grim, it's your turn. [01:52:10] Speaker D: I look at him, and having literally not been touched by this guy, I say, let's finish this, as all tyrants should be, as I put down my shield and I bring out Corona's Bane. But the real reason is that this is his third combat with the Fungi's, and he still hasn't gotten two crits. And that's really his only goal in playing so many sessions with them is to go crit, crit, crit. No one needs to take away from Craig's167 that holds the current Bailey D and D record. And perhaps it's the most damage anyone from Brady D and D will ever do. I mean, it's a ton. But that was 130 damage from Rongrim without vulnerabilities. Craig got 167 because the unseasing massacre was vulnerable to his radiance. That was 130 flat. That's crazy. [01:55:41] Speaker C: Wow. He just lays his shield down as he pulls out Corona's vein. And he tosses in his hands, both hands, callous from years of war and battle. Looks up to the thing and [01:56:21] Speaker B: he looks at this thing that was Lord Eames leaving the chat. [01:56:24] Speaker D: Yeah. He looks at this thing that is no longer living. And he says, I will send you back once more to the place you left long ago. As I pull out my trident and I do two stabs of this icy cold damage that like freezes him to the ground and like freezes over the runes and everything. And as I hold my trident at him, frozen all over, I bring out my sword and I say, rest in peace and Then I plunge Corona's Bane into it as it just shatters and breaks and cool things. [01:56:59] Speaker B: Daniel. That's a really cool take on that, actually. That's a really cool way to do that. Daniel or Rungrim. As you. You take. You take remnant back and you. And as you stab into him, the ice, and he gets suspended there in the air, only his head able to look around. And as you pull out your blade and you say, rest in peace, that last part, peace. Peace comes out in the many tongues of the deep magic. And you watch as. I mean, there's no. He's not alive. Whoever this human being used to be, it's not there anymore. There's just this power in it. And you watch as the head turns towards you. And for a moment, the red energy flares from the eyes and a little bit of fire comes out with it. And you just hear a. As if somebody else is looking at you in that moment. As you take the blade and you. The head, where you cut the head off, the head starts to rotate, but as the skull rotates, it's rotating. And then like, it goes to fall quickly, but then it begins falling slowly up as it starts turning to ash and drift. And you watch as the rest of the skeleton encased in ice, just simply goes relaxed and the red energy dims. And in that moment, Lord Ynt, the Lich Lord is slain. That was awesome. As the Lich Lord is slain, you all stand there at the top of the tower. Craig is like. Just like. As the Lichlord's magic's died, Craig finally rolls over and throws up some blood and goes. He picks up his sword and he goes, good one, guys. Good guys. It's a good one. And you guys just take a moment to pant and breathe. Greta, you take your broom, you aim it up, and you are able to fly up kind of over the layer of the magic. Now it's still kind of spiraling up, but as you watch the magic pulse and you're having trouble getting by, you watch the magic. And as Lord Ynt dies, the tower quits conducting the magical energy up toward Blackfang, and the ward dissipates from its angle, and you can now on focus freely sail back in with your allies. As everybody lands, everyone collects themselves and breathes for a moment. You all take. You take stock of the world around you here in this ruined place, this land of death. You all watch as this tower is smoking. This one is rubble off in the distance. You don't see anything with that tower, but it's no longer producing red energy. Yours has fallen quiet. There's only one left. Only one standing on the far side of Black Fang. You can barely make it out from here. As you all are surveying the distance, could those proficient in arcana make me. Arcana checks real quick. [02:00:22] Speaker C: I would like to. [02:00:27] Speaker D: We two buff guys just are pushing our muscles out. [02:00:34] Speaker A: That's a 30 for RO. Did you get a 31? It needs to be destroyed. [02:01:55] Speaker A: I yell out, we need to destroy that. [02:01:59] Speaker C: Yeah. I fly up and I grab it off of his neck. [02:02:03] Speaker B: It's caked in ice. [02:02:04] Speaker C: Okay. I grab up, I fly up and I scratch at it. I don't know. [02:02:09] Speaker B: Okay. [02:02:10] Speaker D: Wrong. [02:02:10] Speaker B: You look up, you look up as a two. A two and a half century old woman flies up to ice and starts going with her human nails. Her noma's nails. Yeah. [02:02:24] Speaker D: I think this will cut better. [02:02:26] Speaker B: And Ron Grim Corona's bane is so magically sharp that as you hold its tip up against the ice and begin pushing, it just cuts through the ice, just pushes through it and it's got this weird grinding, this like sound. And as you do, you finally get to its layer and you and the ice fractures and you're able to reach in and with your incredible strength pull it apart and you pull the necklace away as some of the bone around it frag shatters. There's still ice caked on it, but you're holding it in your hand. It's cold and heavy in the touch. [02:03:00] Speaker C: I asked the party. I'd say we just have to destroy. Destroy it right [02:03:06] Speaker B: Craig goes. Good point. And he takes out of wrong. Grim's hand drops on the ground, and he goes, wrong Grim. And he lifts his sword up over his head. And I need both of you guys to make attack rolls. Oh, yeah, I'll roll for Craig. You roll for longer. [02:03:20] Speaker D: Okay, I'm recklessly attacking, just so you know. And as Star Splinter scrapes off to the side, not because it is any less an impressive weapon. It's a powerful vestige of the elder age of the platinum age. It's one of the most powerful paladinic weapons in existence, if not V. But Craig's just still recovering from 87 damage. And. Yeah. So as his arm falls limply to the side and he kind of stumbles. He could barely really wield the sword over his head. Vongre, you measure the pendant rolls slightly to the side, and you just measure your shot. [02:05:15] Speaker D: And [02:05:17] Speaker B: as you pierce down on it, you watch as the center tine from remnant pierces into the eye. And for a second, it embeds in the ruby. And the fire's burning down, but nothing's happening. And you just push until you stab into the crystal, shattering it, and the metal splits apart. And as it does, the pendant just splits. And then this little black mote of light leaves it. And you guys take a breath of silence. And then this huge fissure cracks the floor of the tower. And then you all watch the pillars. [02:06:06] Speaker A: Do we need to get out of here? [02:06:10] Speaker B: And Tello goes. That doesn't look ideal. [02:06:13] Speaker A: No. [02:06:14] Speaker B: You all watch as the tower is beginning to crumble. [02:06:17] Speaker C: Yeah, I grab Tello and I put him on my broom. [02:06:20] Speaker B: Okay. Tello runs over and jumps on the broom. [02:06:23] Speaker A: How many people can be on the broom? Just two. [02:06:25] Speaker B: Craig. Craig, like, takes a breath. He, like, raises Godspring's wings up, which are still going. And he reaches over and he grabs Boz and begins lifting up into the air. Four of the party members are taken care of. We still have Ro and Rangrim. [02:06:39] Speaker A: How high in the air is. How high? How high in the air is the. [02:06:49] Speaker B: 50. 50. [02:06:51] Speaker A: I'm gonna. I'm gonna. Are there undead below us? [02:06:57] Speaker B: Quite a few. And in fact, it's about this time that you guys can hear as they're coming up the stairs. [02:07:04] Speaker C: So it makes sense to. And then I like, kind of with my wing, like I'm a giant, bro. [02:08:35] Speaker B: Obviously, understanding the gesticulation can climb aboard. And as the two of you take off now, all six fungi and friend leaving the tower, you all watch as it's only four or five, six seconds later, the skeletons begin swarming up to the top level. 20, 30, 40, 60 of them, all rushing to the top. And more flooding up the tower. The tower just. Crashes to the ground, crushing powderizing hundreds of skeletons, which you get the XP for, by the way. And the six of you all begin raising into the air, flying forward. And you all take this moment to look at the landscape. The far tower in the distance. Yes. [02:09:27] Speaker C: Well, I want to do something once you're done describing the cool scene. [02:09:31] Speaker B: Okay, Excellent. We'll reserve the spot. You all look to the far tower of the Lichord on the other side of Blackfang, and you all watch as there's little activity until the clouds part slightly, and then there's just this beam of light that pierces the entire storm. And the top of the tower lights up for a moment, and then the beam dissipates, and the clouds pull back together. And you guys are just flying before. You watch the tower start to. It's too far away to hear, but you watch the tower just start to rotate and fall. The furthest one, the last one. [02:10:14] Speaker A: That's the last one to fall. Right. All the others. [02:10:16] Speaker B: So as you all are flying toward Blackfang, the fifth team, whoever they were, complete their work, whether they were still on the tower or not. And the tower begins falling. [02:10:27] Speaker A: So everyone, whether or not they are [02:10:31] Speaker B: dead or not, lived, and which is quite a success. Without their aid, you all wouldn't be able to get in Black Fang. Also, I've been rolling D20s while you guys were doing combat, just to keep a track of other things. Yes. Gribbles. [02:10:51] Speaker C: As we're flying, Greta is. Can she have the sending stone, even though it's normally in Craig's mouth? [02:11:00] Speaker B: Yes, sure. For this moment. [02:11:03] Speaker C: So first she grips the stone in, like, her palm as she's flying the broom. And she just. And then she pants again. Understood. Fly, Fly. And you guys look back over your shoulder as a gold dragon is dipping over a field and bursting fire. [02:11:56] Speaker C: Cool. As she. As she's doing that, she's just gonna, like. Like, she's just gonna keep. She's gonna think of each of her allies that she met and, and she's just going to repeat that in is gone. Keep going. We can do it. Make her be with you. And she's just going to like call people and call people and call people and just like not even waiting for a response. Just like boom, boom, boom to everyone that she can think of. And then once she cycles through it again, she like does it again and she's just like. [02:12:25] Speaker B: It's a blur, Greta. You will fly over thousands and thousands and thousands more of undead. They really were just distracting from you all. And as you all soar over the throngs and the masses of moving bone and hateful volition, all of your stomachs sink. Because you did it. You defeated the lords. But in front of you, spiraling up into the sky until it seems almost to pierce the low hanging storm above, is the most hateful work of stone you've ever seen in your life. Like a funnel of flame frozen in stone that gets comically narrow up to the top. The black obsidian reflects the ladder a little bit of light from the landscape. And you feel as you look at it, like it's swallowing your hope. And all of you just hear in your ears as you fly closer. Come, come and Meet your. It's crazy to be going through these episodes. I was telling Hoffon, break, these are. I. I plan a lot of things, so there are a lot of moments in our campaigns that are like, oh, that was so interesting. And I thought about. I have been planning these sessions in these moments for years. It's crazy. I was telling Hoffa, like, it's weird to be playing these sessions because it feels like I'm watching Avengers endgame again. Except, like, we made it and we wrote it. Like it. Like what? [02:15:52] Speaker C: Yeah. [02:15:52] Speaker B: This is crazy. Let's talk levels. So you all defeated the CR21 Lich Lord Int as well as. And you defeated him in his lair, which is additional XP for me. Not a lot, but a tiny little bit. You also defeated all of his forces, including four functional stat blocks of Minotaurs. I flavored them differently before Minotaurs and a Bone Naga and a couple hundred skeletons. I didn't do the exact numbers for all the skeletons and numbers. I kind of. I averaged them together and reduced them by a lot. I'm not giving you credit for every single skeleton. That'd be crazy. But like, the ones that were. The ones that were crushed by the tower, I came up with a chunk. [02:16:37] Speaker C: I just want to make sure you got that one that Greta killed on accident. I don't know if maybe it's less XP because you killed it on accident. [02:16:41] Speaker B: I did. But for all the ones you defeated in combat, I got the exact numbers for. I just gave you a little extra for all the other skeletons that died. And you get a little more for destroying the phylactery. So having just leveled up the Fungi's gain another 0.155 levels. [02:17:02] Speaker C: Wow. [02:17:04] Speaker B: That's a big old chunk of levels. Wrong. Grim. You gained 106. [02:17:10] Speaker D: Whoa. Heck yeah. [02:17:38] Speaker B: And trust me when I say whether it makes you feel good or bad, there's a nauseating amount of XP waiting ahead of you. [02:17:46] Speaker C: So I can. I just. I want to. Like. I used 1, 2, 3, 4 spells. [02:17:57] Speaker B: It's a pretty good ratio. [02:17:59] Speaker C: I feel like I used. [02:18:01] Speaker A: I had boss only use two spell slots, and I only used two spell slots because I used a lot of can trips. [02:18:09] Speaker B: Yeah, that's the other thing too. The Fungi's didn't just defeat a lich, they defeated a Lich without using a spell above fifth level. [02:18:18] Speaker A: Yeah, that was crazy. [02:18:20] Speaker C: I feel really good because two of my. I'm like. Two of my spell slots are like. Those will last. [02:18:26] Speaker A: Mm. [02:18:28] Speaker C: Aid lasts for eight hours. [02:18:30] Speaker B: A very good session to have a couple. That's one of the things I really love about that fight. And we won't keep going forever. We'll leave some of this for a third watch or something or who knows. But we should really do one again soon. It'd be very fun. But one of the. One of the things I really enjoyed about that fight is it really. You know, there are some fights where the spellcasters shine, and that is a fight where the melee characters shine.
