[00:00:00] Speaker A: Welcome back to Barely.
[00:00:00] Speaker B: No, it's only just started.
[00:00:02] Speaker A: Welcome back to Barely D and D, your Sword of Dungeons and Dragons podcast.
[00:00:11] Speaker B: I'm concerned by the significant take Abby has made.
[00:00:15] Speaker A: Abby's mouth is 2 inches from the microphone.
[00:00:19] Speaker B: Watching that orb, I like.
We. There's. There's a lot of. No, this is the same one I've had the entire time you've known me.
We've had a lot of energy going into this, no matter what. But there's something. Abby's taking a real turn.
Welcome back to Barely D and D. It's clearly your sort of Judges and Dragons podcast. This is not Accidental Adventures, and you could probably tell from a lot of things.
We are bringing you another wonderful one shot.
[00:00:47] Speaker A: I don't know, from the title that you clicked on.
Sorry.
No, he's already.
[00:00:53] Speaker B: I'm adding a hit point.
[00:00:55] Speaker C: Isn't it a different picture?
[00:00:57] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:00:57] Speaker A: On the COVID Two hit points.
[00:00:59] Speaker B: It is.
Keep going, keep going, keep going. I don't. These characters are not in a campaign. It does not matter what happens.
[00:01:06] Speaker A: Rafina cannot die before she has Ro.
[00:01:09] Speaker C: Okay?
[00:01:09] Speaker B: So I need one of them to make it out. But Argyle.
[00:01:12] Speaker A: No, I'm just kidding. Argyle is her real father.
[00:01:15] Speaker D: Sacrifice.
[00:01:16] Speaker B: Anybody know how you spell Argylle? It's expendable.
[00:01:19] Speaker A: No one. But you just heard what I just said. That Argyle is Rose. Ro. Father.
As you can see, we're playing the courageous Gor.
[00:01:34] Speaker B: Okay. Okay. Barely any alcohol consumed. Yeah. This is just us, so.
[00:01:38] Speaker D: All right.
[00:01:39] Speaker B: Welcome back. We are. It's. It's another courageous core adventure, which is really fun.
[00:01:44] Speaker C: I think you say a courageous core.
I think it's courageous.
[00:01:52] Speaker B: I'm just gonna start adding hit points. Let me tell you're the silent pea in here. Okay, that doesn't sound very silent, man.
[00:02:03] Speaker C: Thank you, man. You know, it's people.
[00:02:06] Speaker A: Our house should have done the ones right.
[00:02:08] Speaker C: People don't really say nice things to me that much anymore, but that really means a lot to me.
[00:02:11] Speaker B: What do you mean?
[00:02:12] Speaker A: Ravina's your best friend.
[00:02:14] Speaker C: Yeah. It doesn't mean you say nice things to me.
[00:02:16] Speaker B: Whoa.
So anyway, this is. Wow. We really come back with the energy. We're playing Creatures Core, which is really crazy because we were super done with that. I thought the nail was in the coffin. I'm gonna finish a sentence. Oh, my goodness. I really.
Yes, go ahead. I had nothing to say.
Yes. No, it's fine. I'm throwing a fit now. Jackie, go ahead.
Okay.
[00:02:41] Speaker A: I was finding my character sheet of Ravenna's, and the last time we Played her or the last time we played Creator score was on February 6, 2023. And it is the day that we're playing it. It's February 6, 2026. So there's a date.
[00:02:57] Speaker B: That's wild.
[00:02:58] Speaker A: We are put. That was a 1 in 365 chance, actually.
[00:03:02] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:03:02] Speaker B: Yeah. Hey, nice.
[00:03:03] Speaker A: Math, math, math.
[00:03:07] Speaker B: Anyway, you know what the energy is right now? The energy is very somar camp right now. And I don't know what it's very somar camp at the moment, but anyway, so I really thought the nail was in the coffin on this series.
I don't know. We hadn't played in three years, but clearly it's back. And this is part of our run of one shots where as the accidental adventures are a little more sparse, we're filling in with this. So.
Well, we'll go thing by thing. Oh, and also me, Abby, Jackie, Noah is back. The wonderful Noah.
But it's really pretty great. We need to start having him on more. It's fun. It's fun for the one shots and stuff.
[00:03:48] Speaker C: I think he would have a really good time at Saved by the Spell.
[00:03:53] Speaker B: Yeah. I don't know. Maybe. Maybe we need to throw you in there, dude.
[00:03:57] Speaker D: I. I am not familiar with.
[00:03:58] Speaker B: I haven't thought of all the places you could guess.
[00:04:00] Speaker C: Yeah, I just wanted to say I had to look in my old dandy notebook to find. Oh, there's Jeffrey.
[00:04:07] Speaker A: That's Jeffrey.
[00:04:09] Speaker B: You found him. Whoa. Because I remember when you could not find him.
[00:04:14] Speaker C: To find Argyle, I had to look in my old D and D notebook, which I wouldn't have thought to do unless I had been moving stuff around like an hour before it was over. And I found it, and I was like, it's probably in there. So in honor of oldness, I'm gonna take notes in my old.
[00:04:33] Speaker B: That's fun.
That's fun.
[00:04:35] Speaker C: Which was also my math notebook and my civil math book.
[00:04:38] Speaker B: Dude, literally. Yeah.
[00:04:40] Speaker D: Like your whole life is in those pages.
[00:04:42] Speaker C: Well, like high school. Yeah, like the first ever. Barely. D and D notes are in here.
[00:04:47] Speaker A: So I have mine. Mine's in the same drone since day one.
[00:04:50] Speaker B: You know, it's gonna be really fun when. When decades have passed and these experiences are long behind us and you're like, holy crap, my D and D notes. That's crazy. Anyway, that makes me sad. Well, no, it's. Hey, hey. A thing's not beautiful because it lasts.
[00:05:06] Speaker D: Moral of the story is, take good notes. It's a love letter to yourself. Years down the road.
[00:05:11] Speaker B: No.
So. Oh, Anyway, I had a disconnected thought.
Note taking nerds.
Tradition.
All right. Note taking nerds. This is Adventure four of the Courageous Corps.
Impractical jokes.
So courageous Core Adventure 4, which rhymes. Impractical jokes.
And that's fun because this is.
We are playing this on 26. 26. Exactly three years after we played it the first time. And the title is Courageous 4. Courageous Core Adventure 4. Everything Rhymes Today, which is just fun.
So it was practical joke.
[00:05:55] Speaker C: Impractical joke.
[00:05:56] Speaker B: Impractical jokes. Yeah. Courageous Core Adventure 4.
[00:06:00] Speaker D: One letter off from a lawsuit.
[00:06:02] Speaker B: Yeah, but we're not quite there.
Joker's.
I know.
[00:06:08] Speaker A: That's what I said.
[00:06:09] Speaker C: I said it's a good show.
[00:06:10] Speaker B: Yeah, but he said it second. And then I laughed when he said it. So I'm sorry, Jackie. I'm sorry. I didn't mean that.
[00:06:16] Speaker D: I'm sorry.
[00:06:17] Speaker B: I didn't even hear you.
[00:06:18] Speaker D: I'm sorry.
I prefer the term I'm deaf and can't hear.
[00:06:25] Speaker B: Oh, my goodness. No, I think she was talking about me, not you. But okay, so let's get into some lore and setting. So importantly, things. Oh, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Level seven adventure.
It is 3234pb.
[00:06:39] Speaker A: So that is just for the note taking.
[00:06:43] Speaker B: Whatever. Just for the nerd taking. Nerves.
[00:06:46] Speaker A: The last session took place in 30 news.
[00:06:51] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:06:52] Speaker A: So it's been what, 10, 12. 12 years?
[00:06:53] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:06:55] Speaker C: Wait a minute.
[00:06:56] Speaker A: The last time we.
[00:06:58] Speaker B: When?
[00:06:58] Speaker A: No, not after admin accidentally.
[00:07:03] Speaker B: 200 years before accidental adventures. But 12 years after last time we played this.
Yeah.
[00:07:08] Speaker A: What is this? What is the year?
[00:07:11] Speaker B: 3234.
So last time we played it was in 3222. Now it's 3234. Oh.
[00:07:16] Speaker A: So okay. And then what was the other thing you said?
[00:07:20] Speaker B: Bylskond the seventh. That is B Y, A L, L, apostrophe S, K, O, N D. But you guys know as like. Like the beginning of summer. Warm, pleasant months, depending on where you are.
[00:07:33] Speaker D: It's the seventh of the NFL.
[00:07:41] Speaker B: Yes, Scribble. Do you have a question?
Is your question about to be what any of your features do?
Jingle Boogler? Why does your why is written in.
[00:07:54] Speaker A: Pen Googler.
[00:07:59] Speaker B: In PE In Abby's player's handbook? On the monk page is Jinkle Boogler. And none of us know why.
And she's had that page open for half an hour. She just looked down and went, jinkle Booger.
I think you said that about Jackie.
[00:08:18] Speaker C: When we were at Jackie's house last.
[00:08:19] Speaker B: Oh, my goodness.
[00:08:21] Speaker A: Jinkle and me, Jinkle Jinkler.
[00:08:24] Speaker B: So I said, jinkle Buggler. And you were like, better write that in pen in my player's handbook on the monk page. And they just stopped printing them.
[00:08:33] Speaker A: That's gonna be worth money someday.
[00:08:37] Speaker B: Oh, my goodness.
It's gonna be like a Christie's auction.
[00:08:41] Speaker D: 400 years from now.
[00:08:43] Speaker C: Okay, I did have a real thing that I wanted to say.
[00:08:45] Speaker B: Yeah. Oh, so I haven't even started the session, so don't get it.
[00:08:49] Speaker C: That's been 12 years. Is it safe to assume that our characters have done things like started and.
[00:08:55] Speaker B: Not to call you out? I messaged you guys in Discord about a whole, like, hey, let me know what your characters have been up to.
But how about this? Let's do this. Let's do this. Let's.
How? Let me get started, right? And then I have Lore to read.
And then after that, there will be a spam when you guys can be like, my character's been up to this, but that will contextualize the listener. And then we can skibidi wap that. And Donna, you know what I mean?
Really pushing the line today. So hold on.
Okay, so I think I know what music I'll have to start with, but let me, Let me.
I need to minimize that screen so I've got room for the other one. Okay, so.
Lore and setting. A decade on from their earlier adventures, Tellozhay, the founder and head of the courageous corps, Tellojer has become successful enough that he has begun to meaningfully construct his true dream. A living emporium for the gather of Yalabrand's arcane relics, where such items can be collected, cataloged, studied, and sold into the possession of those with whom he believes they can truly be trusted. Teluger still works to complete his monstronomicon of phenomenal creatures, and still adventures from time to time. But his increasing responsibility to his studies and enterprise have greatly divided his attentions.
As such, he has begun relying more and more on other members on the other members of the courageous corps to venture into the world on his behalf. This group is summoned a handful of times every couple of years, sometimes with Telugee and sometimes without his leadership. And are sent to search for more magical items, items and documents. Oh, my goodness.
And are sent to search for more magical items and to document more incredible creatures for their ally and employer. Oh, my goodness. Jackie already has it printed.
To this task, he has trusted his companion, Ravena Greenbottle, his companions Ravena Greenbottle and Argyle of many years, whose last name I still don't think I have.
Does he even have one?
Have you scooted her paper further under her player's handbook? So I'm gonna go. No, I think his last name is Jinklebuggler.
[00:11:21] Speaker A: That's name to which he has trusted.
[00:11:24] Speaker B: His close companions Ravena Greenbottle and Argyle Jinkelbuggler of many years.
It is. I won't. I won't.
It is also to these two unlikely individuals that Tellurge has entrusted the care of his most precious. I mean, possession is the wrong word. But those of those things most preciously in his care.
[00:11:41] Speaker A: Which is honestly crazy.
[00:11:44] Speaker B: The juvenile black dragon whom the groom unwittingly rescued. Zeras.
Just for anyone who's forgotten from window taking nerds. That's X E R R A S. I typed it wrong in the discord when I sent you the message. Xeris is X E R R a S and his now more recently hatched sister Thern T H U R N N and just as a little quick update there for the players. The last time we played there was one. Yeah. There was a dragon wormling in your employee or when you're in your over under your care, there are now two. Because that blue egg you guys had in your possession hatched.
[00:12:22] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:12:22] Speaker A: So where is she?
[00:12:24] Speaker B: She is. She's a blue dragon.
[00:12:26] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:12:26] Speaker B: There's a black dragon and a blue dragon.
[00:12:28] Speaker A: And how is he still considered a wyrmling now?
[00:12:30] Speaker B: Not anymore. We'll get to that. We'll get to that. It's been 12 years.
He's still very young because dragons take a long time to grow up. But he is not a Wyrmling anymore. Which also Listener, if you're like, oh my. Actually, that's not how the time. Yeah, well, it works for the store.
The two nascent Chromatic Dragons are manageable for the time, largely due to Xerus intense feelings of loyalty to his adoptive caretakers. But it is becoming increasingly difficult to protect the creatures of legend from a world which would violently fear them. They're also two young Chromatic Dragons. And you are finding that though their nurture is helping quite a bit, their nature peeks through and they are not.
They are young little forms of the most powerful and destructive creatures in the world.
[00:13:17] Speaker D: So how heavy in pounds is Thern?
[00:13:21] Speaker B: Thern is a wyrmling.
Hold on, hold on. Let me see how big she is.
Got this Mac'd.
[00:13:30] Speaker A: She's just a little baby.
[00:13:32] Speaker B: She's a baby, but she ain't little.
She's already medium as a wyrmling. Which is yalls size class.
So I'd say she's probably like right now she's like 8 or 6 years old. I'd say she's probably like 280, 290.
She's real big.
[00:13:58] Speaker D: Throw you like a football.
[00:13:59] Speaker B: Yeah.
So to wrap that up, as Ravenna received a plea of aid from a small town in northern lore Less than three weeks ago, the pair Ravenna and Argyle have gathered up their illusory guarded dragon youth, employed the aid of a trusted ally and are now two weeks at sea on a trusted ship. I use trusted twice. Sailing towards an unknown challenge ahead. Now, I want to take a moment to Powells there and I want to give Ravena and Argyle a little time to talk about what they've been doing in the last 12 years. So you have regularly been meeting up together and going on adventures together and often with.
But you've also had quite a bit of time on your own. So what has the last more than a decade looked like for you?
Why is that not possible?
[00:14:51] Speaker A: Yes, that's what I said.
[00:14:53] Speaker C: Well, so my name is Dargao and I like. I'm pretty in a high demand to be an adventurer.
[00:15:00] Speaker B: My goodness.
[00:15:01] Speaker C: You know, they just need me a lot. They like to have me a lot.
[00:15:04] Speaker A: Hey.
[00:15:04] Speaker B: I'm so sorry. What's your wi fi?
Moose.
[00:15:08] Speaker D: Delicious.
[00:15:09] Speaker B: I. Okay. I have my suspicion.
[00:15:11] Speaker D: Yes.
[00:15:11] Speaker B: That it was mooselicious, not the world.
Yeah. And what are they gonna do? Come here.
[00:15:17] Speaker D: Dollar sign.
[00:15:18] Speaker B: Dollar sign.
[00:15:19] Speaker D: Lowercase N. Lowercase N. I'll just say if it's capital A, I L. Capital D.
A Y.
[00:15:29] Speaker B: 0303 0606.
Okay, cool. All right. Sorry, Argyle, you are. I'm actually so.
[00:15:39] Speaker C: No, I wasn't. I was just sharing my importance.
[00:15:43] Speaker B: I was just sharing my importance.
[00:15:46] Speaker C: I'm in really high demand as an adventurer because I'm so skilled. I've got a lot of skills, but when I'm not, I was in on.
[00:15:55] Speaker B: Demand because I'm so skilled and I've got a lot of skills.
[00:15:59] Speaker C: I'm not, you know, being awesome in the field.
I've been really honing my business skills with my business CEO partner, Ravina and Aladda. In the time that we're not like, you know, being really cool.
Yeah. Helping with one of the most important magical institutions in the world.
We started a tea shop in Homecove.
[00:16:32] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:16:32] Speaker C: In Homecove.
[00:16:33] Speaker D: Sure.
[00:16:34] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:16:34] Speaker C: We have a tea shop in Holm Cove and we grow all kinds of tea and we're trying to just really create it. So that it can be like. Like a space where if you don't want to be at your home, but if you don't also want to be at your work, you could go there and be there instead.
And where you don't have to be drinking.
And it's, you know, it's like. It's not like you can drink, but it's like, we encourage, like, it's like a. It's like. Like a place where you can be and also not be drunk.
[00:17:07] Speaker B: It's really impressive how after three. Three years, you have melted right back into the, like, kind of rambling stutter that comes at the end of his sentences.
What's the name of the tea shop?
Yeah, let's not. We don't know what it is.
[00:17:25] Speaker D: It's named Hasbro.
I. I am not suicidal.
[00:17:37] Speaker B: I've killed the dm.
I'm so sorry. That's okay.
Jeez. No. You sniped with your joke.
You don't say anything for 10 minutes, and then you spit out my. I did not intend for you to be drinking. That's okay. That was really funny.
That was really funny.
[00:17:59] Speaker A: So much.
[00:18:00] Speaker B: Yeah, a bunch. It filled my hand.
[00:18:02] Speaker D: I was worried.
[00:18:02] Speaker B: I'm like, I don't know the Heimlich for liquid.
[00:18:04] Speaker D: What do I do?
[00:18:06] Speaker B: I've. I've had a lot of. I've had. I've had whiskey come out of my nose on this podcast, but I've yet to have. I've yet to have anything come out of my mouth. That was good, dude. That was really good.
What's the name of the tea shop?
How about we come back to it?
[00:18:22] Speaker A: Yeah, I don't even. I think it's just called Argyle.
[00:18:24] Speaker B: Weren't you saying something about, like, bro Bruise in the past or something?
[00:18:27] Speaker A: Oh, Bro Bruise. That's what the name of your shop used to be. But that was your dream.
[00:18:32] Speaker D: I was stuffing to.
[00:18:35] Speaker B: Okay, well, we'll come back to this, cuz I was just.
[00:18:37] Speaker A: Argy.
[00:18:38] Speaker B: I really don't. Argy?
[00:18:40] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:18:41] Speaker C: Argyle's teeth.
[00:18:42] Speaker A: Yeah. Raina didn't want to take your thunder. She knows how you are. Plus you didn't offer.
[00:18:48] Speaker C: She knows how you are.
[00:18:49] Speaker A: Plus you didn't offer anything else for.
[00:18:52] Speaker B: Argyle in the last decade.
[00:18:55] Speaker C: I mean, I would just say that, like, we, like, clearly he's grown up a lot, like, having, like, spaces.
[00:19:03] Speaker B: Oh, my goodness.
[00:19:04] Speaker A: And I talk to the plants before we brew them in the tea to make sure that they're like.
[00:19:08] Speaker B: That's so dark.
That's so dark.
[00:19:11] Speaker A: Let me speak to you about Something else that our guy looks over.
[00:19:15] Speaker C: He's like, I didn't know she was.
[00:19:19] Speaker A: Who are we telling this to?
[00:19:21] Speaker B: No one.
[00:19:22] Speaker A: Let me.
[00:19:23] Speaker C: Let me.
[00:19:24] Speaker B: It's. This isn't the style of the office.
[00:19:27] Speaker D: They're just cutting to interviews.
[00:19:29] Speaker B: All right, what's Raveena been up to in the last decade?
[00:19:32] Speaker A: On top of helping out with the tea shop and of course, helping Teller J and doing a lot of cataloguing for him. When they're not on adventures, she has been just touring locally. And every now and then, she'll go off somewhere to play her songs.
And she's just doing what she wanted to do many years ago is be able to take her loop places and play it and just be a performer without the danger of adventure. She loves the danger of adventure, and she does that when she's with the Creators Corps. But it's nice to be able to tour around taverns. And I feel like at this point, she's level seven. She's been making a little bit of a name for herself.
[00:20:18] Speaker B: Yeah. Doing her own thing as well.
[00:20:20] Speaker A: And some people do know who Ravina Green was. Bottle is as like, this barred in.
[00:20:24] Speaker B: The world a little bit.
[00:20:25] Speaker A: And, like, she spends a lot of time at home. Coat with the tea shop and locales at home. But she travels out here and there a few months since and does some touring and then comes back and works.
[00:20:38] Speaker B: Heck, yeah.
Excellent. Excellent, excellent. I want to point out really quickly, I'm not just stroking your ego, how impressive it is, how fully distinct that voice is from Rose. That's hard to do because they're similar and there's characters.
[00:20:52] Speaker D: That's tough.
[00:20:52] Speaker B: Good job.
Phenomenal.
And so you all have been up to those activities.
So, Ravina, it was about three weeks ago they got this message all of a sudden one day from a stranger you didn't know asking you to come to the northern town of Seneff.
My note. Taking note, that is Se M E T H Semoth, a town in northern lore.
[00:21:26] Speaker A: Oh, that's what I wrote.
[00:21:29] Speaker B: A small island nation between Unson and Jozd.
[00:21:34] Speaker D: L o r r. Right.
[00:21:35] Speaker B: Yes. L o r r. The same as. The same as the one that holds Legaf. Much later on in our story.
Which exists. I know. I was gonna say it exists. Yeah, it exists now. I would love to go to Wolver. We're going to Samath, but we'll focus on the ones that I've read.
[00:21:55] Speaker A: How far is it from logout? I'm not saying we want to go there. I'm saying, like, as Far as other side, just logistically. So I know like north side east.
[00:22:06] Speaker B: So no, Legathe's in the south, Semif is in the north.
[00:22:09] Speaker A: Oh, gotcha.
[00:22:10] Speaker B: But probably like a days a day's travel by ship, maybe even less. And then on foot, probably like a couple days, 200 years later. Oh, where? Where? Same. Same landmass.
[00:22:30] Speaker D: Yeah. Okay, I was wondering.
[00:22:31] Speaker B: Yeah, I've heard that one before. Okay. It's an intentional fun little tie in.
[00:22:34] Speaker D: That's fun.
[00:22:35] Speaker C: Okay, if I do this, do you?
[00:22:36] Speaker B: Yeah, follow your dreams, dude.
So you, you spoke with Telegree, but he was embroiled in work and projects and so you, you gathered up Argyll and knowing that you'd probably need a little more reinforcement, who is it you've brought with you on your journey?
[00:22:55] Speaker D: Okay, you guys don't know.
[00:22:58] Speaker A: How did we find you?
So did I put out a message you think, or something?
[00:23:03] Speaker D: I my thoughts. And there was like hardly any workshopping on this. I just told him what I was thinking of was that Nekhtan Moore is an 8 foot tall ripped rogue.
[00:23:16] Speaker C: Wait, how do you spell that?
[00:23:17] Speaker D: Necron N, E, C, H, T A N.
And then mor is just M.
[00:23:24] Speaker B: O R.
Hey, can you get closer to the mic?
Yummy.
[00:23:31] Speaker D: Am I just talking too quiet?
[00:23:32] Speaker B: It's like, I think it's getting you. It's just barely shutting up a sound. No, no, you're fine, you're fine. That was weird. But we're good. Sorry.
[00:23:39] Speaker D: So 8 foot tall gif, he has very red long hair tied in a tight bun on the back of his head.
[00:23:48] Speaker B: Phenomenal.
[00:23:50] Speaker D: And you know, being a gif, he's like a hippo person. So very obviously very stocky, medium sized, dark gray skin.
He's got kind of nicks and scratches from old encounters. He's a rogue.
My thought was that he maybe is looking to do slightly less cutthroat work and he maybe just happened to be in the area somehow heard about Teluge, maybe through criminal contacts, I don't know. And I guess, would you like to.
[00:24:27] Speaker B: Be involved with the crime organization?
Yes.
You want to be from the area or do you want to be from other places?
[00:24:34] Speaker D: Let's be from the area.
[00:24:36] Speaker B: Okay, go ahead and put down on your character sheet that you are a member of La Bonave. I know that that's a mess to spell. Okay, so that is going to be L apostrophe P A U M E. So La pom. And then the second word is O, U, V E, R T E. Yeah, that was my foot.
[00:24:57] Speaker A: Sorry, I Took it.
[00:24:58] Speaker B: Yeah.
And in Sydney, it literally means the open hand. And the symbol is just a hand that's upward turned open.
[00:25:05] Speaker D: I actually put as a language. Insane.
[00:25:08] Speaker B: So, Noah. Noah. We're doing good stuff, dude.
[00:25:11] Speaker D: Yay.
[00:25:12] Speaker B: You were saying?
[00:25:13] Speaker D: Yeah, he's just. He's got a kind of old leather studded armor again, kind of. Kind of nicked and scratched it almost. If it weren't a different color, you wouldn't really be able to tell the difference.
[00:25:23] Speaker B: Oh, my goodness. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's cool.
[00:25:26] Speaker D: Yeah. And he's got a big old. Big old, like pretty simple plain cloak that falls around his shoulders and kind of comes into the front. So if his hands are down, it covers a lot of them, you know, to hide potential weapons or what have you.
[00:25:41] Speaker B: I guess he's just on the ship, right? Yeah.
[00:25:44] Speaker D: Heck yeah.
[00:25:44] Speaker B: So you. You've been.
You reached out to.
You were seeking more legitimate work, and so you reached out to the Ravina Green ball and. Or maybe. Or maybe you put out the summons. However you want to do that, Jackie, for work.
[00:25:56] Speaker D: Either way.
[00:25:56] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:25:57] Speaker D: I could have just found it.
[00:25:59] Speaker B: And you are in their employee. You know that you are. You are basically working for Ravenna and that all of you all are working for this guy named Taylor somewhere at home co.
And so you all have been on the ship for three weeks, sailing all the way from up in the Earthen bloom all the way down to by unsen to this land of lore. You're right. Almost there now with you. Telejae has sent the two youngins, Zeras and Thern. Now they are importantly disguised, so Telege has made for them magical items. Each of them wear this metal band on their like, kind of like ankle, wrist on their forelimb.
Yes.
[00:26:44] Speaker A: I'm sorry, when you said that, I just pictured like E.T. in the dress.
[00:26:51] Speaker B: Has a big mustache and E.T. just has like a moth on her head for hair. These are my children.
[00:26:57] Speaker A: Oh, my beautiful kids.
[00:27:00] Speaker B: And what it does is the bands cast a really powerful illusion on both of them where they look completely different and both of them look like.
Taylor's was very clever about this. They both look like drakes, which are a kind of dragon like, relative.
And so they're about the right size and about the right shape and they move the right way and they make a lot of the right noises, but they don't look like young versions of what will later become, you know, incredibly powerful and dangerous creatures and. Yes.
[00:27:36] Speaker A: What.
[00:27:37] Speaker C: So for a werling and a juvenile, like, what is their.
Like, is there an equivalent to them for like a, an age or.
[00:27:48] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:27:48] Speaker C: How much can they talk or can't think?
[00:27:50] Speaker B: Absolutely. Yeah, let's talk about that. So Thern, she's actually about like 10 now.
So she is, she is kind of like developmentally so. Dragons hatch with like some.
Alright. Dragons hatch with like some consciousness, with some mental ability. There is an initial stage of development that most humanoids go through that dragons kind of just skip. They come out like within a couple hours. They're thinking and they can start giving. Following.
Yeah. And so Fern is kind of, she's kind of equivalent to like a young child.
No, sorry, an older child kind of headed toward tween times maybe.
And she is really big.
She weighs not quite £300. 280, 290. And she's roughly the size of like.
She's roughly like the body length and height of a, of a German shepherd, but much more the build of like a pitbull.
And, and she has her wings fully work and she can fly. She's already getting a big horn growing out of the front of her snout as a blue dragon does. Her ears are already folding back into like wrapped bat shapes. Her claws are already sharp, her teeth are already pronounced and she can already create electrical sparks from her mouth. She's growing rapidly.
She looks like in the end she'll probably wind up being much bigger and thicker than her older adoptive brother.
Zeras is big.
He's 12 and he has hit a developmental stride.
He's only about two years older than her.
So you guys had the egg for two years before it hatched, but in the last year he has clearly hit some like dragon kind of like puberty equivalent. Right, where he's just massively growing and he's mentally, he's kind of a whole lot like a, like a, like a young teenage personality.
He's really big. He's currently a little smaller than a horse.
He's really quite large.
And just as a, just as a reminder to get some visuals for you.
[00:30:16] Speaker D: Guys, would the horse size be shoulder height or are we talking length as well?
[00:30:20] Speaker B: Yes, for both.
[00:30:22] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:30:23] Speaker B: Like, like, like the shoulder. No, excuse me, Sorry about the shoulder height of a horse, but significantly longer. Okay.
[00:30:30] Speaker D: That's what that does.
[00:30:30] Speaker B: So this is obviously not what they look like, but this is an ancient blue.
[00:30:35] Speaker D: Right.
[00:30:35] Speaker B: So pick a picture of a little baby version of that.
And then the black.
This is an ancient black. So xerus doesn't look anywhere near this intimidating. Excuse me over here. But he does look. He doesn't look like this anymore. That's what he looked like his little worm was. So he's in between. He's growing into. They're starting to look pretty fierce. And these disguises are helpful because they are striking an important note for Argyll and Ravenna.
Zeras is growing into his body. He's gotten longer, taller, stronger. He's gotten very clever. He's talking a lot less now. He clearly understands a whole lot more, though.
[00:31:11] Speaker C: He.
[00:31:11] Speaker B: I mean, he can fully speak. He's fluid and intelligent. His wings are not.
They're. They're definitely not growing.
The bone structure is growing, but the wing tissue is not.
Well, and, like, he has. He has some tissue, but, like, not half as much as he needs to be able to produce.
And the context that you're missing, Noah, is that a very long time ago, Micah's character, Katinka, was joking around, juggling the egg, and then dropped it, and he was hatched far before he was ready. He should have hatched when Thern hatched.
Instead, he hatched two years early and his wings weren't grown.
So Zeras looks like he will never be able to fly.
[00:31:58] Speaker D: What the heck, Micah?
[00:31:59] Speaker B: Yeah, well, it was. It was. It was a very lighthearted session, and then she did that, and the whole session went. We got it. But.
But anywho.
So a thing that Argyle and Ravena are dealing with when they. When they visit Telege is that Zeras is very withdrawn. He seems kind of, like, bitter and quiet now. He likes both of you quite a bit. And Teloge is very much kind of like a. Like a dad figure in Zeras. Like an adoptive father figure in a very removed, strange way. Yeah, certainly. Primary caretaker, though he's not among his own kind. So these two are in your possession. So my first question I need to ask you. Oh, sorry. One more piece of context, and then I promise we're actually going to get into possession. One more piece of context. The ship you are on is the Great Gamble.
What is it called? What is it called?
Yeah, okay.
It's the Great Gamble.
[00:32:54] Speaker D: Do you know why I said that? No, the opposite, a little bit.
[00:32:59] Speaker B: The Great Gamble it is. The Great Gamble it is. And you all know the captain.
He's an aging human fellow. He's scraggly and rough.
Captain William, he's someone you guys met years ago whose affiliation with you brought him some success, and he used that to launch himself into a more reputable career as someone who would sail to places other people wouldn't. And with that success, he's been able to shake off the title Shaky Jim.
But he is still very much plagued by constant tremors. And so even though he goes by Captain William quite often, you guys still know the Shaky Jim and his. His. It's not a grand vessel, it's honestly pretty dinky and small. But it is a full fledged sailing ship at the smallest of its size class and the great gamble you all are sailing. And you know that he knows the arrangement with the Dragons. He knows.
So the question I have for you all is, does Neptune know?
[00:34:04] Speaker D: I was gonna ask could I have been potentially hired on as a possible bodyguard?
[00:34:10] Speaker B: Esque.
[00:34:12] Speaker D: Extra layer of protection for them.
[00:34:16] Speaker B: Let's do this. How about you roll me a retroactive persuasion check to have persuaded Telege that you could entrusted with these beings who are so precious to him.
[00:34:27] Speaker D: Persuasion? Yeah. That's gonna be a three.
[00:34:29] Speaker B: Excellent. That's a great.
That is certainly not a role you were brought in for. Okay, okay.
Now we've been on the ship three weeks. You've been on the ship three weeks.
So my question before and then I swear we're getting into it. But my question for you two is how have you treated this situation with the Dragons and Nexus?
[00:34:50] Speaker A: What's your vibe?
[00:34:52] Speaker B: Like?
[00:34:52] Speaker A: This is me as the player.
[00:34:54] Speaker B: How have you been behaving?
[00:34:55] Speaker A: Yeah, like how. How have you been?
[00:34:57] Speaker D: He's supposed to be like a higher.
[00:34:59] Speaker B: Are you full? What? Are you still really hungry? Not really. So if I eat that last doesn't mean much. As you want.
Okay.
I'm a black hole.
[00:35:10] Speaker D: No, no, you're good. He's.
And I didn't really look up gif 8 lifespans or anything, but they're pretty similar to humans.
[00:35:19] Speaker B: Okay, so he's going to be like.
[00:35:21] Speaker D: 40 or 45 years old. He's been around, he's seen things and he is supposed to be kind of a more mature like he's had his adventure time and he's supposed to like he's trying to again take a little bit more of a legitimate business stance, if that makes sense.
[00:35:39] Speaker B: Okay. Okay.
[00:35:41] Speaker A: Have you been like, are you personable? Are you like chatty with us or are you standoffish?
[00:35:47] Speaker D: He would be like a polite.
Obviously as time went on he'd probably engage more in active conversation with you guys as far as starting it. But at first like he would. It would be purely a strictly straight, strict professional relationship because you're basically. Ravenna is basically Necton's boss.
But you know, time going on all.
[00:36:08] Speaker C: Of these questions, Jackie, that we don't trust him.
[00:36:11] Speaker A: Well, no, this is what I'm thinking. And maybe we could even play this out a little bit. But you said we're arriving today.
[00:36:18] Speaker B: It's like the evening. The next morning. You'll get there. Is what Captain William has told you. Okay.
[00:36:24] Speaker A: I think.
I think Ravina would pull Argyle aside and with this.
[00:36:31] Speaker B: Is that okay? Yeah. Since we're role playing, let's do this.
And so.
Hold on, hold on. Let's do this.
Okay.
Then a meteor falls out of the sky, Entering the last night of sailing before arriving in Lore the next day in. Oh, I did have a title for the ship and I named it the Red Herring. But I like the Great Gamble. So we'll stick with the Great Gamble.
[00:37:05] Speaker A: The Red Herring.
[00:37:06] Speaker B: I literally said. I said it. Just.
[00:37:08] Speaker A: Yeah, I'm like, what?
[00:37:09] Speaker D: I said it purely as a joke. So I'm not offended if you want to switch that.
[00:37:12] Speaker B: The courageous course. One big joke. Okay. So.
[00:37:17] Speaker C: We love these characters.
[00:37:18] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:37:19] Speaker C: These people are precious.
[00:37:20] Speaker B: I didn't say they weren't loving.
[00:37:22] Speaker D: I'm glad this isn't a Halloween one shot.
[00:37:23] Speaker C: I like this character.
[00:37:24] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:37:25] Speaker B: I swear you have a lot of negative. And I swear I'm usually a pretty forgiving and gentle vm. Just the Halloween one shots where I'm brutal.
[00:37:31] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:37:34] Speaker B: So the last night, sailing aboard the Great Gambler, a small sailing vessel helmed by Captain William.
The ocean is temperate and the summer evening warm, cooled slightly by the sharp ocean spray, with the firmament of brilliant reflections slowly traveling overhead in a rotating motion.
So setting the scene, it's not in the boat. It's just gently through the waves. The wind is caught in the sails and the sails are vibrating against them as they are for days. A good strong southerly wind is carrying you. And in this moment in the warm evening as bedtime might be nearing with the two really big drakes laying on deck, one of them looking like a little young blue drake, the other one looking like a very large green drake. And, like, big for a drake.
They're both on the deck.
And the green drake looking thing. A drake's like a dragon dog kind of.
[00:38:36] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:38:37] Speaker B: Okay. You've seen he's stretched out on the deck and he's like 13, 14ft long. Turtles. And he has his legs perched and folded at the edge of the deck where he's got his chin resting. And he's just looking out over the waves. He's very pensive.
[00:38:52] Speaker D: Is he facing?
[00:38:54] Speaker B: Yes. And the wind is. And the illusion's really good. The wind blowing across him is like moving the frill back and forth. Even though he doesn't have that structure at all.
The smaller one is curled up in a circle, and the smaller one being really big. It's curled up in a circle up, like kind of in a ball up next to his stomach, just kind of laying up against him. You guys are above deck. Go ahead and get that interaction.
[00:39:16] Speaker A: For me, I would say, because they. I mean, they talk and all, too, but one's kind of like toddlers. I think I would. Well, not a toddler child.
Okay. Yeah.
So I would say definitely say this in front of them. I would say, like, maybe you're. You would drop.
[00:39:30] Speaker D: I think I'm gone. I'm like, below deck or something.
[00:39:33] Speaker A: So I would pull Argyle in and.
[00:39:35] Speaker C: I'd say, so I'm off the board.
[00:39:41] Speaker B: The way you slip into that is truly amazing. It's a different person.
[00:39:44] Speaker A: We're going to pull in the fort tomorrow, and I.
I'm just wondering.
[00:39:52] Speaker B: What.
[00:39:53] Speaker C: Do you think about.
[00:39:54] Speaker A: And she kind of looks over at Zara, right? And she even kind of like, kind of nods to him. Like, you know, you can. You can weigh in on this if you want.
[00:40:03] Speaker B: He hasn't turned his head at all. You know, his hearing is phenomenal.
[00:40:07] Speaker A: And, I mean, it's up to them as well, I guess, because it's inevitably their identities.
[00:40:14] Speaker C: But what do you think about Helen.
[00:40:15] Speaker B: Neptune, a treatment from over drape. Zera's head lifts up off of his legs and just kind of like his long neck can turn. And he, like, looks at you, not intensely, just, oh, like, oh, you caught his attention. He's listening.
[00:40:29] Speaker A: I'm just worried if something.
Because we don't really know what we're getting into, and if something were to, you know, if we needed to undisguise them or if we needed to get them out or just any kind of protection. I think it would be better for Nectar to know all of what's going on.
[00:40:52] Speaker C: Our girl waits to make sure that.
[00:40:54] Speaker A: You'Re finished.
[00:40:58] Speaker C: As he's been doing for probably some years now. As you're talking, he goes.
He starts to interrupt you and then stops. Abby, many, many times.
[00:41:08] Speaker B: I need you to take one point of character growth.
You officially have a D4 to use on some role you want during the session.
[00:41:16] Speaker C: Yay. Fun. And he. So there's like. But there's. You're like, that's great, dude. And now there's, like, always a little bit of pawn.
[00:41:22] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:41:24] Speaker A: Like.
[00:41:27] Speaker C: Especially, like, if something does happen and.
[00:41:29] Speaker A: Exactly.
[00:41:30] Speaker C: The kiddos have to, like.
They have to, like. If they lose it.
[00:41:34] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:41:35] Speaker C: I don't want them to. I don't want.
I mean, and I don't want next one to actually, like, attack them.
[00:41:43] Speaker A: That would be bad. Yeah. And I think, I mean, Shadow J gives us the liberty to, you know, make these decisions, but the guys aren't really for him. And I think, I mean, I know y' all can handle yourself. She looks over at there, she's like, I know you can handle yourself.
[00:41:59] Speaker B: Gives you a steady, even gaze.
[00:42:00] Speaker A: But I just, you know, have one more ally on our team it might be. And I mean, we've gotten to know him over three weeks and he's quiet a little bit and a little odd, but, I mean, we are too.
[00:42:16] Speaker C: Next.
Did you. Do we know that you are part of the locomotive there?
[00:42:23] Speaker A: I think she's asked, is that something.
[00:42:25] Speaker D: You slowly slipped out of the argon?
[00:42:28] Speaker B: That was the story. I said, do we know that I levitate through this?
[00:42:35] Speaker A: So have you.
[00:42:36] Speaker C: Would you have shared that with us?
[00:42:37] Speaker D: That I was part of? Probably.
I can't imagine I wouldn't because it's a fairly well known or how.
[00:42:45] Speaker B: Yeah. Let me give you some context, please. In the Eastern world, there are two massive organized criminal organizations.
And honestly, in all of Yaladra, these are the two largest and they are the.
Oh, my goodness, the Brass Company and Le Pome La Pomme being bigger than south, the Brass Company being much larger than to the west.
So they are. They're very well known. It's like having not heard of the Mafia, but honestly, bigger.
But people can have very different opinions.
And also, as a note is a member of Le Pomere on your left form.
You are branded here with that, that open hand. Now you can have that wrapped easily.
Yeah.
[00:43:29] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:43:30] Speaker B: Excellent. So if you've chosen to reveal, though, that's up to you.
[00:43:33] Speaker D: I would say probably, yeah, just.
[00:43:36] Speaker B: I would say and I would.
[00:43:38] Speaker A: I would have mentioned that. I would have been like. I mean, he was honest with us about his past and what he's done and what he's currently doing.
[00:43:43] Speaker D: I would not have told you everything.
[00:43:45] Speaker A: Well, yeah, yeah, I. I figured we haven't told you everything exactly.
[00:43:50] Speaker B: Nectar's awake below deck, just like staring screams behind him. He can't sleep. He never does.
[00:43:57] Speaker A: I mean, like, he was. He seemed open enough.
[00:44:00] Speaker C: Yeah, but I mean, he was part of the open hand, like, or the problem of air, like, sorry, I just, like, know everything.
So, like.
[00:44:11] Speaker B: Oh, my goodness.
[00:44:12] Speaker C: I mean, like, he has a lot of powerful connections. If he wanted to, like, rat us out or anything.
[00:44:17] Speaker B: I don't know.
[00:44:20] Speaker C: Yeah, that's true.
[00:44:21] Speaker A: And we have two baby dragons.
[00:44:23] Speaker C: Kid dragons.
[00:44:25] Speaker B: I mean, she knows you say baby dragons.
Thern's not as good at her, like, playing it off. And she should act like she has no idea what people are saying all the time, but that's the part she's not so good at. And her head just whips out and she looks at you all.
[00:44:39] Speaker A: She's a kid.
[00:44:39] Speaker C: Kid driving.
She like teenage driving.
[00:44:42] Speaker B: She like, kind of like starts to hustle and Xeris just like lifts an arm and pushes her back under the deck and she just sighs.
[00:44:52] Speaker C: I mean, we do have two, like, very strong and powerful teenage almost grown dragons.
[00:44:58] Speaker A: Yeah.
[00:44:59] Speaker C: I mean, so that's. That's one thing.
You know, Tello Jay gave him the.
[00:45:09] Speaker A: Rundown of his position here.
[00:45:11] Speaker B: And as.
[00:45:11] Speaker A: I mean, he could be, you know, this is a job and any secrets or anything of ours.
[00:45:20] Speaker B: He is to be no Zeras somewhat weedy, kind of like grating. His voice is like, sharp and it pierces through for a moment. He says, and if all else fails, we kill him.
I mean, and he has a very flat look on his face, like he's very serious.
[00:45:41] Speaker A: That's not the first thing we jump to. Remember, we've talked about this.
[00:45:45] Speaker B: He rolls his eyes and he goes.
[00:45:46] Speaker A: Of course, we never jump to killing as our first option. But yes, if necessary.
Understood.
[00:45:55] Speaker D: Unfortunately, that won't be necessary. And I walk this shot on. Only I can open it. You won't have to worry about any secrets being spilled.
[00:46:06] Speaker A: You.
[00:46:06] Speaker B: You walk. First of all, dude, nice.
You're working on that accident. Not that there's a performance, but nice.
And you say that and it's like, pretty sudden that the green Drake stands up and immediately stands over the smaller one and she like, curls up and those still looking like a blue Drake. Her mouth opens and a little bit of electricity arcs between the teeth.
He like, opens his mouth slightly and the entire. I didn't know we were going straight into this moment. The entire illusion drops and instead you can see.
Yeah, I mean, Captain William. But he knows. He knows he's at the helm also. He's up there shaking.
He's at the helm and he just goes, okay.
Not on the ship.
[00:46:52] Speaker A: Okay, guys, you're okay.
[00:46:53] Speaker B: J.
[00:46:54] Speaker A: Nothing. Nothing's happening.
[00:46:56] Speaker B: You want watch the illusion melt off of him? And the creature you're looking at is reptilian and about the same size. But also the way it's scary.
His head, the front of his skull is protruded and elongated. And the way the black dragon features are Starting to come into him. Every single recess where the tissue meets between skull folds in and sinks in as if the bone is pushing out of the flesh. He has all these small sharp horns facing forward. And he has these two really wide forward facing horns that start to arc out at angles. And he's starting to get a feature that black dragons get as some get as they age. With the brow of his. The crest of his brow is starting to turn white. Like the top part of his head is bleaching, as if the skull is coming through the black scales. He has these vibrant green eyes and he has these massive black haunting wings that kind of look all the scarier because of the tears. Tissue isn't grown between them. They flex out for a second. He just opens his mouth very slightly and just.
This is like a crocodilian.
[00:47:57] Speaker A: She like, passes back or wherever she's at.
[00:48:00] Speaker B: And you walk up and you barely even touch his leg. He's so little.
[00:48:05] Speaker C: I walk up and I like walk between them. Like I place myself between there and.
[00:48:11] Speaker B: Guys, I like that we got right to it. This is cool.
[00:48:14] Speaker C: And I say, now, so what secrets do you think you're gonna be keeping then?
[00:48:20] Speaker B: Argyle stands in front of a young black dragon. I'm not gonna say anything.
[00:48:24] Speaker D: I'm just gonna.
[00:48:24] Speaker B: I'm just gonna look over to the dragons and then look back at Argyle.
Yeah, he's gonna do it again.
[00:48:35] Speaker D: Look back and back at you.
[00:48:37] Speaker A: I think she means that there are secrets to keep. Right?
[00:48:42] Speaker D: Well, as far as we are concerned, yes.
[00:48:49] Speaker B: Okay.
Zeras looks at Ravina genuinely.
[00:48:54] Speaker A: Yeah, Ravina kind of looks after she goes. Okay.
[00:48:57] Speaker D: If you're wondering about my personal life and my past experiences.
[00:49:01] Speaker A: No, no, no, no, no. What I mean is there's no secret to keep because there's no secret here.
[00:49:10] Speaker B: Correct?
[00:49:11] Speaker D: Of course.
[00:49:12] Speaker A: Okay.
We just have two drinks and they're very nice. Right. So.
[00:49:20] Speaker B: His face doesn't get any less ready. He does that dog flop where he just puts his hips down really suddenly sits into them and he just. And as he does, the whole ship goes.
[00:49:28] Speaker A: Like, Raffy has to like, hold on.
[00:49:32] Speaker B: He's like half a ton.
And he like puts his hips down and his tail.
And you all can see that the very tip of his tail is starting to harden into a point. He might wind up with a stinger there at some point.
[00:49:44] Speaker D: Would we know that as an adaptation making up for his lack of ability to fly, or would that just be. No idea.
[00:49:49] Speaker B: Okay, well, actually, are you proficient in dragon?
That'd be a hard thing to know about a dragon, but he, like, he sits down with his hips and he leans into his shoulder, but he doesn't make his eyes off you at all. And it's.
You're a hardened dude.
[00:50:05] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:50:05] Speaker B: Give me. Give me a Christmas saving throw. It's nothing dramatic. Okay. But like, just to not get the heebie jeebies.
Oh, gosh. Okay. Okay, I'm gonna stop using this dice.
I'm not saying your character needs to fully come apart or anything, but you feel all the little hairs stick up on the back of your neck. And a very, very nascent young version of a dragon's layer ability to frighten is coming through Zeras right now. And you, like, you feel all your muscles tense and you're like. You feel the gravity of this job you've taken on.
[00:50:36] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:50:37] Speaker B: And he just stares at you and slowly lays down and he won't quit staring. And it's. You know when you're at the zoo and the lion looks at you through the fence. Yes. And you're. And all of a sudden everything. Yeah. So you have that feeling. I know that. But anyway, everyone's just paused there.
[00:50:53] Speaker C: Well, so, I mean, all the people at. He looks at Ravine and says, yeah. I mean, all the people in my young monks group say that it's really important to not like to be open with each other. So I think it's really good. And he looks at next room and he goes. I think it's just really good that we're all being so open about how much. How cool our two Drakes that we have are.
And I really appreciate the openness and the honesty, Nick, about that.
[00:51:20] Speaker B: Also, neon, just as a note, you have been with Argyle for three weeks and he has gotten your name wrong all three weeks. Like, you. You've been speaking. No, I like it. It's a fun bit.
[00:51:29] Speaker C: I would like to say it.
[00:51:31] Speaker D: It is.
[00:51:33] Speaker B: It's.
[00:51:34] Speaker D: It looks like Neckton, but it's supposed to be Neckton.
[00:51:37] Speaker C: Ne.
[00:51:38] Speaker B: But I like Neck.
[00:51:39] Speaker D: Thr.
[00:51:39] Speaker B: That was fun.
[00:51:40] Speaker D: I like it too.
[00:51:44] Speaker C: Nexon.
[00:51:46] Speaker B: I shouldn't have said anything, but Zeras finally, like, lays down a little bit while I'm staring and Tharn pipes up and she goes, so we're not going to kill him?
[00:52:00] Speaker C: No, not right now.
[00:52:02] Speaker B: She just.
She does this weird little popping sound and she just pops her jaws once and there's this little out of her mouth and she lays down her head, disappointed.
So now you're all just weirdly standing there on the deck.
[00:52:19] Speaker A: He does know their names though, right?
[00:52:22] Speaker B: Like, unless you all have introduced them thus.
[00:52:25] Speaker A: Yeah, well I figured, I mean we knew we introduced them out their names.
[00:52:30] Speaker C: Would they know these dragons? Like would they know their names or.
[00:52:32] Speaker D: Not Famous, but the names give away like whether or not they're dragons.
[00:52:38] Speaker B: Those names are.
[00:52:39] Speaker A: Drakes would be named.
[00:52:40] Speaker B: Right.
[00:52:41] Speaker D: They could genuinely have their real name, I guess.
[00:52:43] Speaker C: Yeah, I'd say so. Yeah.
[00:52:46] Speaker B: Okay.
Is there any additional role play right now or are you guys just kind of like. Well that's settled, you go to bed. Cuz that's fine too.
[00:52:51] Speaker A: Well now you're properly introduced, everyone be friendly or you know, as they're said.
[00:53:00] Speaker D: And he's going to go to.
[00:53:02] Speaker C: To the.
[00:53:02] Speaker B: What.
[00:53:03] Speaker D: What time of day is it?
[00:53:04] Speaker B: Oh, it's really, really late evening. It's fully night. Okay. So he's going the next morning that you're supposed to arrive.
[00:53:09] Speaker D: He's gonna go to the kind of up towards the prout.
[00:53:13] Speaker B: Okay.
[00:53:14] Speaker D: And he's going to.
[00:53:15] Speaker B: You have to pass by Zeras for that.
[00:53:17] Speaker D: He'll just go kind of along the edge.
[00:53:19] Speaker B: As you walk by, he stretches out his body and lays down his head and lets his head roll out and he gets his jaws like a foot from you. And as you walk by he goes as if really smelling you and you're just like.
But he's gonna say hello.
[00:53:36] Speaker D: Okay. Excellent stepping.
And once he gets to the prow he's going to take a fishing pole from his cloak and just start. It would have been like a nightly routine.
[00:53:45] Speaker B: Okay, cool.
[00:53:46] Speaker D: Just like something calm to kind of get his wits about him from the pre. From the day. Yeah, I'm just gonna start fishing off the edge of the boat.
[00:53:54] Speaker B: Okay, cool. From a fully moving boat in deep sea. Is this line baited currently or is it just an empty fishing hook for the sake of habit?
[00:54:03] Speaker D: If the bait is not a strain on rations or whatever food he's using them on.
[00:54:09] Speaker B: Squeezy.
[00:54:09] Speaker D: Yeah, he would have bait then roll.
[00:54:12] Speaker B: Me a D100 shark bait.
Okay.
[00:54:15] Speaker D: You need a refresh roll.
[00:54:16] Speaker B: No, no, no, I'm sorry. That has never come up in the indie for you and might not for a very long time. So D100 is where we take the diamond with the zeros and the diamond without and we roll them together. This counting for the tens, place this counting for the ones.
[00:54:30] Speaker A: This is waiting for four years and.
[00:54:32] Speaker C: I still don't know which one is 10.
[00:54:33] Speaker B: Yeah.
[00:54:34] Speaker D: This being a 10 and that being an 8.
[00:54:36] Speaker B: So 18.
You don't catch anything but it's. But you don't expect to.
You're fishing off the side of a boat in traveling at speed in the open ocean, you don't expect anything.
But it's a nice, soothing practice nonetheless.
[00:54:53] Speaker C: Argyll is once. It, like the night is seeming like it's. It's slowing down. So he is trying to finish up all of the ideas that he has to share with Ro about the tea shop.
[00:55:05] Speaker A: Ravena.
[00:55:06] Speaker C: Ravena.
[00:55:07] Speaker B: That's. That's admittedly hard to break. That's tough.
[00:55:10] Speaker C: We get to see her very often, but they are co owner, CEO, partner.
[00:55:15] Speaker B: Oh, my goodness.
[00:55:15] Speaker C: So there's a lot of things to discuss. So he's just like. So I was thinking. I was thinking. So the. The. The. The Empty Nesters club that comes on. On.
I'm so sorry, Bakan. Bakan. I'm sorry, Zach.
[00:55:32] Speaker B: No, I'm only laughing because you went. So I was thinking. And right when you said thinking, you did this thing with your lips. I've never seen you do where they went like they went like I was.
And you did. You made a shape with your mouth. I've only ever seen a frag I make, and that was just really hard to. But anyway, please continue.
[00:55:48] Speaker C: The Empty Nesters Club at the Empty Nesting Club that comes on the call. I was thinking they're really. You know, I overhear when I'm working, they really are getting into gardening. So I was thinking there's a little plot of land across the street that we could maybe buy. And I was wondering if we could grow flowers to then put in a tea. We'd have to see if we could get the MG Nesters Club online. And if we don't, you know, we have to make sure that if they don't want to, like, take over the work or if they break up or something, I'll have to, like, you know, do the gardening. And that's okay.
[00:56:18] Speaker A: I can.
[00:56:18] Speaker C: Or we could hire someone. Oh, yeah, we could. I mean, yeah, we could hire someone. I didn't even really want to do it, so that works well, if you.
[00:56:26] Speaker B: Want up from at the helm.
Shaking Shaky William goes. You know, if you made it a community garden, you'd have initial community investment. And then if the group broke up, you wouldn't need to stop paying for it.
[00:56:40] Speaker C: Shaky. That is.
He's unprecedented. We gotta get you. I'm sorry.
[00:56:45] Speaker B: I'm in constant pain.
She's quietly helping Insight. See if that's actually true. Yeah, absolutely.
[00:56:56] Speaker D: Oh, my goodness.
[00:56:57] Speaker B: Buddy. Hey, you're getting them out now. Your rolls are gonna be so good later. Also, I brought other D20s if you need them.
[00:57:03] Speaker D: I might take you up on that.
[00:57:05] Speaker B: You also have a huge one, if you want.
[00:57:07] Speaker D: I do. Six.
[00:57:11] Speaker B: That's awful.
Also someone. Someone who fully knows him.
[00:57:17] Speaker D: Yeah, that's true.
[00:57:18] Speaker B: Both are true.
[00:57:20] Speaker C: I'm so sorry, Captain Williams.
Please forgive me.
[00:57:22] Speaker B: From that. From the helm, he just goes, that's a.
[00:57:26] Speaker C: That's a great idea. And I think maybe, you know, if we advertised it at some of the book clubs. Those book party people also love land.
[00:57:33] Speaker A: So I think that would be.
[00:57:35] Speaker C: I think that'd be a great combo. And I was thinking we could grow chamomile. Maybe. I'd have to talk to somebody.
[00:57:40] Speaker A: I do like chamomile. Right?
[00:57:41] Speaker C: We could grow chamomile. We got hibiscus, maybe some rooibos. Like, we could. And then we could. We could grow herbs for like. Like St.
Elspire.
[00:57:56] Speaker B: Give me.
Are you.
[00:58:00] Speaker A: We did actually find this.
[00:58:02] Speaker B: Oh, you did? In the other St. Alfarias.
[00:58:08] Speaker A: Now, remember, we didn't.
[00:58:09] Speaker C: It wasn't great water, though.
[00:58:13] Speaker B: Oh, my goodness.
[00:58:14] Speaker C: Abby.
[00:58:14] Speaker B: Hot dang. You remember that?
[00:58:16] Speaker A: It was good. It was, like, healing, though.
[00:58:20] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:58:21] Speaker C: So the real, like, health.
[00:58:24] Speaker B: Give me a nature check.
Argon.
It's not fair.
I know.
[00:58:33] Speaker C: It's an 18.
[00:58:37] Speaker B: You're not Greta. Or are you?
Still, an excellent rule.
It occurs to you that as you've been tending teas and growing plants, actually, that's very fitting for your character. If St. Malfarius is a kind of plant that grows really well in harsh, stony environments and with brackish waters, being in Home Cove, you could probably emulate that pretty easily. You could go get rocks from the shoreline, plant them in very shallow layer of sand, and then you could fill it with partly fresh water, partly brackish water in a container. And you could probably grow St. Alpheria's pretty easily, especially as wind from the ocean front comes in every so often.
[00:59:16] Speaker C: So our guy was, like. Just had a brainwave and he's like. He's like, whoa. Ruby and I just had a brain wave and he, like, explains all of this to you again.
Yeah, I mean, that would be good.
[00:59:31] Speaker A: Right? So, like, I've heard of these new little pastries that you. If you take, like.
[00:59:41] Speaker B: Butter.
[00:59:44] Speaker A: No, you.
[00:59:45] Speaker B: Like.
[00:59:47] Speaker A: If you take, like, butter and there's some kind of. There's some kind of spice. It's kind of spicy. Do you have a ginger or cinnamon?
[00:59:57] Speaker B: Cinnamon, yes. Yeah, there's ginger. There's ginger and cinnamon.
[01:00:01] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:00:05] Speaker B: It's gotta die.
[01:00:09] Speaker A: Yeah, they have, like, ginger and cinnamon and clove in them. And then you like?
[01:00:15] Speaker C: Well, it's kind of like chai tea.
[01:00:17] Speaker A: But it's like, wrapped up.
Do you remember when we had those croissants that one time in.
[01:00:23] Speaker C: In.
[01:00:25] Speaker A: Where were we?
[01:00:26] Speaker B: They only joined the session so they could replay this, so they could role play owning a shot. Or they actually.
[01:00:34] Speaker A: Have those things called croissants.
[01:00:37] Speaker C: Ah, yeah.
[01:00:38] Speaker A: It's infinion. It means like buttery pastry or something. Right?
[01:00:41] Speaker C: Well, it's like that, but you put.
[01:00:44] Speaker A: Like, butter and the spices in it, and then it's like this and you roll it up. It's like a little roll, but it has, like, sugar and spice.
[01:00:51] Speaker C: Like a sugar and spice croissant.
[01:00:53] Speaker A: But it's a roll. So it's like a clove cinnamon ginger roll.
[01:00:58] Speaker B: From the helm, completely unspice roll.
[01:01:00] Speaker A: Yes.
[01:01:01] Speaker B: From the helm, completely unprovoked. Shaky Jim goes. I can get you some Z.
[01:01:07] Speaker A: What's that?
[01:01:09] Speaker B: Give me a rumors check.
[01:01:11] Speaker C: Oh, I don't have rumors.
[01:01:14] Speaker B: No, it's just crisp.
[01:01:21] Speaker A: Can I do it?
Ow. That got bad roll.
[01:01:28] Speaker B: When. When Jackie asked. She had the die in her hand already.
Also, someone should eat that last time.
[01:01:35] Speaker A: Wait, what did you get?
What did you get?
What did you get? What did she get?
[01:01:40] Speaker B: An 11. What'd you get?
[01:01:40] Speaker A: Oh, I got a 13.
I just inhaled powdered sugar.
[01:01:46] Speaker D: Argyle.
[01:01:46] Speaker C: What's.
[01:01:47] Speaker B: What's that?
Ravina? Drugs. That's drugs.
[01:01:51] Speaker A: Oh, I think has this not come up in our campaign that ginger is a drug.
[01:01:59] Speaker B: Oh, J I D. Yes, please. J, I D. J I D.
Actually, this came up. And do you guys remember bakery in the second degree?
[01:02:10] Speaker C: Yes.
[01:02:11] Speaker B: Remember the drug you found downstairs in the basement?
[01:02:13] Speaker A: Oh, yeah.
[01:02:15] Speaker D: Is it. Is it like a cocaine? Is it a smoke thing?
[01:02:18] Speaker B: It's a dumper.
[01:02:19] Speaker D: Okay.
[01:02:19] Speaker B: It's not a downer, but I do is smoked. It's only. Oh, you'd know.
Oh, yeah. Jijid is a plant grown. It's native to.
To Jarsku. But it can be grown in a whole lot of environments, so long as it's kept fairly dry.
And in opposite of marijuana. Yes. Yeah. Yes. Yeah.
It is in every way the opposite of marijuana. And if you crush and prepare the leaves and then dry them, you can smoke them and they have a very intense effect.
[01:02:54] Speaker A: Can I do an insight check to see if this is why he's shaky all the time?
[01:02:57] Speaker B: Give me.
Give me an insight check.
[01:03:00] Speaker D: Can I say I.
[01:03:02] Speaker A: What the hell?
[01:03:02] Speaker D: I'm addicted to this drug.
[01:03:04] Speaker A: What?
[01:03:08] Speaker B: Dope. Writing that down.
[01:03:11] Speaker C: So that would include that you have some aids.
[01:03:14] Speaker D: Potentially, maybe not on the aids if.
[01:03:15] Speaker C: You'Re addicted to it, you'd probably travel with it.
[01:03:18] Speaker D: What if he doesn't like being addicted to it? You don't.
[01:03:21] Speaker A: So now you're shaky.
[01:03:23] Speaker D: Jen, maybe that's like skiff differently.
[01:03:26] Speaker A: Oh, no. Here we go.
[01:03:28] Speaker B: Okay, I'm just.
[01:03:33] Speaker A: Remember when you place the orders for the spices.
[01:03:36] Speaker C: Ginger. Ginger.
[01:03:38] Speaker A: Ginger. Not ginger.
[01:03:40] Speaker C: Spicy ones.
[01:03:41] Speaker A: Yeah, not ginger. That's a drug. That's an illegal substance.
No. Thank you, by the way, William. I appreciate it.
[01:03:48] Speaker B: Did you get a new subject?
[01:03:49] Speaker A: I got an eight.
Yeah.
[01:03:51] Speaker C: He reaches out and he goes, regina.
[01:03:54] Speaker B: Yes.
[01:03:55] Speaker C: You know that I'm so sober.
[01:03:57] Speaker A: That's why I'm telling you.
[01:03:59] Speaker C: And you know that our space that we co own and co found and co own together.
[01:04:05] Speaker B: Jeez.
Jeez.
[01:04:07] Speaker C: Is a sober state.
[01:04:08] Speaker D: I know.
[01:04:09] Speaker A: That's why I told you to get ginger, not the G. Is ginger a drug?
[01:04:14] Speaker C: Ginger is not a drug.
[01:04:15] Speaker D: It is if you try hard enough.
[01:04:18] Speaker A: What? When I start getting too yelly, I sound like Ro.
[01:04:21] Speaker C: What do you mean ginger's not a drug?
[01:04:25] Speaker A: Ginger's just a nice Nick Jones.
[01:04:27] Speaker C: You said it was a drug.
[01:04:28] Speaker A: No, he's not even here right now.
[01:04:31] Speaker B: I'm cocktail fishing right now.
Last night, when I was writing this session, I was worried I had two little clocks and that was silly.
[01:04:41] Speaker A: You forgot you had argyle in Ravenna.
[01:04:43] Speaker B: So allow me to ask, is there going to come more of this conversation or are you guys just running a mortal?
[01:04:48] Speaker A: No, we just decided to. That we're gonna serve nice spice rolls.
[01:04:52] Speaker B: No, I heard.
[01:04:53] Speaker A: And we wrote that down for our business. And we're working on a community garden.
[01:04:57] Speaker C: We're brainstorming about the community garden.
So I think we.
[01:05:02] Speaker A: And I think we get to import the spices from each.
[01:05:04] Speaker B: So it's the next morning and we have a session here.
So.
Did you get it? Did you get the fl.
Oh, my goodness. Okay. What everyone missed while we were talking. While we were. While everyone was talking, Jackie, rotating hand away from herself, downward, grabbed a gnat out of the air and crush it in her palm. Girl, you're the monk.
[01:05:42] Speaker A: I used to have math, so I got really good at that.
[01:05:45] Speaker B: You used to have Batman, is what you used to have. Girl, you're the monk and you have inspiration, so go ahead and mark it on your sheet.
[01:05:53] Speaker D: I love that.
[01:05:54] Speaker B: That was awesome.
So I couldn't possibly explain how, but that evening resolves itself and.
[01:06:04] Speaker A: No, we talked in.
[01:06:07] Speaker B: I think so.
Yes.
The dramatic moment went right back into. And what should we do with the flower arrangements?
And it is the next morning.
So it Is Now Bielskon the 8th, and the weather is just lovely.
Hi. Unless you're on throwing some pizza.
As the group arrives at their destination in the early morning, the next day, the sun's only been up for maybe 20, 30 minutes.
You will find an open port.
It's a fairly nondescript landscape so far as a port goes. It's a rocky shoreline, broken earth, and flecked with dense, clumped sand. And loosely rolling waves are just in and out. Not a whole lot of tension to it. There's not a lot of plant growth beyond. You can make out some green a couple miles in, but it's low. It's not very tall.
Lore must not be a land of abundant plant fertility. Right.
I was. Sorry. That was me forcing hiccups down.
[01:07:21] Speaker C: They almost died.
How do you do that? Sorry.
[01:07:25] Speaker B: It's about catching my breath at the right time and stopping it.
[01:07:27] Speaker A: Are there hiccups in Yallopren?
[01:07:31] Speaker B: All right, guys, are yawns a thing?
Hey, do you guys piss in?
[01:07:36] Speaker A: Yawning into the abyss.
[01:07:40] Speaker B: The docks are unmanned, but there are clearly posts where you can tie off, which is evidence of a very small community, or at least one that doesn't have outside connection with the world a whole lot. Because typically, if you expected a lot of people to dock, you'd keep the dockmaster there to collect fees. And one isn't kept. So Semoth must be a very small town, and that's kind of the entire space. As you all are approaching, you're nearing, and Jim's at the helm, and he goes.
[01:08:10] Speaker A: Somebody weigh anchor.
[01:08:14] Speaker C: I got it.
And he runs over and weighs anchor.
[01:08:20] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:08:22] Speaker D: Nexon is gonna slowly, kind of just follow behind in case help is needed.
[01:08:28] Speaker A: Okay.
[01:08:28] Speaker B: I mean, you're a pretty physically capable dude. Oh, you have an eight strength. Go ahead and give me an athletics check to start dancing.
[01:08:35] Speaker A: Was like, they need a bodyguard.
[01:08:39] Speaker C: That is gonna be a 14.
[01:08:42] Speaker B: It doesn't look good.
But he does get the anchor.
He starts with an initial lifting motion, and he just doesn't go. And you're like, wait, can I. Oh, yeah, yeah.
[01:08:52] Speaker C: He, like, starts to lift up, and he, like, like, grabs it and, like, just tries to straighten his back. And he's like, wait.
And he, like, it, like, obviously, like, hurts. And, like, is a little. Feels a little weird. And then he's like. He said wait. He's like, I know there's something you're supposed to do. Lift with your arms. Lift with your. He's like, lift with your legs.
[01:09:12] Speaker B: And then he, like, the Monk had to figure out.
[01:09:16] Speaker C: He likes. You can see his legs, his knees, like, wobbling a little bit with a trembling. Once he gets it, like, up, then he can kind of use his body weight to balance it.
[01:09:25] Speaker B: And he's okay and shaky. Ginger helm going, oh.
And with Braul perspiring on his forehead and like, a throbbing tremble in his body, Argyle eventually gets it over the end. Over the edge. And it.
In the ocean.
The ship pulls the dock and Captain William goes around and hoists the sails, and he throws a rigging off the side. He, like. He jumps from the ship to the dock, and as he does a leg spasms. And so he just like. And he.
It's the dog. And he gets up and goes, I'm all right, guys.
[01:10:01] Speaker D: Addiction isn't cool.
[01:10:03] Speaker B: And he gets the rope, and he ties it off to the post and ties it. Speaking of addiction, since you've made this part of your character, why don't you give me a con saving? Oh, no. Okay.
Can't believe he voluntarily did this, but I love it.
That's a nat one.
That's beautiful.
Nekhtum. Things have been going well for you.
Do you have Jijid with you?
[01:10:33] Speaker D: It would be, like, in my pack or something underneath.
[01:10:35] Speaker B: Okay. You've managed to stay off it this whole trip. And when you wake up this morning, the thought of a black dragon in your company is eating at you. And you need to feel better.
You're not gonna make it long before you have to smoke that.
Also, listener, quick disclaimer. Don't do drugs.
This is only don't do drugs. Supposed to be light hearted. Yeah. You said I have a drug.
Okay, he's just gonna.
[01:11:09] Speaker D: Would there be like, any physical, I guess, manifestation of this sudden urge?
[01:11:14] Speaker B: Yeah, you've been feeling bad all morning. You're peakish.
You have sweat beaded on your forehead.
And also you have the poisoned condition. Right now.
[01:11:25] Speaker C: What is that?
[01:11:26] Speaker A: I don't want to bother.
[01:11:27] Speaker B: You are entering withdrawal, and so you have the poisoned condition. That means you have a disadvantage on ability checks right now.
[01:11:33] Speaker C: Wow. You gotta.
[01:11:34] Speaker D: Not necessary, but cool.
[01:11:36] Speaker C: Wait.
[01:11:36] Speaker A: Not necessary, but cool.
I have a question.
[01:11:41] Speaker B: I did not plan this. Okay.
[01:11:43] Speaker C: I have some questions.
Do we. Is Jinjid, like, illegal?
[01:11:48] Speaker B: Oh, very, very, very, very.
[01:11:50] Speaker C: Okay, okay. What do we know? That you are addicted to this.
[01:11:54] Speaker B: I would have kept that air. No, don't even try.
[01:11:57] Speaker C: No, I'm just curious.
[01:11:58] Speaker B: The seasoned, capable, extralegal operative has not let on that he has a serious drug addiction.
[01:12:04] Speaker D: May have been government sanctioned at one point.
[01:12:05] Speaker B: Oh, my Goodness.
So anyway, the anger's been Wade. And you've got the itch.
He's gonna just.
[01:12:12] Speaker D: He's just gonna. Without talking to anyone, kind of like almost speed walk towards the. Towards whatever door or whatever goes down.
[01:12:21] Speaker B: Yeah, it's just. It's just a. Well, okay.
[01:12:23] Speaker A: He's acting different.
[01:12:25] Speaker B: You don't know him well, but. Okay, let's do this. Let's do this. You give me a deception check. Okay, now here's the weird thing. You have disadvantage because you're entering withdrawal. You also have proficiency. Cuz you've been dealing with this for a long time.
[01:12:37] Speaker D: I also just. Yeah, I just have proficiency interception. So for excellent.
[01:12:41] Speaker B: Yes.
[01:12:42] Speaker C: Can I also roll? But keep in mind that I was also once.
[01:12:48] Speaker B: All right.
[01:12:49] Speaker A: I rolled a Knight 20 on the floor.
[01:12:51] Speaker B: No, you didn't.
[01:12:52] Speaker C: I did.
[01:12:52] Speaker B: Girl, you dropped the die on the ground.
[01:12:54] Speaker A: No, I don't mean for this. I just mean it landed on us 20.
[01:12:58] Speaker B: Okay, that's very cool. That's very cool.
[01:13:00] Speaker A: I'm just letting you know.
[01:13:01] Speaker D: All right.
[01:13:01] Speaker B: Okay.
Sorry. That's very cool, Jackie. So Argyll, you can roll.
And you'll be proficient in this check since it's something you've dealt with. And Ravina, you can roll. You're not proficient or. I don't know if you're proficient. Insight. You're proficient, but you can roll an insight check.
Can I roll?
[01:13:18] Speaker D: Deception at disadvantage, but with proficiency.
[01:13:21] Speaker B: Yeah. Okay, this is what's happening.
[01:13:23] Speaker A: I don't like these dice.
[01:13:27] Speaker B: No, I be a 23.
We're back.
He. He rolled it. He rolled a 19. He was like, oh, that was so good. And then you rolled a 19.
All right, what you get?
[01:13:38] Speaker A: I got a nine.
[01:13:40] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:13:41] Speaker A: I don't like this diet.
[01:13:43] Speaker B: Yeah, I mean, hey, diarrhea strikes. When it strikes, he goes below deck. What's to be said of him? So you go below deck.
[01:13:52] Speaker D: Yep.
[01:13:53] Speaker B: I'm gonna do some quick things with everybody else yet, but we'll come back to you. Okay.
So the enchantments have been renewed over Zeraxis and Fern, so they look like drakes again. And they both hop onto the deck, and Shaky Jim goes. I'll stay at port with you for a little bit until you guys are done, and then you guys can let me know out of here.
[01:14:17] Speaker A: Thank you, Captain.
[01:14:18] Speaker C: We'll let you know.
[01:14:19] Speaker B: Oh, it goes back into the helm.
[01:14:23] Speaker A: Okay, so in this letter that I.
[01:14:24] Speaker B: Received, you didn't know.
[01:14:25] Speaker A: Oh, I didn't.
[01:14:26] Speaker B: Oh, somebody sent to you, someone you do not know, just basically saying, travel far south to 7th. To 7th. The town is in need.
[01:14:37] Speaker A: What did the voice sound like? Was it female?
[01:14:38] Speaker C: Male?
[01:14:39] Speaker A: What did I get from it?
[01:14:40] Speaker B: It was like a. Like a. Like a kind of bored and flat middle aged male voice. Okay.
[01:14:46] Speaker A: And.
[01:14:51] Speaker B: And.
[01:14:53] Speaker A: They say how long?
[01:14:55] Speaker B: So the message you got said that you need to come south to 7th. The town is in need.
[01:15:01] Speaker A: And we are. Where we're docked is seventh, or do we need to walk some together?
[01:15:05] Speaker B: You are aware that this is a dock that soon leads to the town.
[01:15:08] Speaker A: Okay.
[01:15:08] Speaker B: You don't see a town ahead of you, but you imagine continuing for a way you'll probably arrive to it.
[01:15:12] Speaker C: And there's a path.
[01:15:13] Speaker B: Yeah, there's, there's. There's a clear road leading, not paved, but road pressed through.
[01:15:18] Speaker A: You did they say when to arrive or anything?
[01:15:21] Speaker B: So you got this message that said come far south to Samoth, the town is in need.
No, it said.
Didn't say that at all.
[01:15:31] Speaker A: But that was three weeks ago that we received the message.
[01:15:35] Speaker B: Yes. Jackie, let me save you some time. The things, you know are. The things I've told you.
[01:15:40] Speaker A: I'm just making sure I, I respect that. It's that w.
What. What do you say?
It's that W.
I mean that's. There's a path there.
[01:15:53] Speaker C: Yeah.
[01:15:53] Speaker A: And there's nothing else around.
[01:15:55] Speaker C: Well, do you see any other path?
[01:15:57] Speaker B: She looks around, sees the zeras is at the. Is at the. Is on the deck. And he has. He takes his claws, puts them in the wood just.
And stares at you all. And then shakes his head toward the road and like sits in a towel.
[01:16:13] Speaker C: Hey man, responsibility is a lot of work.
[01:16:16] Speaker A: And you didn't need to the dog.
[01:16:18] Speaker B: There's deed gouges in the dog.
[01:16:20] Speaker A: I understand you're frustrated.
[01:16:22] Speaker C: It takes a lot of mental work.
[01:16:24] Speaker B: To get your brain out. Huffs and begins like slowly, slowly walking.
[01:16:29] Speaker A: I would like as we're walking. Oh, and I say, I yell down before I get off the ship. I go, nexon, we're.
We're. We're leaving.
[01:16:40] Speaker B: And below Jack Neptune. What are we doing? He is.
[01:16:45] Speaker D: He beelines for his bunk cock, whatever it is.
And his bag is sitting there. He knows exactly where it is, even though maybe he had forgotten of it at some point.
[01:16:55] Speaker B: Sure, sure, sure.
[01:16:56] Speaker D: And as he's going through just.
And he starts to shake as he gets a little bit closer because he knows it's right there.
[01:17:02] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:17:03] Speaker D: Digging through the bag and grabs I guess like a small vial of.
[01:17:07] Speaker B: It's gonna be a little pouch, a little crushed, crushed fibrous Leaf.
[01:17:11] Speaker D: Would there be, like, a paper together?
[01:17:13] Speaker B: You could either have paper or a pipe.
[01:17:16] Speaker D: We'll do paper.
[01:17:17] Speaker B: Okay. So you have a little bit of paper. You roll it first. Odds or evens?
[01:17:22] Speaker D: Odds.
[01:17:24] Speaker B: 19.
You have. You portion. You. You portion out enough for a single smoke, and you keep a second amount on you. So you have a second serving in your pouch still.
[01:17:37] Speaker D: Gotcha.
[01:17:37] Speaker C: So there's only two.
[01:17:38] Speaker B: Yeah, he has. He has enough for two servings. And you can. You're kind of. Oh, this is so grim. You're kind of practiced at this, so you feel like you can get this whole thing down in four or five inhales. Long harden nails. Yeah.
Okay. So you roll it.
You strike a little flint and match and you really quickly.
And it's. It's. This is not fun.
It is not a fun drug.
Then you have a burning knee.
[01:18:07] Speaker A: None are children.
[01:18:09] Speaker B: Yeah, seriously, don't do that. But for real, though, don't.
But you have. You have a heavy itch at the back of your stomach, skull. And you can. You can feel the skin everywhere in your body at this moment. And as you take in like. Like three or four hard puffs, each one hurts more than the last. And your throat burns and your lung burns and your eyes are watering. But after a couple, like, hard breaths, you kind of smoke it halfway down to ash, and you can just crush it away in your palm.
It's got a really intense scent, but it's not a wildly foreign scent. So the scent that Jinjin makes when burned is, like, very earthy and dry and kind of musty. It doesn't smell good, but it also doesn't smell like holy crap. That's the drugs, right? It's just. It's like, not like marijuana.
No. But yes. Right? Like, that's an incredibly distinct smell. This is. If you know it, you know it. But if you don't, you could easily mistake. It's just certainly pungent. And so that's interesting. After. Thank you. After.
After those hard inhales, I need you to give me another con saving throw. Your poison condition is going away. You've had your hit. Your nervous system starts to.
[01:19:22] Speaker D: Starts to even 18.
[01:19:24] Speaker B: Excellent. Okay, that's good.
You.
You. You ride it out.
Because you know that heavy Jijid hits a Especially after some time withdrawal can have two very different paths of travel.
And after you take this hard, long. I can't believe this is what I'm dming right now. How is this where I'm at?
Know when to say no dm So I have to Take those hard puffs. I'm gonna go all the way back to the condition that Jackie's character got when she all. When she unintentionally did this in the bakery in the second degree episode.
Because you were like, let's burn some to get rid of it. And then everyone was like, dude, no. And then you're like, what have I done?
So, okay, you are no longer poisoned. You're no longer at disadvantage that fully. You even out your senses calm. Everything balances before.
And all the hairs stand up on your body and your pupils dilate. You are now.
You are on. You now have for the next.
For the next eight hours. You have the full session. Got it? Who knows? But yeah, probably.
No, I wouldn't last that long. Roll me a D4.
[01:20:37] Speaker C: Actually.
[01:20:40] Speaker A: Four.
[01:20:41] Speaker D: Four.
[01:20:41] Speaker C: Okay.
[01:20:41] Speaker B: Except for the next five hours, basically the whole session. The D4 plus one. The next five hours, you have disadvantage on charisma, ability checks. So that means you're not going to do a good job at acting normal.
However.
However, your. Your speed is also increased by 10ft.
Your movement is 10ft. Again, don't do drugs. Don't do drugs. Don't do drugs. I mean, don't be tempted, listener. This is not having a good effect on this guy.
Also, the world's not D and D, so you don't realize you do until you don't. Until you don't. But your Speed's increased by 10ft.
You have advantage on initiative. Okay?
[01:21:24] Speaker C: Oh, that's kind of.
[01:21:26] Speaker B: I mean, hey, this one's made up and not real. You have advantage on initiative. Yeah, and you have. You're gonna have disadvantage on charisma and intelligence, saving throws.
[01:21:38] Speaker D: Okay?
[01:21:39] Speaker B: As you're having trouble, like, so it spikes everything in different directions.
[01:21:43] Speaker D: That's crazy, because I need intelligence really badly, actually.
[01:21:46] Speaker B: Yeah, but only your saving throws. Your ability checks are fine. Just your saving throws.
So it. Yeah. So why did I say everything's. Everything spiked. You're faster and you're quicker and you're more ready and you're more aware. You're also really gonna have trouble keeping yourself even. And as you feel the high ride out and you feel it like, kick in and hit you nectin, you're hit with both. Well, your character feels how they feel about this.
[01:22:18] Speaker D: Right?
[01:22:18] Speaker B: You are always at liberty to have your own feelings and thoughts.
You are feeling both the immense relief of having that burning need gone. You are also feeling the great disappointment at having yet again failed to have left this behind.
Here you are trying to. You're on Adventure with Ravenna Green Bottle. And there's a dragon on.
[01:22:41] Speaker A: And Argyle.
[01:22:47] Speaker C: I made our name the same. I'm sorry.
Green Bottle. I made it Earl Green.
[01:22:52] Speaker B: I like it. You're on an adventure with V. Ravina Green Bottle. You've traveled far south with courageous core. There's a dragon in your company, and you're at the bottom of the boat getting high, and that sucks.
And then also, this is not a new habit to you. You're very aware of what's going on. You're not surprised. You know, like, okay, I'm gonna be acting a little weird, but also I'm a little quicker.
[01:23:17] Speaker D: He's gonna take whatever remaining ashes are, throw them on the ground, and just.
[01:23:22] Speaker B: Kind of stomp on it. Okay.
And as you push it out with your boot, that's when Ravina's voice comes down the stairwell and says, we're going.
[01:23:31] Speaker A: Down the path now.
[01:23:34] Speaker B: She says, kind of like a villain.
[01:23:36] Speaker A: Kind of like a what?
[01:23:37] Speaker B: A villain.
We are going down the path now.
[01:23:44] Speaker A: Are you ready to go?
[01:23:45] Speaker D: Yes. I'll be up in a second. And he grabs his stuff. Whatever he needs.
[01:23:50] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:23:51] Speaker D: Including obviously, the remaining ginger.
[01:23:53] Speaker B: Okay. Yeah. You just shove it in the pouch and you throw your pack on, you have your weapons, and you head up the stairs.
Okay.
Small smash cut. The party has successfully made it off the boat and onto the road. Holy cow. We've been here an hour, but so far, so barely D and D.
Yeah, well, usually I say so far, so fun, guys, but.
So the path continues.
Listen, all right, I can't explain to you what was weird about that moment or how weird it was, but that was a really strange moment that happened in real life.
Both of my players just glitched at the same time, and it was strange.
So anyway, it wasn't the one on drugs who glitched. No. Right.
The courageous core with our two drakes in tow, Jackie is fully red and green. Right now.
The party is continuing down the dirt road.
The ground begins to be covered in, like, real soils, and there are some interspersed grasses picking up on the landscape as well as the occasional shrub. And in the distance, you can see that you're coming from north to south. The east to your left is. It's kind of rising in topography and very, very, very, very, very far off in the distance, you can see what looks like the distant peak of a mountain rising up. You can realize that this must be a vein of the landscape that kind of rises eventually up toward it.
And far off ahead, you think you can see, like, a stone Wall coming up. Maybe a town. Yes.
[01:25:27] Speaker C: My first thing.
Can we retroactively change the name of our ghost tea shop to Green Tea?
[01:25:35] Speaker B: Yes.
[01:25:35] Speaker A: Heck yeah. Green Tea, green bottle and Green Earl Green.
[01:25:41] Speaker C: Yeah, I love that.
[01:25:43] Speaker A: Like Earl Gray.
[01:25:44] Speaker C: And I forgot my sign.
[01:25:45] Speaker B: Excellent.
Yeah.
[01:25:48] Speaker C: Does Saint Alperius grow here?
[01:25:52] Speaker B: Do I see you do not.
[01:25:54] Speaker C: Okay.
[01:25:54] Speaker B: Yeah. You know, it's fairly rare.
[01:25:56] Speaker C: Okay.
[01:25:57] Speaker B: Yeah.
[01:25:57] Speaker C: I keep my eyes peeled for it.
[01:25:59] Speaker B: Absolutely. It's not unheard of, but the problem are the exact conditions for it to grow are a little tough.
So party continues down the way. As you all see a stone wall approaching in the distance, is there any real preparation of conversation the heart is going through or just like, oh, well, yeah, fine.
[01:26:13] Speaker A: Is he walking like way ahead of us?
[01:26:16] Speaker B: He is physically in control of his body. He just moves a little quickly. And when you need to go fast, you can go fast.
[01:26:23] Speaker A: What is your normal speed, by the way? Oh, okay.
[01:26:26] Speaker B: But he is 7 foot 4. Yeah, he's huge.
[01:26:30] Speaker A: And to remind you and to remind the listeners, Ravina is 3 foot 2, her speed is 25, and she weighs 36 pounds.
[01:26:42] Speaker D: I weigh close to maybe 300 or something.
[01:26:45] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah.
[01:26:45] Speaker A: So would it be okay?
[01:26:47] Speaker C: I have a question.
[01:26:48] Speaker B: I have an answer.
[01:26:49] Speaker A: Okay. Would it be safe to say. And if not, totally cool.
Does she like. Because she's so small.
Would it be safe to say that sometimes Zaire or Cern, you could easily.
[01:27:05] Speaker B: Ride either of them and you have enough. You have. You have a very positive connection relationship with. Especially with Zeras. You could you. He'd probably let you ride.
[01:27:13] Speaker A: Yeah, I feel like that would probably.
[01:27:15] Speaker B: Frankly be a thing.
Nekton could ride Zair really big. I mean, he'd be a bit heavy.
[01:27:21] Speaker A: But still, I feel like I'd like.
[01:27:24] Speaker C: To establish.
[01:27:26] Speaker A: Quite a few.
[01:27:27] Speaker B: Okay. So are you currently riding Zaire?
[01:27:29] Speaker A: Yeah, I think so.
[01:27:29] Speaker B: Okay. Man, you're up so high. You can see so much of the landscape.
[01:27:35] Speaker A: Should I. She looks down at our Ryle, which she never does. She's like, oh, oh, this is weird.
[01:27:41] Speaker C: Should I.
[01:27:43] Speaker A: Should I try sending to whoever sent that message?
[01:27:47] Speaker C: Can you do that?
[01:27:47] Speaker A: I mean, I could try.
[01:27:50] Speaker C: Yeah, I think you should try.
[01:27:52] Speaker A: I don't even know their name, but I remember their voice.
[01:27:55] Speaker C: Yeah, I would give it a try. Do you need any help?
[01:27:58] Speaker A: I don't know if you can help, but if you want to give me that beautiful Argyle inspiration.
[01:28:05] Speaker B: I cannot believe I was writing this session worried I did not open a comment.
[01:28:09] Speaker D: Holy cow.
[01:28:10] Speaker C: I don't know what you're talking about.
[01:28:13] Speaker A: Well, just like when you're killing it this way. You, like, smile and then.
Yeah, that gives me inspiration.
[01:28:19] Speaker C: She turns around.
[01:28:23] Speaker B: Is he gonna fling wide?
[01:28:26] Speaker C: He says, okay, okay. Are you ready?
[01:28:28] Speaker A: I'm ready. I'm ready.
No, but I want to say. I want. I feel like we've done this a bunch of times, and I want to say that Ravina, when he does it, like at the moment he does it, she plucks a little. So it's like when he winks it, like, does it like, like, perfect.
That's the inspiration I needed.
[01:28:48] Speaker B: He's smoldering as he's walking. He's going, all right, you got this. So you play through the notes and you feel the connection, and you feel like you have mentally connected to the unknown individual who first connected to you.
[01:29:06] Speaker A: I say, hello, this is the creator's core. Oh, I have to keep track. That's right.
[01:29:13] Speaker B: Hello. This is the courageous core.
It's 25. Right.
[01:29:19] Speaker A: Okay.
We are.
We are heading up towards your town.
Would you like to meet us?
[01:29:36] Speaker B: You have six more.
[01:29:38] Speaker A: See you very shortly.
Okay, Ravenna.
[01:29:43] Speaker B: All right.
There's a pause and a voice comes back and says, oh, sorry, lady, I'm not from Samoth. They just hired me to send a message.
I left two weeks ago.
[01:30:00] Speaker C: Sorry, ladies.
[01:30:02] Speaker D: Sorry, lady.
[01:30:04] Speaker B: This guy doesn't know you.
[01:30:06] Speaker C: That's crazy.
That's so weird.
[01:30:11] Speaker B: You put together that this is a really small town. There's not. There's probably not any really capable casters there. They scrounged together some coins, found a moderate caster and had them send to you.
[01:30:21] Speaker A: Okay, okay. Well, hopefully someone there will understand.
[01:30:26] Speaker B: And it's not long before this bizarre group has reached the stone borders of, honestly, a hamlet. It's so small.
Maybe a little bit into tiny village territory, but it's not big. It's like legath size.
There is a stone wall maybe four feet tall. That's all. So Argyll and Nekton, you guys can see over very easily and on the shoulders of Zeras, so can you.
It's just stacked cobblestone, and beyond it are a bunch of edifices and buildings that match.
[01:30:58] Speaker D: It's not like a defensive wall of any kind. Right.
[01:31:00] Speaker B: Because I could fully, like. Right. It looks like it has the intention of a defensive wall with none of the practicality, but like, as if someone was trying and was like, that's all right. You know, it's got the visual, it's got the feeling, but not a lot to it.
Also, the entrance to the space is fully like the entrance of the town. Has no doors that close to it, so it looks more presentation than anything more present.
Beyond that, all the buildings are low and simple, wide and simply constructed. More from cobblestone. Now there are. There are pine bracings and thatch that go above them to make the roofs. So you get the feeling they're importing wood from somewhere. Either from somewhere else on the island or from a different location. But the building and the structure and all of it is just cobblestone. Cobblestone everywhere.
And some of it even looks rough, like as if hewn from below ground.
The paths in the town are well tread. The grass is a warm green. And there is a small citizenry of bustling people moving about.
A lot of fairly common humanoids, dwarven folk, some humans, some half dwarven folk, some elves, some half elves, maybe some halfling personage, but very.
Not that some peoples are necessarily more calm than others, but very typical human kin moving about the space and not a robust population. Everyone looks very quaintly and simply dressed and you all can't make it very far. And all. All around the buildings are the markers of simple life.
Our wooden barrels and stacks of hay and agricultural beasts of burden tied to things. This place doesn't look devoid of real capability. You can see the smokestack rising from a smithy some ways away. But this looks like a very subsistence community, right? Making what they can, maybe occasionally exporting outward from the town as you all approach.
You can't make it anywhere before everyone stops and gawks at you. All three foreignly clad individuals of vastly different makeups. Gif or not unheard of in Yalbrim, but they're not common, so you're quite a sight to be seen. Along with two big drakes.
And the members of the town kind of stop and people like nervously step aside and begin moving into homes. But other people sort of give interested glances as you all begin making your way in the town, moving by things. And the whole village seems to kind of slow itself and take notice of you. I would like procession checks.
[01:33:40] Speaker A: I have a question.
Is Lore. What continent is Lore on?
[01:33:46] Speaker B: It is its own island. It's off of unse.
[01:33:48] Speaker C: It's off of unsa.
[01:33:49] Speaker D: 10.
[01:33:50] Speaker B: Okay, 10.
That fits really well.
[01:33:54] Speaker C: What do you mean?
[01:33:55] Speaker A: Rolling white dance.
[01:34:00] Speaker B: Oh, man.
Okay, so only one person meets the dc. And that's crazy because what I'm going to describe is pretty obvious.
But it doesn't not, not work.
So first of all, Argyle. Well, you're talking and you're deeply engrossed in your Own thoughts, right? You're paying attention to your surroundings. You, you can hear your breath as you all walking the town. You're like, was the sun always this bright?
And you're like, yeah, every third breath is louder. You know it.
Are you breathing loud? You're not breathing loud. Meanwhile, you guys are walking and Nekton's over there going.
You're like, that's weird.
And so as argyles just give us a quick little soliloquy that he's just blathering.
[01:34:50] Speaker C: So I was talking to Kelly and I was like, kelly, you gotta stop. Like this club, like you started it, but it's becoming its own and the people want to take like initiative and.
[01:35:01] Speaker B: On top of it. So that's going on.
[01:35:04] Speaker C: Like, you gotta let the people have some space to feel like they think.
[01:35:08] Speaker B: Right as that's going on, you're over there going, and then you writing zeras.
Oh, what?
Okay, so the majority of the town's acting, I mean, startled, but normal, except for a couple of people.
So one dude is trying to walk away from you all, like to go, to go somewhere else to go get somebody. But he keeps stopping every few paces. Hold on, you're gonna want to let me finish.
He keeps stopping every few paces and listening and then continuing to walk and then stopping and listening and continuing to walk as if involuntarily, maybe 30 or 40ft away from him.
There is a woman who's like trying to pick up a pail to leave to go also inside. But she keeps stopping and holding her breath and then taking a few paces, holding her breath and then continuing.
There is also a man who begins like, kind of curiously. He, like opens his door. An older fellow, he looks at you all. He like, scratches a long, white, twisted beard. And not a good looking one where like the hair goes off in every direction. It's the kind of beard where it's like, I'm just not cutting this. I quit 20 years ago. And he like makes a few paces out the door before he gets a really disappointed look on his face.
He seems to have an involuntary movement of inner musculature. And then you watch as liquid begins to soil the front of his pants and spread out from his legs.
He gets a really disappointment look and walks back inside. And then right at the edge of the village, there are two kids playing like they're acting like a chicken following a grown woman who is. Has her arms folded at her side and is making a squawking motion and is pecking the ground with her head.
So those things are happening.
[01:36:56] Speaker A: I hit Argyle. I'm like, argyle. She, like, hits him in the face. A little hand on your face.
And she gestures to the. And she goes.
[01:37:08] Speaker B: 120Ft away, a grown woman has her arms pulled at her sides and is going with her head in the dirt as dirt spraying up around her head.
[01:37:16] Speaker C: Listen.
[01:37:17] Speaker B: You make eye contact from some distance away.
[01:37:19] Speaker D: She goes.
[01:37:20] Speaker B: And then hits her head on the ground again.
[01:37:22] Speaker C: I go, listen, Ravina.
[01:37:24] Speaker B: So you hear that? You are suddenly made aware of a. Okay, good. And you're like, oh, no.
They've come to get me.
[01:37:32] Speaker C: Have been telling me that it's important not to judge or Kylie.
[01:37:37] Speaker A: I don't think that's what this is. Nice.
[01:37:40] Speaker B: I think.
[01:37:41] Speaker A: Does it look like she turns to you?
[01:37:42] Speaker C: She goes, does it.
[01:37:43] Speaker A: Does it look like.
[01:37:47] Speaker D: Keep going.
[01:37:48] Speaker A: I feel like people aren't. I feel like people are doing things they don't want to do.
What?
[01:37:53] Speaker B: I was just checking something.
[01:37:54] Speaker D: Wait, checking that sentence is.
He understands the surface level of that and what it means, but then on an inner level, he also understands it as a. Yeah, that refers to me.
[01:38:11] Speaker B: I can see that there's sweat all over his forehead.
[01:38:17] Speaker C: So you think that lady doesn't want to be acting like a child.
[01:38:21] Speaker B: Are you all the courageous core approaching you all.
[01:38:27] Speaker A: Ravina tries to get off of Zara trying to grace acrobatics.
Yeah, that does.
[01:38:39] Speaker B: Really concave.
[01:38:41] Speaker A: I think she's trying to gracefully get off and do like a little heel kick and get off.
[01:38:45] Speaker B: Actually show me that acrobatics check.
How long can you cook?
[01:38:53] Speaker A: No, I'm lucky. I'm lucky. I'm a halfling, so I can re roll the nat one.
[01:38:56] Speaker B: Yes, that's true.
Jackie cooked the die for three minutes.
[01:39:03] Speaker A: It's a 12.
[01:39:04] Speaker B: Okay.
It doesn't look good. You. You kind of just slide off to the side and you fully make it to the ground. You don't fall over and you managed to kick one leg, just not the other. So it's like. It's this, like, kick, fall motion. And she's just like, okay. And before you is a humbly dressed dwarven woman. She has reddish tawny hair with little streaks of gray. She's got a pretty broad, flat nose.
She has skin that it's a little hard to tell if it's dark from, like a heritage. Right. From a melanistic standpoint or if it's just that she's had so much time in the sun. She looks like a very worked individual. She has broad things, thin pans with calluses. She has both smile and worry lines all over her face and her hair is kind of frizzy and she has on basic cloaks. And as she walks up to you all, a lot of the town that can normally pay attention is paying attention to you. One. One fellow who opens his door briefly goes and then puts his head back in, kind of concerned. And she, like, gets a worried look, but then looks back to you all and she says.
She looks up at you and she says, Hi, I'm Ella. Ms. Ella. This is D L L A for the note takers.
What? Sir?
[01:40:26] Speaker C: No, I don't say that.
[01:40:27] Speaker B: What did you say, sir?
What was that?
[01:40:29] Speaker C: In character.
[01:40:32] Speaker B: You are the courageous core.
[01:40:34] Speaker A: We are.
Nice to meet you.
[01:40:36] Speaker B: Really big, strong hand.
Really? Same size, but strong hand.
[01:40:41] Speaker C: Our girl does that thing where he like. He like. When he shakes hands with a woman, he like.
[01:40:48] Speaker B: She just goes and pulls her hand up and she goes.
[01:40:51] Speaker D: And the gift is gonna come in with a.
[01:40:53] Speaker B: She looks nervously at your massive hand and she goes, no, that's okay.
[01:40:59] Speaker C: It's a really fast handshake.
[01:41:02] Speaker B: You take her off, too.
You take her hand and throw her over you.
What's that? What's the.
No, but she goes, Inspiration, though. Thank you.
[01:41:20] Speaker D: I need it.
[01:41:21] Speaker B: Yeah, you do. She goes, well, our town has scraped together some gold. We can pay y'. All.
We have 20 total and we're just in desperate need. And we're not really sure why, but things have gone badly.
Strangely wrong, and we don't know why.
Over her shoulder, an individual. Yes, please, an individual. There's this sort of like, cool looking, like, cool demeanored, confident woman. She has, like a scar on her chin. She looks tough and built. She's listening confidently to you all. And then she goes.
It just throws up all over herself on the wall. She wipes her chin, cries a little and walks inside.
It's too far away, but she just wipes it. And she goes and walks in the house. And Misala continues and goes, yeah, things are weird.
[01:42:19] Speaker D: When did that start?
[01:42:20] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, when did this start?
[01:42:22] Speaker B: Right, right. First of all, is 20 enough?
[01:42:26] Speaker A: I'm not really even sure. I'm not too worried about that.
[01:42:30] Speaker B: I just.
[01:42:30] Speaker C: We're.
[01:42:31] Speaker B: We can get you more further on, but.
So it was about three weeks ago.
Thank you.
Would you be willing grabs? Yes.
[01:42:42] Speaker C: So I'm going to let you.
[01:42:43] Speaker B: Yes, thank you.
[01:42:44] Speaker C: And I'm going to get you creamer, Jackie.
[01:42:45] Speaker B: Thank you. Can I also have some creamer? It's really good for the Irish coffee.
[01:42:50] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah.
[01:42:52] Speaker B: Hold on. Let's see if we can get this on Mike.
Oh, crisp. That was a good sound.
Do you want some? Okay, I will give you the bottle. You feel free to pour.
So hold on, let's sit.
[01:43:15] Speaker D: You do that next to the mic too.
[01:43:17] Speaker B: I don't know if the listeners want that. Oh, that's so good. Anyway, and let me know if you want. I'm good. Okay.
[01:43:24] Speaker D: So don't do substances that alter the mind.
[01:43:29] Speaker B: Yeah. So she just continues and she says I've been going over the details as well as I can in my head, but it started about three weeks ago and essentially a real odd fella came to town.
And she points back over her shoulder. In this sort of like center of town there's not a whole lot of organized structure. There's like the dirt worn pathways through the town of where people walk move in a circular pattern around this big well. And maybe 30ft opposite to it is a statue, just a bronze starting to like patina statue of like a mountain, a little one but it's simply carved and it looks quite nice. And it's been rooted in the ground there. And she says an odd stranger came to town and offered to fashion for us a statue for free.
And we thought it was strange but then he showed us some of his other works and we thought it looked interesting. So we agreed he made it, he rooted it, he carved something in it and he left just as soon as he came.
And it was a weird interaction and stuff like that doesn't much happen around here but.
And a little tear gathers in the edge of her eyes. She goes, sorry, I'm okay.
So I, we.
We've been trying to figure out what.
[01:45:08] Speaker A: If you need a moment.
[01:45:11] Speaker B: She like doubles over.
We've been trying.
I'm so sorry.
[01:45:26] Speaker A: No, no, no, it's okay. And she, she prostitute hits for me.
[01:45:30] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:45:30] Speaker D: She.
[01:45:30] Speaker A: You're good, you're good.
[01:45:32] Speaker B: It's really stressful. I'm sure that's totally gone. What controls. Anyway, it's cast some sort of magic over us here I can see.
[01:45:40] Speaker D: But we don't gotten rid of the statue.
[01:45:43] Speaker B: Well, it's real heavy.
[01:45:46] Speaker A: Makes sense. What is the statue?
[01:45:48] Speaker B: And also come here. And she leads you all over. And as the drake's behind you, she likes nervously looks over her shoulder and she goes are those safe?
They're not going to eat any of my citizens.
[01:46:02] Speaker C: No, no, they don't.
[01:46:03] Speaker A: They don't eat. They don't eat nice citizens. And she looks back at Xerus Zeras.
[01:46:08] Speaker B: The nostrils flare and he goes one.
[01:46:10] Speaker C: Or Even mean citizens to be that matter.
[01:46:14] Speaker B: Correct.
[01:46:15] Speaker A: Your citizens are safe with us.
[01:46:19] Speaker B: Okay?
You hear. You hear a.
And she looks back over her shoulder and she didn't notice that Thern chortled, of course. And she's not supposed to laugh, she's not supposed to think, but she went and like, went back to acting like kind of like prowling like an animal. And she like, gives a nervous look to Zari and Zare just shakes his head. And she continues. And she says, come here. Or no, that's not her accent. She goes, come here. And you all come over to this about 4 foot tall bronze statue of a mountain.
It's very vague and simple. And you realize as you look off in the distance kind of resembles the one off in the distance. And it's bronze or it's at least blood bronze plated at the very least. And it's set into the ground. You're not exactly sure how deep. There's a little placard on the, on the front with some script carved onto it. And she continues and she says, I mean, it was sort of made in the image of the central mountain. And lore we thought it looked nice.
And he just offered it for free and then he left.
[01:47:16] Speaker D: Why is that mountain?
[01:47:18] Speaker B: I don't know. It was a really weird interaction. He was a little insistent, but kind of charming.
She said it was three weeks.
[01:47:27] Speaker A: Oh, so it was when they called us.
[01:47:29] Speaker B: Yeah, like pretty soon before. So basically he left and things started happening pretty quickly.
[01:47:35] Speaker C: So our dog has like, he's put little glasses on. Oh, no. Like a little teeny thing.
And he's got a little notebook out and he's holding it like. And he's like. So what did, what did this guy look like?
[01:47:48] Speaker A: Well, tell us everything you can remember about.
[01:47:51] Speaker B: He was. I don't.
[01:47:53] Speaker A: That's okay. It's okay.
[01:47:55] Speaker B: Hold on. I'm not.
We're from a small community, okay? We don't know some stuff, but it's not that we're prejudiced. We're just a little.
I'm an ignorance of pejorative, but what do you call folk who resemble dragons.
[01:48:10] Speaker C: But are not dragon?
[01:48:13] Speaker B: Okay. From a small community.
[01:48:16] Speaker A: We've all been there. We're always learning.
[01:48:17] Speaker B: There's a stressful. Several times. Okay, so he was a Dragonborn fella.
He was green. He had really. He had these big black horns, two here, two here. And they kind of curled a little bit.
He had a broad head and he was wearing these like bright purple robes and his shoes jingled.
They had bells.
[01:48:47] Speaker A: That's so sorry.
[01:48:48] Speaker D: Does Ravina know?
[01:48:50] Speaker B: Oh, Ravina doesn't jickle. Does J.
[01:48:55] Speaker C: This is. This is so fun. I knew it.
[01:48:59] Speaker A: I knew it.
[01:49:00] Speaker C: Are you.
[01:49:03] Speaker B: So, back to the session. We're playing. Back to the session. We're playing. And she says another important detail is that before we went to y', all, we got.
There's a caster up at the Capitol who can be sent by missive to come. And so we paid him to try and figure out what was magically going on with.
[01:49:23] Speaker A: Is he the one that's sent to us?
[01:49:25] Speaker B: Yes. Yes. His name's Buckler. He's nice.
He's got limited ability.
A lot for around here. And he. I saw that, Jackie. That was heartbreaking, watching the lead break on that pencil.
And she goes.
We asked him to figure out what's going on with the mountain, but he said it wasn't magical at all. So then when we couldn't figure anything out, we had him selling you all. There's a script written on the front, but none of us can read it.
[01:49:50] Speaker A: Can I look at it?
[01:49:50] Speaker B: Okay. You stoop down to look at the placard.
[01:49:53] Speaker A: Is this where you were looking at my sheet?
[01:49:55] Speaker B: No.
As the three of you all get close to the placard, what languages do you all speak?
Okay.
[01:50:05] Speaker A: Actually, also, Common, Elvish, Sylvan, and Halfling.
[01:50:09] Speaker B: Okay.
[01:50:10] Speaker D: I have. I know thieves can. Okay.
[01:50:14] Speaker B: Can you have the whiskey?
[01:50:16] Speaker C: Yes.
[01:50:17] Speaker B: Yes. To make the coffee Irish.
[01:50:20] Speaker C: I'm gonna measure. I have a measuring.
[01:50:21] Speaker B: Well, I would say this.
Okay. You can. The way I do it, pour in a little mix of it. See how it tastes. Right. Also, think to yourself, like, two seconds of continuous or three seconds of continuous smooth pour is typically about a shot. So you want, like, half of that, Right? So mix that. See how it tastes. If you wind up doing the second half for a full shot, that's still not very much. And you can see how you like the flavor.
[01:50:43] Speaker C: I'm gonna do that. I'm also gonna measure it.
[01:50:45] Speaker D: Okay.
[01:50:45] Speaker B: Live your dreams, do you?
[01:50:47] Speaker C: I'm gonna use your method, too.
[01:50:48] Speaker B: Absolutely. Responsible alcohol habits for those who are old enough to drink.
But what were we saying?
[01:50:59] Speaker A: Buckler said it.
[01:51:00] Speaker B: Oh, you all look down as you all squat down. None of you all recognize this. Anyone who's proficient in history could give me a check. Actually, who said they spoke?
[01:51:09] Speaker D: Half of them.
[01:51:11] Speaker B: Give me an intelligence check. Straight intelligence. Just straight intelligence.
[01:51:20] Speaker A: I got a 16.
[01:51:24] Speaker B: Okay, that is enough.
You don't read the language, but you recognize it. It's structurally similar to Halfling. This Is gnomish.
You recognize it, but you can't read it.
[01:51:34] Speaker A: Let's call it greta. She's what, like 200 at this point?
[01:51:40] Speaker B: I don't know.
Should she be like.
No, because you're not. 280 now.
Isn't she like, 247?
[01:51:48] Speaker C: Yes. 147.
[01:51:49] Speaker B: Yeah. Yeah. She's in her early 40s, which means she's a kid, but. Or at least a teenager, but. Anywho, we're getting lost on that for no reason.
Is there a way the party tries to handle this?
[01:52:03] Speaker A: I say that it's Nomish.
[01:52:04] Speaker B: I ask.
[01:52:06] Speaker A: She was a dwarf. Correct, I say. Well, it looks no mish to me. Do you have anyone in town?
[01:52:11] Speaker B: We tried our real. Tried our. Our folks around here.
[01:52:14] Speaker A: Okay.
[01:52:14] Speaker B: We can't. We don't know. No, nobody can speak yet.
[01:52:18] Speaker A: Yeah, of course.
[01:52:22] Speaker B: I'm so sorry. It's done weird things to us, the enchantment.
[01:52:26] Speaker A: No, it's perfectly.
[01:52:27] Speaker B: So sorry.
[01:52:28] Speaker A: No, I completely.
[01:52:31] Speaker B: I'm so sorry.
Oh, no.
And she's got, like, tears in her eyes again.
[01:52:36] Speaker A: As far as when. When this buckler came, did.
When he came, did he start getting these symptoms as well? Anyone that spends a good amount of time.
[01:52:48] Speaker B: Everyone. Just some of us. It's random. The burping and the barfing. Today was the first I've had of it in two days. But it's so all over the place. Anyone around.
[01:52:56] Speaker A: There's no connecting factors of everyone that's having issues.
[01:53:01] Speaker B: We don't know.
We don't know if there is, if there isn't, but we haven't been able to terminate.
[01:53:05] Speaker A: Is it affecting any children?
[01:53:07] Speaker B: Yeah. Oh, no.
[01:53:09] Speaker D: Is there anyone who's not affected by this?
[01:53:11] Speaker A: Like, if that hasn't been at all?
[01:53:12] Speaker B: There are folks who haven't had anything happen to them yet, but we can't. We don't know if it's because something's different about them or if it's just that it hasn't gotten them yet. Okay, but little Billy craps so hard, he fell asleep.
It was awful.
They had to throw the pants out, and pants are expensive already.
We only have pens out if the defecation is sufficient to alter the family.
No, that's in the laws of nature.
[01:53:42] Speaker A: Well, if anyone has pants that they don't want to throw out, I can help with the cleaning of the pants.
[01:53:49] Speaker B: That'd be great, but we really just want this magical pen.
[01:53:51] Speaker A: No, I understand. But in the meantime, while we're figuring this out, as far as.
[01:53:59] Speaker B: All this.
[01:53:59] Speaker A: Started happening to some people immediately.
[01:54:01] Speaker C: Correct.
[01:54:02] Speaker B: About an hour or two after the fellow left.
[01:54:05] Speaker A: After the statue was finished or after he left?
[01:54:07] Speaker B: After he left.
[01:54:09] Speaker A: And how long was he here before he left, like between finishing the statue?
[01:54:15] Speaker B: Oh, it took him hours to get the statue in here. He had to put it on a cart and wheel it in and bring it in. But once he had it in the ground, he just did some mumbling and walked away.
[01:54:25] Speaker C: He did some mumbling you said?
[01:54:26] Speaker B: Yeah, but none of us are particularly magical.
[01:54:29] Speaker C: Did you see anything?
[01:54:30] Speaker B: About 60ft over Ella's shoulder, there's a guy who's like leaned over listening with his elbow on a wall and then all of a sudden he goes cross eyed, he puts his hands on the post in front of him and he.
[01:54:40] Speaker C: Goes.
[01:54:43] Speaker B: And starts chewing it and he goes and wipes his tongue off and just looks disappointed and goes back to listening.
[01:54:50] Speaker A: Okay, Whoever is here that has not.
[01:54:59] Speaker C: Had a single symptom, could you round.
[01:55:02] Speaker A: Them up and us take a look at them?
[01:55:04] Speaker B: Well, I was one of them up until the barfing.
[01:55:06] Speaker A: You were one of them up until today?
[01:55:08] Speaker B: Just now.
[01:55:09] Speaker A: Oh no. Okay, well could you round up everyone else that hasn't had a single symptom into one group and then everyone that has had symptoms into another group?
[01:55:19] Speaker B: I'll do my best. That's the whole town and people are doing stuff. Some people probably sleep.
[01:55:24] Speaker A: Anyone that's not working.
[01:55:25] Speaker C: So like how many people would you say haven't been affected?
[01:55:28] Speaker A: Yeah, how many people are in the town total?
[01:55:31] Speaker B: Well, we've got, we've got 65 of us total. Okay, 63 haven't had something happen to them yet. Right, well, two now.
[01:55:39] Speaker A: Okay, well you stay with us. Are you like, are you the mayor or.
[01:55:43] Speaker B: We don't have a formally, but folks, trust me, I've been around, I've been around the band a few times.
[01:55:48] Speaker A: Okay, could you take us right now to the people that haven't had any trouble?
[01:55:52] Speaker B: Sure. Martha, get your kid, I'll get dimples. And she walks off.
Two or three minutes later she returns with this old fellow who has these like really large.
There are glass discs attached to frames, but he wearing the frames are set metal, they cannot be adjusted. You can put the glasses on, you can take them off. You get the feeling they were made to the shape of his head because no one around here has the resources to make flexible glasses. Also when I say they are glasses, there is glass. The glass is dim and foggy and you get the feeling that this man is probably so close to Blind that this is just slightly better. So they're on his face. His eyes look about as big as the glasses, which are too big, but they're also so fuzzed out of detail. It's really kind of unsettling to look at them because there's just these big brown discs here. He walks up and he has this immense walrus mustache and absolutely no other hair on his head.
And he's kind of old and spindly. And he walks up in a thin cloak and he goes.
I don't know how much it'll be helping you.
[01:57:04] Speaker D: I had nothing to go wrong.
[01:57:05] Speaker B: Me up and I'm feeling real weird. I'm concerned.
[01:57:10] Speaker A: Are you feeling weird how, sir?
[01:57:12] Speaker B: No, I'm not feeling anything curly in the moment, but I'm concerned. She.
[01:57:19] Speaker D: Insight to see if you may be used to do drugs.
[01:57:23] Speaker B: Yeah, go ahead, give me an inside check.
[01:57:28] Speaker C: What.
[01:57:28] Speaker B: What is.
[01:57:29] Speaker A: What does this man look like? Like what?
[01:57:31] Speaker B: He looks. He looks like a human.
He looks like an older human.
[01:57:33] Speaker D: 15.
[01:57:34] Speaker B: No, that's just a specific kind of hick you don't recognize with a real heavy accent.
[01:57:40] Speaker A: Are most of the people just looking around, Are they mostly human?
[01:57:45] Speaker B: Mostly human. Related human kin. And everyone around here looks fairly mixed. It looks like a real small community and everybody's probably a little related to everybody with a little bit of in and out flow. I'm not saying we have like incest, but like, you get the feeling that nobody here here is going to be particularly genetically distinct from anyone else. Okay. Real small community.
[01:58:05] Speaker A: Okay. So we have a really old person and a really young person that hasn't been affected.
[01:58:09] Speaker B: The child hasn't arrived yet. But the older man continues and he says.
[01:58:22] Speaker D: Anyone here in this town who is older than you.
[01:58:30] Speaker B: Do I understand him.
Give me. Give me an insight check. Ms. Ella is listening attentively and she's translating. You get the feeling.
You get the feeling that what in the. And you know, thieves can't. What is he saying? Ms. Ella is standing nearby and clearly this is an accent regional to where they're from. And she says he's just saying that he's worried that if y' all don't figure out something soon, it's gonna happen to him. And he wants to know if he can't read the writing on the front of the statue because he said that's what nobody can figure out.
It's about this time that a kid runs up with a stick in hand.
Small, half dwarven kiddo, dark skin, he's got like a big afro and he's got a stick in his hand and.
[01:59:10] Speaker A: He goes, give me the bad guy.
[01:59:11] Speaker B: And I'll get him.
[01:59:13] Speaker A: That's very.
I mean, that's why we're here. We'd love your help. What's your name, young man?
[01:59:21] Speaker B: And he looks up at Zeris, who just kind of like immediately sits down like a big dog and wraps his tail up around himself and kind of looks. Thern, like, kind of wags her tail and sits down and he goes, what's that?
[01:59:38] Speaker A: These are our lovely.
[01:59:40] Speaker B: What are you?
[01:59:41] Speaker A: Drakes?
[01:59:43] Speaker D: I am my gift.
[01:59:44] Speaker B: You are so big.
[01:59:46] Speaker D: Thank you.
[01:59:47] Speaker A: This is Zeras and Thern.
You can.
You can pet Zair.
[01:59:54] Speaker B: He like, kind of. He goes.
[01:59:58] Speaker A: It'S okay. You don't have to. You don't have to.
[02:00:00] Speaker C: Maybe you should.
[02:00:01] Speaker A: What is your name?
[02:00:02] Speaker D: If they haven't killed me yet, they won't hurt you.
[02:00:06] Speaker A: Anyway.
[02:00:08] Speaker B: He, like, kind of holds the stick kind of close and points. What's your name?
[02:00:11] Speaker C: What's your name?
They.
[02:00:13] Speaker A: They're. They're like big teddy bears.
[02:00:15] Speaker B: He looks nervously up at Mella, and Mella leans down and goes, honey, you don't have to be here. And he goes.
He turns around like. And like. And like, jogs off nervously.
[02:00:24] Speaker D: I feel very sorry.
[02:00:25] Speaker B: Yeah, just like instant regret life, too. Give me, give me, give me a retroactive charisma sound.
[02:00:37] Speaker D: And that's disadvantage.
[02:00:38] Speaker B: Yeah.
Okay.
Oh, about 14.
Oh, it's disadvantage. Oh, cuz. It was the other way. Yeah, I got confused with the D. You're good.
Okay. You kept it together. You were not tweaking out when you said, killed me. They'll kill you or something. You were like. You said it normally. And M goes, so I don't know how much more there is from Dimples or. It just seems like it's kind of happening to folks.
[02:01:08] Speaker C: Yes. I turn on Dimples and I go, hey, man, I don't know.
I just want it.
[02:01:14] Speaker B: He, like, huffs and his mustache goes.
[02:01:17] Speaker C: I just want to let you know that you're gonna be okay. And I like, put a. I put a gentle hand on my shoulder and I say these other, like, we're gonna get this figured out. And even if it does happen to you, it's not gonna. It's not gonna last forever.
[02:01:31] Speaker B: He puts his hand on your shoulders and gets kind of closer than you expected him to do. He's really listening.
[02:01:36] Speaker C: I say, if it does happen, it's not going to last.
It might, but if it does, you'll be okay.
[02:01:45] Speaker B: Vomit's all over the front of you just. Right down your chest and your clothes and your stomach. He goes, I'm sorry. I don't think it was good.
He does it a second time.
[02:01:58] Speaker C: I like. I pat his back and I like, feel like I like, try and like.
[02:02:01] Speaker B: He goes. He goes, no, no, that's gross.
[02:02:05] Speaker A: I. I trust the digit away.
[02:02:07] Speaker C: I say, it's okay. We're gonna get this figured out. And nobody else has died. And I look at Ms. Ella and.
[02:02:14] Speaker B: She goes, nobody's died.
[02:02:16] Speaker A: Nobody's died. It's just inconvenient.
[02:02:18] Speaker C: So you're gonna be okay.
[02:02:19] Speaker A: Very inconvenient.
[02:02:20] Speaker C: And just I.
[02:02:25] Speaker D: Miss Ella.
[02:02:26] Speaker B: I'll see you. I like him. Turns it up.
[02:02:28] Speaker D: Who was the first person to show these symptoms?
[02:02:32] Speaker B: Well, two folks peed themselves at the same time.
They pissed right in their pants. They didn't even use their hands.
Awful.
[02:02:43] Speaker A: Awfully.
[02:02:46] Speaker D: Yes.
[02:02:46] Speaker C: Disadvantage on everything.
[02:02:50] Speaker D: I was gonna say dbspiration.
[02:02:54] Speaker B: I gain a permanent influence.
[02:02:58] Speaker A: Robina goes up to the statue.
[02:03:00] Speaker B: Excellent. And as we return to the plot.
[02:03:02] Speaker A: Point, she would like to inspect the statue to see if there's any like.
[02:03:09] Speaker B: Give me an investigation.
You had something different. You can get to something next time.
[02:03:13] Speaker D: Sure. I actually would like to investigate as well.
[02:03:17] Speaker B: Okay. What for?
[02:03:18] Speaker D: I'm looking. Sorry. I'm gonna wait for you to be done.
[02:03:20] Speaker A: Well, because I didn't get to.
[02:03:22] Speaker B: Yeah, go ahead.
[02:03:22] Speaker D: Go ahead.
[02:03:23] Speaker A: No, go ahead.
[02:03:27] Speaker B: Here, you roll the die and she'll roll a die, and then we'll talk about the numbers that.
[02:03:30] Speaker A: Okay. Specifically, I was looking for like a lever or a hatch or something that it like lifts up.
[02:03:35] Speaker B: You're looking for a secret.
[02:03:36] Speaker A: Yeah, some kind of secret thing.
[02:03:37] Speaker B: I'm looking for.
[02:03:38] Speaker D: For markings or irregularities that would not be. I'm going to use maybe mountainous terrain or something that doesn't. That just looks out of place.
[02:03:45] Speaker C: I would. Can I make it.
Can I. I would like to. Can I look at specifically how it was. How it's affixed into the ground. And I'll probably like, dig just a little bit to see what give me.
[02:03:56] Speaker B: Investigation check as well.
[02:03:57] Speaker A: I got a 19.
[02:03:58] Speaker B: Okay. Oh, man, we're so back. So go back. We're so over.
[02:04:09] Speaker A: Abby.
[02:04:10] Speaker B: It's not like you're not a funny player all the time, because you are. You're a funny person. But dude, you're on fire tonight.
[02:04:15] Speaker C: Yeah, well, it's cuz I'm playing Arab. He makes me funnier.
[02:04:20] Speaker B: I kind of regret giving you that compliment now. So you like, dig down with your hands. It appears to be metal and you're you're. You're defensive.
You keep digging somewhere down here, there's got to be something.
And Michelle is he just digging in there with his hands. And Michelle is just like, oh, no.
[02:04:39] Speaker A: And happening to him.
And I'm like, he's just like that.
[02:04:48] Speaker B: That's normal. He just goes, glad we got help.
Now, Ravina, you got a 19. As you study it, it just looks like a carving of a mountain. It's so plain and normal with a 23 Mechten.
As you look over the area, you don't find any irregularities with its fixing or structure, but you do find an irregularity in the area around it.
There are the areas trodden all around on the ground, but you notice that a small distance away, there are three. Three points in the dirt, like pushed kind of a way. As you follow it, there's another three over here, another three over here.
And with that hive and investigation check, it's also going to go into your reasoning. Also, you've had some extra legal activities in your life. You've paid attention for small details.
This soil is too compacted to get like a footprint, but if you had claws at the end of your feet, it would track with every couple of steps.
And so how big are these?
Pretty normal foot size.
And she mentioned he was a dragon born.
So if he had for some reason taken his shoes off at some point, his claws would be tracking in the dirt as he like took a step forward.
[02:06:05] Speaker D: Would I know approximately or be able to guess how old they are?
[02:06:11] Speaker A: How old the footprints are?
You mean another investigation? For a second I was like, how 19, dude, you're.
[02:06:19] Speaker B: What's your investigation like? Oh, you have expertise.
[02:06:22] Speaker D: Yeah. Or. No, not expertise. It's.
[02:06:25] Speaker B: You better have expertise if you have a plus nine at level seven.
[02:06:29] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah, I spent a lot of time. Okay, that probably isn't.
[02:06:33] Speaker B: And you have a plus nine and level seven, you have expertise, but expertise is something that rogues have. So I bet that's it.
[02:06:38] Speaker D: Okay. That probably is.
[02:06:40] Speaker B: I think it is. Especially because anyway, it's.
[02:06:43] Speaker A: No, it's.
[02:06:43] Speaker B: Dude, it's cool.
With a 19, they're pretty old when you get really close and pure with one eye. Massive give eye.
It's cracked along the edges. It's dried out with the soil around it.
[02:07:00] Speaker D: Yeah.
[02:07:02] Speaker B: So probably about the time it was placed. So you're like, oh, he walked away a direction.
That's what you keys up.
[02:07:09] Speaker D: What's in that direction?
[02:07:12] Speaker B: You, like, look off. It just eases out to one of the entrances or exits away from the wall. At one point, she kind of goes east, southeast.
[02:07:21] Speaker D: I'm gonna communicate this to.
I'm just gonna let our footprints have leading off that way.
[02:07:31] Speaker B: You're really settling into this voice, isn't it? I like it. You're killing it.
Well. And once you find a voice and your body goes, oh, I know how to do this. Yeah, you can settle in it. I like it. Yeah.
[02:07:42] Speaker A: Do they end anywhere?
[02:07:45] Speaker D: I guess.
[02:07:45] Speaker B: Point to where?
[02:07:46] Speaker D: The last one.
[02:07:46] Speaker B: No, they.
[02:07:47] Speaker D: Or they keep. They just keep continuing.
So I guess I don't see an end to it.
[02:07:51] Speaker B: And as he points out, you guys can notice it.
[02:07:53] Speaker D: Yeah.
[02:07:53] Speaker B: Walks away for you.
[02:07:55] Speaker A: Oh, I guess that could have been when he left.
[02:07:58] Speaker B: She turns red. Yeah, he went out kind of that direction.
[02:08:03] Speaker A: Did you say he had a name?
[02:08:05] Speaker B: I didn't give himself a name. He just came in, asked if we wanted it.
[02:08:08] Speaker C: No one asked.
[02:08:12] Speaker B: He was kind of squirmy with the way he talked, you know? You think? I mean, he was just good with his words. You'd ask what he was doing, and he'd turn the subject around on you, but in a friendly way. And he was bringing us a gift for no reason.
[02:08:25] Speaker A: Did he talk kind of weird?
[02:08:26] Speaker B: He did. He had a funny voice. He didn't sound like he was from around here. It's a little like yours, but different still. And I'm sorry. I didn't mean that rude again. I just mean, like, he definitely didn't sound like he was from around here. I haven't heard a whole lot of foreign accents, to be quite frank. All of y' all talk funny to me. I'm sure I sound funny to you, but I'd never heard his accent before.
[02:08:50] Speaker D: All right, I'm trying to find out.
[02:08:52] Speaker B: Dude.
[02:08:52] Speaker D: It's okay.
[02:08:53] Speaker B: It's okay.
[02:08:54] Speaker A: Did he say if he was.
What kind of magic he did?
[02:08:59] Speaker C: Like, if he was a wizard?
[02:09:00] Speaker A: No, no. He was a bard or.
[02:09:03] Speaker B: What are. What are those?
[02:09:06] Speaker A: Never mind.
I'd like to try something thing.
[02:09:18] Speaker B: Are you saying that to me in character?
[02:09:20] Speaker C: Yes.
[02:09:21] Speaker B: Understood.
[02:09:22] Speaker A: If everyone would just stand back.
[02:09:25] Speaker B: She takes a couple steps back.
Zerus treads back. He actually. He actually reaches down and picks thern up by the scruff and walks away with her. Puts her down. She, like, flails and kicks a little.
[02:09:35] Speaker A: Bit 10ft away from the statue. Everyone, please.
[02:09:38] Speaker B: Everybody steps back.
[02:09:39] Speaker D: I'm gonna take a cue from the dragon.
[02:09:43] Speaker B: Yeah, you step back.
[02:09:44] Speaker D: Probably step back.
[02:09:45] Speaker C: Teeth.
[02:09:47] Speaker A: I'm going to cast earth tremor at the second level.
[02:09:54] Speaker B: Oh, cool.
[02:09:55] Speaker A: As a statue. Like, in the radius of the statue that's dope.
[02:10:00] Speaker B: Remind me of the details of earth tremor.
[02:10:02] Speaker A: Yeah, Cuz it's not in the lair chain. Look, it's on Xanapar.
[02:10:05] Speaker B: I was about to say, I think that was.
Let me change up the music here.
[02:10:12] Speaker A: So earth tremor. You have a tremor in the ground and within a 10 foot radius from wherever yourself is.
Each creature other than you in that area must make a dex save on a fail save. Creature takes bludgeoning. Ignore. If the ground in that area is loose, earth or stone, it will become difficult terrain.
[02:10:29] Speaker B: Okay.
[02:10:30] Speaker A: And if you cast a spell using a spell out of second level or higher, the damage is increased by 1d6. So that's why I was doing it at 2 to 3.
[02:10:37] Speaker B: See if it would knock loose anything. Okay. Absolutely.
You don't. We don't need casting details for anything. Is there a particular flavor? You're like, no, I'm just casting.
[02:10:48] Speaker A: It swirls around.
[02:10:48] Speaker B: You play through a couple hard notes like.
And as you do, that last one catches on the ground and the ground and everybody around goes, oh. And you know, people look surprised. One guys and squeals and goes, but one person goes, wow. Picks up their shoe, hucks it. Another person goes, dave, I'm so sorry.
But people look impressed by the display of magic. And as you do, the whole statue vibrates with the noise. It tilts slightly in the ground as the ground fractures around it. And as you press it, it seems like maybe there's some hard stone beneath the statue and it pushes.
The statue bends a little bit. You bend, you bend part of the metal. It might be hollow on the inside. Like it's not a particularly densely made statue. Which would help explain how one person with a cart could drag it and still weigh a lot, but. And the metal slightly.
Hey, Rick. Hey. I really respect that you went back and reverse engineered your own features. It matters. The person understands how their features work. Also, you need a player's handbook at any point. I have one for you. Okay.
[02:11:56] Speaker D: Thank you. Yep.
[02:11:57] Speaker A: Nexon.
[02:11:58] Speaker B: Yes.
[02:11:59] Speaker A: Since you are the best fight for that statue, would you mind going and taking a peek at it and see if I loosened it any?
[02:12:07] Speaker D: I shall.
[02:12:08] Speaker C: I'll go too, just in case.
[02:12:09] Speaker A: Okay.
[02:12:11] Speaker D: I like.
[02:12:12] Speaker B: I like what's happening.
[02:12:15] Speaker D: So I guess we walk up and you said it was like kind of caved in.
[02:12:18] Speaker B: Well, so the ground tilted it askew and the pressure.
[02:12:21] Speaker D: I was actually not paying attention while I was flipping on my phone.
[02:12:24] Speaker B: It's really okay. It's okay. And the rocks below it as they were shifted, they pinched in on a little bit. It's clearly hollow on the inside. Not very strong. And it can't ground underneath. Like. Like it definitely has a solid center of the statue because it couldn't resist the force. Instead of just tilting with the ground, it like compressed inward, and it sort of pushed inward now.
And so as you walk up, you study its features. It looks like a hollow metal fixture that is pressed inwards.
[02:12:52] Speaker A: Can you push it or anything, like, over?
[02:12:55] Speaker D: I can try that.
[02:12:56] Speaker B: Give me that flex shot.
[02:12:57] Speaker A: Did it come loose from the ground?
[02:12:59] Speaker B: Okay, you have an advantage.
Yes.
[02:13:02] Speaker A: Heck, yeah.
[02:13:04] Speaker B: In the most.
In the most technical sense, you have advantage. Okay.
[02:13:09] Speaker C: I dash against it.
Bonus action.
[02:13:12] Speaker B: 18. Hey, you're a. You're a big guy. For all intents and purposes. You're like an NFL, like, defensive end. And as you. As you walk up. I mean, not my strength score, but my size in every measure. No.
Holy crap. What am I saying? You are in every way. You could walk right into the NFL. You are.
Holy crap. You're comically strong.
[02:13:34] Speaker D: You want to know why it's that that score was originally like that.
[02:13:37] Speaker B: Is it because of the build stuff?
[02:13:38] Speaker D: I have gauntlet of ogre power as my. They automatically increases your strength.
[02:13:43] Speaker B: Holy crap. Okay, I think. And that is fully within the boundaries for you. A thing I didn't describe is that this entire time Nexen's been wearing these massive silver gauntlets with bronze reliefs of an ogre's face on the back.
Yeah, that's a really. That's a visual item. That makes you a whole lot more imposing.
[02:14:01] Speaker D: I would thought they were just like.
[02:14:02] Speaker B: No. And with great strength, you take the statue and the whole thing when it's just a full rotation, and as it slides out, it's got cake stone and dirt around it. It looks like a big statue that was upended, pushed in from rock and pushed out of the ground. There's a big divot in the ground. And she goes.
[02:14:21] Speaker A: I go, look.
[02:14:22] Speaker B: I go, okay, she's digging through the rocks. It's a lot of rock and dirt. And she goes, find any? You find anything?
[02:14:31] Speaker D: Look to Argyle.
[02:14:34] Speaker B: No, it's dirt and rock.
[02:14:36] Speaker A: Ravenna looks.
Ravenna looks to Zair and goes, you don't by chance we can have machine. She like, whispers it under breath.
[02:14:45] Speaker B: Judgingly, he like, you all have worked with this long enough. His tail goes.
And you. That's. No one swishes. Yes, and I didn't think so. And she gives you a weird look, but just lets you guys keep know what you're doing.
[02:14:59] Speaker A: I like.
[02:14:59] Speaker C: I, like, dig through enough and I. Not seeing anything very obviously.
I jump up and I go over to Necktop and I.
Neptune Nekton.
[02:15:12] Speaker B: I thought you said necktie, but I'm really digging this. But come on. How funny is it if Argyle just can't quite get his name right? My fiance, ladies and gentlemen, remember the.
[02:15:23] Speaker A: First few times that Argyle, our girl, didn't remember our gurgle.
[02:15:27] Speaker B: Our girl.
[02:15:30] Speaker A: She spent too much time in this game.
[02:15:32] Speaker C: I will.
I really think we should put this back because they're having a hard time and I think they can at least have this beautiful.
[02:15:38] Speaker B: You all look at the ruined ground and the trash statue.
[02:15:42] Speaker C: The statue doesn't really seem to be the issue.
So I'm thinking we should at least leave them with something beautiful while we go and try and solve their problem in the words, which I think we should go.
[02:15:51] Speaker D: I don't.
[02:15:52] Speaker A: I don't know about that.
[02:15:53] Speaker D: I don't think they're.
[02:15:55] Speaker A: I feel like Ravina comes over.
I don't think they care about the statues.
[02:16:00] Speaker B: If you guys are being particularly quiet and Ms. Ella walks up and goes, honestly, it's a bummer, but it's ruined now. And I'd really just like to. I'd really just like for my citizens to quit pissing their pants.
[02:16:11] Speaker D: If you were constantly pissing yourself, what would you want?
[02:16:13] Speaker C: Guys, I just think that. I just think that you guys are overvaluing the power.
[02:16:19] Speaker B: And a breeze comes by through the town and you guys hear on the wind. You should really follow those tracks. That was the obvious plot.
[02:16:27] Speaker D: Yeah.
[02:16:28] Speaker B: He's gonna start walking towards the tracks, gonna stop, turn around and head towards the direction.
As you incline your head in the direction Zaris gets up and start moving. Learn too. They're bored of this and they start following you.
[02:16:42] Speaker C: I go up to Ms. Ellen, I miss Ella. Before we leave, I promise we will at least put the statue back on and speak for you.
[02:16:50] Speaker D: Sure, Argyle, sure.
[02:16:51] Speaker A: You guys can keep the 20 gold.
We just want to figure out what's going on here.
[02:16:56] Speaker B: Honestly. That's feeling kind of fair now.
[02:16:59] Speaker C: Thank you.
[02:17:02] Speaker B: Ro. Kind of.
[02:17:03] Speaker A: I mean, Ravina kind of.
[02:17:06] Speaker B: You guys walk, and as you guys walk, you catch other perfect.
Her looking really sad at all the broken ground in the ruined statue. And she just.
And the party's walking away.
[02:17:17] Speaker D: I haven't expected her to throw up.
[02:17:18] Speaker B: That I should have. What a missed opportunity.
Anywho, I guess understatement counts too.
The party continues for about 2, 300ft out of the town. And then the Tracks go away.
[02:17:34] Speaker D: What are the last set of tracks look like?
[02:17:37] Speaker B: The soil is a little more moist and you get the imprint of two slipper shoes.
[02:17:42] Speaker C: It's feeling.
[02:17:42] Speaker B: He walked for a distance and then put the slippers back on as if kind of intentionally gain a little clue.
[02:17:50] Speaker A: I'd like to look around for any.
Yeah, I would like to do a history check. Also as Ravina.
[02:18:03] Speaker B: Are you proficient in history?
[02:18:07] Speaker A: What am I.
What am I doing? Perception.
[02:18:10] Speaker B: That's a two.
How do you know this is gonna.
Yep.
No. Six.
[02:18:17] Speaker A: I'm sorry.
[02:18:17] Speaker C: Well, I got a.
[02:18:18] Speaker D: It don't matter.
[02:18:20] Speaker A: Six.
What's happening?
[02:18:24] Speaker B: Are you looking around? For the sake of the party, I'm.
[02:18:26] Speaker D: Going to suited look. But I'm specifically looking in the direction that ends up.
[02:18:32] Speaker B: Good. Thank you. Go ahead and give me a perception check.
Jeez.
[02:18:37] Speaker D: 17.
[02:18:38] Speaker B: Okay. With sweat beading on your brow, you look off in the distance.
Oh, the ground kind of rises up into like, there's a hill out there somewhere. The topography is changing.
[02:18:49] Speaker D: There's no trees or anything. It's just.
[02:18:52] Speaker B: Oh, a dirt path resumes some way away from the town. This is a path of travel, actually. Away from the town.
Yes.
[02:18:58] Speaker A: I'd like to do history check for about 12 years ago. I remember a funny guy in purple robes.
[02:19:06] Speaker B: We met.
[02:19:08] Speaker A: I'd like to do a history check because I'm remembering purple. That seems not a lot of people wear purple except me.
[02:19:15] Speaker B: That's my shtick. Get your own shirt. Also. What are you trying to recall? Just details about this individual.
[02:19:20] Speaker A: Yeah. Like if they were a dragon or not.
And if they have jingle shoes. And if they were silly.
15.
[02:19:33] Speaker B: Ravina, you comb your memory different.
[02:19:37] Speaker C: Different.
[02:19:38] Speaker B: And you know what occurs to you?
[02:19:41] Speaker C: Purple.
[02:19:42] Speaker B: That's a color Royalty. People try to look ostentatious. Maybe, maybe not. The guy was halfling, not dragonborn.
Jingling shoes. But you know what?
You know something. You notice multiple times you're interacting with that individual.
The physical size of the individual and the way they manipulated objects didn't always line up.
So it's not impossible that individual was disguised.
[02:20:08] Speaker A: Because I know a lot about illusions because of teloge and Palodrip Persona, it.
[02:20:13] Speaker B: Occurs to you that that might have been a disguised individual.
[02:20:17] Speaker A: I tell all this to my trusty friend Argyll.
[02:20:21] Speaker B: You're also there.
[02:20:22] Speaker A: And you're also there.
[02:20:23] Speaker B: Not saying it to you.
[02:20:26] Speaker A: Say it to everyone.
[02:20:27] Speaker B: But as this conversation is continuing, you look off in the distance. Ah, a road and a rise in topography. A clear, obvious plot point two point.
[02:20:35] Speaker C: That guy that we met with the.
[02:20:36] Speaker A: Staff guy was really interested in there, huh? He was purple and jingly and weird.
[02:20:41] Speaker C: Should we leave him in the interest.
[02:20:43] Speaker B: Of pursuing purple and jingly things?
[02:20:45] Speaker D: I think we should go into that hub over there.
[02:20:47] Speaker B: I don't love what this character.
[02:20:50] Speaker C: So I walk and I talk.
[02:20:51] Speaker A: Okay. Yeah, we're walking and talking and talking. We're walking and talking and talking. I like to think that the dynamic really is like that of when there's a group of friends and two friends have obviously known each other a long time and you're there and we want you to be a part of it, but we're too used to start talking.
[02:21:10] Speaker C: And then it's like we say one thing and then it just evolves into 10 other things that only we know about. Or that, like, I start hearing inside jokes.
[02:21:17] Speaker A: We saw a guy, he had jingly purple shoes and he was kind of weird.
So, you know we're saying this while we're walking. Yeah, while we're walking.
While we're walking.
[02:21:28] Speaker B: And so the party continues on as I finally make it to the third page page of my notes.
Y. It's 9:30. Yeah. We're going to take a break here in a second. This is not going to be a short session. This is awesome. Let me know if anyone has a 4am tomorrow or something.
So. But hey, we're having a great time. This is amazing. Yeah. It's Friday night.
I miss my wife. She's at a bachelor party.
[02:21:52] Speaker A: She started.
[02:21:55] Speaker B: This is how I know y the.
[02:21:57] Speaker D: Same in real life as you are with your characters.
[02:22:09] Speaker A: We know there's nothing we can do.
[02:22:11] Speaker B: I can't believe you hit me with the she started listener. Zach is now furiously flipping through the monster.
[02:22:19] Speaker A: I'm the oldest one here and I said she started.
[02:22:22] Speaker B: And zero of us are just are surprised.
Oh my goodness. I can't work my Alphabet.
You guys are being saved by my incompetence.
Oh, geez. That's a lot of hit points.
[02:22:36] Speaker D: That was not a good thing to say.
[02:22:39] Speaker A: I never know what I say is gonna trigger him. What am I supposed to.
[02:22:43] Speaker B: Don't you?
Don't you.
Was it like three at the beginning of the session? Anyway, so the body get hit after.
After a half hour walk.
[02:23:00] Speaker A: Oh, so he gets paid on the end.
[02:23:03] Speaker C: Pissy in my pants.
[02:23:09] Speaker B: After a half hour walk filled with rising temperature and pleasant weather, you all are led to some hills of bald stone face.
Hey, there's nothing wrong with having your hair.
[02:23:23] Speaker D: It's okay.
[02:23:24] Speaker B: Okay. Laced with colorful lichen and craggy formations, bathed in warm Light.
This. The hilly. This rise of the potter tree leads up to.
[02:23:36] Speaker A: There was a normal descriptor.
[02:23:37] Speaker B: I'm describing the theme.
[02:23:39] Speaker A: Is it like seedling or.
[02:23:40] Speaker B: No, it's like. It's like you guys got here really early in the day. It's like. It's like early afternoon. All I said was bald, dude.
[02:23:48] Speaker D: I feel like there's something more.
[02:23:50] Speaker B: You guys are gonna be hysterical later in the session. As if this isn't hysterical.
Basically, the landscape rose up into this. Into this compressed hill of exposed stone. And it's dotted with all these colorful lichens, these pale whitish greens and these oranges and reds and yellows. And they're covered in this warm light. And soon enough, the path leads to a big hole in the stony rise. And there's wooden bracing and a clear sign. This is a mine.
You ought to ask the town anything about what they do there. But as you. It's okay. It's okay. As you all see the sign, there are in common some warnings about making sure that you're, like, taking lights with you and gear. These are clearly for the miners. And you all can see like a cart full of stone worked up by the side. And it looks like this is. It looks like the town might be a small mining community. Small subsistence mining community.
[02:24:56] Speaker D: What kind of stone?
Can I tell what that mining is? Give me.
[02:25:03] Speaker B: Investigation.
[02:25:04] Speaker D: Investigation or.
[02:25:09] Speaker B: Yeah, you can.
[02:25:09] Speaker D: It's gonna be seven.
[02:25:11] Speaker B: Sorry, buddy.
[02:25:12] Speaker C: Never mind.
[02:25:12] Speaker B: What?
As you look around. Something wrong?
[02:25:15] Speaker D: I said 17.
[02:25:16] Speaker B: 17. That makes a lot more sense.
Sorry, my bad. 17.
You find traces of a sort of like. Like a bright yellow, but a tawny or red color. Dust around the place. And you find. You find ore fragments in the barrel nearby. This is a copper mine.
And it's not the wealthiest to mine. People need copper for coin. And so, like, this is pretty valuable little endeavor. This is how the town affords for anything more than subsistence. This is what they trade out to their communities.
[02:25:48] Speaker D: This maybe even is why it exists. Possibly.
[02:25:51] Speaker B: Probably. Right.
[02:25:54] Speaker A: Cool.
[02:25:55] Speaker B: So Semeth is a copper mining community.
Okay. No, that was it.
[02:26:02] Speaker C: I would like to see if there's anything in the mind I'd like just kind of peek around in the very beginning.
[02:26:09] Speaker B: Hello. There are in fact things in the mind. But as you stick your head in the light kind of trails behind you a ways, but it pretty quickly gets swallowed up by the darkness. It's much cooler. The air that comes up kind of out of the mine just sort of flows up. Not a creepy supernatural way, but just cool.
[02:26:25] Speaker D: The air is Moving. Yeah.
[02:26:28] Speaker B: There's a clear current. It's kind of hard to tell whether it's coming in or out. Out. Okay. It's cool.
No. In.
There's definitely a small air current. Not strong. And it's a really cool temperature. Makes sense difference between below ground and above ground. And there's boot marks everywhere. And there are a couple. Like there's like a broken pickaxe by the front. Like somebody broke one and dropped it off. Coming front of them later. Clear signs that. And like the wooden bracing continues away down before it gets to like just hewn stone. And you don't need to brace it anymore.
[02:26:59] Speaker A: It doesn't look like like an abandoned light.
[02:27:01] Speaker B: Right. Like it looks like terribly active. Go ahead and give me an insight check.
[02:27:05] Speaker A: But no one's like, but maybe they're.
[02:27:13] Speaker D: Dying.
[02:27:13] Speaker B: Tell me what you 18.
Oh, you know what? A community that builds itself around mining might have to stop for a while if everyone can't quit. Constantly throwing up and crapping their pants and acting like animals.
[02:27:29] Speaker D: D.C. on that.
[02:27:30] Speaker B: Five.
Seven, five.
[02:27:33] Speaker A: You know, I would like to cast dancing light.
[02:27:41] Speaker B: As you play. Like a sort of like. I mean it sounds like a modern instrument but with the rhythm of kind of like a lo fi calm.
Oh, I like that so much better. Yes.
Never mind. Scrap that. I love that so much more. As you're doing.
Yeah. As you play on your lute.
[02:27:57] Speaker D: That.
[02:28:00] Speaker B: All these like little lights appear.
They're like purplish and silver and they're floating around you. We go out of her.
Okay. You send those lights floating down the passage mine. It continues down.
Can.
[02:28:18] Speaker C: Can I make an investigation for a slipper?
[02:28:24] Speaker B: A slipper. A single glass slipper. Yes.
[02:28:27] Speaker A: Turns out Cinderella prints.
[02:28:30] Speaker B: Yeah.
[02:28:32] Speaker C: I don't want j do it. I know that look. I don't want to do it.
Yes.
[02:28:38] Speaker B: No one. Yeah. Good girl.
[02:28:42] Speaker D: It's about inspiration.
[02:28:43] Speaker B: But I love you. Don't find anything.
That was good. I was like, she's gonna get it. You don't even wait until it was kind of rolling it.
[02:28:52] Speaker A: You're new.
[02:28:56] Speaker B: Yeah.
[02:28:56] Speaker A: He's done that to me like 30 times.
That's why she knew that.
That was a little funny the first.
And it's funny for you now. It won't be. It won't be. When you're on the other end of it.
[02:29:11] Speaker B: You leaning over the table screaming, you're new. Was the funniest.
[02:29:15] Speaker D: Girl.
[02:29:15] Speaker B: You are on fire tonight. Holy cow. That was so funny. You knew.
You knew.
[02:29:22] Speaker C: He like.
[02:29:22] Speaker A: He was like.
[02:29:23] Speaker C: You called it before you even ended.
[02:29:26] Speaker A: Yeah. We're like, yeah, that's the joke.
[02:29:30] Speaker B: This is like when I'm in school and I do a joke with a 13 year old and they think it's the funniest thing in the world. Hoffa's been suffering through that joke for two years at home. She's tired of it. But the 13 year old's like, wow, Mr.
[02:29:41] Speaker A: Pen, you're so funny.
[02:29:43] Speaker B: That's right, I am, kid.
[02:29:44] Speaker D: The next time you don't, you fail a check in no name, I'm going to use the your new line on you.
[02:29:51] Speaker A: That's not how that works.
[02:29:53] Speaker B: It is, because I can say that.
[02:29:55] Speaker C: Oh, my goodness.
[02:29:57] Speaker B: So any.
It is now. Oh, this session's a mess. Okay, so I assume you guys start into the mind because that's how the plot advances. Yeah.
[02:30:06] Speaker A: With the dancing lights in front of us.
[02:30:08] Speaker D: Okay.
[02:30:09] Speaker B: And so three adventurers walk in. You have to, like, stoop a little bit. You're so. No.
[02:30:14] Speaker C: Oh, I'm talking.
[02:30:15] Speaker B: You're not seven and a half foot.
You're fine. You're not.
You're. But you feel like you are.
[02:30:22] Speaker D: Did you.
[02:30:23] Speaker B: Jackie tried to check Argyle's height. Navi grabbed the sheet from it's. Anyway, you stoop slightly, but you're okay. You pull out the crossbow. It's a heavy crossbow.
Yes.
[02:30:37] Speaker D: So I guess I pull out the crossbow and say, I'll take the front. And I move.
[02:30:42] Speaker B: Okay. You step to the front with a loaded, heavy crossbow.
Okay. Like the shotgun equivalent of this world. Right. You're like walking down the hallway with it and the lights are just around you.
[02:30:56] Speaker A: Can our dragons fit?
[02:30:57] Speaker B: Well, I was about to say trailing closely behind you.
Fern is fine. She fits easily. She's big, but, you know, smaller than you by a measure.
Zeras fits. He has to put his head down and his illusion fits fine. But occasionally you all hear and he like, like, growls in frustration. And eventually he says out loud, not needing to act like he can't speak, and he goes, this is not my favorite of our adventures there.
[02:31:29] Speaker A: Would you like to wait outside or.
[02:31:31] Speaker C: I was. I was just gonna think that, but I mean, I didn't want to 1.
[02:31:36] Speaker B: You.
[02:31:37] Speaker C: You absolutely can if you'd like to. I think it's. Or I think it's safer if we all stick together, especially tell.
[02:31:44] Speaker B: I'd be pissed if I let you die.
[02:31:46] Speaker A: Zaire. I have been trying. I've been working on a new spell with Teloge. I could try to transform you into.
[02:31:55] Speaker C: Something smaller if you'd like.
[02:31:56] Speaker B: Let's save those.
[02:31:58] Speaker C: Okay.
[02:32:00] Speaker B: And he Just the other thing, too, is, as he walks, you all can hear his claws clacking against the stone. And every once in a while, he'll take a hard step and you'll hear a tsk T. And it's like his claws are sparking on the stone every once in a while as he walks.
[02:32:16] Speaker D: Zeras, can you turn around?
Are you able to turn around?
[02:32:21] Speaker B: Of course he turns.
[02:32:23] Speaker D: Okay, so he's able to turn around.
[02:32:24] Speaker B: He turns. No, I can't.
This sucks.
[02:32:31] Speaker D: You're ready to backpedal really, really fast.
[02:32:33] Speaker B: He turns to you, Rowan, and he goes, if we have to turn, turn me into whatever.
He just growls like.
Ben continues.
He's not a fan of this tight space, but he can't go back now.
Thern walks up and, like, kind of, like, trots up and, like, nips at his legs. They have both a very, like, conscious, like, humanoid, like, sibling relationship and also a very animalistic one. It's interesting being around these animals because they are in every way as intelligent and capable as you and also much more animalistic at the same time. So she begins, like, nipping at his legs, and he, like, takes a big leg and, like, pushes her down and keeps walking.
[02:33:11] Speaker D: And then is she behind him?
[02:33:13] Speaker B: She's, like, walking underneath him, like, in between his legs, biting at his legs. And every once in a while, when he gets tired, he just, like. I mean, it's a force that would be really dangerous to you all into dragging siblings isn't that much. He takes a hat, a leg, and, like, pushes her head into the ground, like, but to her, it's kind of some light. It's some light rough housing, right? And she just.
And gets up and, like, her tail wags back and forth. It's. It's an interesting motion. It's not like the rigid wag of a dog's tail when she gets happy. It's like. It's. It's a wag of the tail, but it's long and serpentine in a reptile way.
And she, like. She briefly, like, like, gains a little air with her wings and then lands back down.
Kind of like a jerk move from a younger sibling. Like, you can push me down. I can fly.
[02:34:00] Speaker A: Yeah. Oh, I can do it.
[02:34:02] Speaker B: I mean, siblings. Siblings are pricked. Sometimes he just hisses. And it's got this unsettling reverberation in this tunnel just, like, down the way you all are walking in this dark passage for quite some time.
The mine itself is cool.
The air in here is humid and cold. And soon enough you guys notice that some of your boots begin slipping on the stone a little bit, not, like, precariously. And as you all notice, every once in a while, there's a little.
And water droplets are hitting you in the head, and you all look up and realize that from some source, the water is cooler or the air is cooler in here, and it's more humid, and it's condensating on the roof of the cave and dropping down on you all and then coming back onto the floor, and you realize it's probably a cycle. Probably. Well, no, actually, you probably don't realize that. And just for the players, there's only so much water in this cave, but the angle and temperature difference is enough that the water condensates on the top, drips back to the floor. Condensates on the top, drips back on the floor. And it's just in this perpetual cycle in this cave, and it probably is what was initially weathering the stone out of the way that allowed everyone to ever discover that there were copper deposits and begin digging here.
[02:35:15] Speaker D: Right.
[02:35:17] Speaker B: I. I like that.
Thank you.
As you all walk, could I get a perception check from everybody?
That's a dirty 20.
[02:35:31] Speaker C: That's just a 20 for me also.
[02:35:33] Speaker B: But that's a dirty 20. It felt natural. Do we all get dirty 20s?
[02:35:37] Speaker C: 20?
[02:35:37] Speaker D: We are.
[02:35:38] Speaker B: Everyone got a 20, guys?
[02:35:41] Speaker A: That's.
[02:35:41] Speaker B: So this is such a special session.
I'm having so much fun playing D and D right now.
[02:35:46] Speaker D: I'm having so much fun tripping.
[02:35:52] Speaker B: And as you walk. Oh, no.
And, like, it's too quiet in here. And, like. And, like, that dripping water sound is, like, reverberating in your head, and you're like. You're having trouble. Like, is that. No.
Was that another water droplet, or was that the one from earlier?
You, like, look over your shoulder, and you're okay. You're all right.
You're all right.
And you're like, the dragon would know if something was there. But you're like, you're holding it together, but this is not a fun part of the trip.
[02:36:24] Speaker D: Squeeze the crossbow.
[02:36:26] Speaker B: Okay.
But you're okay.
And as you all are walking, you all notice all at once, together with equal twenties as the light. You guys are studying the ceiling and the wall and the length below. But eventually, you guys notice all of a sudden, at once, all in unison, as the dancing light goes by the wall. All of a sudden, something catches in the wall and reflects, and it is that there's this carved groove on the wall, and water has caught on it and slicked and as the light goes by, it gets at just the right angle so that the bare stone with its reflection in water in it, reflects light for a second. And all three of you kind of can't help it at once, but look at it. You all stop. And as you direct your dancing lights to move up next to the wall, you realize that there is a pattern in the wall.
Someone has walked up with a tool and carved a pattern into the wall.
And could somebody give me a piece of paper?
[02:37:19] Speaker C: I would like to pick it up.
[02:37:20] Speaker B: Oh, thank you.
I'm really glad we're having so much fun with this second, because I wouldn't.
[02:37:25] Speaker D: Recognize this as goose camp, would I?
[02:37:27] Speaker B: Yes. Yeah, well, give me a second, because it's far too simple to be peaceful.
[02:37:32] Speaker D: Okay, cool.
[02:37:33] Speaker A: You are here.
[02:37:35] Speaker B: You all get close, and it says, your mom.
All right?
So you all look, and as you notice, there's a gash in the wall. You move a little bit to the left, and there's two lines, a little bit more, and there's three. A little bit more, and then there's three in a sideways dash and some space, and it repeats. And I'll draw it for you. So there's a line in the wall, and then maybe 2 or 3ft away, two more, each about 5 or 6 inches long. And they're just roughly carved. Not fine. Not like a fine craftsmanship. You know, simple. And then two or three feet away, three lines.
Two or three feet away, three lines and a sideways dash, and it's five or six feet, and there's another line, two or three feet, another two lines, two or three feet, another three lines, two or three feet, three lines and a dash, and five or six feet, and it repeats. And this pattern.
And as you all look backward, you realize it's been on the cave walls this whole time and you weren't noticing it. And it's been. It's been here, but they're. They're shallow. You kind of had to get further into the cave where they were picking up water and reflecting before you could notice it. It's just repeating all over the wall.
[02:38:50] Speaker D: Dm, Are you familiar with lost jpeg?
[02:38:52] Speaker B: I'm not.
I'm not. I don't know what time right now.
[02:38:58] Speaker C: Okay, so, dm, I'm not sure what time I check.
[02:39:02] Speaker B: This would be.
[02:39:03] Speaker C: And I can't do it.
[02:39:07] Speaker D: His brain just fell off.
[02:39:09] Speaker B: He's walking.
[02:39:11] Speaker C: He went. So, guys.
[02:39:16] Speaker B: Is that a normal thing that Argyle maybe does?
[02:39:20] Speaker C: So, dm, can I make a check to see?
Does is. This would I have any knowledge at all. If this is something that miners you to like mark distance, give me.
[02:39:34] Speaker B: This is going to be a history check. Be a really high DC.
It's going to be DC 22 because you're not proficient in his. This is going to be DC20 because.
[02:39:44] Speaker C: I also can't make that I have a negative one.
[02:39:48] Speaker B: I get. Well, it's DC20 because you're not a minor and you're not proficient in history.
[02:39:51] Speaker C: Okay, that says a 15.
[02:39:53] Speaker B: Okay.
[02:39:56] Speaker C: I.
I would like you to give.
[02:40:00] Speaker B: Me an insight or a strategies check. Strategy is under intelligence.
Okay.
It's because of his character. I know.
[02:40:10] Speaker A: It was a joke.
[02:40:12] Speaker D: 13.
[02:40:13] Speaker B: Wow, that was a really cool roll. The way it perched up on the chair, up on the page.
Oh, that could have been really good.
Yeah, it's okay with a 13.
Oh, you know what?
This is definitely marking something and that's obvious. But hold on, bear with me. You are from extra legal persuasions and it's not uncommon to leave very simple abstract markings where people can see but denote something specific that people would have to be in on to know about. That's communicating a message. That's obvious if you know what you're looking for. Like a host mark something. Right?
[02:40:49] Speaker D: Yeah.
[02:40:49] Speaker B: Someone is communicating something to someone here. And again, as obvious as that sounds, there's a pattern. Right. And so as you put it together, you've dealt with people doing things like this before, right. La Boma verse operatives in their many diverse backgrounds and groups practice things like this. It's meaningful to you that it continues. If there was one message to tell it would it just be been at the front? But the message also isn't changing. So it's not some sort of long form connected message. This has to be something where, like to continue the pattern, it must change at some point. It must be saying something about what you're looking for.
So all this, you don't have any clear answer here, but all this is bubbling around in your brain.
[02:41:34] Speaker D: To continue the pattern, it must change at some point.
[02:41:36] Speaker A: Like.
[02:41:36] Speaker B: Like to be bothering to be continuing down the wall. At some point, it must change in a way that signifies. Okay, otherwise why not just write it once and why bother to continue doing.
And again, it's really worth noting how lazily these are put in the wall. Right. It's like someone took a powerful instrument with some skill or a magical instrument with some ease and just carve, carve, carve, carve, carve, carve.
[02:41:59] Speaker A: Perfect distance every time. Like, is it like one foot?
[02:42:01] Speaker B: Exactly.
It's Much more like someone was like.
[02:42:06] Speaker D: Oh, it's not like the space means anything.
[02:42:09] Speaker B: It is not.
And if it does, how incredibly complicated.
[02:42:12] Speaker C: Because it's not exact and they're all different. Like, they're all just like. Our guy would run his fingers along the way.
[02:42:19] Speaker B: Yeah.
[02:42:19] Speaker D: Right.
[02:42:19] Speaker B: Not like. Not like this expert repeated car, but like someone striking it.
[02:42:24] Speaker C: Right.
[02:42:26] Speaker B: Also, you guys have been going down this path for about 20 minutes and you've been walking for a while.
And finally an opening and a wall on your left. The tunnel continues ahead. Clearly the mine to your left. There is an opening in the wall and clearly an offshoot of the tunnel. And it goes to the left. It's clearly dug out by miners. It's not perfect. It's not like carved stone, but it is clearly a dug aperture that must have been following some copper vein. And it also continues down for a way, splitting off to your left a little more narrow.
[02:42:59] Speaker D: Does the pattern repeat in that offshoot?
[02:43:03] Speaker B: You look down the wall.
Nothing on the wall.
[02:43:06] Speaker C: Nothing on the wall.
[02:43:07] Speaker D: But how does the pattern continue past the offshoot?
[02:43:10] Speaker B: As you look past, next thing you notice the pattern changes. Can I have a pen?
[02:43:16] Speaker A: Again, pattern changes.
[02:43:19] Speaker B: Do you still have inspiration?
[02:43:20] Speaker D: Yes, I do.
[02:43:21] Speaker B: I would have given it to you again. That was very. Oh, that was exactly the thing to know.
As you move your head past, the pattern has altered. It's got a similar distance. It's a little far apart now. It looks like somebody was getting tired of carving it. Yeah. But now the pattern goes two lines, three lines, three lines and a dash.
Two lines, three lines, three lines and a dash. And continues on that way as if the original primary one line has now been a mint.
I see. Okay.
[02:43:55] Speaker D: I'm going to say to everyone here that I. I have a.
[02:44:04] Speaker B: That was honestly a beautiful sound. That was so gorgeous.
[02:44:08] Speaker A: Felt like I was in school. And the bell.
[02:44:10] Speaker B: Oh, my goodness. That's the sound.
[02:44:13] Speaker D: I have a suspicion that if we continue. Continue down this, down this carved tunnel, that once we find an offshoot where the pattern reduces to three lines and a dash, there might.
[02:44:30] Speaker B: That might be where we're supposed to.
[02:44:32] Speaker D: Go, where there might be something of interest.
[02:44:34] Speaker C: Yeah, I think we should follow the pattern.
[02:44:39] Speaker B: Ravina, I appreciate your blevity.
[02:44:42] Speaker A: Ravina is like kind of nodding and she. She goes into the offshoot a little with her dancing lights and sends them around just to see if there's anything.
[02:44:49] Speaker B: In that offshoot that's after you study it for a little bit. Yeah. Like old, thin copper veins. Okay. Yeah. And more condensation.
[02:44:57] Speaker A: But nothing else.
[02:44:58] Speaker B: Mining tools.
[02:44:59] Speaker A: Non mining looking.
[02:45:01] Speaker B: There's a pail with some copper pattern and rubble in the bottom.
[02:45:05] Speaker A: Is there an end to.
[02:45:07] Speaker B: Seems to go on for a way going on. You could follow it.
[02:45:09] Speaker D: Are we slowly descending this whole time?
[02:45:11] Speaker B: Yes. Oh, dear goodness. Thank you. No other. Yes. A slow and steady descent. Not intense. Not an intense incline. Very gradual. I. I failed to say that.
[02:45:20] Speaker D: Thank you.
[02:45:22] Speaker B: You've also been. Sorry. Sorry. Very slightly changing direction. Like veering left and right a little bit. The path moves circuitously. I'm sorry. I just wanted to make sure.
[02:45:30] Speaker C: I'd like to take some just like, pebbles that are around the.
And I'm gonna line them up like. Just like little petals. I want to line them up along the entrance to that. To the offshoot. Just like, as a visual marker. Yeah, yeah. And I want them to be like. I want them to, like, be small enough that you could walk over them, but also, like, it's like a solid line. So if someone brushed them with, like, their foot, I would notice.
[02:45:56] Speaker B: Oh, Abby, I'm not even saying that's going to come up, but. Dude, that was so wicked. So smart. That was dope. That was really cool.
[02:46:01] Speaker D: That is a genuine argyle.
[02:46:03] Speaker B: Your intelligence score higher than argyles, that's for sure.
I mean, hey, 10's not bad. It just means he's. Wait, where's. Oh, it's eight. You are. You are too stupider than the average person.
You're too dumber.
[02:46:18] Speaker D: I too am too the too dumber.
[02:46:22] Speaker B: Hey, how's your day going? I'm too dumb.
Too dumb.
I'm too not smart.
[02:46:27] Speaker A: But he's got 17 charisma.
[02:46:28] Speaker B: He's charming all the ladies, which is. And that's a fascinating score because it's so untrue.
[02:46:34] Speaker A: That's not true.
[02:46:36] Speaker D: It's a placebo effect.
[02:46:37] Speaker B: It makes it happen so it actually happens. It's so strong. All I invite you to do is imagine real life Argyle interacting with real life Abby and tell me how well that interaction would go.
[02:46:47] Speaker A: I love that.
[02:46:48] Speaker B: All right, so the party continues.
Okay. Another five or six minutes. Walking a second tunnel offshoots to the right this time.
[02:46:59] Speaker D: What does the pattern look like?
[02:47:01] Speaker B: Okay, move your head past. Now it is. Can I have the pen back?
It continues expectedly. And now the intervals are getting really loose. And the distance between. This person's clearly getting tired of carving what they're carving.
[02:47:14] Speaker D: So it's three, three and a dash.
[02:47:17] Speaker B: Three, three and a dash.
[02:47:20] Speaker A: Okay.
[02:47:20] Speaker B: So now it's eliminated the second symbol.
[02:47:23] Speaker C: I'm gonna Briefly check. I'm gonna ask Ravina to send down the.
[02:47:27] Speaker B: Send down the lights. Same tools.
[02:47:30] Speaker D: Rubble.
[02:47:31] Speaker B: Copy that.
[02:47:31] Speaker C: I'm do the same marker.
[02:47:34] Speaker B: Okay, you all continue.
[02:47:37] Speaker A: Can I do a.
Like a.
I guess it doesn't matter.
I don't think the track matters.
[02:47:49] Speaker B: Okay, no problem. And honestly, that also. That feels like character growth for Jackie. I didn't mean that.
I'm genuinely proud of you.
[02:47:57] Speaker A: I'm genuinely proud of you.
[02:47:59] Speaker B: Sorry if that was demeaning.
[02:48:00] Speaker C: Anything?
[02:48:00] Speaker A: No, it's.
[02:48:01] Speaker B: You all continue for a distance beyond. You find actually pretty quickly, two or three minutes later. This must have been a copy heavy. A copper heavy path. No.
You were trying to defend me and you're like, no, that was just funny. This one's also on the right again. Seems to go. This one goes down for a short ways.
Ravenna can't send her lights all the way down before they reach the end. Terminates in a wide bow.
Copper veins all around. Clear signs of active mining. There's a barrow pushed into position and ore filling it up.
Also a little bit of diarrhea on the ground.
This must have been the moment everyone realized they had to quit mining.
[02:48:40] Speaker D: Is there a trail of diarrhea running.
[02:48:42] Speaker B: Back up the back towards the well? It doesn't go very long. Yeah, just like.
Like, like someone went. Oh, no, no, no, no, no. Sort of.
You get the feeling like you don't.
[02:48:55] Speaker A: Want to smell it.
[02:48:56] Speaker B: This is probably. Well, it's.
[02:48:57] Speaker D: It's long. What do the symbols look like?
[02:48:59] Speaker B: Still past this.
3 dash. 3 dash. 3 dash. Only the final symbol remains.
[02:49:06] Speaker D: Just to clarify the first passage, that first offshoot was on the left and the next two were on the right.
[02:49:11] Speaker B: And then this one is on the right.
This is the third. We haven't reached this.
[02:49:16] Speaker D: Okay, gotcha.
[02:49:17] Speaker B: But afterward, the path, the symbol is now continuing. Just three dash. Three. Three dash. Right.
You all continue for some distance further.
And finally you all reach a fourth offshoot of the tunnel.
It continues into darkness. And as you peer your past. This one's also on the right. So they've all been dark since the first one.
As you all move your head past the aperture and look down the cave.
No symbology after this carved into the wall.
[02:49:47] Speaker C: What's on the right?
What's on the. I'm looking into the. The tunnel on the right. Is there symbols on that wall tunnel like the others.
Do you guys think we should go forward?
[02:49:59] Speaker D: Ravina, can you send your lights down.
[02:50:03] Speaker A: To the right?
[02:50:04] Speaker D: Yes.
[02:50:05] Speaker B: Yeah.
[02:50:05] Speaker A: She sends them down to the left.
[02:50:06] Speaker B: You play a couple notes. And they.
And as they shine the light, they get about 50ft before suddenly they come up to an entire wooden door with a metal handle just sitting in the stonework.
[02:50:21] Speaker A: Well, that's not.
[02:50:22] Speaker D: Ignore this plot point and continue.
[02:50:24] Speaker B: It's down the tunnel. An insight check door. DC0.
[02:50:30] Speaker C: I feel like we should go through the door.
[02:50:32] Speaker B: Okay.
[02:50:33] Speaker A: I think we should check the door first.
[02:50:34] Speaker C: Good idea.
[02:50:37] Speaker B: Yeah. Okay, Rick. And as the party continues down the walkway for a little bit, you hear a quiet hiss from Zeras. He fits. Not jazzed about the side, but he's also the thing about a dragon's build, especially like a young black dragon, he is still. He has a feline make, so he can, like, shift his shoulders and he gets low. It's kind of creepy for you who's not used to him because it feels like you're being stalked from behind.
But. And it's really worth emphasizing, like a tiger, but also crocodile and much bigger, you know.
Yeah. Imagine how horrifying that would be. Like, body shape and movement of a tiger.
[02:51:18] Speaker C: Yeah.
[02:51:18] Speaker B: Physical appearance of a crocodile twice the size.
[02:51:21] Speaker C: Those are two of the most scary animals.
[02:51:23] Speaker B: Also, remember acid from the mouth.
[02:51:25] Speaker C: Yeah.
[02:51:25] Speaker B: Giant skeleton.
[02:51:28] Speaker A: And.
[02:51:28] Speaker B: But Argyle, that dude, crocodile and a tiger.
[02:51:32] Speaker C: And it can reach me from like 20ft.
[02:51:33] Speaker B: Yes.
[02:51:34] Speaker C: With a.
[02:51:35] Speaker B: And also, that thing really likes you and Argyle.
Argyle probably wouldn't even be able to process this. Abby. That terror you feel at that thought. Which also.
[02:51:45] Speaker D: Yeah.
[02:51:45] Speaker B: Freaks me out.
[02:51:46] Speaker D: Right.
[02:51:46] Speaker C: Yeah.
[02:51:47] Speaker B: That's the sheer level of unbridled confidence Argyle has walking around with Zeras, knowing that should anyone try to tangle with him, kind of needs to go through Zeras first. And you know Zeras is annoyed by you. Yeah. You have also, on a couple of your adventures, watched him remove something's head when it tried to harm you. So also a little note just for you two who've been with him for some time. Zeras has gotten beefy.
He's a big guy, and you used to really need to protect him in combat, and you still feel a protective instinct. You've been with this dude since he was a little frail thing with broken wings. But the role has reversed a little bit the last couple ventures. You've been on with some danger. He's done some violent things to the things that tried to harm you. It's a little frightening to be around him if he wasn't so loyal to you.
Also, very quietly peeking at the back of your mind every once in a while is the responsibility you feel. And maybe the way you don't scale up to the task to make sure that this thing adjusts in a healthy way. Because it's not. The legends of dragons are not lost on you. He's clearly on a very different path than most dragons are. But you've heard of chromatic dragons, you've never heard of a friendly one.
And your minds are constantly plagued by the idea that this increasingly powerful being would not arrive at a healthy end.
But anywho, you're moving down the. Down the narrow tunnel.
[02:53:15] Speaker A: Is it also safe to say, just from a character standpoint for Ravenna, because of her background and because of her like, like her, her halfling bravery and her haunted background, be safe to say that like she has a weird, almost like an unhealthy non fearfulness about them.
Like, almost like, like, almost like when you see like, like tiger trainers get too comfortable with their tiger and actually.
[02:53:52] Speaker B: Actually I can't believe that I'm giving Argyle this credit, but considering how much more grounded and developed he's been of a character this session. Argyle, it's honestly you who's noticed how much Ravenna isn't concerned about them.
[02:54:06] Speaker A: Can I?
[02:54:07] Speaker C: Can I. So I think.
[02:54:09] Speaker B: And we should continue with the scene in a moment. But this is cool roleplay.
[02:54:11] Speaker C: Argyle is, is normally he's very like grandiose. He's very like, boom, I'm the coolest.
But I think with the dragons, specifically with Zeras. I'm so sorry.
[02:54:24] Speaker B: That's okay.
[02:54:25] Speaker C: With Zeras, I think he, like, he like he tries to tone himself down a little bit because he can tell that he kind of gets on Varus nerves and he knows how important it is to like maintain goodwill with Seiros. Not in like a. I want this guy to like me, but like he feels the gravity of like, I am responsible for how this.
[02:54:49] Speaker B: Could you give me an inside check?
[02:54:51] Speaker C: Yeah.
[02:54:53] Speaker A: Oh, no.
[02:54:54] Speaker B: Scratch rat. Yeah, you can.
Whoa.
[02:54:59] Speaker C: So this is insight.
That's a 12.
[02:55:03] Speaker B: Okay, Argyle, after all this time, there's a thing that concerns you above all else.
It's the way Xerus likes you all.
It's how he hangs on you and holds to you.
Xerus is becoming increasingly aware, even if subconsciously, how precarious his position in the world is. How much he doesn't belong anywhere. And Tellojer is his world world. You all are his world. It's not healthy because in some very metaphorical and very literal ways, there is a limit on how long he can be around before he outgrows you.
And it has dawned on you many times as someone so concerned with making communities for people. How much the day he outgrows you, it can't be good. Yeah.
He doesn't. Like you don't know how he could have something better. But this relationship, you're probably not thinking of it quite so. Yeah, but this isn't a healthy dynamic.
Yeah. And like. And you've just been noticing this over time and what concerns you is how much like Taylor's cares but also has his eyes on other things. And Ravenna is so confident in this relationship. And it dawns on you specifically something here. Can't.
But anyway, you're in a tunnel.
Anyway. That was fun. This is the best courageous core thing. Maybe we need to do more of these.
Maybe. Maybe this is our trio.
[02:56:34] Speaker C: For a little bit.
[02:56:39] Speaker B: I don't like that you won't venture down its length after too long or after not too long. It's like a minute or two before you all have gotten. No, actually, excuse me. You saw the door. It's like 20 or 30 seconds. And you guys arrive at the door.
The door is bright pink.
It's painted bright pink with a wooden handle.
[02:57:02] Speaker A: We talking hot pink or Pepto Abysmal?
[02:57:04] Speaker B: Also like, like Pepto Bismol pink. And after you all. After you all move about 50ft down the 100 foot passage, a voice rings out aloud immediately.
Hope your cleverness holds.
Everybody kind of freezes.
[02:57:25] Speaker D: Crossbow was pointed at the center of the door.
[02:57:27] Speaker B: Okay. It didn't come from the door.
[02:57:29] Speaker A: She came from around us or around.
[02:57:31] Speaker B: And it kind of echoed on the walls.
[02:57:33] Speaker A: Hope your cleverness holds.
[02:57:34] Speaker D: Yeah.
[02:57:35] Speaker C: Can you say it again?
[02:57:36] Speaker B: Hope your cleverness holds.
[02:57:39] Speaker D: Yes.
[02:57:42] Speaker A: That'S it.
[02:57:45] Speaker B: And like the group pauses there nervously for a second until about 25, 30 seconds later.
Hope your cleverness holds.
Exact same intonation.
[02:57:57] Speaker D: I'm gonna walk up to the door.
[02:57:58] Speaker B: Okay. Besides the obvious, give me. Give me an investigation check. I'll send another 25. 30 seconds later.
Hope your cleverness holds. 24. Okay.
Can anyone. Is anyone here proficient in an arcana?
[02:58:18] Speaker D: Yeah.
[02:58:18] Speaker B: Yes. Give an arcana check.
Oh, my goodness. Jackie. Okay, so the teacher and me. You can't have smartwatches in the classroom. And you held up your arm and I was like, no, smartwatch is a bag. But then I was like, oh, I'm an adult with my friends.
But like it's.
[02:58:33] Speaker D: We're consuming alcohol.
[02:58:35] Speaker B: It's so. It's so ingrained in me. I was like, Jack, you just bar watch this event.
[02:58:40] Speaker C: I want to say that when we. When you said that there was a script on the statue, I was Like, I have my glasses. I have my glasses. I have my glasses. And then I was like, I don't have my glasses.
[02:58:47] Speaker B: I don't have my.
[02:58:47] Speaker C: I'm not that person.
[02:58:48] Speaker B: Also, this. This is a small thing, but this is probably a good comedown for you guys to get used to this process, this feeling of stepping down. Because the feeling of going from being.
The feeling of going.
The feeling you guys are gonna have when you go from the end of this campaign to campaign two, when you guys go from level to level one is gonna be the hardest. Calm down. It's gonna be like him when he gets sober.
[02:59:12] Speaker A: I have 7 proficiencies but no expertise.
[02:59:15] Speaker D: How much time has it been?
[02:59:19] Speaker B: That's actually a really important note for how you've only got an hour left.
So actually, all the prattling and dabbling has really paid off.
[02:59:27] Speaker A: You're welcome. Did you say arcada?
[02:59:30] Speaker B: Yes.
[02:59:31] Speaker A: That's a 17.
[02:59:33] Speaker B: Raveena. You've heard of this spell? Actually, magic mouth.
This hallway's been laced with something. And when you all passed the point, it triggered to repeat the phrase.
And so a moment later, the voice comes again.
Pop. Your cleverness holds. And as you were investigating the door, you all find that there is a little bit of chalk residue on top of the handle.
And as you swing your eyes very faintly, just barely marked against the paint is a little like kind of chalky shape.
[03:00:06] Speaker D: What does it look like?
[03:00:09] Speaker B: It's a little unintelligible to you? Okay.
[03:00:14] Speaker C: I just want to say, like, the hope your cleverness holds reminds me so stinking much of Moriarty from.
[03:00:21] Speaker B: Oh, my gosh.
[03:00:22] Speaker C: Like, just like the like.
[03:00:25] Speaker A: And it's even iron.
[03:00:26] Speaker C: What is like, what does he say? He says.
[03:00:28] Speaker A: Oh, I don't remember Hot Priest.
[03:00:30] Speaker B: Oh, are you talking about me Lucky Charms? He says something about me Lucky Charms. No, I feel like I meant it.
[03:00:41] Speaker D: To be fair. I thought you were serious, too. And I was like, I don't remember that part.
[03:00:45] Speaker C: Hope you're fine.
[03:00:47] Speaker D: Is this one first?
[03:00:48] Speaker B: Hope you find your. Hope you find your dad.
Okay, but.
[03:00:52] Speaker D: But great.
[03:00:53] Speaker B: There's plenty of sessions.
[03:00:53] Speaker D: Great scene.
[03:00:54] Speaker B: Back to the D and D.
So.
[03:00:59] Speaker D: Back to the D and D. Okay, so there's a. There's a chalk on the door. Yeah. I guess I would just relay this to them.
[03:01:06] Speaker B: What?
No, sir.
[03:01:09] Speaker D: Sorry.
[03:01:13] Speaker A: I turn to Z. I go, Sarah's phone. You're not going to fit through those door.
[03:01:19] Speaker B: That door outfit.
And he, like, pulls the.
[03:01:24] Speaker A: She looks at the door.
[03:01:25] Speaker B: She can try.
He could maybe make. Certainly it's gonna be a tight fit. But he could try. And he goes, don't turn me yet.
[03:01:35] Speaker D: I'm gonna kick in the door.
[03:01:37] Speaker A: Let's try. Let's.
[03:01:38] Speaker B: Okay.
Oh, excuse me. Oh, excuse me.
[03:01:42] Speaker A: Did you say that a player has.
[03:01:43] Speaker B: Made a statement of his own accord? No, Jackie, a player has made a statement of his own accord. Give me an athletic yours.
[03:01:49] Speaker A: Freak me out. Now Kavina has a vision of someone who looks like her 200 years from now almost being disintegrated by a door.
[03:01:58] Speaker B: Yeah, okay, but this isn't the Count Dungeon. Know that? I wouldn't pop that on you.
You hold up a massive leg, and you.
You rattle your foot, and it echoes down the hallway. Ironically, the moment you kick, it goes. The voice from the hallway goes, hop. Your cleverness holds. And as you rattle your foot against it, the door doesn't budge. It creaks a little, but it.
And. But the. The handle rattles. And you will watch this little puff of, like, kind of green, sparkly magic.
And I need you.
[03:02:31] Speaker D: Oh, no.
[03:02:32] Speaker B: To give me a charisma saving throw.
[03:02:37] Speaker D: And that's a disadvantage.
[03:02:39] Speaker B: All good.
That's so good. That was not so good.
5.
You hear a little.
You hear a little voice whisper in your ear, and it just says, make a complete fool of yourself, and dominate person is cast over you.
[03:03:02] Speaker D: What does that do?
[03:03:03] Speaker B: You are completely dominated, unwilling to resist. Completely unable to resist the command that takes over your entire mind and body. And for the next minute, you have one single volition, and that is to make a complete fool of yourself.
[03:03:16] Speaker D: Oh, my God.
[03:03:17] Speaker B: What do you do?
[03:03:19] Speaker D: He's gonna.
He's gonna take.
[03:03:25] Speaker B: Sorry, I could not.
[03:03:26] Speaker D: Yeah, he's gonna start sounding like corn a little bit.
[03:03:30] Speaker B: Okay, so neck comes to the front. He starts going.
He's gonna take.
[03:03:37] Speaker D: He's gonna take his outer cloak off and start ripping it into shreds.
[03:03:43] Speaker A: Oh, no.
[03:03:45] Speaker B: This is all happening in front of you. All Zeras, like, a cat, like, pulls his head back. The illusion falls off of him from his sheer discomfort. And he does like, a cat where he, like, he can't shift his ears because he doesn't have them, but he just kind of, like, his pupils get big, and he, like, he's gonna take.
[03:04:02] Speaker D: The strips, start tying them together, and make, like, a lasso out of it. And he's gonna turn to Zeras.
[03:04:07] Speaker A: No, no, I grabbed.
I turned and grab.
[03:04:10] Speaker B: There's. There's.
Go.
Go ahead and give me. Give me a roll to hit, but you're just using dexterity, and you're not proficient.
[03:04:19] Speaker D: Okay.
[03:04:22] Speaker B: Yes. And you give me.
[03:04:24] Speaker D: That's a 22.
[03:04:26] Speaker B: Okay.
[03:04:26] Speaker A: Give me.
[03:04:27] Speaker B: You can. You can basically pick. You can make this in a contested acrobatics, or you can make a roll to hit if you want. This technically might trigger your missile sneering. I don't know.
[03:04:37] Speaker C: So go ahead and join a nine.
[03:04:41] Speaker B: Okay. You.
You slip on the water and you successfully. And as you throw the cloth, it just lands on his head and pulls off. And Zeris just goes.
[03:04:55] Speaker D: What.
[03:04:59] Speaker A: Can I do?
[03:05:01] Speaker B: I'm really glad that ended the way it did.
[03:05:03] Speaker A: I'm doing arcana checks to see if I can tell. Like, because I saw the green magic, right?
[03:05:08] Speaker B: Yeah. And you don't need it. Are you proficient?
[03:05:11] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah.
[03:05:12] Speaker B: That's not. He's been.
[03:05:13] Speaker A: He's been enchanted, girl.
[03:05:15] Speaker B: He's been enchanted.
And also, Zeras just looks at you and goes, yeah. What?
You use your inspiration. No, you should have. You would have gotten it again.
[03:05:30] Speaker A: I look at Zeras and I go, I think he's under some kind of foe influence.
Zeras goes, yeah, I know, but I think maybe it'll end soon.
[03:05:44] Speaker B: Thern goes, he's stupid.
And it's about.
[03:05:51] Speaker A: I have a crazy high.
[03:05:53] Speaker B: It's about this time that the magic wears off of you and you find yourself.
You're holding shreds of your cloak that are tied.
Everything that happens trapped in your own stupid body.
And you're just standing there, sweating, coming down off the high, stressed out, sweat beat on your forehead, holding the shreds of your own cloak and a weird tide claw. You look over. Zerus is 20ft away to you, straight up unnerved.
You have totally flipped the tables on the young black dragon. And he's just like.
And on that note, I think we'll end part one.
I can't think of a better place to go ahead and end that. So, listener, you'll wait a bit and we'll come back on the second episode.
We have more of these hijinks soon.
Sorry, I got a little burpee there.
So listen, every.
All four of us just. Life's an act of.
Anyway, this is a mess. Skippity Wap and Dada. We'll see you next time.
